I’ve been searching for apartments for what feels like AGES. I’m a transfer student from Oakland University and am not super familiar with the area and wanted to make sure I chose the perfect place to call home for my next 2 years. I toured with the Leasing Manager, Kaylie, and I knew right away that 25 East was the one…when you know, you know! I can’t say enough good things about this property. It has all of the amenities I could ever ask for, a small homey feel, and a staff that goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. If you’re looking for housing, I would definitely recommend touring with 25 East!!!

Overall, I have enjoyed my one-year residency at 25 East. There have been minor apartment maintenance issues over my stay (i.e toilet overflowing, coolant leak from AC), but the maintenance team has been incredible with responding quickly and with proper treatment. I would recommend 25 East to a friend.

I have lived at 25 East for 3 years, now going on my fourth this fall. I originally lived in a 2 bedroom apartment and LOVED IT. It was the perfect size for two first time renters. I even had my own private bathroom which was amazing after sharing a bathroom with my younger brother my whole life. I recently transferred to a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment so that I could live with a few more friends. The living space is HUGE. Some of my favorite things about the community are the resident events, friendly staff, and surrounding nature trails!

25 East instantly stood out to my roommate and I when we went apartment hunting a year ago, and we could not be happier that we decided to live here. The community is wonderful, the staff is dedicated, and our apartment itself is absolutely worth the price (which is one of the lowest we found in the area). We renewed to stay less than 4 months into our first lease term, and I can see us staying here for quite awhile!

Good price for what you receive. Maintenance is by far the best I’ve had at any apartment (very quick and friendly). One of them even takes off his shoes when we ask! Leasing staff are helpful when they answer the phone. Amenities are great as well. Parking in Building 1 is not the best because everyone tends to park there from other buildings. The rooms and bathrooms have a bit of leftover grime and the occasional waft of weed is present but overall the experience is good. The community is friendly, theres a path behind the apartments that can take you north and south, and the rooms have a fair amount of space. When something goes wrong maintenance is regularly quick to come fix the issue. The internet is fast but occasionally goes out for a moment on my gaming console, other devices seem unaffected.

Me and my roommate had trouble getting things started here. The person who was originally in communication with us wasnt there any longer so we basically were ghosted for a few weeks. Every time we called during the business hours, no one would pick. I had an issue making my first payment through the online portal and the guys said, drop off a check. The entire point of having an online portal is so that we dont have to drive to the leasing office to drop off a check (this was before I moved in). After getting things situated, Katlyn was super awesome and helped us a ton! She stayed in communication with us and we were able to get things up a running finally!Once we did move in, our apartment was super dirty. I literally had to deep clean again. Before I moved in, we asked how they deep clean the apartment, and whoever they hired to clean the complex did a horrible job.Their maintenance team is awesome though. My roommate had an issue with her toilet and they kept coming in to figure out what the problem was and they did resolved the issue. There are a ton of spiders and insects so I hope they have pest control come through and get that cleared up. But this also could be because were near the trees. After about a week and a half of living here, its not bad. Just a rough start. Its quiet, and once you actually make this place home, it gets cozy.

I would recommend 25 East to someone who is looking for cheap student housing. For the money you pay, it is perfectly satisfactory. All of the amenities are nice to have and it’s great to have walking trails so close by. There are some downsides. For example, the wifi completely shut down multiple times, which was a huge hassle with all classes being online. This seemed to get better over the course of my stay, though, so I’m not sure this would be a big issue in the coming years. Another thing is that the grounds can be pretty gross sometimes, with all of the geese from the nearby pond and all of the dog owners. The structure of the apartments themselves is honestly shoddy so I would expect to need to call maintenance a few times but again, for what you’re paying it’s expected. Overall, 25 East was a decent apartment complex to live in and it was great for the price.

Update from 10 months ago review. If you looking for quiet, affordable, and love nature surround you. This is a great place to live in. In beginning of few months of my residence was little rocky especially with office management need to improve communication with residents whenever residents bring up a concerns. Maintenance guys are fast & hardworking, who would showed up to get the repairs fixed faster. You may feel frustrating with office management where you unable to call the office and the line always busy even lot of time I get a rude staffs over the phone. (Easier if you go in the office and there’s amazing front desk reps would drop everything & listen even giving you advice. I made a regret to think everyone is rude due over the phone convo but in reality they aren’t. They doUnderstand your even more they all are like same as our age). Roommate matching program is one of the awful experiences. They would put you with random people, who is not even have similar preferences of life style as you is hoping for. If you don’t like your new roomie, my advice: try at least spend time and hangout with new roommate which led into a amazing friendship! Ohh, I love nature. Trail walk, ponds and waking up every morning, you will see lot of wild animals! Pretty much all I can share on here!

Honestly the best deal especially considering the location, i’ve been living here for two years now and i haven’t moved out because i still haven’t found a place worth enough to move. there are washing and drying machines inside each unit, other apartments i’ve seen have laundry rooms for the entire building or for the entire complex, there is central ac and heating which is awesome. other apartments around the area are not only more expensive but they don’t have these two features and they look hella beat down unlike the buildings/rooms at 25 east. the staff is friendly and actually helpful too so any maintenance or whatever issues are actually resolved and they try to engage within the community through social events they plan

When moving in to 25 East we were told that professional cleaners came in and cleaned before move in day. Walking in to our apartment you could tell that no one had been inside for weeks. it was extremely dirty. We spent days cleaning and our one drawer in the kitchen was filled with dirt and green powder. There was dried glue on the deck that looked like throw up. We also had bees on our balcony. One of our roommates was stung and so was our neighbor. we made a request for it to be sprayed and it took a week. they’ve sprayed once and they’re still there. we sprayed once ourselves and made one more request for them to be sprayed. they haven’t been back. it has been a week. We had one working shower. the diverter was stuck in one shower and wouldn’t pull up. the other shower had a stuck diverter that wouldn’t go down. Our AC was broken. it was extremely cold. when maintenance came they put a new cover on the thermostat. After that only hot air was coming out of the vents in our rooms. Once our requests were fulfilled its a very nice space to live.

I moved into 25 East less that a month ago and am overjoyed with the customer service and expertise of the staff. For the price, 25 East is hard to beat. Plus, during negotiations, a bus pass was included. I am pleased to say that the simplicity of obtaining that bus pass far exceeded my expectations and left a good first impression. This has given me a glimpse of the good-faith, transparent business practices that I enjoy. As for living at 25 East, every time I have needed a service repair, I have been visited within about 48 hours of submitting a request. Also, I love the community-oriented nature of their strategy. I like to meet new people and make new friends, which is encouraged with the events that the staff create. Finally, the ideal location is near grocery stores, soccer fields, and restaurants, yet it feels like you are completely outside of the city. I would highly recommend these apartments.

This place is DISGUSTING and VERY UNORGANIZED. If you want stink bugs as a roommate I suggest living here. They send notices of work but the dates are are always wrong/expect late next week. Most the staff has no clue what they are doing, didnt even know how to use the printer or simple general questions so expect for them to forward you to someone else who has no idea why you talking to them. Apparently if your roommate signs as is that applies to you even though its individual leases, they never came to clean my carpet even after asking for weeks. Did I mention the bugs? Im giving one star because I just realized the clever but deceitful way 25 East calculates rent. Before I explain, yes, this highlights the importance of reading the fine print. Yes, I should have more carefully read the fine print. Im writing this review so others can be informed. Also, Im writing this because Ive never seen any other apartment pull the trick they do!The lease term is not for a full year. The move in date is Aug 26 and the move out date is July 31. However, they charge you rent in 12 equal installments. In effect, this makes the rent look cheaper than it is. For example, suppose they charge you a base rent of $640 to be paid on the first of each month (starting in August). If you assumed that 25 East worked like any other apartment, then youd think your rent for each month of living there is $640. In reality, youre only paying for approximately 11.2 months of shelter. Thus, youd want to multiply the $640 by the 12 installments ($7680) then divide by 11.2 months. This comes to a little more than $685.TLDR: Because the way the lease works, your effective monthly rent is higher than it appears. For example, if your lease says a base rent of $640, in reality youd be paying a little over $685 for each month you live there.

DO NOT LIVE 25 EAST!I have put together a list of reasons on why you should be choosing a different apartment complex.1. We moved into an apartment that contained bed bugs. We are going on week 7 of having them. 25 East is not being helpful on getting rid of them. We did not receive brand new mattresses after the treatments. The “new” mattresses we got were from storage. My mattress had literal poop stains all over one side, and 25 East claimed “they were professionally cleaned.” Well obviously not.2. The front desk never solves the problems we have unless we have our parents call. They do not listen to what we THE TENANTS have to say, but decide to after a parent is brought into the situation.3. We moved in to a trashed room but were promised a “professionally cleaned apartment.” They claimed multiple times that our apartment was cleaned, but yet somehow didn’t catch that our dishwasher had standing water in it because it was broken from the last tenants, food in the cupboards, and the drains not being able to drain properly. Also if these apartments were professionally cleaned, they would have noticed the stains that were found on the walls and mattresses from the bedbugs.4. We also had a wasp problem of them coming into one of our bedrooms. We had to solve this problem by duct taping the window because it took maintenance 3-4 weeks to fix the problem after a request was made.I would rate this place 0 stars if I could.

My experience at 25East started out great and then turned into a nightmare. The ammenities are nice but the staff is unorganized. They do little to help. For example, I first discovered my bedroom walls were leaking and the seals were broken back in May. I put in a maintenace request and the problem still hasnt been fixed. Its to the point that there is mold along the bottom of walls and the carpet. Our washer and dryer works off and on. Our shelves collapsed and not to mention our AC/ heat went out. Its not worth the money honestly! If I am paying for rent and utilities, I expect to live in a livable space. They are not flexible with the rates. The most they actually did during the first stages of the pandemic was waive the tax fee in the resident portal.

Furthermore, there always seems to be a break down in communication. I have had to badger endlessly to get any sort of response, and every month there is a new issue it seems. The staff seems to be okay compared to where I’m living currently, however, it seems like every time I would call the office to hear about their new rate or special I would get different answers from different staff members. They are always promoting that the rate is only going to get higher but now they are offering a rate of $399 when a few months ago when I was initially looking to sign, it was a lot higher. There are also a few security issues I am concerned about after the shooting that happened at the complex. Now I know this has nothing to do with the new staff but as a potential renter I was a little nervous to hear this happen. Rent is pretty cheap and theres amenities like a 24 hour workout center, washer/dryer in the unit, furniture, dining tables, a pool, study lounge, etc. Theres also a bus stop right in front of the complex that takes you to campus, although walking to it in the frigid winter when you live in one of the farther buildings can be a bit difficult. The employees are extremely friendly and welcoming and seem happy to assist the residents, which is refreshing. Sometimes its a little drafty in the apartments in the colder months, the walls are pretty thin, and the distance from campus can be hard, but for the most part 25 East is a nice little community surrounded by beautiful nature. I regret living here. I shouldve listened to the previous reviews but I was too ignorant and believed that maybe since there was new management that the apartment experience would be better. I was wrong. I understand this apartment is significantly cheaper than most apartments here in East Lansing and I shouldnt expect a 5-star hotel-like interior. My negative rating for this place is solely for management and the office staff. You are told one thing by the manager or the other office staff members but no actions are ever taken on that promise. I had concrete mix dripping from the fan in my bathroom. The concrete began to harden and a big puddle of concrete was on the floor of the bathroom and it was growing. I called the office and the manager told me she will have maintenance come and fix it ASAP. 3 HOURS LATER, a maintenance staff comes, but not for the concrete, but to fix our refrigerator. So I pointed out the concrete to the maintenance staff member and he told me he was never told about this incident. He later brought in the head of the maintenance staff to come and fix it and to find the cause of the problem. He was also never alerted about this incident. I dont mind that there was concrete, they were replacing the flooring above me so mistakes happen and I understand that. I also understand if maintenance was too busy to come to my apartment due to other priorities. But to have the manager tell me she will alert maintenance ASAP then to have maintenance (I want to note that the maintenance staff is incredible and extremely helpful, its unfortunate they work under such atrocious management) come 3 hours later for a separate task and tell me they heard nothing about this, that is unacceptable and truly unprofessional by the manager. What if maintenance didnt show up to fix the refrigerator? Would my entire bathroom be flooded with concrete? This is just a fraction of the many negative experiences that I had to deal with. I could sit here and write an entire book on how terrible this apartment complex is. AND IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ THIS WHOLE THING, THEN PLEASE READ THIS: DONT LIVE HERE, I DONT CARE HOW CHEAP IT IS, YOUR EXPERIENCE WILL BE TERRIBLE.

Very unorganized and unreliable office staff. You are told one thing and something else completely different happens. It seems the general managers patience are wearing thin and does not work to provide the highest quality of service to the residents. Maintenance staff is out of this world good, but people in the manager positions are bringing this place all the way down to a one star. Needs to be fixed in order to attract new residents with the growing competition in the East Lansing area.

I signed at 25 East when it was still Abbot Place, not knowing that they would be getting new management. With that being said, I am grateful for the staff, as they are all kind and helpful. Moving in was a bit rough, as the units were undergoing numerous renovations, however, it was worth the wait. My roommates and I love our new appliances and floors. The upgrades, friendly staff, and great price are what sold us on resigning again! It is evident that 25 East wants to please its residents.

Demarco S. was very helpful with accommodating everything I need. He is a very nice employee that made my day much better when I left. He helped me solve my problems very fast and efficiently and I’m really glad he was hired and ready to help me the way he did. Thank you very much 25 east and a very special thank you to Demarco specifically.

25 East is pretty hit or miss. I’ve had some really good interactions with maintenance workers and office staff. I’ve also had some not so great experiences. The printer was broken for 2 weeks not too long ago and if the office was closed you were unable to print. Over all I feel if you keep in close contact with management/office workers (I contact them probably twice a week for something) it is a fairly nice place to live.

25 East is an awesome place to live. Its my first year living off campus and I have already signed again to live here next year! Its affordable, furnished, has awesome amenities, and the staff is always super friendly. The Gym is open 24 hours and the apartments are the perfect size for my roommates and I! Also, everything has been renovated this year so everything is new and nice. The only drawback is how far from campus it is, but that isnt even a problem because they provide bus passes for all residents. the 26 comes every 7-10 minutes and takes you to the bus station. The 25 comes every 30 minutes and takes you to places like Brody, Wells, and Comm Arts. It never takes me more than 15 minutes on the bus to get to campus.I couldnt recommend this place more!

Although there was a lot of construction earlier in the year, it allowed for all new appliances and floors. The staff are super friendly and always available to help when needed. Being pet friendly is a huge plus! The affordable prices and friendly atmosphere make this a great place to live.

Spacious rooms and good amenities. farther from campus but free bus pass helps. Not enough parking for all the cars. Safety could be much improved and lighting around parking lots.

Friendly staff and the apartments look nice. I had a friend that lived here before the renovations and it looks way better now. Management is nice and the price is reasonable. Only downfall is the distance to campus, especially if you dont like to ride the CATA.

My roommate and I loved this place! Awesome amenities and super friendly staff. Everything is in good/new condition and the two bedroom apartments are not that small at all (as a previous poster commented). I added a desk and a dresser to my room and it was just fine. Overall very satisfied.

I just signed a lease here and moved in and while I was excited to move in and start the new year, it quickly became clear that deciding to live here was a huge mistake. My apartment was NOT in move condition. The window screen was broken, the tub was clogged with water that had been sitting in it for months with dozens of dead bugs, the shower did not work, the carpet was stained, sticky, and dirty, there were dead and live stink bugs littered throughout the apartment, and the AC was not working. Despite many requests to get these problems fixed, nothing was ever done. When asked to speak to a manager, my mother and I were told she was too busy to come out and talk to us when we could see her just sitting at her desk with the door open. Eventually, two boys in the leasing office, who were NOT in maintenance, had to come and unclog my tub because maintenance could not make it out to help. Fast forward two weeks later and the only thing that has been done is the carpet, but its still a bit sticky and I had to buy cleaner to scrub it myself. My dad had to drive all the way out to fix my window screen. For two weeks, in 80+ degree weather I had to sit in my bathtub with a cup to wash my hair. To make things even worse, my roommate had moved in at the beginning of the month and told the staff about all the problems yet they still did nothing to make sure our apartment was in move in condition. I was charged rent for one week when my apartment was not even in move in condition! It took countless calls by my parents and multiple visits to the office before the staff finally bothered to fix things when the solutions took only a few minutes. Then on the first, I checked my rent and nothing was due. No upcoming was due either, so I thought the rent I paid for one week covered the month. 8 days later, I get an email saying rent is due with a huge late fee when the rent due did not even show up on September 1st. So basically I paid an entire months worth of rent for one week for an apartment that was not even in move-in condition. I go to look for my lease in the portal, because I was not given a paper one, and under leasing documents in the resident portal, it says none. When touring, I was told the stairways and hallways would be renovated and brand new when I moved in and that the apartments would look just like the model apartment. I was also promised a gift card when I moved in. However, none of these things are true. The halls and stairs are still old and covered with cobwebs, stains, and insects, I never received a gift card, and the apartment I moved in to was nothing at all like the model. I feel I was lied to just to get me to sign with them. Honestly, living here for just a few weeks has been horrendous filled with one negative experience after the next. The only redeeming quality about this place are the students who work in the leasing office who are friendly and try their best to help, when really there is not much they can do. Do not rent here, you will regret it immediately!

Ignore old reviews before mid 2017. New management made a ton of improvements and it nowhere near what it used to be. New internet, appliances, flooring and management. Maintenance is great and grounds are well kept. Highly recommend

Probably the best you can get for the amount of rent paid. I live in a two bedroom apartment with one roommate, and I have more space than I know what to do with right now. The facilities are kept clean, and the maintenance staff is very good at fixing problems. The housing staff is excellent, very organized and accommodating. Its a lot farther from campus, which can be a good thing and a bad thing at times. Overall, very positive.

My friend Jiayi Luo lived here. The leasing office is not reliable! THEY OWN MY FRIEND $381.28 remaining balance and don’t give it to my friend!!! Below is the real experience from my friend.I’m the previous residence of Room 3027. The staffs are nice to me but not useful at all. I’m an international student, so this summer I keep the extra amount money on my account. Before I pay, the assistant told me it’s easy to get the refund. I can just go straight to office get the check or Cash. But right now they told me it must be mailed. I understand the company rules, but it’s already more than three months. For these thing, I went to office about eight times. Each time I don’t get the answer about how long I will receive the money. Even I cannot get the tracking number of the check. November 13, I called the office again, one of the assistant Steven told me it’s resend and I will receive it no longer three weeks. But I still didn’t get it. I don’t know why it’s that hard to get my money back. Also, when I email them, is hard to get them reply. I don’t know if this because I’m a Chinese? I ‘m prepared find a lawyer to help me dealing with it.

There should be a 0 star scale for such an apartment. They unrealistically and dishonestly provided us with fake deals. Stay away or go to a motel for good. Abbott Place cant be trusted. FYI, their name will be switched to 25 East soon.

I love living here! People are so nice and location is perfectly close enough to campus where it’s easy access to classes and Grand River, but far enough where I feel Ike I can study quietly on the weekends!
