Downey Escrow allowed a borrower to cheat my company out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by recording an obviously faked signature on a reconveyance that was delivered to them by the borrower. They never contacted me, as the representative of the lender, to confirm the reconveyance even though that is standard practice with escrow companies. When I sued, Laurie Hidalgos defense is that her company that did the reconveyance was not her escrow company but a similarly named company that called itself an escrow company but really wasnt. That company had no assets and had no insurance as the law requires. I filed a complaint with the California Dept. of Business Oversight and two years later they still havent gotten to it, saying its pending. USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.
