I’m an appraiser and refer all my clients to Bill Hood and Sons. They have been very professional and run a top notch auction. I owned my own auction house and highly recommended Hood.

It is a pity that there is no rating - BELOW zero. At first, they are deliberately polite, then they ask for $ 100 for delivery. And when they receive $ 100, they simply begin to be silent and say that this is not for delivery - but simply for contact and packaging ... Absolute non-professionals - bypass this auction.

Called ahead over a week ago to register to do phone bidding on last night auction, talked to a lady several times even I called yesterday to be sure I would be getting the right person to called me and never got the call! Very frustrated because I was ready to get the piece I was interested to add to my collection ! Regarles the price and other bidders competitors !! I have done this in the past with several auction houses and they handle it more professionally ! Would not recommend this place to do phone bidding

Trustworthy professionals! I bid - and won, some fabulous glass in an absentee bid. They contacted me immediately, sent an invoice and arranged for packing and shipping. I received the pieces today, all wrapped carefully and packed thoughtfully. I will bid again in the future! Bill Hood & Sons Auctions are to be commended! Bravo!

I have been buying online from Hood Auctions for almost a year now. Everything I have purchased has been as shown and on the few occasions when I have had an issue they have 100% stood behind my return requests. Great people! Professional and knowledgeable.

Despite saying that there was no damage, everything I received from them was damaged. I paid almost $700.00 for a pair of candlelabra that I cant even have repaired. They gouged me on shipping. They did not respond to an inquiry regarding missing pieces. Never again!

This place has really gone down from what it once was. They built a great reputation over the course of many years in South Florida, but now everything seems to be slipping. They list most or all of their items to be sold online and the photos are often so low quality, blurry and/or low resolution that the viewer cant even see the details of the item. This is especially problematic since they dont seem to have the time or inclination to disclose details about condition that would be of supreme interest to the buyer. It isnt hard to take decent photos--in fact, you have to be especially incompetent not to. A recent lot of books contained several photos that were so blurry you couldnt even make out the titles, much less the condition of the volumes. Of course nothing was listed in the description. Just lazy and shoddy. They want that online money, but dont want to put forth the effort to conduct a quality sale. Go to a quality auction house and you will see excellent, sharp, hi-resolution photos that clearly show the item being sold.

A family affair. Completely honest and upfront which is rare in the auction business, even including the big international houses. There is a fair amount of ordinary stuff but they frequently have something good that goes for a very fair price. They specialize in paintings and are known to buyers all over the country and probably beyond. Definitely recommended and I have been going to auctions for fifty years.

Its a mixed bag. They have been in business forever and are trusted by locals and can see some very high quality items come through their auctions. They are unprofessional about answering the phone; you might need to call 20 times to get someone and then they act like you have a problem. I have purchased about $20K worth of antique items over the last two years and I would say my best advice is to refrain from bidding unless you can be present to inspect the items in person. They are hit or miss about disclosing damage. I bought a cabinet that was so rickety it couldnt even be moved without falling to pieces and this was not disclosed. One gets the idea they ride on past reputation without putting forth enough effort to convince their newer clients. I have the feeling they dont care all that much what a customer thinks.

Have bought from and sold with the good people at Hood & Sons. Friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, are just a few of the reasons I have continued to come back.
