Have used or tried to used three times. First couple of times never showed but called later to reschedule for a different day. When they got there they didn’t take anything with scratches or marks, so be aware. This time they never showed and when we called they said “oh, the truck was full”. We scheduled for the next day and they never showed and never called AGAIN. Done with them.
So easy to coordinate a pickup. The 2 men that came were very careful to not damage the walls as they took away many boxes, a couch, and a cocktail table. They understandably wont take stained furniture. Quick and easy. I highly recommend them.
If your donation aint perfect, dont waste your time with them. When I made the appointment for a pickup of a dining room set, no one told me that everything had to be in pristine condition. They found a stain on one of the chairs and two chips on the side (not the top) of the table. They refused to take the items.I dont mind them having a policy but TELL ME WHEN I PHONE for a pickup.Never again!
If I could give no stars, I would. I have been waiting for someone to pick up a dining room table in very good condition for the past 8hrs. Hell, if I didnt live out of state I would have taken it for myself thats how beautiful the table is. Yet, based on the previous reviews, I now realized that they dont pick up tables without chairs. However, that information should have been discussed when scheduling a pick up. I had things to accomplish before leaving out of town. I should have know when the young lady said just leave it outside that they were never going to show up. Truly, they like to waste people time. Also, they dont tell you theyre hours of operation. You found that out when they tell you a bogus pick up time after their normal hours of operations.
First off Ive never met such rude and lazy men in my life!!!!!!I called Slomin Family Center for a donation of tons of furniture all in Perfect condition (and Im not biased because its not mine) they schedule a pick up of 12-2 and sent out 9pickup which didnt arrive until 3:30 (my time isnt valuable) then they refused to take any furniture because their truck was too full really! I gave a detailed description of all I was donating! Its sad when you have items that families could really use and companies that could careless ....
From people who have worked at the center as well as people who have sent their children there and benefited, Ive only heard great things. I cant believe people are complaining because they center will not accept their junk. Neither will Salvation Army! Talk about the good that the center does and quit griping because you feel dissed because your discards are not good enough for their thrift store.
The Slomin Family Center for Autism does amazing work for families in our community. The services they provide are an invaluable asset for autistic children and the friends and families that support them. Please consider donating to help them continue this tradition, and to continue all that they offer to the people who need it most.
Well, I dont know about their services. But, if you are trying to donate a nice sofa that is neither new nor perfect, (no rips or stains) dont waste your time calling or waiting for pickup. My solid, attractive, comfortable and undamaged sofa was rejected by the driver because of a little pet hair missed when I vacuumed it.
I scheduled a pick up for some items I could not take with me during a cross country move. One of these items was a $1200 sofa that is only 2 years old. When the movers arrived to pick it up they wouldnt take it because it had a small (golf ball sized) stain on the arm of the sofa. I explained that it was a water stain. Otherwise this sofa is in perfect condition and the sleeper portion has never even been used! (When I purchased this couch I even paid extra for a more comfortable Serta mattress)! It baffles me that there are so many needy people and charities wont pick up perfectly good items because of a tiny stain on the arm of a sofa! Very disappointed, as I had no choice but to throw this perfectly good sofa in the dumpster!
I recently donated household items to this center. I was given a timeframe between 10 am to noon with instructions on how to reach me. I must say that the office followed my instructions and I found the driver Alex to be very courteous, professional and quick to pick up the items.
THE WORST non-profit. Even lightly damaged furniture they wont take. You think a family or someone who is in-need cares if a chair or couch is lightly damaged and hardly visible. This place is THE WORST.
I recently donated lots of furniture. Alex and his partner showed up on time. They could not have been more helpful, kind, and courteous. It was a pleasure dealing with your agency from the first phone call to the last piece of furniture. Thank you
SO AWESOME!!!! Came on scheduled time..SUPER friendly and nice...and came on short notice one day!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! Awesome awesome awesome:)
With all of the good work Slommin Center does for autistic kids there are actually people on here complaining about the service they received picking up their used furniture. Get a life and get rid of your own useless junk.
If you care at all about children or anyone affected with autism please do not donate or support this facility. They include only EXTREMELY high functioning children who need the least amount of help. They exclude, discriminate and judge those who are lower functioning. They feel like they are above those who are lower functioning and are extremely hurtful and unkind to those children. Any facility for children with autism should be for all of those affected by autism.
Dont bother wasting your time.
This is the worst experience i have ever had with a non profit. Sorry for the kids that they help. What percentage of profit goes to the kids? So many other non profits will be thrilled with my donation
Waited but they couldnt come because of rain
Excellent center with a great cause!
Great organization for a great cause
Beware - These people are misleading and unreliable
Great services!
