We came to the shelter on Monday looking for a puppy. As soon as I saw Pavel now Oakley We fell in love! He is fitting in perfectly with our pack.He loves his older sister Roxy and she loves him too. The staff is amazing! Be prepared for a long wait to get in, they only let a certain number of people in at a time. However, it makes the adoption process a lot more personal and enjoyable! My cat and puppy are the most loving beautiful animals I could ask for! Thanks for my family!

I had the pleasure of randomly stopping here to see there amazing selection of dogs. After the proper Covid guidelines were followed I had what seemed like the whole place to myself! With that being said I got to meet my 4 legged partner in crime!!!

Looking for a safe home for 2 Clean, Domestic cats. Both female… The Gray one is Turbo (Age 1 1/2). The mix of Gray,White, Brown is the Mom Queen Sheba (Age 2). Both w/Chips & shoots. If someone could please help me find them a new home I would greatly appreciate it! Turbo loves to run, play with balls, and the laser! She likes back rubs and attention too, but not too much because she likes her space. Sheba loves to hear her name and will most likely come if you call her. It did take a month to get new patient appts but it was worth it. I loved the veterinarian. She was very gentle with my kittens. She was extremely knowledgeable and forth coming with helpful resources and information for further care. I have 2 other cats that Ill be switching over to this facility.

Staff was awesome. First they came out to get a newborn cat out of my engine in my car. Then we had a great thorough health check up. Vets and techs could not of been nicer. So yes. We are taking her in for adoption. So greatful for the care.

Took Miss Miffy to get her fixed in Detroit location, their fees is super competitive 134$ but if I took her to other places would cost me 365$. I had my 4 babies fixed. I have a 15 year old Pomeranian that is in very poor health. She is not doing well. I was told by the agent on Friday to call the Detroit office on Monday to get my Pom in on a same day sit appointment I called today just to be told by Danielle “that is not how it works!” I tried to explain that the other agents told me the veteran has so my emergency appointment per day. Again Danielle told me they are scheduling in to September and I really need to get her in somewhere, basically not there.Danielle does not have much compassion for animals or their owners. Very upsetting experience!!!!!!I am disappointed in in the human society.I have walked in with a animal and gotten immediate help. I am not sure if it just Danielle or the new way they are.

We went there just to donate some blankets but we ended up looking at some dogs it was real nice place they took good care of their animals was thinking about going back and look at it some more later

I work with > and occasionally drive here for people who have no cars, or cannot go during work days. They are very professional and affordable. They have full vet hospital and can take care of nail clips and emergency calls. Because of Covid each parking space has a sign where you call and tell them which space you are in and they come to your car to get your pet since state mandates no customers in the building. Safer for everyone. They are really nice and friendly.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Unfortunately they don’t offer 0 stars. We took our furry family member on 7/21 she was diagnosed with diabetes. At which point Humulin N was prescribed. The dose that Dr. Stephanie Quinn issued was too high. When we called to confirm the amount of meds needed she said that- the dose was correct. Long story short 3 days after starting the insulin our fur family member ended up in the ER. We were told that too much insulin was given. My dog suffered 2 seizures and a GRAN MAL seizure the outcome wasn’t looking to good. The hardest decision has to be made. So we let go of our beautiful furry child. Our hearts are broken😢😢💔💔💔🖤🖤. Please research the vet you take your loved ones. They told us to YouTube how to administer the insulin injections. I truly expected more compassion and professionalism from them. At least to show how to administer meds, and to be willing to help. The ER (Veterinary Emergency Services West) said her death was unnecessary and avoidable. I recommend you go else where.

Great establishment for adoption and for quick affordable pet check ups. The website for adoption is always up to date, and when I got my fur baby from them last year they were very helpful in telling me what to expect when taking a rescue home.

Its a great place to get a pet, but the wait time to go inside is ridiculous. Better off going to the humane society across the street, they have more of a selection and lets you right in. And you also dont have to pay a dime.

We got there about a half an hour before they closed and you have to park in a spot and call inside. They told us that they had appointments ahead of us and could not accommodate us. When my daughter started to cry I guess the guy took pity on us and told us he would fit Us in but we would have to wait. They were good for their word and took us inside and introduced us to the dogs that they had. I am impressed with the center it is beautiful. I remember years ago the original Michigan Humane Society was pretty much just all cages and smelly and overcrowded and this was nothing like that. The dogs had beautiful enclosures and padded bed and it was clean and well lit. We did not find a dog to adopt there, however they were very very good to us.

I usually love this shelter but I recently went during the Covid precautions and once you get there you must call the phone number on the sign I’m their parking lot to let them know that you’re there which is a different number than what is provided online just to be told that they have no cats for adoption during this time. Please figure out a more organized system so people don’t drive 45 minutes to be let down.

The staff is usually nice. They have covid protocols to keep everyone safe but you dont get to be with your dog while they are being treated. You have to just trust that they are doing what they say and appointments are hard to get! They are booked a month in advance for regular appointments. Hold times can be long. Even emergency appointments are hard to get. You have call at 8am and even then they fill up before 8:30am.

I called for emergency care I was told they have nothing until March 2021 and maybe they couldve seen my dog if she had been there before. The lady suggested I take my dog to an emergency vet but she was rude and not helpful at all to be an animal lover.

This was the only place that I could find that was taking appointments for my cat to be spayed. I was given an appointment and told they have a free clinic coming up. I will be there and I will be giving the Michigan Humane Society a sizable donation!!

So on Saturday we went to both the Macomb Michigan Humane Society and the Westland Michigan Humane Society. We wanted to meet some dogs and ideally take one home with us that day. We were walk ins at the Macomb location which was our mistake. They only had 10 dogs to look at, all of which werent compatible with us according to the pictures and info they had available for us to look at. We looked online and found a dog at the Westland location and the site said walk ins were welcome so we headed off to take a look. We arrived and saw signs telling us we had to call before walking in. So much for walk ins. We called and they told us it would be an hour wait to get in, and the meet and greets would be over, but we could look at pictures of the dogs. Which we could do online. So in sum. We wanted to rescue a dog, and we havent been able to get to even meet a dog to say Lets give this one a home! If anyone knows where we can find a puppy to give a loving home, please respond!

These heros that work here from the Drs to staff, are professional and caring, they went out of their way for me and my dog, even with the cancer diagnosis, they were reassuring and comforting!

I adopted the sweetest 3 legged kitty in the world and it was all thanks to them for saving her life. She was found on the side of the freeway in a plastic bag just days old with her other 2 litter mates who had passed away. Her name is Gaia. Thank you for saving her life. Shes gotten me thru the hard times.

Michigan Humane is EXCELLENT...! The nurses, Doctors and whole staff are kind, friendly, informed and will do anything thay can to make your pets visit quick and comfortable. They even got me in when i accidentally went to the wrong location for our appointment..! That was AMAZING and we were truly grateful.!! 5 stars for sure..!

The Person that came out to assist me..her name was Tiffany...she was Very thorough and had 1st hand Personal knowledge of Animal Care. And what it requires to care for Animals individually.✌️

I was bringing in a feral mother cat and kittens and they have it set up perfect for Covid. We parked in the parking lot and called the number ahown on the sign. We answered some questions over the phone and they came out with the paperwork to sign and took the mama and kittens. This way the animals were relaxed in the car before they were taken and not scared hearing other animals before being called on if we were waiting inside. I think they should think of continuing this after Covid is done. I feel this is better for the animals being surrendered.

My wife and I had a very big day yesterday. We had to surrender Sheamus because he was starting to fight with our other dog Pepper. So we decided that it would no longer be feasible for us to keep him. So we turned them over to the Humane Society yesterday evening. We miss him very badly and I hope we didnt do the wrong thing. I believe it was the right choice to me. So when we got to do Humane Society. Steve the guy at the intake was awesome hes a very nice guy. I believe that they would do what they have to do. When it comes to finding him a new home. I hope you understand that he is a good dog hes not mean towards other dogs hasnt been since we got now. My wife and I cried during dinner after prayer. Because we do miss him badly already. So please Stevie the Michigan Humane. Find Seamus a very nice boy to be with. The people at Michigan Humane were very respectful kind and courteous. They do their job well also the Humane Society is a no-kill shelter thats why we took him there. We love you Seamus please take care of yourself and look out for your new family. I live in Detroit and my neighborhood has several feral cats and I wanted to bring the cats in for the TNR program (Trap, Neuter, Release). The way this program is set up makes it virtually impossible for people to bring cats in for TNR. Apparently there is some online training you have to take to become a certified TNR person in the community (???) but there is no easy information to access online to do it. I’ve tried for the last few days to get ahold of someone to get the information in order to do whatever I need to do so I can bring these cats in for TNR and I’ve gotten no helpful response or information. The whole purpose of a TNR program is to help prevent the birth of more feral cats and when you make it extremely difficult for people who want to participate, you defeat the whole purpose of the program. I know the Humane Society is probably stretched quite thin right now but that’s all the more reason to focus on programs that will PREVENT more animals from being brought to your door.

I was calling about a baby goose left by itself at the school (an open park area) where I work at Martin Luther King @ 12th. They werent able to pick up the birdie, and Im afraid of animals and wouldnt be able to get it to them, but I didnt want it to be attacked by dogs or rats, etc. They suggested I call a wildlife refuge, which I did and left a message. They returned my call a that eve, but I didnt hear it and I had already left the goosling anyway. I hope it faired alright.

The price was the same as most veterinarians visit, not cheap like they claim. The techs were very polite and helpful. It took a long time to get the appointment and they didnt tell us anything. The vet recommended an expensive medication but later said that benadryl was fine. I wouldnt recommend this place for a vet visit (especially if you have questions).

I will sing the praises of Wayne Co Animal control to the heavens! I showed up Christmas Eve after having been robbed with all my daughter’s Christmas gifts stolen out of my car crying and desperate to make sure my angelic 12yr old daughter would have at least one gift this holiday that’s she’s always wanted despite the robbery. I was broke, crying and desperate and they saved the holiday completely!Not only did i find the perfect dog for our home n life but also was given so many different doggy related stuffs (💗blanket, toys *4* of them, food, treats, bowls, collar, leash, medication for her medical condition, tote bag, 3 different flavors of food, microchipping, and first course of all shots and spaying💗) Also I must add that every staff member working with me Christmas Eve melted my heart with true kindness! Thank u for saving our holiday, I’ll never forget it!!!

DTE was cutting some branches in my back yard and I overheard them talking and realized they had found a cat. I went outside to further investigate and saw they had found the most precious little kitten. They said that none of them could keep her so I said I would take care of it and brought her in my house. She was hungry and cold and had runny infected looking eyes. Fortunately my dog had gone to work with my boyfriend that day so I was able to feed her and let her curl up in some blankets. After exhausting all other options I finally called the humane society. Not only did they take her, but they were there before 4pm, I called around 1. They were really nice and were just as taken with her as I was. They assured me that she would be well cared for, and her eyes would be immediately taken care of. The officer also assured me that she was sure the little thing would be adopted out right away, as she was extremely cute and they dont have many baby kittens in the winter. By the time they left I felt really good about my decision.

Tried to get help for a Neighborhood Cat that showed up on our porch with a Very,Very bad injury!!! All the lady I was talking to kept telling me, was We Can Humanely Youthinize It When You Bring It In!!! I couldnt even get past the lady on the phone because she said its her job to evaluate the cases!!! Like, As much as we Donate to them we cant get help to save him??? Thank God for River Rouge Animal Control, and Shelter to Home!!! They got him the Medical attention he needed, and now hes in a Foster Home until he is all better, then being adopted out to a Fur Ever home like he should be!!!

Every staff member who helped us was incredibly nice. But someone made the mistake of giving the dog a green color type (we wanted green, which is designated to dogs with more laid back personalities), while it was on two medications for injuries it sustained when she was brought in. The dog ended up being incredibly high energy and would go crazy if she couldn’t see us. We paid a $275 adoption fee and ended up having to surrender her a couple months later due to constantly trying to kill our cat and breaking out of the house.

I wish I could give negative stars. I found a cat and they said you have to call for information. When you can they dont provide any Information over the phone and you have to drive out there. I get there the cat I want was adopted a long time ago. They say they have problems with that site, then why use it? Or why not anwser questions on the phone to correct it? I will never do business with them again. I will go to anti cruelty society. STAY FAR FROM HERE. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

My calls were repeatedly ignored or not returned, and then they claimed to not have my correct contact info at the end. I will not be returning or donating.
