I stopped in to have my brakes serviced and an oil change. I have not found a reliable shop since the one I went to for many years closed. Carmen helped me out, he was very friendly and great at letting me know what was going on. The job was done same day and the price was reasonable. My car is running great, thank you!

Mitch and his team did an excellent job taking care of us. At the end of the service, the car works excellent and I am glad I dont have to get another. Needed to replace an oil pressure sensor in my vehicle. I called quite a few places with the best reviews and AAMCO offered the absolute best price for the replacement. Carmen the mechanic took complete care of my vehicle. Carmen was very thorough, friendly and professional. I was constantly getting updates on the status of my vehicle and felt very confident that it was in the best hands. Oil pressure sensor and the associated gaskets were all successfully replaced. Feel confident in their service and know your vehicle will be taken care of.

Rather disappointed, attempted to scam my mother out of $3,000 and told me over the phone that the transmission check was free only to then charge my mother, thinking she was stupid, out of $200. Do not go here.

Jacob and Carmen were super helpful when I first brought my car here! I was doing my front pads and rotors myself and had an old rotor that was really stuck onto the hub. I brought it in, Carmen got it off easily and even put the new rotor on that I purchased from an auto parts store. They both were super honest and did the job super quick as well! I was a first time customer and had an all around good experience. When I first contacted Jimmy and explained what I thought was wrong with my car he said they would check out and get back to me. The next day I dropped off my car early and left my key in the deposit box. A little thing like a nice new deposit box, securely locked with forms to fill out along with pens to fill out the forms was reassuring to me that they are thoroughand probably do good work. I received a call from Jimmy with a quote to fix my car, turned out to be something other than I thought it was and less expensive to fix. So didnt try to gouge me and was honest about the repair my car needed. Communication was good, got a call back in the afternoon that the repair was complete, my problem was fixed in a timely manner. Looked to be an organized and clean shop. Clean restroom for customers. I am a Facility Manager by profession and EPA and OSHA compliance appeared to be in place. The repair cost did not seem out of line for the work I had done. I will definitely be going back.

I bought my brothers old car off of him under the impression it needed a new transmission. Therefore, brought it to AAMCO in Des Plaines. After they thoroughly evaluated the car they assured me that in fact it wasn’t the transmission and that the break system was completely destroyed and fully needed to be replaced.. break pads, rotors, calipers, etc. It was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a shop. Rob was extremely helpful! Him and his team were honest, knowledgeable, affordable, and really helped me out during a bad time with unemployment during this pandemic. My fiancé‘s car is currently broken down and we will be bringing her car in there this week. GREAT shop, will forever come here!

I have been here many time, and have seen three different managers. By far this time was the most pleasant. Not only did Jacob give me excellent customer service, but he got me a FREE lyft ride too and from my house. The car was done in a timely matter, and all around was great.

Jimmy was so nice! I made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation on my Honda CR-V, and those were both done within 45min. They also checked the car for other issues and let me know that everything else looked great! Price was reasonable and I will definitely be back for routine maintenance.

My check engine light came on and I was told that it was my transmission. I drove over to AAMCO without an appointment and was greeted by Jimmy. After explaining what was wrong with the car, Jimmy was awesome and helped me figure out that I still had 5,000 miles left on my powertrain warranty. He saved me a couple of thousands of dollars. His honesty and professionalism are outstanding. My family and I are very grateful. Hopefully we dont have any more issues with out cars ;) but if we do AAMCO in Des Plaines will be the place we go. We found this Aamco location online after having car trouble near the airport. They offered to tow our vehicle to their shop for free, which was very generous. The next day, after having inspected our vehicle, this shop told us that we needed to drain the fuel tank and fuel lines, completely cleaning out the fuel system. We told them to not begin any work on the vehicle until we called them back. Aamco called us back and said we also needed to replace the fuel pump. We again asked them to wait to do any work on the vehicle until we discussed the repairs. We ultimately decided to tow the vehicle to another shop. At that point, we were told that we did not need to replace the fuel pump! And then they informed us that they had already cleaned out the fuel system - without our authorization. They also then wanted to charge us for the tow service to the shop, which initially we were told was free. This kind of shop gives mechanics everywhere a bad reputation. I do not recommend this shop, and I encourage anyone reading this to take their business elsewhere.

I made a review on yelp and wanted to make one here as well. Jacob and Carmen at Aamco actually helped me a lot. I thought my engine had gone bad because I was losing coolant, and another shop had told me it was the motor. All it was, was a radiator cap that had no pressure and I was losing all the coolant. Unbelievable, unlike others they could have lied but stayed honest and made everything very simple for me. I will be back and will definitely refer everyone I know here. Thank again you two! Honesty is a trait that is rarely found anymore, you two killed it!

I’ve never written a review before, i am a bit older. But bare with me and read on. This is the second time I’ve been to Aamco. The first time was a pretty good experience but this time was fantastic. Jacob the manager explained everything very carefully and kept the cost down on everything for me as well. Carmen the technician also came out and said hi to me shook my hand and helped me understand what was going on. What another shop wanted to charge me $700 it was only $140 at Aamco. These two are wonderful and I will be returning for the rest of my repairs! Thank you Jacob again for an amazing experience and showing me there is still shops I can trust!

Id like to thank Jimmy and John on the phenomenal work they did to my vehicle. I came in for an oil change and I was very short on time. Jimmy took me right in. While John was working on my vehicle I told them both about a problem I was having with my rear hatch, and Ive had three mechanics look at it with no luck of finding the short in the wiring system. Within 15 minutes John came back and told me he had repaired the short for me, I couldnt believe what he said let alone that he have repaired it already. All I can say thank you so much! Theyre very polite and courteous, extremely knowledgeable and very very helpful. I would recommend them to anybody!

Jimmy and John were great! They did the free vehicle courtesy check on our 2001 Town and Country, found the problem, clearly explained what was wrong and quoted cost to fix it. They said it would be done in about two hours and called us when it was done two hours later. The van runs like a dream now. They are both very friendly and easy to work with. Let me tell you I am a very smart shopper. I do my homework as far as getting the best price and the top quality of everything. More importantly, when you throw in the mix an elite customer service experience as well as honesty when it comes to something as important as my car, Im sold. With Aamco in Des Plaines, I got all of the aforementioned boxes checked. Jimmy and Sam truly listened to what I was concerned with and found that a previous estimate I had gotten was inaccurate in a few areas. Not only did the save me $300.00 in the end, but because they were so thorough, they found a loose strut mount that needed replacing. This was critical and could have ended up costing me thousands in the near future if theyd missed it like the 2 other places I went. THANK YOU JIMMY AND SAM YOU GUYS ARE EVERYTHING! Ill refer anyone who asks to Aamco. Im a customer service manager professionally and was highly impressed! 20 STARS!

I went in to get my struts fixed which took longer than expected, no big deal. The next day I hear this weird clicking/sound and the vehicle sounds unsafe to drive so I call Jacob and take it back. The tech drives with me in the car and when I ask him if he hears the noise he says “a little but it will be hard to tell where it’s coming from”. When we get back to the shop, he tells Jacob he hears no noise. I asked them to check my heat because it went out and they said it could be 1 of 2 things but they weren’t sure and i would have to fix both which would cost me $1100. Stay away from this place. They appear to be nice people but don’t try to rectify issues that they have created, nor are they knowledgeable about fixingvehicles.Update: I emailed the address below a week ago and received no response. I rest my case.
