Beware ! I have been to several Nystrom offices. This is by far the worst. The staff is not friendly or particularly helpful. Dont really seem to care about you at all. Warning about Dr. Sonya Schroeder! A very arrogant provider. As soon as she introduced herself said she would not be prescribing the meds I was currently on because she said Im not going to give you want you want. Want? Just wanted to continue the current successful routine that was prescribed by another Nystrom provider. Accused me of *doctor shopping. Had she looked at my records of the decade I was there she would see I only changed when mine left or retired. Horrible appointment just shuffled papers and typed on her computer. She was very argumentative and dismissing. Walked out in tears. This was a med provider intake not a therapy appointment. Bad experience so I requested another provider. She refused to let me see another doctor. Since I had a therapist and dietitian at Nystrom I want to stay in their system.. I filed a complaint but the medical director backed her up. This one person caused severe life interference in 20 minutes midigating several years of successful treatments. Only one word left...Done

Administration was incredibly unpleasant do deal with, namely Leah Riesgraf. Ive never been spoken to so rudely; her demeanor was incredibly condescending. Although the provider (Jacob) I saw was kind, respectful, and understanding, I do not think I can come back to place knowing she is in charge. Very disappointed.

I’ve been going to the Eden Prairie location for 2 years. I’ve had great successes with psychological testing, medication management and therapy. I’ve had my son see them for the same things with successful outcomes. I’ve had 3 different insurances so far and there’s never been any billing issues. I cannot stress it enough- awesome providers, great staff-all around great!

Where is the half star?Ive worked with Nystrom for 10 months now and have to say everything I feared is true. This is a huge company that only cares about the bottom line, and will up sell other services regardless of a clients needs. Its their way or the highway, and they refuse to understand that all humans have unique needs. This is a common trend with large companies, and if it works for you then this might be an okay choice. HOWEVER, they dont understand how to bill for anything and when everything hits the fan its on YOU the client to fix it or pay up.They do have some good employees, who do wish to help those in need. Sadly, having hands tied behind your back so that you cannot do anything other than what you are told makes getting patients help rather hard. If you want the run of the mill experience, and dont mind paying twice what you should while stressing over your bills, go here. If you want a unique experience that can be tailored to your needs, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Customer service is terrible. They cant or wont provide a straight answer to basic questions - you will get a different answer from different people for the same question. Their prior authorization department is so bad that Im looking to change providers because of it. Every year I need a prior authorization for a med and EVERY year they drop the ball so I have to spend hours going back and forth with insurance and Nystrom because Nystrom doesnt follow up themselves. They have never called me back to follow up despite saying they will on each occasion.I dont have complaints about the care other than the fact that they really like to push expensive medications that likely wont be covered by insurance. Unfortunately, the awful customer service experiences and their worthless prior auth dept. has me at the point where Id rather roll the dice with another provider.

My actual service is fantastic in terms of counseling, but my service when it comes to scheduling and billing is horrendous. My provider is crazy overburdened, with him being over a month booked out as of today. I get told over and over again that I will be given a call if anything opens up (both by him, and the front desk), and Ive never gotten results unless I call myself and ask every day for openings. Ive also had appointments cancelled because my bills werent paid, and after sitting on the phone for a full 40 minutes, it was discovered that the billing department messed up, that my payment went through, and that I couldnt have my appointment (not even the last 20 minutes remaining). An attempt to schedule an emergency appointment at one point also turned out to be a 2 week wait, which is ridiculously long in terms of an emergency

A variety of members from our family have worked with different therapists over the years for things from depression and anxiety, to ADHD testing and coping skills, to navigating major health crises. The therapists have been very helpful, and we have appreciated the opportunity given to incorporate faith into our healing journeys. We would recommend Nystrom to our family and friends without question.

The therapists Ive worked with have been amazing! Too bad the billing issues have been so incredibly taxing on my mental health that its not worth continuing to seek therapy here. Ive spent countless hours on the phone trying to get them to fix billing issues for the past year, and nobody returns my calls or fixes anything. It feels like theyre trying to keep my mental health crippled so I have to continue seeking therapy.

Keeping some other comments I saw here in mind just want to say if you have insurance like Medicaid or really good mental health coverage I would highly recommend this place. Ive gone through IOP extensively here as well as one on one drug and alcohol counseling, psychological, and psychiatry appointments usually 8+ times a month for the latter 3, and honestly for people who struggle with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues, I think Nystrom turned out to be way better than what I thought it would be from the reviews (I was super apprehensive before I started due to those poor reviews). I actually really recommend this place especially for those in that same addiction recovery boat. Some counselors are better than others that is true, but my main IOP 3x a week counselor was amazing and got me out of a really stuck, depressed, and anxietal state, same with my psychologist. They do truly care and have helped me start reaching goals and also continue pushing me to further goals and dreams. Again sucks for those who have poor insurance but if you have Medicaid like I do for now, Id definitely give this place a shot for sure!

I have been to Nystrom at my request for 3 months now and I have been here before for Chemical Dependency. I requested Nystrom for there excellent therapy that has kept me sober before. I have been to a few Outside Treatment programs and Nystrom is unique and the only one that provides mental health support in our group sessions.DBT skills are extremely helpful recovery tools and the mental health provider and CD counselor are a great Team together. I have been told by my previous CD counselors and therapists that mental health and CD recovery go together hand and fist and it is great to see Nystrom is again ahead of the situation.

I’ve been with Nystrom for over 2 years. I attended high intensity therapy after being at rehab for 30 days and I found that group to be supportive and useful- basically the meetings were branching off of what I learned in rehab. I’m now in weekly Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) group. Lindsey is one of the lead therapists and she is INCREDIBLE. A great way to learn life long coping skills and strategies. Alexa is also great- thanks ladies for contributing to my journey in sobriety! ❤️

These people are thieves. My doctor is nice. She got me in and out quickly, and the medication adjustment she made has proven to be quite helpful. This is not her fault. But you should absolutely NOT book here if you are uninsured.I have been to ONE appointment and already owe over one thousand dollars. The first $500 was expected, but a couple weeks later I got a surprise charge for over $600 for a diagnostic procedure I didnt even ask for, and as far as I remember never underwent. The original (exorbitant) fee I paid was supposed to cover all the intake paperwork as well as the initial appointment, so as far as I can tell, this charge is a scam.As I work in customer service, this most recent bill takes up an entire 2-week paycheck. I cannot afford to pay without jeopardizing my living expenses. However, due to my mental health condition, going unmedicated is almost worse than being homeless. These people are dishonest swindlers who target the vulnerable and desperate. They hide behind mountains of paperwork and smiling, oblivious staff members. Do not touch them unless you have good insurance.

I came to Nystrom for my childs anxiety/sleeping issues. What a mess this place is... where do I begin!First, its a patient mill - starting with the reception area which has a row of at least 5 receptionists crammed so close to one another that their elbows are touching, all looking like harried college kids working at a call center, wearing headsets and talking super fast so they can process the high volume of customers... not to mention the patient waiting area, set up like an airport gate for big international flights.Second, their phone lines are clearly outsourced to some poor rural area - phone reps sound uneducated and audibly sigh or click their tongues with annoyance at everything you say.Third, they make you sign up for a e-document system that does. not. work. Ever. But it sure emails you a lot of reminders! Multiple reminders for each appointment, multiple reminders to add other healthcare providers or update your profile, plus notifications that you have new documents uploaded - and yet not a single document ever loads.Fourth, extracting your records is impossible. I switched to another provider only to find out that it takes them 10 business days to fax the new provider our patient assessment. When I tried to expedite, the phone rep could not reach anyone at the actual office so I am left with no ability to get my records which with the holidays delays my appointments by a month, ugh.As far as our therapist, she was... fine. Didnt really have any good practical suggestions but perhaps there was not enough time before we left.

I’ve been going here to 6-7 years. This is the type of place that would throw you out mid appointment for having your payment not go through. They will let you withdraw for weeks telling you to goto the emergency room for meds bc you have no money for them. They are consistently worse with customer service then Comcast ever was. They are FOR PROFIT ONLY! I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy. The doctor I see is the only reason I stayed but it’s not enough anymore.

Their Adolescent DBT 20 week program literally saved my teenage daughters life and has been a huge help to me too. Suicide, depression, anxiety, and self-harm have been her struggles and nothing else worked until we came here. This program is well run and comprehensive including:-individual weekly therapy for her-individual weekly therapy for myself-24 hour therapy help line-a weekly 2 hour group session learning life-saving emotional and interpersonal management skills with other parents and teens going through the same issues. We have experienced 2 other DBT programs that dont hold a candle to this one. I am so thankful for this program and would recommend it to everyone.

My PA showed no empathy whatsoever. I was going through some serious physical medical problems and he never uttered so much as a sorry to hear that. Also, I was drug tested, although I have NO history of illegal drug use. I felt like a criminal. He refused to see me anymore because I was prescribed a controlled substance by my neurologist and he said he wouldnt treat me if I was on this drug. This is caring for your patients mental health?!? He made me feel like a drug addict and thats all he cared about. So happy I dont have to see that cold, uncaring man ever again.

Review №28

This review pertains to the Nystrom & Associates location in Eden Prairie, specifically. I routinely go to the Duluth office and everyone is consistently fantastic, however, they currently do not provide neuropsychological testing at this time. I was in a car accident several years ago, at which time I sustained a severe concussion. I noticed cognitive changes over the years and asked to be set up with some testing to address said deficits. I was told it would require four appointments in Eden Prairie: an intake session, two three-hour testing sessions and a results session. Eden Prairie is two hours from my home, and I am a full time student with 60+ hours per week in commitments, so finding time for these appointments was challenging enough. The intake appointment went well, as did the first testing session. Due to how early the testing sessions were, I took it upon myself to stay in town the night before so I could get a good nights sleep (I have issues with insomnia). I arrive for my second testing session and apparently the tester, Amy, had called in that morning. They apparently tried to contact me. My phone shows they called an hour before, which wouldn’t have mattered either way because I would have been halfway through my drive if I hadn’t stayed in town. No one apologized for the inconvenience, they simply had me wait for a scheduler to be available. Rescheduling this appointment was met with absolutely no flexibility on their offices’ end. Apparently, Amy wasn’t able to fit me in on a day that would better suit me so I had to miss a whole day of my clinical hours to come back. I was irritated at this point and didn’t want to come back for the results session, but have them mailed to me instead. Apparently this was a big issue and the scheduler didn’t think they would be able to accommodate me. I left pretty miffed, asked if I could speak to an office manager, but one was not available. A week passes, I complete my testing, and we revisit the results appointment. Again, I tell her after the previous weeks debacle, I want the results mailed so I am not driving four hours round trip for an hour or less of information. Again, this is made to seem like a very inconvenient choice for them, and that she could but it wouldn’t be an official copy, just a draft. I said fine, send the results and I will set a tentative appointment in case I have questions. I want to reiterate that on more than one occasion, it was communicated to me that the results take TWO weeks to generate. So, it is getting closer and closer to this tentative appointment (set for 3/5/18), no results. I finally call on Thursday the 1st, and apparently Amy had only finished them two days previous so I would not be getting my results before my appointment, thus kind of forcing my hand to actually go to this appointment as I was becoming impatient and wanted to know what was going on already. Well, come this morning, the day of the results, I go to leave my house at 7:30 (appointment at 10) and I am having car issues. My husband is at work so I cannot take his. I call down there and explain, but apparently my appointment was cancelled on their end because Amy called in sick AGAIN. The gal claims I should have gotten a phone call. Look in my call history, no call exists. I am livid and frustrated to no end. I should mention, on the call I made Thursday, I asked to have the office manager call me to explain my frustrations but this was really the final straw. I could have gone anywhere for testing, decided to use their office and this is how they treat patients? My time and money is obviously of no importance. I will probably never get these goddamn results at this rate. I will never, EVER, set foot in the Eden Prairie office again.

Nystrom is everything that is wrong with healthcare in this country. They show more care towards billing than people. When I visited, the only seat available was right next to the prescription window, so I heard every medication people were getting. Unprofessionalism on the highest level possible. But they sure dont miss a beat when sending you an astronomical bill for worthless care.

I was a long-term patient, but I just got tired of the place. Back in the day, I got the feeling that they maybe cared about their patients. However, within the past two years, it has become less about the patient, and more about how many patients they can squeeze into a day and how much they can charge for services.I absolutely loved my doctor, but I became tired of the silly policies, inflexibility, and being treated like a nameless, faceless person who is only there to increase their bottom line. Their get em in, get em out, NEXT! revolving door approach has resulted in doctors with no time between patients to read their own notes, no time after meeting with a patient to update their notes, and allowing a twenty minute appointment to dwindle down to about 10 minutes of actual discussion because theyre busy reviewing old notes & typing new notes while youre trying to talk to them. When someones lifestyle is dependent upon medication, is it really possible to thoroughly assess how well that medication is or isnt working or make tweaks to that medication or change that medication entirely within 10 minutes?Lastly, two other things that really irked me...1. When a patient comes to you seeking talk therapy, having a therapist who yawns throughout your entire appointment or hurries you out the door 10 minutes before the actual end of your appointment so they can update their notes because their next patients appointment starts in 10 minutes only solidifies the fact that Im not a person... Instead, Im made to feel as though Im a boring idiot who is there only to bill an insurance company.AND 2. Their collections department is a bit of a joke. They harassed me endlessly & insisted I owed them money. After a long discussion with someone in collections, she realized they had erroneously charged me for two appointments with the same doctor on the same day. I was then told my account had been fixed, and I didnt need to worry about. Fast forward about 2-3 months... I was again getting harassing phone calls, this time threatening to send me to a collections agency, terminating my service, etc., only to find *again* after much discussion that no one took the erroneous charge off my account as was promised.I just couldnt take it anymore, and based on my observations, I didnt see any improvements coming any time soon. I left, and have happily found a different clinic that views its patients as people instead of dollar signs.

Awful communication between front desk phone-answerers and physicians and insurance. Have had to pay hundreds and hundreds for my medication because my psychiatrist sends things in too late, and never tells me when I can expect things to be done. Zero consideration for the fact that people are dependent upon their psych meds to live and function on a daily basis. The absolute worst physicians office I have ever gone to. Today phone calls wont even go through so I cant remind them about my urgent prescription that I NEED and have been promised to be prescribed by various front desk people for WEEKS. Will be looking for a new psychiatrist ASAP. If youre reliant on antidepressants to function and cant pay hundreds for them yourself, please do not becom a client here. You will regret it.

I wish I could write about their actual counseling services, but they wouldnt even let me get that far. They refuse to do an intake if you dont have someone to watch your kid for the initial appt, and as a single parent with no family in the area this is not an option for me. I didnt have anyone to watch my kid so Her Highness Dr. Ingrid wouldnt even let me make an intake appointment, after much phone tag with the receptionist trying to see if the doctor would allow it.They must not really be interested in helping kids if they cant even work with you on that one basic issue.

Because I was NOT WITHIN 24 hours (only 23 hours!) they dropped me as a client. Expect to wait a long time for your nurse practitioner- excuse me, I mean Doctor to see you. Apparently its ok for them to be late but not you. Now I have to start this process all over again. They do not care about your mental health. They are only in this for the profit.
