Garys is the best independent mechanic in the metro area. They are highly communicative, are HONEST about repairs that are necessary, and wont try to swindle you into paying for more services than your vehicle needs. I thought I needed to have my brake pads replaced due to a squealing noise but they were kind enough to check and assure me that they were still in good shape (rather than just charge me to replace them anyway). The source of the squealing turned out to be a loose alternator/serpentine belt for which they only charged me 30 minutes of labor. I am overjoyed to have discovered them in the neighborhood where I work. Thank you for being an honest business with fair prices!
I always leave satisfied after I take my car in. Amazing place.
I’ve been to Gary’s multiple times to fix my POS wrangler. Dan and Greg have always been great. Dan will shoot you straight and has some of the best prices in town. It’s hard to find a mechanic you can trust. I will not take my vehicle anywhere else in Denver. Thanks guys!
Great service! I showed up without an appointment. They got me right in and swapped my tire in about 20 minutes. Will be back!
I love these guys! The are nice, straight forward, they aren’t pushy and they give you the facts. I have been going here for years and have trusted them with a few cars.
Checkpoint has been servicing my 98 Toyota for a number of years. Its an old truck but it has more miles to give. Checkpoint is thorough, fair and experienced. They keep me on the road. There is nowhere else Id go for service.
Gary looked at my car for free when it wasnt running right, great service, would definitely recommend.
I absolutely can not say enough good things about Garys! I have never had such a great experience with any other car repair shop. They do not try to sell you things you do not need. Very fair prices. Honest caring people. I highly recommend anyone to take your vehicle here for any repair needs. I will never take my vehicle to anyone else! I Wish I could give them 10 stars!
I CANNOT say enough good things about my experience here. I am going to go into some detail so if you (potential customer) dont care to read the whole thing just take this away- Dan, the owner, is honest, punctual, an excellent communicator and also, just plain kind :) His team is reliable and knowledgeable. Do not hesitate bringing your car here.I am from out of town and I called on a monday midday for a check engine light. Dan promptly said no problem bring it in tomorrow. I dropped my 2008 Land Rover (so not an easy or nice new car to deal with) at 8am (and it was promptly brought off the street and into their gated area). He called several times during the day explaining in detail the issues and several options. Needless to say he gave me a final quote and an estimate of when it would be done. I was called just before said time estimate, arrived back at the shop, and was charged exactly what was quoted. (They also kept the parts they replaced to show me exactly what was wrong)A few days later my check engine light was on again and I just popped in at open and he managed to squeeze me in to check again. Confirmed that all was okay, reset my check engine light and I was on my way. (He also fixed my cigarette lighter, no charge.) He made sure that I knew I could call back if any more problems arose and he would refund me for the part that he fixed for me.Absolute best experience I have ever had with a mechanic/auto shop.
This is an honest and quality business. I highly recommend them for anyone needed any automotive repair.
Took my car in to have my serpentine belt changed, turns out it only needed to be tightened. Dan and his receptionist Hannah didnt even charge me for labor, and they got it done the same day I called to bring it in. These guys are great
Been driving around the city with a dead AC looking for solutions, and these guys saved my life within hours! (or I might die of sunstroke somewhere on I-25) The price was fair, and they definitely wont upsell you something you dont need. Thought I had a bad compressor and was ready to pay thousands for it, yet ended up being a leak in the circulation system and only got charged for total 200 bucks for diagnosis & fix & new refrigerant. These guys are truly surgeons of automobiles!
Been going to Garys for over 7 years. Honest and fair pricing. Dan is helpful and give great vehicle advice. I just bought a new car, but once the service package is done Ill be coming back!
Everything you read in the comments about these guys being good is 100% true. Just be aware that bringing your car here to have an exhaust system installed and spending upwards of a grand will not guarantee your car will pass the emissions test.I told them the reason I brought my car here was that they had excellent reviews online and I needed to pass the emissions test to register the vehicle. $973 and over a week later, it failed for multiple (3) reasons. Then, when I brought my car back per their request, my car sat in their parking lot for 2 days while they did nothing on it and then recommended I bring my car to the manufacturers mechanic (which costs an assload). My car isnt perfect, but take my review for what its worth.
We have been going to Garys for 5 years at least. They are always honest and reasonable with their prices and what actually needs to be repaired/replaced. Their staff is friendly as well. I trust, and have come to rely on, their service.
Been going here since I moved to Denver. No run arounds with these guys. They will tell you exactly what your car needs, if you dont already know, and get you going fast.
I was interested in purchasing a car at a nearby dealer and brought it to Garys for an inspection. They found an issue with the vehicle that I never would have been able to and saved me from a poor purchase. The staff was very thorough and professional and I recommend anyone come here
Gary was is the nicest! I was very skeptical about this place but when I saw all the good reviews I decided to give it a try. Gary got my car fix in no time and he made sure the process was easy. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone and the prices are affordable.
Since moving away from home in Boston for work I was afraid I wouldnt find a trustworthy team again. Ive gone to Garys now a few times for work Ive needed done and every time the work is solid and at a fair price. I no longer have a garage, time, or family to help work on my vehicles and Garys is a huge relief as everything is always a fair price and communicated clearly. Thank you for treating your customers with so much respect, I will continue to send my work here and suggest the same for my friends.Best,-Arthur Hilson
Most honest, reliable, and friendliest mechanics Ive ever come across. We have brought Dan 5 Lexus vehicles and a mustang. They know their stuff and always do what they say, in the time frame they say, and for a very fair price. I drive an hour past countless mechanics to go there, and always will
The workers here are super friendly and explain your issue. They were very efficient and quick with their work. I definitely recommend coming here!
Simply the best! I have been with Garys for 6plus years and will never go anywhere else. Not only can they fix anything, they will explain it in a way a car dummy like me can understand. Working with Garys on my Jeep has literally saved me thousands! Their repairs work and they last. I consider the folks at Garys friends, and who says that about their mechanics? Trust me, you cannot go wrong here. They will drop anything to work on a valued customer or a brand new one. If I could do more than 5 stars I would. Thanks guys!
STAY AWAY!!!!!I brought my car into get a simple AC coolant recharge. I get a call back saying that a seal that had just been replaced was bad. I said okay, just fix it. I picked the car up, and an hour later another seal blew. (Suspicious) . They fixed it, and then gave the car back. I drove it for a week, and then the whole AC system went down. I took it back and ask them to look at it. They said oh, the AC compressor is blown. Its not our fault. I took it to another shop in Lakewood and had them fix it. The coolant had been overfilled by 25 %, which caused the seal to blow. There was no oil (which should have been replaced) in the AC Compressor, and that caused the AC compressor to sheer and freeze. The end result cost me 835.00 in addition to the 200.00 that Garys charged me.I tried to talk to Dan the owner, and he said: Your accusing us.... Then he accused me of trying to defraud him.. Ridiculous.Well Dan, I have the paperwork from the shop that correctly repaired the vehicle. So well see you with the Better Business Bureau, or in Court. Your choice. In response to the comments below. You keep lying and lying Dan. I have never done any work on my vehicle. The o-rings came with the tubes that were installed by a mechanic in Avon. . You said maybe the manufacturer shipped with the wrong o-rings. Right, the manufacturer shipped 10k parts with the wrong o-rings..But leaving that all aside. So, all the o-rings and the compressor go out after your guy changes adds coolant? Thats all you had to, add coolant. So you overfilled it. By 25% That was the diagnosis by another reputable mechanic in Lakewood who even called to give you the story. Youre in denialWhy dont you just do the honest thing and pay for your mistakes?
I really appreciate this place and the way that they do business. Ive been going to have my car serviced at Garys for over a year now and every time Ive been in they have been professional, fast, and honest. I never feel as if they are suggesting repairs I dont need. Highly recommend!
Amazing service!!
I cannot say enough good things about my experiences with Garys Auto Service. I have returned to this shop multiple times and refuse to go anywhere else. Dan is the man!! He is very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and he genuinely cares about delivering good customer service. Hes also fair (or more than fair) when it comes to pricing. They are extremely dependable and honest with their work.I had a Ford Focus break down on the side of the road. They were able to have a tow truck there right away to assist me. The engine was blown which at that point I decided to salvage it. Dan not only took the time to find a company to buy my piece of junk, but always towed my car to the salvage yard at no cost!!!My current car (Mazda3) has had minor issues and the only place I will take it is to Garys Auto. I never have to wait long or worry about if its really fixed! They always take GREAT care of me and have never done me wrong. I can always count on them.I always leave satisfied and with a smile. I would recommend this auto shop to anyone and everyone! Thank you Garys Auto service. We will see you next time! :)
First dealings with Dan at Garys Auto Service this week, it wont be the last. Very honest and great to work with. I actually accused them of under-charging for his service to my old Buick Regal. Have never done that before! Steered us straight to the best solution! Will definitely be back with my other cars. Also, recommending to others! Like having an brother in the repair business...very trustworthy.
I have never felt more comfortable at an auto service shop - I truly feel like these guys are honest and genuine. They never try to find problems where problems dont exist just to make some extra money. It is evident from their high reviews that everyone feels this way, as well. Keep up the great work Garys! In a world where many people/companies are deceptive and manipulative - it is nice to know a company like this still exists. Dan is also super friendly!
The employees did a great job helping me out. Although they did not find the problem with my car they helped me narrow down what it may be and told me what to do if my issue happens again. I took my car to two other places (one was the dealer that wished to charge me $300.00 just to diagnose the issue) and there response was basically no help.Garys again was honest and gave me clear things to do and I did what they said and the issue is now resolved.
My experience with Dan was awesome! His customer service and mechanic advice was honest and very professional. He could have made repairs to my vehicle, but chose to tell me it was in my best interest to not spend the money on the repairs. Garys Automotive has gained my business. I will utilize their used car check before I purchase my next used car. Expert service!!
After not having to worry about repairing my car for a very ling time I was nervous trying to find somewhere new that was trust worthy and reliable. At first I chose Garys Auto Service because of all the great reviews, then because the price was very reasonable and honestly the cheapest. Although I sometimes hesitate when going for the cheapest but I do not regret it one bit now. They went above and beyond for me to ensure that I was safe in my car. They even double checked their work a couple weeks after the original repair and found the source of the noise I kept hearing. I was so happy that I felt safe in my car now and it is all thanks to the amazing people at Garys!
Full engine tune up, plugs, wires, oil, filters, etc. + replaced cat converter, and some other exhaust repairs. Car passed emissions next day. He helped me buy the parts online to save some money and was incredibly fair on pricing. Car is still running awesome today, 99 Sub Legacy with 220k miles. Highly recommended. He had more reviews, but moved the shop from Alameda closer to downtown. His past reviews were all excellent.
I was on the hunt for a small local mechanic in Denver and found exactly what I was hoping for. I took in our company vehicle to Garys and couldnt be happier. Got our car in asap. Service was fast, numbers were exactly what I was quoted on. I was so pleased with them I had my own car fixed there. Needed a fuel pump replaced. I was told the honest answer of 2 options. The cheaper route would last me 3 months or do it right the first time and go with a better product. These guys know what there talking about!
Fair prices, fast service. These guys are great, I had 72 Chrysler with an ignition problem. I had the car towed there and they were able to fix it in a day.Dan told me there would be a diagnostic charge before they started work on the car. They were able to remedy the problem during the diagnostic process so there were no additional charges! Im very happy with their service.Ill definitely be back!
I just left them today with my car for a noise coming from my brakes. Instead of pressuring me to buy a service I didnt need when he easily couldve seeing as I am far from car savvy, Gary was honest and informed me what was happening between my brakes and rotors. Since I had fairly new pads keeping metal damage from happening despite a grooved, recently resurfaced rotor, he recommended to wait before buying something that I wouldnt need for a while longer until the pads wear. He saved me money and has earned a place as my go to mechanic if I have car problems. :)
“HIRE A PRETEND BOYFRIEND FOR MECHANICS”, was the name of the business I was going to start. I couldn’t tolerate or afford one more scam from the Mechanic Industry. I’ve taken my vehicles to multiple “accredited mechanics”, and have spent more money fixing my vehicles than the cars are even worth.A reputable male business man, recommended that I take my vehicle into Gary’s Auto Service. Gary’s Auto Service has been ethical, fair, honest, and has saved my pocket book hundreds of dollars. For the first time in my life, a mechanic shop genuinely cares about what is best for my car. I always get an estimation and I have always compared their estimation with several competitors. Gary’s Auto Services and prices have always been the best deal.I appreciate the fact that their are no hidden fee’s. As a female, I appreciate their integrity with keeping business, strictly business. No one has given me their business card and offered to take me out for drinks, or suggested that I friend them on Facebook.I recommend this shop to everyone, especially females. I no longer need to, “Hire a pretend boyfriend for mechanics”. Gary’s Auto Service has earned my personal trust.I am so grateful to join Gary’s Auto Services lifetime customers.
If you are a woman... beware. I brought my car in for a new brake switch because it was the nearest place to me and I was not about to drive further to my usual place (30mi away) with no brake lights as that is unsafe. The mechanic I spoke to who greeted me in back was kind and listened to me when I explained the problem, so my initial impression was good. I go in and sit in the lobby/waiting area and first off, I see a couple walk in. The woman explained what was wrong with her car, and the man at the front desk (I believe his name was Dan) said ok then turned to her husband as if to completely disregard her and I heard him ask, and did you notice anything with the car? So this guy was already not looking so great in my book. Then, after waiting I realized I was in a time crunch because I had somewhere I needed to be that evening, and needed to know if my car would be there overnight so I could plan accordingly with a second vehicle. I went up and politely asked a simple yes or no question: Will my car be ready today or will it need to be kept overnight? Nowhere in this question did I hint that it was a problem if it needed to be kept, I was looking for a yes, no, or I dont know. Instead of answering me, he rolled his eyes and said if you think you can get better service somewhere else, you can go find it. Im sorry - but EXCUSE ME??? Where in my question did I infer that I was planning on leaving?! It was a yes or no! So I blatantly told him not to be rude to me, to which he claimed he wasnt doing so (false!). They did end up fixing my car that day, which I appreciate - However this place is not worth being treated like any less of a human being because you may be a woman or Dan woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Go somewhere else!Update in response to comment: I believe the hostile tone and immaturity of the response shows my point perfectly, so thanks for reiterating that! Of course some of my reviews are negative - if someone treats me as badly as you or any of the other places you are seeing have, I will make sure they hear about it. I never asked for anything free or mentioned a word about taking down my review, so not sure where that idea came from. Seems plenty of people in these reviews agree with me.
I love Garys Auto Service in Denver, Colorado! Honest, trustworthy, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, skilled and fast. They are helping me keep my old (very old!) Toyota Corolla with many miles running as long as possible with advice, reassurance and excellent quality service. Plus, where else can you look at art and drink really good coffee while waiting for something to be checked out or fixed on your car?
Prompt, fast and great service! Very honest and trustworthy. It was the most convenient and easiest maintenance I ever had to do on the car. Another repair shop (who works on commission) told me I needed some major maintenance. I came here for a second opinion. They told me I didnt need to get the repair done. I was very impressed.
Wonderful place to have your car repaired and be back to life again. The mechanics are wonderful. Highly recommended.
Dan is the man at getting your car fixed, gave me some solid advice and got my jeep back on the road fast.
Two Thumbs Up to Gary’s Auto Service – Again! I have been going to Gary’s Auto Service for years. Dan (the owner) and his team are my go to auto repair shop. My recent visit this week again was outstanding. Dan analyzed the problems I had with my Sentra, and prioritized the items he found so I could select which ones I needed to repair now. He explained to me the necessity of each item and we discussed the details of each. He did not pressure me to correct them all at once. Another experience I had was when the timing belt on my daughter’s car broke causing major damage to the engine. After reviewing the damage, Dan advised against engine repair or replacement stating the repair costs would be more than the car was worth. Can you imagine an auto repair shop/mechanic turning down a major repair job? He even told me if I found a used car replacement, he could do an inspection, and he would advise whether it was a good purchase or not. Whenever I need to have an auto repair, I know Dan will provide a proper analysis, at a fair price, and best of all I have experienced no rework. A good shop that you like and trust is hard to find. If you need an auto repair, give Gary’s Auto Service a call, and speak with Dan. You’ll be glad you did.
You cant put a value on being able to trust and rely on the people you bring your car to, especially when you know nothing about cars.Dan and the team at Garys have never been anything less than amazing. They can always get you in last minute, with no drama, and I always know they are giving me the best service and a great rate.
Have now been to Garys more than five (unrelated) times, for things ranging from air filter to rack and pinion changes. Dan and the team are great every time. When you are like me and not a professional mechanic all you can do is trust and have faith in what your mechanic tells you, and I certainly feel that I can trust the Garys team.
Dan was extremely timely and helpful in fixing my Subaru Outback. I was in a bind with the engine overheating every time I drove a mile down the road. I called him on Monday morning at 8:00 am and he returned my call at 8:05 that morning and had the car fixed by the end of the day at a very affordable price. He even drove me to work...himself. I have found my Denver Auto Shop and you should seriously consider bringing your car to Dan at Garys Auto as well if you like the small town feel with your mechanic rather than just being another car in the garage.
I’ve been going to Gary’s for 4 years ever since I got to Denver. I’ve been through thick and thin with Dan and Von and they have always taken care of me. Clutch replacement, new blower motor, tires, oil change, etc. big jobs, or small jobs, they can do it all. Fair quotes that match the price you pay. Dan Will even take the time to explain to you how a part works, and why it will need repair, or replacement. They will not try to up sell you, or make you pay for repairs you don’t need. You will pay a fraction of the cost you would pay at the dealership for the same repairs. GO TO GARY’S, YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID. 😁
New in town and had friends recommend this place. Took really good care of my car. Fair prices for amazing service. They even listed off stuff I could wait on to help me budget out my repairs. Affordable, trustworthy, and great work.
I recently moved to Denver and after a 600+ mile drive, the steering on my 1982 Jeep CJ7 went out. I searched for a reputable and competent repair shop and narrowed it down to 2 shops. The first one tightened up the steering wheel and said that it was all fixed. They werent even close so I brought it to Garys next and I am glad I did. There were quite a few things that needed repair and I received a fair and honest quote (as verified by my Jeep specialist back in MN). They repaired my Jeep swiftly and made sure that everything was in the best possible shape. And when it needed some minor adjustments, I simply brought it in and they made sure I drove away happy. I would HIGHLY recommend Garys if you are looking for an honest and quality auto repair shop!!
I recommend anyone who needs their car checked out to go here, they are straight shooter and will not mislead you in anyway! I will never take my car to another garage here in Denver. They spend their time on your car, and will not let you drive away with anything wrong in your car. Dan took very good care of me, and really made me feel like he cared about me, my care, and my safety on the road.
Garys auto service saved me $1900. I took my car to a Volkswagen dealership and the mechanic at the dealership said a part was leaking oil and needed to be repaired. I wanted a second opinion, and the guys at Garys found nothing wrong with the part. Dan and his team were honest and performed the inspection within a few hours. I will solely be using Garys Auto Service going forward.
Have taken great care of my all familys cars for many years! Always honest as far a telling us what work can be put off or doesnt need to be done at all, and what needs to be addressed sooner. Great prices and service to boot!
Went in as a first time customer and had a very positive experience. Actually, unlike any other auto shop Ive ever been to. Went in thinking I had major issues when it was just my battery and terminal connections. Excellent customer service. No up-selling what-so-ever. They listened to me, diagnosed what the problem was, and fixed exactly that. Not like other auto shops which give you a thousand dollar invoice when you just come in for an oil change. They also surprised me and installed a fuel filter for free! I had the fuel filter sitting in the car and asked them how much for installation in addition to my other repairs. I decided id just go ahead and install it myself. But on picking up my car I couldnt find my fuel filter. At first I thought they might of misplaced it, but to my joyous surprise they actually installed it free of charge! All in all great shop, I would recommend it! A++
I drive an old Subaru that still gets me around. I took it to Gary with wheel alignment problems. Not only was Gary professional, but he was honest as well, detailing the other issues I had with my car that would need to be fixed in the future. His prices are fair, and his shop is very clean and organized. I drove away with my wheels fixed in a timely manner, and peace of mind knowing my car was in good hands. I will be returning to Garys for all of my auto needs from now on!
Got the job done but not well. Employees dont know how to correct situations if they result. Im bummed I went here. Try any other mechanic even if its minor. They literally left my keys in the ignition just waisting power while I paid in a open lot. MY CAR COULD HAVE GOTTEN STOLEN.
Been bringing my vehicles to Garys for a few years now. Dan, Von and company are honest, no bs and provide quality work. They have accommodated me last minute on several occasions and always complete things in a timely manner. Will always be be back.
I walked in off the street, no appointment, around noon. Described what I knew to be the problem and showed Dan some pictures on my phone of what I needed but couldnt find. He called a parts supplier while I sat there and arranged a delivery for that same afternoon. Dropped my truck off at 3:30ish and they were done by 5:00. Truly incredible turnaround! I also appreciate that at no point did anyone question my knowledge of the issue I was having or try to sell me something I didnt ask for. It was a painless, no-BS transaction. Will definitely be back again.
The staffs are friendly, high skill mechanics and providing high quality and quick services. They explained to me why need change the parts and costs accurately. I was really satisfied with them.
Dan and his team at Garys Auto are outstanding. The best repair shop in Denver. They are reasonable and take the time to help you understand exactly what is going on with your vehicle. No up-sales, just straight to the point. I will never take my car anywhere else. The service just doesnt compare to the experience you get at Garys.
Amazing service! As a visitor to Denver for a couple of days, concern rose when I found an odd noise coming from my car after a trip to the mountains. Brought my car in right away. They thoroughly looked it over and found a very minor fix and at no charge to me! They took their time to explain everything and truely listen to my concerns. Best service Ive had with a mechanic hands down!
Stopped as we were passing through Denver-- was blown away by how much Dan cared. Genuine, honest, helpful. Very quick turnaround. Awesome place-- highly recommend going here for anything you need.
This was my first time going to Garys and first time taking my truck in to get work done (needed to replace rotors, calipers, and brake pads in this case). I would definitely return to this shop to get future work done on my truck.Pros:Fair pricing, honest, upfront, clean, happy to share knowledge about issue with you, friendly staff, decent turnaround timeCons:Never got a call when my vehicle was ready, had to call the shop.
I work in a school district transportation department on the western slope of Colorado. Our district had a van break down in Denver with a load of kids that needed to get home. I happened to find Garys in an internet search and gave them a call...they understood the situation, got the van right in, did the repair and got the kids on their way home in record time. This is not something that typically happens at the big dealerships. I commend the guys at Garys for their help, expertise, and customer service. Very satisfied customer.
*update- after this review they did call to apologize, which I appreciated. I still would not go back though.*I really wanted to like this place because it was conveniently located by my office.I cant trust them to perform even the simplest of tasks, and they put me in an unsafe situation. After they missed a step on a routine check-up, which ultimately lead to a flat tire the following day, I decided to give them another chance since everyone messes up sometimes. The next time I went in for a routine service (oil chance and tire rotation), they failed to put all the lug nuts back on my tires. Super dangerous! After informing them, they said I could come in anytime after 9 to get it taken care of. When I came in, they did not have what they needed to fix it (even though they supposedly had gotten the part when I talked to them earlier). They sent me away and told me theyd call when the part came in. I ended up having to call them. Ultimately my safety was put at risk, and it took half a dozen phone calls and three separate trips for what should have been the simplest of services. To top it off, they didnt even take responsibility or apologize.
Ezequiel was super great explaining the issues and only addressed what needed to be done rather then selling me on unnecessary repairs. Honest mechanicd - hard to find these days, but glad I did!
It was apparent 10 minutes after walking into Garys Auto Service that they provide a different level of customer service than other auto shops. They fixed the issues on my Kia Forte quickly and for a fair price. In the future, I definitely intend to bring my vehicles in here whenever I need something done.
I have had a number of services done at Garys and it is the only place that I trust with my car now. They never try to get me to do extra work on the car and I feel that the price is always fair. Dan also takes the time to answer all of my questions which I appreciate. I ask a lot of questions!
Garys Auto is the best shop in Denver. Dan is always a pleasure to work with, and they have never nickel and dimed me for work like so many auto body shops are prone to doing. Ive had both an old 1999 Honda serviced there, as well as my 2010 Subaru, and they have done great work for both every time without overcharging. When I went out to my car before work today, there was a screw lodged in the tire - I called Dan and was in and out in 15 minutes during the morning rush hour. If you need auto work done, go to Garys Auto. Period.
Great work. Got it done quickly.
I had a rattling noise under my car after hitting a pothole, so I brought it in to Garys. They immediately took a look and gave me an honest diagnosis. I live out of town, and rather than try to push the big repair on me now when it could wait, they offered a temporary (and less expensive) solution so that I could think about the bigger repairs back home. Honest, friendly, and knowledgeable are three words I would use to describe them, based on my experience. I would definitely return the next time Im in town.
I cant say enough great things about Garys Auto Shop! I received an estimate at another body shop to get my rear bumper replaced and told me they wouldnt be able to get my car in for a month and a half. After that, I searched on Google and found Garys Auto Shop and the great reviews, so I took my car in for an estimate, and Dan at Garys Auto Shop estimated it would be $150 cheaper than my first estimate, and they said they could have it done by the end of the week! They did a phenomenal job and had my car back to me very quickly. If I went with the other company, I would still be waiting a month to even take my car in - who knows how long they would keep it! If youre looking to have work done on your car this is the place to go!
I met Dan and Garys Auto Shop through a law firm I was working for. The firm had entrusted Dan and Garys with their Nissan Armada. They did quality work and upkeep on the firms vehicle. Seeing their expertise and great customer service, I have since taken three of my personal vehicles to Dan and his team. They have done excellent work on all of my vehicles. They even installed a rebuilt engine in my 2004 Ford Focus for a great price and it runs like a dream. Thank you, Dan and crew.
My daughter has a well worn 2002 Ford Focus. Dan at Garys has helped us tremendously to keep it going. He is very smart about diagnosing problems because of his extensive experience. He is a good listener and comes up with helpful suggestions and estimates. Service is top rate and it is refreshing to work with a auto repair shop that is honest and trustworthy. Call ahead for a service appointment. Dan is very good about prioritizing work flow in the garage.PS: Dan loves SAABs. He owns several. Based on my history with him, I am going to take mine in for service.
Fast and fair. Very helpful and knowledgeable! I was new to town and needed a new mechanic, I highly recommend coming here.
They helped me wisely purchase my vehicle from a used private party. The are always always kind and honest and give options to help financially.I have never felt cheated, or tricked at Garys! They are my top garage recommendation if you live in Denver.
If Cheers were an auto shop then the sitcom would be called Garys. Often times I feel like a dollar sign walking into most repair shops but here I know I am getting the best solution to my problem with the least amount spent. The service is friendly and fast and most important, honest! I go out of my way to bring my vehicle here for service and always get amazing service and attention!
I brought my vehicle in to diagnose the ABS, Stability Control, and Traction Control Lights. I was told that the wheel speed sensor in the right rear wheel hub assembly was bad and received an estimate for the work, ~$420. When I questioned the price I was hung up on. I called back and explained that I just wanted to understand the cost. The part for the job was quoted at $250, not a bad price compared to the dealer price, ~$368, but high compared to aftermarket price, ~$65. I was told that they wouldnt use a cheap part, fair enough. As I walked out of the shop, overall I was quite satisfied with the service I received (except for the hang up), but the cost was just too high for my budget. So I decided to do the repair myself.I picked up the part on the way home for $50+tax. I got home and put the vehicle on jack stands, removed the wheel (5 lug nuts), removed the brake caliper (2 bolts), removed the wheel hub assembly (3 bolts), disconnected the sensor connector, and put the new hub assembly back in, and buttoned it back up in reverse order. Twenty-five minutes later I was done with the job.Heres my first issue, I was quoted ~$170 for labor. It took me 25 minutes without a lift and never doing this job before. Doing the math, they are charging upwards of ~$340/hr!!!!On to my second issue. After finishing the job, I took the vehicle for a test drive and found that all of the lights were still on!!! At first, I thought maybe I replaced the wrong rear wheel hub assembly. So I ripped both sides apart and swapped the parts out. This time it probably only took about 15 minutes per side (shallow learning curve). However, this still didnt fix the issue. After all is said and done, the problem ended up being a disconnected wheel speed sensor on one of the front wheels. Reconnected the sensor, lights goes off and ABS works again!!! The worst part of this all is that the part that Garys told me was bad is still on the vehicle!!!Shame on Garys!
I work across the street and was having problems starting my car. The mechanics at Garys were over the same day and had my car fixed that same day for a fair price. I would highly recommend Garys to anyone needing a mechanic in the area.
As an international student, I had no clue how things were done here. But Dan and his crew were more than just patient with me, they were extremely helpful and kind; with double emphasis on the kind. Customer Service 10/10. Honest, trustworthy, efficient, and I will never hesitate to bring my car in for repair the moment next time something goes wrong with it!
I’ve been dealing with Gary’s auto for about a month or so, specifically Dan he is a great person and goes above and beyond for his customers he does his best to make sure you leave satisfied and that your car is fixed . He’s a very understanding man and will work with you if necessary I’ve been to two other shops prior to his and let me tell you I’ve gotten the best service from this shop without being charged an arm and a leg, being tooken advantage of because I’m a Woman who doesn’t know much about vehicles, and the job being done right with great customer service, overall I’d advice you to go here!!
Garys Auto Service is the Best! They are honest and they care about their customers. This is my 3rd time visiting Dan at Garys and I will never go anywhere else. I own a Mini Cooper and I will now refer them to all my Mini Cooper friends. Hight Recommended!
I took my car to 5 different repair shops and no one knew whats wrong with the cluster, they all quoted me a huge price just to search more in depth for whats going on with the cluster. When I tried Garys as a last resort, not only they figured out whats wrong with it, but they also got it fixed in 2 hours only.
Dan is the man! Garys Auto Service is the only place I will go to have my car serviced. The techs have replaced my Subaru Bajas engine, and the car runs beautifully. They do it all; oil changes, timing belts, engines, etc. The prices are more than fair and honest. Thanks Dan!
I have taken my 91 4runner to Garys several times now over the last few years, and they have my baby running like a champ! The service is excellent, the mechanics are knowledgeable and honest, and the prices are very reasonable. I wont go anywhere else.
Garys has always done an excellent job on my 08 Prius! I will always go here while in Denver for anything I need with my vehicles. I know they will give me the best prices and quality. Support a local business and be blown away by the customer care and service.
In a panic, I brought my 08 Prius in with a coolant pump failure based on how kind Dan was on the phone and their ability to squeeze me in that day. It was diagnosed and fixed in less time than expected, and for a wonderfuly reasonable price. Much later I found out that this part was actually recalled by Toyota and they should have fixed it. Dan helped me out by taking the time to write a detailed statement about the work done so I could get a refund for the repair through Toyota. He didnt have to do that, and I very much appreciate how helpful he was.
These guys are amazing! Finally a shop that treats you like human. I have lived in Denver four 4 years and have tried many different shops, but this one is by far the best service and price.I own a 2003 Volkswagen Passat W8. This is somewhat of rare import, but the mechanics here are smart enough to fix whatever needs to be fixed. I had the dealership quote me over $400 labor to fix a belt because they would have to take apart the entire bumper to get to it. Garys was able to fix the belt without taking my entire car apart. These guys rock!!
Having been a Garys Auto customer since 1998, I am well qualified to state the enormous difference in ALL aspects of this business since Dan bought the business. The ENTIRE feel of this business and service is SO improved it is difficult to not be too prolific. Without being verbose, I will just state that I now can go to Garys (DANs) Auto Service and be very glad I did so. This was not the case before Dan. It is true Dan is still learning the business, but what he provides today makes me recommend Garys Auto Service.
Theyre an honest business that understands & values their customers. I took them my car, they found what the problem was BUT instead of fixing it they recommended I go to another shop that specializes in this type of repair and has a better price. Its not often you find a shop that actually cares this much about their customers, new or old.
Ive used Garys for many, many repairs and maintenance and I couldnt imagine going anywhere else. They are certainly not the cheapest when it comes to things like oil changes, but you are guaranteed quality and honest service. Dan, the owner, has never steered me wrong. Hes very matter of fact and up front about issues with your vehicle. If he recommends an immediate fix, do it. Other repairs, where he could stand to profit quite a bit I might add, hes always made very honest recommendations. You can shop around town for major repairs and maintenance, but you wont find better reviews and better service than Garys. Sure, you might pay $50-100 less (lets be honest, most car repairs have a floor and ceiling, youll be saving negligible amounts at the end of the day) but how much are you really saving when that part fails due to inexperienced labor or the whole system fails because that cheap body shop didnt mention they need to replace the entire thing with that one part? Do yourself a favor, go to Garys.
Garys is the only shop my household has used for years. Theyre very professional and I trust them. Even though weve moved father away in the last few years, its worth the extra travel time to stay a customer.
The level of talent, humility, and friendliness of all the workers here deserve an A++! Thank you so much Garys Auto Service!
I will not go anywhere else. Dan is honest and dependable and they do very high quality work. Its really an outstanding business and I recommend it to anyone.
No place better in Denver to have a vehicle worked on. Honest, dependable, efficient, and reasonably priced. A+ Ive been taking my vehicles to Garys Auto for 20+ years.
This was my situation. I was driving down the road when my car began to make weird noises. Confused, I pulled over just as my oil light turned on. I looked beneath the car to find oil spilling out onto the road at a rapid pace. It was a Friday at 5:00 pm, so I figured I would have to cancel my weekend plans since most auto-shops are closed by this time, and fewer even accept day-of appointments. I quickly pulled into a nearby Grease Monkey who told me that Garys Auto Service was open until 5:30. By the time I raced over there, it was 5:15 pm and the mechanics looked like they were ready to close-up shop. I ran up to them and told them about the issue. The owner, Dan, received me and his staff verified that my oil pressure sensor had broken causing the oil spill. Dan personally called a nearby shop for the part and ran to get it himself whilst his mechanics thoroughly inspected the area to look for any other issues. When Dan returned, the part was installed quickly and my oil levels topped off. With a turn of my ignition switch, my car and weekend were saved. I am normally very cynical when it comes to auto shops due to negative experiences in the past, but to say I was surprised with the quality of service at Garys is an understatement. By 5:45 pm, I was back on the road with my car working perfectly, averting hours of waiting for AAA, a wasted weekend, and potentially hundreds of dollars in repair. The entire ordeal cost me only about $50, a more than fair price for the quality of service I received. Garys Auto Service is a rare gem and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for car maintenance. Thank you again Dan and everyone at Garys!
Dan and the staff at Garys are terrific. Theyre friendly, knowledgable and they dont overcharge or push you to do unnecessary or costly repairs that arent warranted. Ive been taking my car there for years and will continue to do so and recommend the place to all my friends. Bonuses: one of the cutest shop dogs ever and a coffee shop across the street if you have to wait.
Im new to town and I had some minor car issues that I tried to fix and failed, so I needed a mechanic.I found this shop with Google review and since it was in my neighborhood and had great comments I decided to try Garys. The owner is very friendly and seemed trustworthy. He had his mechanics fix my problem within about 30 minutes and only charged me $10. I have been recommending this shop to friends and if I ever have any more car problems this is where I will go. Im so glad I found a good shop on the first try.
I came into Garys to have my brakes checked out because my car would vibrate any time I would brake at high speeds. Dan explained to me that it sounded like my rotors were warped and said if the pads also needed to be replaced, it would cost around $350 for everything. But first he wanted to just check it out and make sure it was necessary to do that. They checked my car for free and Dan told me the brake pads were fine. He also told me if I wanted, I could wait up to a year before needing to replace the pads and rotors. I chose to save the money for now and wait, since he assured me it was not a safety issue. I really appreciated how honest he was with me, even if it meant turning away a profit. Dan was very friendly and accomodating and I greatly appreciated his honesty. I highly recommend them!
The team at Garys is one of the best in Denver, Ive been getting a multitude of cars serviced at Garys for over 4 years now and theyve always been honest with me about what my cars need and what my best options were. Its the best place in town to get a car serviced!
Dan quoted me a price on replacing the clutch in my CRV. He called me a couple hours after I had Agreed to the price to tell me it would be less than half what he had said. This was with full knowledge that the car was next to impossible to move. Such honesty is hard to find in a good friend let alone a mechanic. I wont take my car anywhere else.
I have been going to Garys Auto for the past few months for my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They have been upfront, honest, and do quality work. I definitely recommend them to my friends.
