Jimmy Gaskill is one of the smartest, most ethical and reasonably priced mechanics I have ever met. He runs a small shop with a couple employees. He will tell you what needs to be done now and what can wait awhile, if youre on a budget (or if youre nursing an old car along). He can eyeball a car youre considering buying and give you an opinion (he might charge for a thorough inspection). Imports are his specialty but he works on all makes and models. Although he hasnt always told me what I wanted to hear, he has earned my trust, and Ive never been disappointed with his work over 10-plus years.

Jimmy is of an increasingly rare breed, honest as the day is long and wickedly smart in diagnosing problems and making repairs that last. His shop is tiny and you wouldnt even know it existed other than through word of mouth. As I recall, hes not in the phone book and does no advertising. He has 1 or 2 employees and thats it. The place is always insanely busy, and Id imagine they turn away work. I do know that he specializes in certain vehicles, so Im actually only able to bring him 2 of our cars. Otherwise, Id gladly give him all of my business, and its quite a lot with our familys oversized fleet of modern cars and classics. Overall, I am extremely happy with this gentleman and have found him to be top notch, reliable, honest, friendly, and just a great mechanic.
