This gym is more than a place to work out... it’s family. Yes, they will whip you in shape, teach your proper training mechanics and healthy eating... but they will be there for you when life throws you a curve ball as well. There’s a gym on every corner but one that treats you as family is special. Love this place! ❤️

RTP Fitness is a real gym with a real community. After going there for years Id have a hard time giving this place less than 5 stars because its not perfect, but neither am I. And just like me, it gets a little better each year.If you want somewhere thats got power racks, character and the atmosphere to make you want to push yourself, Ill see you there.

Best gym in the triangle. Hands down. I should know, because I tried a ton out. If you want be more fit/healthy, or stronger there is no better place. Atmosphere in a gym means everything and this place is the Mecca of fitness. Not too many places like this left aroind the nation either.

This place is the real deal. No frills, nothing you don’t need, everything you do. In this area, it’s so hard to find a gym that has a good balance of machines and strength equipment. It’s a great place for both serious bodybuilders and powerlifters alike. The gym goers here actually put the equipment back when they’re done with it and are respectful of the space. Now THAT is rare. The owner Steve, really cares about the people who walk through his doors and takes care of them like family. My boyfriend and I left our commercial box gym and came here and it finally feels like home!

Not your typical commercial Planet Fitness type of gym - this place is compact, down-to-basics, and probably has more kinds of strength equipment and specialty bars than your average gym. When it comes to strength training, this place will be your gem. Also membership fees are very cheap, and staff members are very friendly to beginners and battle-hardened veterans alike. 10/10. Definitely recommend.

Old school style gym, and has all the right equipment for any fitness goal. Pricing and plans are affordable and flexible. There are many different types of people here: powerlifters, bodybuilders, people in groups, coaches, and casual gym goers, and everyone gets along. Overall, a really good place; I’m glad I found this gym.

I joined this gym a month ago and it has already become my second home. The owner Steve is very friendly and really cares about the members even in this pandemic situation. The members here are also friendly and help you out in spotting if needed. Old school equipment which is a huge plus for me. Can’t go wrong with this gym.

This is a review specifically for Max Gordon Fitness at RTP Fitness.I worked with Max for about 9 months and long story short, he is amazing and I could not possibly be happier with the results I got with him.I am a 5’11, 25 year-old male who had struggled with putting on weight over the last 5 years.I found max when I moved to the Triangle and from day 1, he was the epitome of professionalism. He did a quick evaluation of my strengths and weaknesses, listened to my goals and expectations, and he developed a personalized plan just for me. This included workouts 4 times each week while paying careful attention to my diet.Over the next few months, I quickly gained muscle mass and started to feel much better about myself. Countless people commented on my new physique saying, “Wow, you’ve really beefed up!” or “What the heck? When did you become ripped?” While that wasn’t the main reason for seeking Max’s help, it was still nice to hear these things and to have validation that my hard work was paying off.In addition to the obvious “If you work hard and follow the advice of your trainer, you WILL get results”, Max gave me something else. He quickly became a counselor, a trusted confidant, and a friend. He knew about my friends, my family, and my significant other. It was really great to see him every session and know that I was more than just some customer to him. After I moved away from the Triangle to go to school out of state, I transitioned to his online coaching program. He would send me my 4 workouts each week with clear instructions about what to do. If there was an exercise that I needed clarification on, he would send photos and video instructions to show what he meant. This was particularly helpful. Each week, he would ask if there was any feedback or adjustments that needed to be taken into account for the upcoming week. If there were too many reps of something, or if an exercise seemed too easy, I would let him know and he would adjust it. Being honest is the key to success here. I also think I was at an advantage, because I had worked with Max in person for all those months before I went out on my own. He was very diligent about proper form with many of the exercises. This helped me be able to continue the same exercises once I left. Because of this, I feel confident that I will not injure myself when he is not around. I’m very excited to continue working with Max in the future and cannot emphasize enough that if you do what he says, HE WILL GET YOU RESULTS.In summary, I 10/10 would absolutely recommend Max as a fitness trainer and/or nutritional counselor. My life has been changed by working with him. And I can now walk into a gym and not be intimidated by other people because I feel like I belong there too.

This is the best Gym value in the Triangle. If you go to the gym to get a workout, you will be pleased. This is a place of fitness not a social club with a treadmill. That said everyone from your CEO to your record setting power lifter works out here. People are helpful and the price is right.

Great place for old school lifters and newcomers alike. Practically every type of weightlifting machine you could want. The choices in the RTP area are limited, with the other two being very crowded AND more expensive. This place is definitely the best in the area by far, and I’d recommend it if you work in the RTP area.

Solid gym in the Triangle. Very reasonable rates. If you are a serious lifter or just want to get your workout in and go home, its a good choice. It doesnt have a juice bar and no one would confuse it with an Equinox, but it does provide chalk and iron. Although there are a number of very strong people who lift at RTP, I do not find it to be a judgmental or uncomfortable place--most people just put their heads down and do their work, but people are friendly and happy to provide a spot, check your form, or share equipment when needed!

The equipment was old and outdated when I had a membership. There is a re-new fee for your contract after it is up. The re-new fee is in the contract terms and RTP fitness does not make it clear that such a renewal clause is in the contract. In my opinion, you are a female you or someone who is hard core into working out then you will get more of a response/attention with questions from the person who owns RTP fitness. Opinion based on a membership from 2015-2017 early Jan.

Ive been to most of the gyms in the area and each have their strengths. RTP is the perfect gym for me and any serious lifter. I like that there are multiple benches, many plates, 4 squat racks and 2 deadlifting platforms. I never have to wait for long to get the work in I need to. The atmosphere is all focus and the regulars are consistent and know what theyre doing. I also like that its not bogged down by a cast of personal trainers overrunning the gym with clients.

The staff is great and very helpful, whether you are a beginner at lifting weights, to a bodybuilder. Additionally, they have a wide variety of equipment including a half dozen benches or so, cardio, several squat racks, and a quite a bit of other equipment. If you’re looking for variety as well as the ability to not wait for equipment to be open to use, RTP Fitness is the perfect place.

This gym was the right price and always had open equipment. It was the best gym around and since moving away I am yet to find a place that is as good as this. There is a large barbell area, plenty of dumbells, plenty of squat racks (4 when I was last there), a dead lift platform, and fun stuff outside like a few atlas balls, a very large tire, a medium sized tire for flipping and a long heavy rope.I could not recommend this gym enough.

Ive been exercising regularly, including lifting weights, since 1967, and of the dozens of gyms Ive worked out in RTP Fitness is my favorite. The atmosphere is great--its welcoming to all, including novices and champions, young and old, men and women. (Theres no need for a separate womens section because everyone is respectful.) RTP Fitness has all the equipment you need to get in shape and stay in shape, including plenty of treadmills and stairclimbers. The hours accommodate almost any schedule. And you dont have to worry about RTP Fitness closing down and taking your membership fee because its the longest continuously operating gym in Durham. That says a lot. Id write more but Im heading over there right now.

Definitely an old school gym for folks who go to the gym more to work than to socialize. I visited on Cbristmas eve because my regular gym was closed. The place brought back some high school weight room memories, for sure! Theres some rust, but everything is clean. Theres no air conditiining, but its very well lit. Some of the equipment is from the 1980s, but 300 lbs is always 300 lbs.

RTP Fitness is a Gym.. Not a spa, not a health club, but an honest to god gym. If you want to get fit and get a great workout this is your place. First things first..The Equipment: Metal lots of metal.. sure it could use some new paint but this equipment tells you one thing. People use it to work! The weights dont care what you look like, all they want to do is get you fit..Cardio: plenty of cardio equipment if you are into that sort of thing.. The treadmills tread and the bike pedal..Amenities.. If you need a shower they have showers.. if you need a locker they have those too.. If you need leather sofas and big screen tvs on every wall, this might not be your place..You will see IBMers, Powerlifters, school teachers, Old young and everything in between coming in and working on getting healthy.. No egos here just helpful people and a great staff..THIS IS THE BEST VALUE IN THE TRIANGLE FOR A GYM!!!! GO GET IT!!

If you want to be dragged into a long term contract WITHOUT your consent then this gym is for you. I signed up for a 3 month membership and decided to discontinue because the gym was old. So once my 3 months were up I was shocked to see that they had charged me again for an additional 3 months. I contacted the gym and they said that it was under contract that we must cancel to discontinue. However there was no formal contract, just a piece of paper with my info, and NOTHING in regards to cancellation.
