Ms. Laura Corder, is by far the most helpful tax pro/preparer I have ever dealt with. Ms. Laura was my tax pro in March of 2020, helping me complete my 2019 tax returns. Fast forward to January 6th, 2021. The IRS is sending out a new round of stimulus payments. Well, the bank account that I had used in 2020 during my tax returns had been closed, due to my negligence. I thought of Ms. Laura, and how helpful she was is helping me with my tax returns, and sent her an email. I figured she wouldnt respond. She did! Not only did she respond, she called me, and actually guided me on track to get my bank account information set up properly with H@R Block so I could get my IRS payment. I submitted my previous years taxes for amendments, January 20. After three months, five meetings, and brushed-off twice; my taxes were not submitted to the IRS by H&R Block.I assume. Since, none of my phone calls have been returned, and its April 25. My tax specialist must have skipped the country...along with the rest of the staff.I suppose theres next year. I hope. Especially since it will be the last year to recieve the return on my veteran disability.I have never written a review before, but losing lots of money and wasting hours in consultations, tends to be a great motivator. Not sure how this branch hasnt been snuffed by the Better Business Bureau.I hope this review was helpful to you, and your decision making process.

I find that H & R Block is very reliable in their tax preparation. I have been a customer for years and never had any issues with them or my return. Customer service is very good.

Do NOT do your taxes here! We have gone to H&R Block for 10 years, we recently moved to Bayfield and this location was the closest one to us. We went to get our taxes done and we always have to do an amendment and Ed had no idea how to do one. He also says he has 30 years experience but has never done an amendment before. We told him we would just do our taxes ourselves so we could do the amendment and not have to worry about it being messed up. 2 weeks later we get an email that our taxes have been approved... We NEVER gave him permission to refile them, and NEVER game him permission to refile them with out my child on them! Ed refiled without permission and has totally screwed us this year. AGAIN DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION OR ED! THEY WILL SCREW YOU OUT OF EVERY DOLLAR YOU HAVE AND EVERY DOLLAR YOU WILL BE GETTING! IF I COULD GIVE A NO STAR RATING I WOULD!

I wouldnt recommend getting your taxes done here to anyone. Ive had them prepare my taxes for ten years now and have never had a problem getting my refund. Last year the IRS didnt release my refund so I contacted them and they said theres nothing they can do... they cant talk to the IRS and it would be a waste of their time to sit and wait with me because the IRS is notorious for hanging up and it could take hours! Well thats the last time I blow $100 ongoing to a h and r block office. I filed this years taxes state and federal for free and it took me less time then going to an office and since I have to deal with the IRS myself it doesnt really change the outcome (this years have already been accepted and I received a confirmation text from the IRS) honestly dont waste your money here because if you need help later they wont and its simple to file all by yourself!!

I have some tax issues that go back a few years and for the last couple tax years have gone to this H&R Block location to get things on track. The business has been in transition, so this year, when I was made aware that it was under new ownership, I was a bit worried about the change. The new owner has been absolutely fantastic with guidance for my rather complicated personal and business tax situation. I know I took up more time than the typical client, but she was able to work through many what if scenarios to make the best path for the tax year and for moving forward on future tax years. There seem to be some past negative reviews for this H&R Block, but my experience with the new ownership has been nothing but very positive. I see them as a needed resource over just a service. I have no reservations in sending people there after the above and beyond help for my complicated situation.

BEWARE this company doesn’t honor its advertising Bard Heroy CPA screwed up my 2015 income tax return and I ended up with $2800 in penalties along with Colorado state penalties and total was over $3200 after months and months and promises that the penalties would be paid. I was just told because the company had been recently sold that I was not going to get paid the penalties because the taxes were done by another proprietor so now I am screwed out of penalties that were incurred

Let me start my review by stating this. I have never completed a review of a business or organization before. My experience with the H&R Block was so horrible I felt compelled to warn others.Bill Heroy, the son of the owner Bard Heroy, did our taxes for years with no issues. Unfortunately he moved on and we used a new preparer in April of 2014. There was an issue with how an IRA rollover was coded, we had additional documentation from the bank but he refused to code it as a roll over instead of a full distribution. We decided to go ahead and have the returned filed and we would amend it later. The return was filed electronically and noted on the documents it was e-filed.We brought back more documentation and in October of 2014 and we filed an amended return. Several months later we received a letter from the IRS saying we could not file an amended return because the original had not been received. We went back and filed an original return. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning.Another few months passed and we received a letter from the IRS with a penalty for failing to file and failing to pay. Since the original return was not received until well after October we had a hefty penalty tacked onto what we owed.I began calling H&R weekly and then daily. Bard refused to take any of my calls and refused to call me back. We purchased the peace of mind and wanted their assistance in resolving the matter. During this time we moved and met with our local branch who encouraged us to reach out to the Durango branch. After a month or so of calling every day we faxed a letter demanding they file a peace of mind claim. Eventually we received a letter in the mail from Bard saying, It was our responsibility to mail the original return and they have no record of the amended return. Let me be very clear on this point, that letter was a complete lie. The initial return was prepared to be e-filed and is noted on the front page, we have the amended return the IRS mailed back with Bards signature on it.We have continued to call and call and Bard has never once spoken to us. We finally got ahold of the H&R Block escalation department, after a month of their attempts our local branch reached out to help us. They processed our claim and we are waiting on our refund.H&R Block may guarantee their work but Bard Heroy is an unscrupulous business man. How can you offer a 100% guarantee, charge a fee for a 2nd guarantee and then refuse to answer phone calls. I guess if you pretend you didnt make a mistake then it didnt really happen right.I have never experienced anything like this in my life, what an example of ethical business in a small town!

Don’t waste your time unless you want to wait weeks to get a return call and they screw up so bad that you find out later you actually had $2,000 in a return but they told you you had $0 in returns.
