I cannot recommend Sears. Although the sales consultation and installation were good, there was zero communication from the project manager from the point of sale to installation. Despite over a dozen e-mails and phone calls, I did not get a single update for over a month and a half. It wasnt until I threatened to cancel the project that they finally responded to me and moved my project along. Not what I was expecting given the price.
* We are extremely pleased with the impeccable service and outstanding window quality! Thank you so much!
The old boiler was removed, and a new one installed. There was a little issue with the installation, but now resolved. The installation is successful, but I have issues with your communication system. And the salesman does not seem to be completely honest.
Roof Replacement:* I was very impressed with the team that supported this project. They were polite, considerate of my property, extremely professional, and great work. Very pleased.
This is my second time using them and like the first time amazing work. Also as a Realtor I see a lot of houses and know when I see quality work. Highly recommend them!!!!
The year was 2012 when we bought the home in a serious state of disrepair. Replacing the 20+ year old forced air HVAC system was a must, but finding anyone willing to even touch a mobile home was nearly impossible. Thats when we found Sears. The consultation and scheduling of the installation was good, and even the contractor was pleasant, but thats where the positive side ends (hence the 2 stars). Mostly the issues are with the unit that was installed. Perhaps it has nothing to do with Sears or maybe it does, which is why this review is being written. First off, the financing. Although it has been quite some time since it was paid off, I do recall the amount we paid before interest fees was rather high, but we were none the wiser at the time. So first ding: overpriced. This brings me to the next point of contention, the warranty. ONE year. Of course the unit performed perfectly that first year (despite two failed inspections that were eventually addressed by the contractor until a passing inspection was issued). Year two and even three was fine. Then year 4...the flame sensor died. Once that was fixed everything seemed ok until year 5. The blower motor died an excruciatingly loud death during the coldest month of winter. The replacement was in backorder status by the manufacturer so lets just say it took some time for that to be fixed. Then year 6 the inducer died the same way the blower did, loudly. The part was replaced and it was decided that the unit needed a thorough inspection before something else went wrong. We didnt realize how bad it was until a few inspections later and a contractor willing to take the time to explain it further we were told the heat exchanger was cracked and rusting. What makes this bad? It turns out the furnace had been circulating carbon monoxide throughout the house! Yes, we have 3 carbon monoxide detectors in the house, but none of them went off, ever. Research as to the reason revealed that the levels in the house were not high enough to trigger the alarm, BUT the levels were high enough that over time symptoms would develop, and they did... everyone in the house: headaches, nausea, fatigue (flu-like symptoms).I realize this is a lengthy review and explanation, but it is meant to be fair. In summary we feel Sears overcharged us (-1 star) and installed a low-end cheap product (-2 stars)! I believe the proof is in the fact the unit became unsafe in less than 10 years and Sears must have known it was a poor quality product to only offer a one year warranty. As such, and in conclusion, this family will never use Sears (and/or whatever name they rebranded as) again AND will do everything we can to discourage friends, family, and even foes from ever using them for any home improvement.
Reliable and hardworking. The only thing we didn’t expect was an additional $900 towards the change of circuit breaker for our AC. It was originally agreed that they will just add another on top of our old one, but they changed it to one big box. The ceiling holes in 2 of the ducts were cut uneven. But overall, we were satisfied of the work done, despite of the untimelysituation when it was done.
I requested services from this company, they called me to schedule an appointment which we did it, they supposed to show up on Tuesday, just to find later that they wont be able to show up because i never confirm the appointment (not true) another guys gave me a second appointment, for Wednesday, they never show up. honestly thanks god i didnt make business with this company. they are a shame
I had a new Carrier air conditioning system installed by Transform Home Improvement aka Sears in June 2020. While signing the contract I was told that I can apply for manufacturers rebate of $750 after the installation. While applying for the rebate I found out that it does not qualify for the rebate. I tried to get answer from Transform. basically they washed their hands. I am suspecting that they installed a different model than what I thought I paid for. Now I am realizing that in the contract they did not put the model # at all, therefore, I cannot prove it. The person who is responsible to help me never answers phone or returns phone calls. In addition, they were responsible for township permit, which 5 weeks now after the installation, I have not received or getting any responses to my enquiry. VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE ANSS DISHONET COMPANY.
* outstanding sales rep and install team made the process of replacing my furnace easy. Professional, on time and thorough. highly recommend
First of all the salesman comes to your house and tells you we have a crew of 10 men that we train and your house will be done in 4 days. Then when the contractor comes all alone and does the job first lie . Was told all my windows would be caped the front picture windows were not caped they were excluded 2 lie . i called number of times never returned my calls the ( salesman) ill never deal with sears again. The contractor did a great job on my house all by himself . but sears never again
Everything is working just fine.
I called Sears to install a boiler in my home in November. What I got was a company called Transform SR Home Improvements who uses the Sears name to get into your home and do horrible work. The boiler they installed leaked water all over the floor and failed the first inspection. Horrible job! I want nothing more to do with this company. Now they charge me for a chimney liner that is not installed. I am being billed for work that was not done. This scam company says I can only get back my money if I sign a paper waiving my rights. Worsted experience ever!
Horrible experience with installing central air conditioner. At my request I changed from installing A/C on the first floor only. Original quote for both floors was $14,300. Revised quote was for $13,600 only $600 less. The system only required a 2.5 ton condenser and air handler; not the 3.5 ton in the original quote. Other contractors said the smaller equipment should have given me a reduction of $1,150-$1,400. Plus I should have received an additional reduction for the second floor materials and labor that were not utilized. Other contractors said that would be worth $1,200-1500. Splitting the differences should have resulted in a contract reduction of apprx. $2,600. Sears would only reduce the contract by $600. Not acceptable and waiting for Sears to adjust their contract proposal that I have not signed. The system is installed; but Sears will not be paid until Im treated fairly. In addition; their service from office staff was horrible. On numerous occasions they promised that the contractor would be arriving to install. More than once the contractor never showed up that day and on others would show up many hours late. This was due to the scheduler, not the contractor. I would never recommend this company to any other person.
Contacted Sears for a replacement central AC. Quoted $6740.26 and promised delivery the following week. Didnt deliver on time and jacked the price up 4 times to over $10,000 before providing a price match to $9520 (other quotes were $7300-$7500). Installation was then not completed, alleged code violations were not corrected, and the system still does not work a month later. Left 3 messages for the Installation Project Coordinator and did not receive a return call. I went with Sears because it was time-sensitive, and they failed to deliver in every way. Terrible.
Very happy with the service I received for my furnace replacement. I have an older home & despite the complications of its structure, they were still able to work out a plan for me. I had a few contractors come in to get multiple opinions but felt most secure with the set up with Sears. It was supposed to be a 2-day project but the crew managed to do it all in 1 so I didn’t have to take additional time off work.
ALERT ALERT ALERT!! Whatever you do DONT USE THIS COMPANY! I trusted Sears to come into my home and install an AC unit. To my surprise they were exactly what everyone was telling me they were. My $8,000 unit does not work at all. The electricians do not show up and the installers do not know what theyre doing. My coil is too small for my unit and they should have known that. Ive purchased this unit back in April and Im still having major issues. My house is currently 91 degrees and its to the point my basement has moisture causing my bathroom doors to expand and not close at all. They call and feed you lies to try and delay repairs. The district manager and his staff are very rude and obviously not scared of the BBB or higher management. They claim they are military friendly but Im a Veteran and the service Ive received has been less than appreciative. If I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor and hire a legitimate company who isnt on the verge of bankruptcy! Im available if you need more background on this matter. DONT BE THEIR NEXT VICTIM!
We are very satisfied with our beautiful new kitchen. It was a pleasure to work with Ed and all that provided services. We highly recommend them.
The windows are beautiful, the person that installed my windows was a true professional very courteous, his work was impeccable he really took care to leave his work area immaculate. He is a true asset to the image of Sears. All work should reflect the pride and craftsmanship his does. Me and my husband were truly impressed.
Salesman came out did a good job.. Sears prices are just too high.. he tried to price match but the quote was still higher than the other 2 quotes for the same size systems
I contacted Sears Home Services to repair my 8 year old Kenmore water heater when the pilot light started to go out. I was given a date and six hour window for the technician to arrive. The technician arrived hours after the time that I was told, without notifying me even though I signed up for text alerts regarding my appointment. The technician Said that the reason the water heater would shut off after being relit a couple of days earlier was because a screen needed to be cleaned under the water heater. He cleaned the screen which took a minute or two, charged me $197.72 and left. Two days later the pilot light went off again. I called Sears and scheduled another service call. Same technician came out again, told me that I needed to call a chimney sweep because the water heater was not properly ventilating. I hired a chimney sweep who inspected my chimney and said that there was no problem with the chimney, that it was ventilating fine. I had to pay $85 for the chimney sweep service call. I called Sears again and scheduled another service call. different technician came out and found the cause of the problem right away, A bad pilot burner. He was shocked to hear that the prior tech had not even inspected the pilot burner. He had his assistant put it back together as he explained to me that the part would have to be ordered, and would take five days to get, then charged me $128.39 for the part. After noticing that his assistant was taking a long time down in the basement putting the old pilot burner back on, he went down to check on him. Five minutes later they came back up and told me that the old pilot burner got damaged, and would not relight the hot water heater! He told me that now I would not have hot water again until the new part arrived in five days! This was unacceptable, as before I was able to relight the burner and it would stay on between 1 and 3 days before going out. Now my wife and I have no hot water for the next five days and over $411 invested.
They replaced 20 windows in one day. It was an awesome experience and they look great!! So glad I chose Sears.
Sears Home Improvements (Roof, Siding, Doors, Windows, Boilers, AC, Kitchen, Bathrooms, etc.) is the only division keeping Sears in business. They install 10,000 jobs per month nationwide & only sell specific brands/products. You pay 3 to 4 times more than the retail price of any other company. The sales force is comprised of “hard sell” employees because they work on commission so the more you pay, the more they make. I was quoted $40,000 to replace 22 squares of my roof with a lifetime warranty. Being 70 years old, I only need 10 or 15 years out of my roof so I hired a roofing contractor that replaced and repaired my roof for $12,000 with a 10 year warranty. You be the judge....
Sears team extremely poor to manage our project. Contract signed in August 2018 but project finalized in may 2019 (Central AC installation)Thanks god the subcontractors were very good and professional to compensate for Sears central team
Installed a Mini Split Heat/AC system
Service started off great until contract was signed. Project Manager was non existent throughout the job. Damage happened to my home during the work. Sears took 4 weeks to coordinate with the Contractor to make the repairs. A 2-4 day job ended up taking a month. The new roof itself, Im not happy with the finish look. Job does not look professional and brand new for the price I paid.
I took a part time job with Sears in the midst of a dotcom takeover of this division. This was the division that has kept Sears alive for over the past 5 years. The problem here is that this division wants to sell you house siding, roofs, insulated windows, interior & exterior makeovers, etc. at the MOST EXPENSIVE PRICE !An average roof with this company runs $35,000++. I had 22 squares done for $12,000 with a 25 year warranty from a private company. You decide which roof you would like to purchase....
I was mislead and lied to by sales representatives (Eugene and Baha) from sears . EUGENE changes my equipments to less expensive brand without my knowledge nor my consent to make it seems like Im getting a discount for additional chimney that was not added to the project. Then they change my schedule 3 times for their convenience. When I contacted them about the missed appointment they said I cancelled the appointment. Overall, I am not please with sears services, I wouldnt refer sears yo anyone. 😐
Horrible experience with sears NJ home improvements. I will never deal with them again. They show you one product and they come out with something different. They ruined my Thanksgiving. Stay away from Sears home improvements. you will over pay for their cheap product. Worse experience ever. Sears should go out of business for their horrible customer service.
Worst experience ever! Delays, excuses, installation of wrong tiles, installed cabinet doors the wrong way, sloppy workmanship, terrible customer service, totally overpriced, still not finished after 5 months, was supposed to be finished in 2 weeks. Have not been compensated for months and months of dirt and mess and inconvenience. No wonder they are bankrupt and they are trying to unload Home Services. They definitely did not provide a service for our home.
THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE- EVERYONE I SPOKE TO IS INCOMPETENT AND HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING- I am still dealing with an AC installation that is taking way longer than it should. NO ONE is responsive- the only thing everyone seems to do is redirect the customer to other irrelevant departments. For the price they charge the service is a complete scam. DO NOT USE SEARS-THEY ARE A NIGHTMARE.
I had kitchen remodel and flooring done. The contractors that Sears uses were very professional and the work was beautiful. The staff at the Hanover office are a fraud. There is no customer service, no communication and no professionalism. It was a complete nightmare. The sales person who initially met with tacked on $746 that I never knew about. John Gary sales manager was supposed to come to my house so I can sign contracts because I wanted to change how I was going to pay and never showed up, fast forward to the end now I have bigger credit card debt. Aneisha the project manager Told me she was going to call me back for three days in reference to a situation And never called back. I was never kept informed when contractors were supposed to show up, One contractor Aneisha forgot to reach out to and then couldn’t show up for another week. Initially I was told this project would take a week and it took five weeks. 2 1/2 weeks of not having a functioning kitchen that I was not prepared for because I was told it would take a week. The staff needs customer service sensitivity training. ****Do not use this company****
Very satisfied with work completed. The staff was very professional and cleaned up after the job.
What a horrible experience. I had my kitchen resurfaced and nothing went according to plan. Its not Sears doing the work; they subcontract. Scheduling was a HUGE problem. There was no project coordinator, I was the project coordinator. The cabinet person/electrician/floor person never talked to one another. Granted it is an old house and there were some surprises. But I shouldnt have four different electricians come out to my house (same company different person each time to fix the prior electricians mistakes). I shouldnt have to tell a floor person the dimension of the cabinetry so that I dont have divets in my floor. I shouldnt have to tell the tile person that you are supposed to corner the tiles so that the grout is not visible. If I take time off for a contractor to show at my house, they better show. I should not have to call around to find out when they will arrive. Every time I look at the kitchen makes me want to take a drink. Although the dishwasher installer was wonderful (wish I could get his name); I mentally blocked everyone else. I dont know what I would do if I saw them again.
Sears does make it fairly easy on the customers part, but they could communicate with the customer better. The contracts for my jobs were confusing because instead of one contract for each job, I received one contract for the roof job and then one that was for both projects together.
Got excellent service. Urgency based prioritization required to deserve 5 stars.
Awful project coordination. No communication from Sears about progress. The measuretech person that was supposed to laser measure my windows to within 1/32 didnt use a laser measure and when the installers attempted to put the windows in it took them twice as long because every windows was either too big or too small.Word of advise, dont believe Sears when they give you an initial install date. They cancelled last minute (literally the day before at 5pm) twice and only actually came to install after I sent a scathing email to corporate sears about the awful service.Sears customer service and project coordinators are tricky awful. I will never use them again for a home improvement project.
Consistently poor service
Superb service and value. Replaced my 2 hvac units and furnace in One Day! HeatingPros are oustanding!
The worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Countless calls to the office with no returns, when I would hear back they would say one thing and the contractor subbed to do the work wouldnt show up and just come and go as they please. We were told that Sears contractors start one job at a time start and finish the project before moving on. 6 windows and siding on our house took almost two months and started over a month later than we were told due to contractor double booking and working one day and then leaving for a week...
Made me whate 9 week and only after i complained were they able by magic find my countertop and insall is the next day
The cost for my project, heating and air, was over $11,000.Was promised a 1 day, start to finish install. Took 4 days (2 days of actual work)My appointment for install, for an 8-10 hour job, was between 9 and 11. They showed up at 11:30 amHvac was finished by 8:30 pm (85 degrees in the house)At 9 pm the electrician called and said that he could not make it. Only after letting him know how very upset I was did he say that he was sending someone right over. They arrived at 10:30 pmElectrician finished up at 12:30 am. I asked him if he was finished and he replied yes. I looked everything everything over and he neglected to put in a service outlet, change the condenser wire, or put in a new power box for the condenser wire (all of which were on my contract).Made calls to project coordinator and initial sales person, left messages several times over the course of 2 days with no replies.2 days later got a call from project coordinator and scheduled appointment for Satuday to have electric finished, 3 days after initial install.Have heard nothing from anyone from Sears since.Ac was constantly running so I went and checked and my air handler was leaking. Fixed myself. All in all, very disappointed in the whole project.WAY too much money.Absolutely NO customer service.Mechanics were o.k. at best.Would NOT recommend Sears again.
There are pros and cons to every story. Sears is still a major store that I would trust over a mom and pop location with warranty and service. Our AC unit went and furnace was going to be next.We ended up dealing with Harris from Sears and he was great. Very nice guy and knowledgeable about what he sells. Professional as expected. The bad? Well, we were given the need to purchase right now drill or a discount would not be given. This should not be part of the sell. They should give a better week long guaranteed quote. Why would you put your customers on the spot and not give them the chance to look it over if you believe your pitch and product is, what it is. Which I thought it was good enough we moved forward after mulling it over a few days after they OKd an extension of the offer. The install. We completed everything (signed contract) and within a few days (3) scheduled for install.Installers came day as expected and within 3hrs they completed the condenser and furnace/ac coil install.1-1.5hrs additional for the electrician to do his part.System up and running for exactly a week before first issue. Wiring issue detected by the Nest thermostat. They found the issue with wiring with their units and not the issue with the nest or the wiring from the thermostat to the unit.System has been up and running another week and now it is randomly getting extremely loud. We have to shutdown the AC unit (manually select to turn it off from the nest). Upon restart, no noise. Good for about 2-3 days and it happened again. This time we have it on video. We call in and atleast I havent heard back and noone has stopped by.Noise occurred this morning on my way out to work. Hopefully, no issues when I get home.I gave 4 stars more for the job of Harris and the installers making that portion seemless. If I could give the equipment a rating so far, it would be about a 3* product. Due to issues in a very short time frame, which one can be accounted for by installer?, but the noise is likely the equipment.Hopefully, they will be prompt to fix the matter.
The best services
Worst experience ever! Do yourself a favor and do not hire Sears for your home improvement projects. Unprofessional installer.
The project manager is not responsive and the whole project takes too long. The countertop contractor did not do a good job. Not a good experience in summary.
Terrible. I will never use Sears for anything again. It took over 5 months to finish my kitchen renovation. Disgraceful!
Very satisfied with the service!!
The initial sales appointment went well. For the future if you want to change the contract items tell the customer before the day of the install.
Not happy with the counter tops i purchased from sears home improvement service. They had marks and stains that couldnt be removed even when you wipe them down.I had to call and have the project manager come to my house. Now Im waiting to see what the results will be.
Excellent Service!
Stressful and lack of communication by Sears
