Mike has been cutting my hair for the past 5 years. I always leave with a good cut. They now book appointments which is so much better now, since the wait could be almost 2 hours sometimes. From what Ive seen, all the barbers are very proficient at their craft.

I highly value my time and reviews do not usually make the cut for a worthwhile investment. However, Duckys is a very rare exception. I didnt realize how much Id miss this place when I moved out of state, and the first thing I did when I touched back down in San Diego to visit was drive straight to this barbershop. The guys are awesome, the beer is cold, the conversation is always engaging, sports, good books and magazines to browse while waiting, and a damn fine straight razor shave and beard trim. Cant wait for my next SD visit to swing back in.

I called last minute hoping to get a spot without an appointment and these guys took me in. Nice shop, laid back vibe, and everyone’s friendly, plus the prices are pretty good for the service. Weston did my beard trim and not only did he listen to what I was wanting but he also did an outstanding job!

Found this place about a year ago and these guys are masters of their trade. Cool place, laid back and Danny can dial in a flat top with the best of them. Check it out for yourself.

It was an okay experience. 1st time here, but Im not coming back. I got cut by a razor on the back of my neck. He told me it wasnt bad but he cut literally 3 inches.

I was welcomed as I walked in and the young barber took me back and we started our consult. I explained in precise detail exactly how I wanted my haircut, drop fade etc. I ended up with a high fade and shaved all around my head. I was so disappointed I paid and left, sat in my car and yelled and cried, because I hated my haircut. I went back and talked with him, told him he didn’t give me the haircut I wanted, whether he thought what I wanted looked good or not, I didn’t get the haircut we discussed. He displayed great professionalism, apologized and offered to give my my money back. While I will not be going back, the young man gave a good haircut, just not at all what we discussed. Three stars for the young mans professionalism.

Wanted a drop fade. THEY OBVIOUSLY DIDNT KNOW WHAT THAT WAS BECAUSE MY HEAD IS SHAVED!!!!! I DID NOT WANT TO BE BALD! Didnt listen to what I wanted. I got a high fade! So disappointed 😞. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because they had great customer service.

Bad experience at this shop. My son was in getting a cut before his school pic and new to this place. I made an appointment but he was taken in 15 minutes after. The barber was soooo slow after 30 minutes I had to hurry him up since we were going to be late. I let him know that we needed to go to get a photo. He took another 5 minutes and let him out without his hair combed with product and hairs all over his forehead ect.Another HUGE issue was them allowing a customer to get his haircut without wearing a mask and he was talking spreading his germs everywhere. Also two other barbers walking around without masks as well. Definitely not following Covid guidelines to stay open !

Wow... this place exactly what Ive been looking for in a barbershop. I walked in yesterday from my first haircut . Literally waited seconds and Jesse took care of me . I’ve been going to Ducky’s for a few years now. It’s the only barber shop I’ve been to, and had consistently great haircuts. I’m a USMC veteran so I’ve had many haircuts in many places, but no other place has offered the service and quality I receive here.Joe(my barber) is always on point with exactly what I ask for. He makes you feel as if you are not an expendable client.Jesse(the owner) has high standards with cleanliness and quality of barber. Everybody in the shop will provide you with a clean fade, straight razor shave, and an old school barber shop experience.Cost to quality is exceptional also!Have a refreshment and watch sports while you wait for your chair.

My favorite barbershop in the world. I would highly recommend getting there earlier than you planned because they do not take appointments, only walk-ins on a first come, first serve basis. All the barbers do a great job so I don’t mind sitting down to any of them. I would recommend any hair cut that requires a razor, that’s why I come here. They are all trained with a razor and do a great job. Remember to bring cash because they don’t take card. Also, leave a tip, these guys are great and are well worth coming back to every couple of weeks.

Great place to go. They are authentic so it’s cash only but free beer while you wait and good shop talk. Depending on when you go in l, there is a wait but you can put you name on the list and come back so just plan on that in the later afternoon. Joe or mike always cut my hair and beard. They always do an awesome job and are always welcoming when you come back. I will never go anywhere else again.

Ive been going to duckys barbershop for over a year now. I cant tell enough people how good the barbers are. Why go to super cuts and spend 15 bucks and have your hair ruined!?!? Its only 19 here, cash only though. I guarantee you will like the way your hair is cut.

My cousin Jesse works here so I could be accused of being biased, but Im not, this place is great. All the guys are super talented and the atmosphere is unmatched. They are all masters of the straight razor and will give you the best straight razor shave youve ever had. They even have beer for your wait. If youre going to get your hair cut, it should be here.

If you are in El Cajon and looking for a proper gentlemans haircut: this is the place. I live in La Mesa and normally get cleaned up at Dapper Jays; but the gent at Dapper Jays was booked up for the day and recommended Duckys. That is proper service. Waylon at Duckys gave my skull a perfect razor fade. While I was in the seat, a young boy was getting a cut as well. Very friendly staff who will actually interact with your kids. They only do walk ins so keep that in mind in relation to the time and day you want to drop in. Once again, Duckys does proper haircuts in El Cajon; and I am very selective about where I get hair cut.

Terrible!Saw some nice haircuts come out of here, but mine wasnt one of those unfortunately. The guy that cut my hair had me looking like Howard the Duck. I explained 2 times exactly how i wanted it and he did the complete opposite! Would post a pic but its embarrassing. Looks like Ill be wearing a hat for the next 2 weeks.

I first came here on a recommendation from my brother. Not gonna lie, considering the name, i felt like rapunzel when she walked into the snuggly duckling. I was relieved because they were willing to cut my hair even though i have psoriasis on the back of my head. First time i went i couldnt really give an opinion cause i was too damn amazed at my hair. i let the guy have at it however he wanted, since i wanted to style my hair but have never done it before. Second time they kinda cut off a little too much on the left; they still did a pretty damn good job considering how my cowlicks twist and turn my hair more than the average person. They say third times the charm and this was no exception. I wish i wasnt bad with names cause the oldest man there, which is the one that did my do (i want to say carlos) nailed it with the style, proffesionalism, service, wisdom, and the little extras. Going off of i need a proffesional look for an interview he showed me that, because of my cowlicks, i could comb my hair to whichever way i wanted to. He used tonic, which none of the younger cats there even seemed to know about. Gave me a free little sample of reuzel pomade, which is what he put in my hair, to replace murrays (what i was using at the time). Step by step he was explaining how he was styling my hair so i could do it myself at home. Trimmed my beard perfectly to the point that not even my schools coordinator could complain about me not shaving it. He even went ahead and aligned my eyebrows; i didnt even notice how uneven and bushy they were until he got done with them.TLDR: i came here on a recommendation. The mountain-sized men dont fit the name of the place. Theyll cut your hair even if you have psoriasis (just let them know beforeheand). Theyll fix you up nicely even if you dont know what you want.I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone, even if its a little pricier than other places. ITS WORTH IT
