SAVE YOUR MONEY, GO ANYWHERE ELSE: I was recommended to go here from a friend who years ago said they had a good experience and upon having my car towed there through the people they recommended and having set up an appointment calling both times to make sure that the car was dropped off and the car could be dropped off; they didnt realize for a couple of days they had my car in their parking lot. WHEN they FINALLY started working on it, They kept saying they didnt know what to do and that I needed to go and find MY own parts that they could then maybe make something rigged up work and it was a month later that I finally said enough is enough and had to pay $200 to have it towed to an actual shop that is already fixing the easily diagnosed problem and will have it back to me within the week. When I reached out to their customer service to explain the problems that I had there was no answer so then I reached out on their social media to which they gave me a lazy response telling me to contact their customer support line which I had already done that led to nothing. I do not recommend them, you will not get any good turnaround communication help out customer service. Anthony pelkin was the man who managed this business and was in charge of my car and did nothing.

I do not remember all the services this CarX has performed for me. I live four hours away but, when I am visiting and I have car trouble, I go to them. I have used them many times over the years. I love this place. Yes, they are honest, fair, competent, and timely. Anthony is wonderful: knowledgeable; respectful; efficient; and very patient. I highly recommend CarX at 212 Ogden Ave. Downers Grove. They know what they are doing and they are customer friendly; an excellent combination.

In June 2021, I took my car for a brake inspection because I was hearing a grinding noise. This is the reason why I will never step foot in this or any other CarX location (or any other Monro owned shop).The mechanic made so many errors of judgement, I question the competency of the managers and franchise owner to vet their hires.First, he determined the sound was coming from the front brake pads. He NEVER even inspected the rear.Second, he proceeded to tell me the sound was being caused by my low-quality pads and he will try to fix this by grinding them down by doing hard stops. Granted, I didnt think much of it because I didnt do the research myself, I was hoping they knew what they were doing. My mistake.Third, when he comes back and this didnt fix jack, he proceeds to wash the pads even though the rotors are super hot (you could smell brake pads being used hard). In my opinion, this a horrible idea because of thermal expansion and contraction, but its very likely the mechanic there doesnt understand this. Furthermore, the other mechanic there didnt seem to disagree with him on his procedures. This is scary because it points to systemic issues with the shop.Finally, a week later I had to take the car to another mechanic while I was on a trip because the grinding was getting worse. He checked the rear brakes and found my caliper was stuck. He replaced the rear brakes and the issue is gone. If the CarX mechanic bothered to check the rear, he would have easily found the issue and made a good sale, but instead no sale and zero future sales.So I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially those people who value safety for their car and family and general quality of work.And please dont tell me to call some 1-800 number - I am not in the mood for canned responses.

Called to see if they were able to install a used tire which they said was okay . Once I arrived they declined to service me due to my tire being used saying they dont work on used tires its a liability and because it had a bit of sealent from the cracked rim. I stated that I was really in need of getting the tires swapped due to me having a flat and remind you im about 16 miles from home and forgot my wallet so I didnt have much cash to spend but only enough to swap. This buisness doesnt care about the customers needs, doesnt care to help & only looks into digging in your pockets. Very unprofessional and rude. Maybe because Im a minority? bet if I was a white man they wouldve helped no questions asked. Good thing I dont live around ignorance .

No appointment, no problem. Had unexpected car trouble, Jason and the team managed to fit the repair into an already busy schedule while I waited, got me back on the road. The excellent service, reasonable prices, and expertise are why we have been going to car-x on Ogden for years.

I will only take my car to this Car X location! I have my oiled changed there every 3 months - the service is great! I have also had other work done and the prices were very reasonable. More important than the price is that you can trust these mechanics.

Honest, friendly and timely service. I had stopped into Firestone (which, in my experience, is always a mistake), to get a headlight replaced (because whoever designed my model of car decided that it’s a good idea to only be able to access the lightbulb through the wheel well and let’s be honest, I’m too lazy to do that if I have another option), and was told that they’d have to remove the bumper and charge me hundreds of dollars.So, I went to Car-X instead and they replaced the headlight without all of the wizardry Firestone insisted would be necessary (despite my knowledge to the contrary) and for a sane price.If you must get your car fixed by mechanics and techs who aren’t from a locally-owned business, this Car-X is a great option.And definitely DO NOT go to Firestone, unless you have a ton of money for which you can’t determine any better use.

I arrived with no appointment. I was kindly greated by the manager Joe and the assistant manager Jason. I let them know I needed an oil change on my car and it was no problem! I was offered coffee and a seat and the rest was taken care of! With a smile even! This was a good way to start my day! Thank you Joe, Jason and Ryan! I will definitely be back!

I brought my car in for an inspection after 1.5 years, thinking that the brakes might need replacing. The good news is that they didnt, but, more importantly, the Car-X employees didnt find a problem. Their integrity under these circumstances is very gratifying, and you can be assured that I will return when other service is needed!

Car X did an amazing job replacing my rear brakes and rotating my tires. I was able to get them fixed the same day. Jason was great to work with and so friendly! He was incredibly honest and communicated the cost and repairs needed in a timely manner.

Came here for an oil change and tire rotation. When I got here I also mentioned there was a funny smell in car when heater was on and asked if they could check the air filters. I also brought in some wiper blades I hadn’t got around to installing yet. They checked air filters and both were dirty so I had them replaced at a very reasonable charge. Brakes were also checked at no charge and they installed wiper blades. They weren’t pushy about anything else, just mentioning that front brakes were getting low. Manager at desk was very friendly and everything was done at a very reasonable price and in a timely manner. Will definitely be going back here for car maintenance going forward!

Great service and great price for a flat tire in the middle of a winter evening. I was the last customer to show up and the store very quite. I highly recommend this place.

My wife had issue with under the under body shield which came loose. I was at work and she took it here. We have never visited this place before but it was close to her work. They looked and it and took care of it without charge. My wife was super happy with service. Looks like this will be our future repairs and oil change location

This is THE PLACE to go for having ANY work done on your car. Joe and Jason have kept my 2005 Escape running perfectly. They never over charge or suggest work that doesnt need to be done. They do EVERYTHING to keep your car-- new or old, standard to luxury -- running like you just drove out of the showroom.

I must say after being told I needed upper and lower ball joints on my 97 dodge Dakota...…..I came here.....What a difference... Joe is awesome, took me in right away! Complete inspection on my front end and jeez...I only needed to have my U joints greased. Not only did HE save me over a thousand dollars in unneeded repairs but he went above and beyond what I expected!!! Great Place! My new go to!!!

Excellent service all the way around. I had called around trying to get a tire repaired and was told by everyone that it would be hour and a half to a two wait to just get to it. The guys at Car-x got me right in looked at the tire found a loose valve stem and put the tire back on within 20 mins and then didnt charge me for it. What a great experience, I would recommend them to anyone asking.

This is the only place Ill take my car from now on. These guys are the best. I talked to Jason before bringing my car in and he was very helpful in figuring out my suspension issues. Sean was the tech. and he really knows his stuff. He installed tie rods and found the leak where I was losing anti freeze. He told me it was only a loose clamp and fixed the problem. (The dealership wanted to replace the hoses and charge me a lot more for the tie rods) I was in and out in a couple of hours. Thank guys, I will definitely be back.

Brought my car in for a wheel alignment the dealer said I needed. As it turned out Jason showed me the printout of the alignment and I did not need it at this time! I appreciate the honesty and professionalism from Jason and the crew there. No charge, on time, and effecient.. Had the flex pipe of my exhaust replaced. I came in and it was done in and out hour-and-a-half and replaced my cabin filter for less than two hundred bucks! Very fair!

Ive had a range of services performed at this place, from oil changes to timing belt replacement to brakes. They always do a great job and are the most upfront honest mechanics around. Quick story - my brakes were making a noise recently and I thought I needed new brake pads, so I brought it in and they took a look and let me know it was just a loose plate that they fixed for free! Other shops mightve lied to me and sold me new brakes or taken advantage of my situation but Joe and Jason are really upstanding guys. Ive been taking my car here for years now and my review for this place is long overdue. I would give them 11 stars if I could. Joe and Jason run a truly exceptional shop here.

Only if I’m looking to get it fixed somewhere else two weeks later. The people at Car X are friendly and trustworthy. Nothing but great experiences over the years.

I got fair pricing on tires here. Customer service was great, and the waiting area was clean. After having tires replaced a few days later I noticed the tires were out of balance, one of the weights must have fallen off while I was driving. It was during the week and I had work, but the shop had their mechanics stay late so I could get my car fixed as soon as possible. 5 out of 5 stars!

But I was amazed at the quality of the work, waiting time was accurate to what they told me and they didnt try to sell me something I did not need. I came in today unable to find my warranty paperwork due to buying my tires at a Wisconsin location. The manager, Jason, took a look at my tire and found a nail. He had his people fix it up for me on the spot without a problem. Super helpful and very friendly.

******6/10/2021 - Update:******I used to come to the shop frequently and previously rated this positively. It has changed management the person who used to manage, Joe is no longer there. Its very unfortunate I am a sort of DIY guy and Joe was very collaborative.The person managing it now or answering the phone seems very defensive. As a returning customer I called with the assumption Joe was still there and he started redirecting me and I questioned why and asked if I could talk to Joe.I also provided detail on what I was looking to do, the shop used to be very collaborative. I was told that it would be $140 diagnostic plus plus plus plus plus plus just like a dealer. Part of the reason I chose this shop and have worked with this shop for over 10 years was the quality of service Joe had provided. Conversations were always collaborative.We all get busy, we all get frustrated. Just because I was questioning and didnt understand did not mean I was being rude. The person talking clearly was annoyed or busy or something and I called it out. Instead of talking it through after I apologized he hung up on me.Im not my perfect person. But I do expect businesses to respect loyalty to their customers. One simple phone call should not have ended in a hung up phone and additional research on a new shop.Super sad!!!Mark

Was recommended by family and the local auto shop. Needed a check up on my car before my road trip. Called on Thursday to make an appointment for Friday, and they got me in on Friday morning. Dont book appointment online, it goes through a nationwide system that screws it up and effectively doesnt do a thing ( I encountered this before at Gerber auto booking system as well, just call in is my advice). Anyway, dropped off at 9 and had a call by 10 with the assessment. Joe was very courteous, took his time explaining everything step by step, made sure to go over pricing, and answered questions. Work was done fast and efficiently and I was left more than satisfied (even though paying for repairs is never a fun thing to go through). Compared to going to my dealership shop (which ive always done) this was painless and where as at the dealership I wasnt caught off guard by the end total for the repairs. Ill be back for other tune ups and recommend the service to others.

I have to thank Joe Bettinger, the manager, for helping me keep my 2001 Toyota Camry running until it hit 275,000 miles. Joe ALWAYS gave me a good deal and the work was done right. Clean waiting area and close to Panera if you get hungry. Highly recommend Joe and his CarX team!!
