They care for cats/Dogs to help them find forever home, help with low cost TNR as well. They helped me get most of cats Neutered to bring cat colony and new kitten out upstairs in some control around my apt. Complex.I learned how to set up trap and importance of TNR as well as adoptions through them. Very very helpful staff. Especially Jackie and Amy. Please do visit and adopt your fur baby from Edison Animal shelter.
Adopted 2 cats Dec 2020. Very happy with our 2 new family additions. Their personalities were exactly as described. Plus we were able to take them home the same day! They even loaned us cat carriers that we did return of course. Appreciated the adoption package that included coupons for PetSmart which came in very handy as we had to buy supplies.
This is the epitome of a FIRST RATE operation! I cant imagine finding better people to manage and maintain any facility. What a professional, knowledgeable and courteous staff. Kudos to them all
They now have a huge cat room and it is kept very clean thanks to the wonderful volunteers
The people working there have a terrible attitude. Not very nice.
Me and my family has gotten 4 cats from the place. We love all of them so so much. This place is excellent to get animals because they are well behaved and well taken care of
Excellent service, very friendly staff, good selection of cats and kittens
I called the shelter to help remove a feline carcass this week. Although the lady over the phone wasnt clear about the removal information and didnt ask me for the exact location (since it wasnt a road kill), they successfully found the carcass and removed it. I didnt need to worry about it once I returned home. I was very scared because it was literally by my basement window. Thank you so much whomever helped the animal and me that day!
Nice people helping out the animals
They were very clean & the adoption process was very easy.
Adoption process is simple. Always adopt not shop. In my opinion one of the best places to adopt from.
I was interested in adopting a kitten and filled out an application and never received a response. I went on their Facebook page and found out that the kitten was adopted (even though I was told this kitten was available). I was so upset by the lack of response from this shelter and especially heartbroken that I wasnt given a chance to meet the kitten. If this kitten was adopted, it would of been nice to receive an email!
It was very clean inside, they had a lot of beautiful cats and kittens available to adopt. Most of the dogs they had out of the selection were older dogs. I wasnt going out to buy anything in particular or adopt anything. It was just a nice outing out with the family.I was glad to see that this place is clean and well-kept.
I haven’t gone to this facility but from all the consistent bad reviews I will not come here. I find it crazy how difficult they make it to adopt an animal when they are just gonna euthanize it anyway !! Horrible and you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. I was looking to foster a dog and give it a temporary loving home but with all the high standards you have to meet in order to adopt, I don’t think it will be any different to foster. I also am now understanding why people buy dogs from breeders. This is why no one ends up adopting, you guys set up so much boundaries to adopt/foster, time goes by, no one is “the right fit” and the dog is euthanized. This is why people rather just pay the extra money and not go through all the hassle of the adoption process.
This is the closest shelter to home and we visit them kind of regularly. The place isn’t huge but they always have pets to rescue. The staff is friendly and helpful and really care about the Homes where their pets go. Animals get adopted fast so reach out before you go!
Very clean friendly and didnt rush us out let us mingle with cats very impressed as always
Great place!! I just got a kitten from the shelter. Great people and great animals. The staff was very informative and they really care for the animals. The adoption process is easy and quick. 10/10 recommend.
Friendly staff, very helpful and making sure you find the right furbaby.
Most amazing shelter we have seen. Staff is overly helpful animals are clean well taken care of. Facility is easy to get to with plenty of parking. They dont rush you. You have plenty of time to get a good feel
This is the best place ever! We went to see a kitten that my daughter saw online and fell in love with. We visited and played with him and ended up leaving with him. They said he would be great with other cats. We have 2 others who fight a bit and this little kitten keeps the peace. They even gave us a cardboard carrier and a toy since we were not expecting to leave with him. They were super nice on a fairly busy Sunday and now we have a most amazing addition to our family.
Becky and the Shelter staff are so great! Would highly recommend!
Hi- Not a friendly people. Instead of encouraging adopting, they make sure you not adopt the pets. I never go and recommend this shelter. Hope these folks are replaced with pet and human friendly folks.
I am a Jack Russell lover and it broke my heart to read Chips tale on Petfinder. I decided on Friday, 6/15/18, to pay a visit to the Edison Animal Shelter to see him. He is a beautiful creature and a shelter is no place for him. So I spoke to four staff members and was greeted by such a display of kindness, niceness, genuine care for the animals and politeness that it was dizzying. I told them my story and how much I would care for Chip and I walked out of there less than two hours later with the dog. These people are so nice that you can trust the animals are in the best possible care they could receive. PLEASE visit this shelter and help these poor unfortunate animals. They will appreciate it tenfold. Chip is the most loving, devoted, kind animal Ive ever seen and I wouldnt part with him for any amount of money. He is priceless. Kudos to Debbie and the entire staff at the Edison Shelter. Dilly Dilly.
Adopted two cats from here. Both wonderful and my babies for life. We adopted Katie who was seven years old at the time. Someone adopted her sister which was with her from birth but left her. I thought that was really cruel since their owner had died and wanted them together. But she came into our family and she is the best cat. She made it to 12 but died of kidney failure. We also adopted out a 4 week old kitten we named Cleopatra. She just died this year at 18 1/2. We have also adopted from other shelters as well as abused and sick animals. They make the greatest family and are great with kids. Thank you to this shelter for bringing family to us. As for the bad part please find a way to stop euthanizing this family members who familys dont get a chance to find them yet.
As Im reading these reviews, Im completely in awe. I adopted a female calico kitten back in December 2017. Her name was Merlina which I changed to Milly, we love her and my experience at this faculty was very professional. The staff was very intuitive about whom adopted their animals. Not a big selection on small aged kittens, but please remember cats normally mate around spring and summer. So when looking to adopt keep that in mind when searching for your feline.
Go here if youre in the Edison area if youre looking for a new pet. They have SO MANY animals that need a good home. A plethora of cats, both younger and older. Dogs that will make your heart melt. If youre renting an apartment please bring a copy of your lease agreement.
We recently adopted a puppy from the Edison Municipal Shelter and we are so happy with the entire experience. This is a truly top notch shelter. The shelters manager, Kirstin, is awesome!!! She was so helpful throughout the entire process and you could definitely tell that she is 100% committed to the shelter. She has a big heart for all the animals there. The shelter is very clean and the animals are well taken care of. Please keep up the wonderful job! I would highly recommend this shelter to anyone who is interested in adopting. Thanks Kirstin and the staff for all that you do for these animals. Keep up the GREAT work!
Bring renovated soon. Mostly large dogs a very few small ones when we went. Very helpful volunteers.
The shelter is not really big and you cant find a big selection of animals and depending on the period you may see only few of them. The staff is really friendly and professional, ready to give you lots of information and advices. Depending on what you are looking for, they try to put you in contact with other shelters or rescue facilities where its very likely that you can find more pets with specific characteristics. They provide cardboard cages to carry your pet home or you can borrow a normal cage. All the cats have a microchip implanted and they are covered by a first round of essential vaccinations.
Very nice and I felt comfortable knowing my cat was going to get adopted out
I would love to buy a cat, but my mom is asking how much will it cost? Can you please answer ASAP I really need a nice little cat ^-^
My friend adopted a wonderful puppy from here. The facility is great and all the animals are very well taken care off!! They even gave her a welcome package for the new puppy. All the staff was overly accommodating and friendly. I am surprised some of the reviews here - this is an above average shelter in my opinion with great volunteers who are doing an outstanding job with this place!
An amazing place, if you are looking for a responsible adoption, consider on visiting them. They are really helpful and they will explain all the process and make sure you will be satisfied with your new best friend.
I dont know why I just walked in and said I wanted to look at these cute cats, they criticized international students for being irresponsible, even Im not a student!I talked to them nicely and obeyed all the rules and filled out all the forms. They said the only thing I needed to do was to email them my lease agreement. BUT they suddenly rejected me for no real reason the next day. Im feeling so sad
Went to drop off donations, rudely ignored by the manager. I tried to mention a few things to her but she point blank looked at me and looked away..However the kennel needs help along with the strong foul smell of cat urine, the runs for the dogs are rusty, they have razor sharp edges that can slice a paw, leg or hand wide open.. The walls are loose and wobbly. It is a safety hazard for both staff and animal.... Kennel needs a serious renovation.... It looks like Helen Keller put it together.. Its literally falling apart.. I feel awful for the dogs who are stuck in these kennels from hell.
I volunteer with a cat rescue and I have been working at a site for almost a year, and I must say how happy I am to deal with Amy at your shelter. She is kind and organized and a pleasure.
Drove an hour away toadopt a specific pair of kittens that my mom and I fell in love with after our at least 6 month search for the perfect pair. Staff was friendly and the facility was well maintained. You can tell they actually care about the animals. The process was quicker than I would have ever expected all questions answered and we were able to walk out with one beautiful little girl kitten and are returning for our original pair at the end of the week. We couldnt be any happier with the staff and our new FurEver babies.
We adopted our cat, Abby, from the Edison Animal Shelter. Best decision ever. They made the process easy and we were able to visit and spend time with Abby before making our decision.
Update: After hanging up on both my girlfriend and I, this excuse for an animal shelter tried to register us on the Do Not Adopt list out of a sense of spite. The next shelter we went to had to fight with the DNA listing against what she considered a fraudulent registry. Not only are these women bullies, but theyll actively try and bar you from adopting any animals at all after they disrespect you. This place should be closed. Save your time and go to sayreville.Kirsten, the manager, was incredibly rude to my girlfriend and I. She and her clerk bailed on an appointment we made, then were rude to us over the phone - they even hung up on us! They topped it off by denying our application for a sweet cat that had begun to bond with us. What kind of person is so spiteful that they keep an animal in a shelter? The manager, apparently.Do yourself a favor and dont bother - they want to keep the animals there. Honestly they were rude to us from the moment we stepped foot in that place, and we were still willing to deal with it to give that cat a home. These people shouldnt be allowed near animals.
Hi- I Visited this place. I don’t likes their treating us. Looks like, this place should have a people with diversity colors. They made sure they not adopt any pet by me. You might be demotivated, after talking to them and loose interest on adopting any pets. I visited to other shelter and adopted from Franklin adoption center. I request, folks can visit to other animal shelter to get adopt any pet. I wasted my time visiting this place.
Friendly staff willing and happy to help with every step of your adoption. So happy I was able to adopt my pup from here!
I’m surprised by some of these reviews. I recently adopted a dog from Edison Animal Shelter. My second adoption from here. The staff was great, nice, friendly. Dana, one of the staff who took care of the dogs, answered all questions I had about the dogs. Told me about their personalities and so forth. She was patient and took good care of the dogs. Another gentleman, who’s name eludes me, brought the dogs to the play area. Asked questions about what kind of dog we wanted and what would be a great fit for us. He was also very patient. He allowed us to take our time with the dogs we were interested in. Now to Kristen that has been getting some bad reviews. I had a complete opposite experience that some reviewers have had. She was really nice. When she called to go over my application she also took the time to educate me on the care of our new family member. Which was not only informative but eye opening . Even recommended a vet when I told her how unhappy I was with mine. As I said before, this is my second time adopting from them and both times have been good experiences. So if you’re looking for a new companion, friend, family member, I recommend you come and take a look here. Thanks again to Kristen for helping to keep my new dog healthy and to Dana for taking such good care of him and all the staff at Edison Animal Shelter.
I have been to this shelter a few times and the volunteers I met were very nice and seemed to be very caring towards the animals. It is hard to keeps a shelter perfectly clean all the time but they seemed to be doing a reasonable job. It is much better than when I visited a few years ago.
I adopted my dog here and we couldnt be happier. I understand all the mixed reviews here. Kirsten the manager is a really nice person when you see her face to face and she cares deeply who adopts the animals under her care since they were abandoned in the first place. Its true she is sometimes abrupt over the phone but keep in mind they very busy with not enough staffing and many of them are volunteers. Before adopting my cocapoo I have visited many shelters and by far this was the cleanest and the most professional.
This place is great, I highly recommend it if you are looking to adopt. It is a small shelter, very clean and the animals are very well cared for. Everyone was so nice and helpful, best of all you can tell that the people there really care about the animals. I adopted a senior cat, Kiki who had been there for close to a year. She is super affectionate, very social, it is obvious they have taken very good care of her including lots of interaction and love. No more cages for Kiki girl.
Spare yourself either to surrender your animal or adopt .The employees are cold and rude and have no personal skills . . If you are looking to be noble and adopt, they will quickly turn that sentiment around and make you feel like dog poo. Be careful with your questions because I had the good sense to ask what the recourse was if I could no longer care for the animal and I was disqualified from adopting . If your animal is there then G-d be with it as the conditions are on par with a third world country after an earth quake . No Air Conditioning, no pillows for the animals .You can count on them being there for a loooooooong time . They average a whopping 2 adoptions(including all animals, rabbits too) per week and the manager has the high and mighty view that she is the gate keeper of all abandoned animals and must find the perfect home for all ......... until she doesnt and has to euthanize them .Should be renamed The reason no one adopts
This Shelter may be small but every time I go there the animals are well cared for, feed, and groomed. You always see the Volunteers walking the dog and playing with them. A few of my friends have adopted cats from Edison and they said they are the best cats they ever had very healthy and friendly. My overall experience with the Edison Animal Shelter has been amazing and I will continue to adopt my pets from them and refer them to friends.
Was there recently and one of the ladies was very rude..... didnt give me to much or any history on the small dog i wanted. Was politely told an animal is for animal lovers and i wasnt one???? Wow... after we drove to FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP ANIMAL SHELTER 25 minutes away and was greated politely and EDUCATED on what was a fit for me and my wife and the house we live in. Stay away from this place in Edison..... animals are lovable but that one stay member is RUDE
Ive swung by a few times to donate some food and everyone is always nice and happy to let me walk around and say hi to all the animals. I was most recently there this weekend when it was over 90 degrees outside and i was happy to see that the dog and cat enclosures were comfortably air conditioned. Every time Ive been there I can say that everything has been clean, all the animals have food and clean water. They even keep a little bucket of treats by each animal to give them.
Great place & staff! I just adopted a kitten there and couldnt be happier. The cages are cleaned regularly and they really take the time to get their animals in good health before making them available for adoption. Multiple volunteers and staff provided me on the backgrounds of most of the cats there and its horrible what some of them have been through before ending up in Edison Municipals care. I would highly recommend adopting from this shelter.
Since new manager Kirsten the place is tip top. Very happy experience. She really cares about the animals as i was treated very well. And so are the cats i saw.
Absolutely great. Took a minute to get all the paperwork done. Besides that, which is inevitable, zero complaints or issues. Even gave me 2 harnesses for my pup since we knew hes gonna grow. Very considerate. Shouldve came here to adopt a dog from the beginning.
I am very disappointed and very upset about this shelter. A little over a year ago, I was looking to adopt just one cat but I had fallen in love with an adorable pair. My fiancé and I decided if we should get them or not, but in the end, we could not forget them. The lady that was helping us on that day was very helpful and very kind. Unfortunately, I do not have her name. We were told that my cats were tested negative for feline leukemia. Just recently, both of my cats have passed away due to feline leukemia. My fiancé and I were heartbroken. Not only did the Edison Animal Shelter lie to us but they also gave us sick cats. If you do not a sick animal, please dont come here. Theres also this really rude older lady that has absolutely no emotions or sympathy. We will never come back here again.
While I didn’t adopt a pet here, the staff here were very helpful in the process of adopting one in the future and even went as far as to give me advice on what breed might be best suited for us.
Two separate kittens on different occasions that I have adopted from this shelter have died within 24 hours from distemper, died suffering in my arms... It was heartbreaking. This was over a year ago but I still hear bad things about this shelter so I dont know if anything has changed. Staff was very rude and mean when confronted with this. I was out over 600 dollars in vet bills, adoption fees, and still no kitten.will never adopt from here again, I will not risk bringing a deadly illness home to my own animals nor do I want anymore pain and heartache from trying to do a good thing, adopting from a high kill shelter
I have adopted a cat from this shelter, and I will adopt another most likely. I think that, contrary to what others have posted, the employees of this shelter are doing their best on the part of the animals. Yes, it is overpopulated but thats not the fault of the employees. I often see volunteers/employees outside with the dogs giving them exercise. I am not a pit bull fan but these people are obviously always on the side of the animal, even when it is a pit bull. Furthermore they just put in a dog run so the dogs could get some exercise. I feel the Edison shelter is a sympathetic, compassionate place.
We went for pet and found not a good place to go and I don’t like them and their behavior. We adopted from different center.
This was the worst shelter ever they made me wait forever for an ugly sick cat, and the people dont even know when things are happening, 2 ladies said completely different days to me. I recommend no one ever goes to this shelter unless you want a rabies infected std cat
I just adopted a kitten from this shelter yesterday. The staff was very pleasant, polite, and professional. The animals seemed well-treated and the place seemed clean and not crowded. My kitten came spaded, tested for various diseases, and possibly vaccinated. (I adopted from the same shelter 6 years ago, and my cat didnt come spaded). All this, plus lots of food, medical history, a free nail clipping, and lots of coupons and advice for just $75, part of which goes to the shelter, the rest of which goes to the black hole of government or something (I dont know). Plus now there are cool solar panels on the roof!
Extremely friendly staff, relatively painless adoption process, well taken care of animals
Lots of cute, well behaved dogs, cats, rabbits, and other pets up for adoption
Took care of my dog when I love him very nice front receptionist
I came resently to donate a large box of dog treats, the women there was not very upbeat nor happy. I took it to be simply be work that was keeping her down but when I walked into the dog rooms the dogs there looked very unstable and defiantly not fit for adoption.Ive trained dogs in the past and some defiantly had aggression problems. They should not be among the ones eligable for adoption. We were also told very strictly not to put our hands near them, indicating that they would bite. I regret donating the treats as I do not see them going to the dogs.
Horrible the manager spreads HATE. she seems like an unhappy lady that doesnt have kids. I feel very sorry for her because she has an attitude towards co- workers, you can tell no body likes her there but they cant say anything . Im not going to say dont adopt from here because the poor animals dont have nothing to do with the person that is running this place but if you do go.. be ready for an awkward vibe. Have a great one people and stay away from people like this!🤗
Come see the shelter for yourself as some reviews posted here are untrue. Our dogs do have large outdoor runs so they can get fresh air and are rotated throughout the day. We do occasionally have to decline adoption applications so those people will of course post negative reviews. The shelter is clean, the cats do not have rabies and we do not adopt out sick animals...the vet comes weekly in fact. Our animals are loved and taken very good care of while in our care. Check out the Facebook page, Edison Animal Shelter. Hours posted on Google are incorrect.
***** Do not go to this shelter - management is very rude - avoiding to contact - refusal for adoption without logical reasoning - puppy was healthy one week .. next week contracted kennel cough *****I went to visit EAS after visiting several other animal shelters ISO a puppy/dog for adoption. After falling in love with a puppy and being told to wait a week by a very nasty/rude staff member I wasnt contacted.- FULL REVIEW on Friends of the Edison Animal Shelter Facebook page. -(this is the second half of my experience)A week passes and no email/call. I checked junk mail and everything. Nothing. My father and I decide to drop in and visit without warning.. At my arrival I see Topaz on a walk outside with a different volunteer. We bypass Topaz and the woman because at the time we were unsure if she was looking to adopt or working for the shelter. Inside the volunteer from last time remembered us. She was questioning why we were back/what the problem was (clearly out of the loop). I then mention I never got contacted back about Topaz and wanted to see what the issue was. She looks alarmed and confused. Kirsten never contacted them. She says to another worker behind the desk who makes a face that implies this isnt unusual or out of Kirstens nature. She says Ill check the file. Theres no reasons she wouldnt have given her to you. Youre young and energetic. You have a full schedule for her. I remember Topaz took to you.Opens Topazs file - no paperwork. She starts shuffling around through other folders/stacks of paper and finds mine somewhere else. On the top right corner of the pager it read No - Topaz needs other dogs So she turns to me and says Your boyfriend has dogs and your friends had dogs? My dad then answers Yes, Topaz will never be alone or without animals. She then starts reviewing my paperwork and says Its so strange. Theres no reason she shouldve rejected you. Topaz was a great fit for you. She then takes a sticky note and rewrites on it about other dogs/free time. She apologizes for the inconvenience and says its not up to her but she wouldve let me leave with Topaz last week if she could. (**Topaz now has kennel cough as well and will need to finish her medication before adopting her out.) They mention Kirsten returns the following day and if I dont get a call in the AM then to call in the afternoon. And - yes - just as you expected no phone call by 3PM. I call around 3:15PM and Im then told, again, Kirsten isnt there and to call back in an hour. The shelter closes at 4PM.By 4:10PM Kirsten calls and leaves me a voice mail saying:“Hi Jacqui my name is Kirsten calling from the shelter. Um, I guess you never received my email. Sorry I cannot um uh approve your adoption for Topaz. Uhh its just not a good match for what she needs, okay? Um. So. Its a denial. Alright. Thank you. Bye bye.I have never felt more offended and personally targeted by someone. I’m not sure what type of profiling system she uses to find a “good fit” to adopt animals. I just simply dont understand what type of person would VOLUNTARILY keep a dog/puppy in a shelter and REFUSE a perfectly good fit! The volunteers I met were wonderful, cheerful, educated and inviting.. A few of the staff members I did interact with were neutral or spoke to me with respect. The shelter was clean.. just unfortunately not organized or professional in my opinion.**Keeping the puppy there a week longer and continuing to have it interact with another puppy that is ILL and ALSO contracted kennel cough sounds simply unprofessional and like the animals best interest isnt kept
Small place, but the facility was clean and the animals cared for. I walked in on opening time the day after they they were closed for the day. All animals had food and water, and clean cages/pens. They gave full disclosure of the animals I asked about both positive and negative (health and ailments, diet restrictions, ect). I left with a new pet.
Called about stray cats roaming my apartment complex. Most cats look injured and hiss at guests. Very rude staff interaction over the phone. No information provided and essentially rushed the conversation to hang up saying to deal with it. Quality animal control.
We are going to adopt a kitten from there, very nice and recommendable place. The people working there are very helpful and lovely.
The manager is an EXTREMELY rude human being. I feel sorry for the poor little animals because she is not very welcoming. Im not going to say dont visit here because the little guys looking for a home do not have fault but be aware that this is woman is miserable. I dont know what she is going through in her personal life so all I can say is she needs prayers.
Just went in to try to check cats, the staff told me their cats are sick, and the cat section is closed temporarily. There were few dogs in cages, randomly stacked on the floor; I was in and out in two minutes, couldnt breathe, imagine all the animals and everything that need to be washed + zero air circulation. Horrific stench, terrible environment. No wonder their cats are sick, I cant imagine any living organism living there. Poor animals :(
Staff here are extremely rude, and are racists. A middle-aged fat women explicitly refused to provide us any adoption information based on the sole ground that we are not natives, with, as she claimed, a small probability of leaving the US. What a shame! You are a disgrace to this profession.
Denied my 9 yr old a kitten . she was crushed she had been waiting for a cat as bday for her 10th bday since she was 8.
The staff are nice and friendly. The cage is clean.
Kind staff. Easy adoption.
Sepember 2014: Cant say enough about how wonderful this place is. We adopted Scout in September and he was obviously well cared for and trained. He continues to do so well in our home. He is very affectionate and smart. We just love him to pieces and will be forever grateful to EAS for the care he received with them.Update April 2016: we returned to EAS in March to adopt a cat. My daughter and I fell in love with one and spent some time in the play area with her. The next day, my daughter convinced my husband to come with us. I was very proud of how patient my daughter was, waiting her turn for the attendants attention while she helped a couple for about 20 minutes. When I told the attendant we were there to play with the cat again, she snapped that the play area is only for people who were serious about adopting. I stammered that we were there to make that decision. She told us she would put us in the play area, but if someone else came along who was serious, we would have to leave. After observing for a while, my husband agreed to adopting the cat. We called the attendant and made plans to move forward with the adoption. Moving out to the waiting area, I observed a man bring in a stray cat. He told the director (Kirsten) that he found it in his yard. She told him curtly that she doesnt have room for another cat (some of the kennels I saw could have been modified to accommodate more cats). When the stunned man asked her he was supposed to do with the cat, she told him to let it go. She then turned to us and asked to speak to us privately. Once we were alone, she pointedly asked my husband if he was OK with this. He replied honestly that hes not an animal person, but willing to go through with this. Kirsten then insisted that we bring our dog in for a cat test. I readily agreed, having no qualms about my dogs personality. When I brought Scout back for the test, the cat we were interested in had been spayed the day before. Obviously in pain, comments were made about about how scared Scouts presence was making her. Scout acted like a normal dog to me. He sniffed the cage, barked at the cat once or twice, and whined. He was curious about the cat and in no way acted in a threatening manner. Kirsten decided that this was not acceptable and denied our application. I asked her why, and she asked who would be responsible when my dog puts the cat in the hospital. It needs to be noted that Scout has not shown aggression towards any person or animal ever, and has been in my mothers house with her cat and no problems. Kirsten then said that it wasnt the only problem. I asked what the other problem was and she yelled at me that my husband doesnt even like animals. I told her that he never had a pet until Scout and obviously he likes them enough to let them live in his house and take care of them. This did not convince her and I left with my crying daughter. I sat in the car a few minutes and went back in, asking her to tell me that theres no way these two animals could live together. She said, I dont know, Im not a dog trainer. I asked, Well then why are you in charge of a shelter???. She told me there was no way I would get a cat from her and to leave. I grew up with animals my whole life. I have a good job to provide for my family, a good house, and children who love animals. Never once was I given the opportunity to explain my plans for integrating the two animals. When we adopted Scout, I was worried we wouldnt be good enough. Now I know we are. I no longer feel the same was about EAS under Kirstens dictatorship. Many people I know adopted from there after my rave reviews of Scout. I guess Kirsten would be happier having outside contractors make their animals disappear (as told to me by several EPD officers, since I grew up there and know people) than give them loving homes.
I got my pet kitten there and fell in love!! the fee is so reasonableee
Looking for a cat. Very clean place.
My butt itches
The 4 cats they have are at a Petco, where they have a no petting policy. Really? 😡
This shelter is horrible.. Some staff are very rude. They misunderstood something in our application and when we called them to clear it out they tell us that we should adopt a cat from somewhere else.
Very friendly
Seems dirty to me and outdated Im sorry but it really does maybe not enough funding or workers
Ive never actually been to this animal shelter, but i was taking the train the other day and when it passed the shelter there were dogs in cages outside, this was a 20 degree day and they were leaving dogs outside...
Donated Biscuits ❣️
I make donations of towels, blankets and whatever can be used!!!
Friendly staff. Small selection.
Th¹
Ridiculously rude
Needs more animals
Not very friendly
Very clean.
Friendly people.
