This place has great potential to help if you want to make a change in your life. They need more funding, they are understaffed and I hope they can make some changes within this facility. It looks a little rough from the outside but inside its clean and they have some great staff members. To them I want to say thank you for doing a great job!! Unfortunately,I have to mention the bad apple with the title of Clinical Supervisor Greg. Shame on you Greg.
Has many ways of helping the community. Nice people.
They are great thanks for all you do
This place I not providing Homeless assistance. The only program they have forces people to go to church and to work for free on a roadside clean up crew from 7am to 11am. They arent allowed out past 9pm so they have almost 0 chance of getting a real job to better their situation unless someone is hiring for a 12pm to 8pm shift. The city is paying the Salvation Army to provide labor and they are both taking advantage of the homeless for profit/savings.
I have a low opinion of Daytona Beachs Salvation Army. They only allow people who need shelter to stay free for 3 nights and then they charge $10 per night per person. Thats not very charitable. Im sure they get a good income from Floridas Dept. of Corrections for housing some of their people who are in a program, so they get a good income (like a business would). Salvation Army in some cities have free shelters but not so in Daytona Beach. And when they housed a lot of the homeless in 2016 for 6 months, they got paid good money from the city/county to do so -- thousands every month. This wasnt charity but was a source of income for them.
As a family, we volunteer at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at Daytona S.A. every year. This organization is truly a godsend to those in need. This is the place to donate barely used clothing.
The staff is awesome. Cant say enough good thing about the people or what they do.
Since last hurricane I heard they opened the male side but never the female side in my book thats 100% wrong
Yeah right. The first night is free, and then its ten bucks a night after, up to fourteen days... After those fourteen days, ya cant come back for NINETY DAYS!!! And this is the only shelter in Daytona. Jeez...
Today I had Thanksgiving dinner at the Salvation Army...It was very special to me.I have cancer and I see it being my last...Thank you for everything you do..God bless you
Very mean to me, Im not someone to complain but there were two black ladies working and I never need help hardly, they were so rude I would rather starve than be treated like this.
Only willing 2 help with food every 3 months !!
Friendly volunteer staff, great prices, clean and organized store, and generous selection of most anything.
Its a good starting point for those in need
Saved my life. More then anyone will know
Great place always willing to help
Donated them them respect they help
My wife and I have an apartment full of junk and old furniture. Hopefully between giving away stuff and having no space for a garage sale we can prepare to clear out everything in the next couple of weeks.
Excellent place to go to if you need help
They are VERY RUDE. The man who answered the phone had an agitated tone and it was 9:55 in the morning. He wasn’t polite at all. Must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. But for the homeless person that called who doesn’t have a bed to wake up on the wrong side it was very rude.
The place has gone to Hell after Hurricane Irma so I moved on... Hope they snap bck...
