I highly recommend Dr. Hovden and his dedicated staff. Hes been our family dentist for over 30 years and has provided exceptional dental care. Whether Im getting a routine cleaning or cavity filling, my visits have been pleasant and most important of all, I never feel rushed. When undergoing a procedure he clearly communicates what he is about to do, makes you feel relaxed at all times, and has a gentle touch, which is essential in dentistry. When it comes to oral care, I couldnt of asked for a better dentist.

If one is looking for an excellent dentist - look no further. I beautiful and healthy smile is important to me - so I did my research. Dr. Hovden has achieved the highest credential level in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and is the only one who has reached this level, and has kept it, in the San Francisco area. (I just double checked.) Because of his rating, it was an easy choice who I would trust to be my dentist. Over the years, I can see why he reached that level. I asked him to replace all the silver fillings in my teeth with beautiful white onlays, and fillings. He has also fixed chipped front teeth - with the most recent one today. He came in the middle of his week off to specifically help me look good before I left for a European vacation tomorrow. Dr. Hovden has done such a good job keeping me looking great, as well as keeping my teeth healthy, that people compliment me on my smile all the time. He is one of the good guys, and is backed up with excellent dental hygienists and a super friendly staff.

Even though going to the dentist can be a difficult experience, I always feel comfortable and relaxed in this office. He must be one of the top dentists in Daly City and the entire Bay Area. Ken Hovden loves practicing dentistry and is also a perfectionist. Thats a very good combo for patients. Dentistry is literally in Kens blood as both parents were dentists as is his sister. Ken is very smart (Stanford grad) and skilled (has won gold medals in peer reviewed cosmetic dentistry competitions). He teaches advanced dental techniques and also takes many courses to stay absolutely up to date on the very latest advances in dentistry. I originally found Dr. Hovden when my then current dentist retired and I was looking for a new one. I asked a friend who ran a dental lab who was his pickiest most demanding client. The answer was: Ken Hovden. Ive been a patient for many years and am very happy with the care I have received from Dr. Hovden and his wonderful staff, Colleen and Andrea. Ken has an artists eye and hands. Even if you are just getting general not cosmetic dentistry done, Ken really works hard to get the aesthetics right. If a crown does not have the right color, translucence, fit or shape he sends it back to the lab. He doesnt settle for mediocre results if something better can be achieved. I have had friends who are dentists comment very favourably on the quality and appearance of the work Ken performed on me. Ken is truly a nice guy, listens to his patients and really cares about their dental health. I highly recommend Ken Hovden.

Having visited a number of dentists over the years, I found that Kenneth Hovden, DDS is the most sophisticated and dynamic. My previous dentist pushed me to get caps on my front teeth over my initial objection. Shortly thereafter, one of my caps fell off.Upon my first visit, Ken Hovden made me realize that I had very little volume left of my original tooth and that the cap would likely fall back off at some point in the near future. In further discussing my situation, Ken convinced me to have the rest of my caps removed from my front teeth and in doing so it revealed that all four of my front teeth did not have the requisite volume to properly support caps. I undertook the process of having implants placed in the upper front of my mouth which would support a prosthetic. In addition, a process was undertaken to adjust my lower front teeth to properly allow my upper front prosthetic to function more efficiently.I am very happy with the outcome. I now have fully functional front teeth that are aesthetically pleasing. I have not had any trouble since these procedures were completed over 4 years ago.What has impressed me most about these procedures, amongst other dental care Ken has provided for my family and myself, is that Ken never stops developing his knowledge and skill in the field of dental science. Ken is not the typical cookie cutter professional that does the same thing over and over without any hesitation. Contrarily, he constantly updates himself and is willing to change course in the middle of a given treatment as the case warrants.I have no hesitation in recommending Ken Hovden as a dentist to anyone whose objective is improve their dental health.Robert J. From my home I must travel over 21 miles to reach Dr. Hovden’s office, so there are many dentists who are for me much more conveniently located. Yet I find that the superb, personalized care I have received from Dr. Hovden over several decades makes the extra travel entirely worthwhile.Besides routine prophylactic care, I have had fillings, crowns, bridges and, most recently, implants all with excellent results. Dr. Hovden is skilled in cosmetic dentistry, has the latest in dental equipment, enthusiastically keeps up with the ever-changing technology and procedures in dentistry, is meticulous in his craft and demands the same of the laboratories with which he works. I have found him to be gentle in his touch, a good communicator, honest and kind. He has followed up with a phone call the next day after major procedures and he has come into the office during his off hours when urgent care was needed. His referrals to other dental specialists have always been excellent.Dr. Hovden’s hygienists and staff are also wonderful. They are competent, well organized, friendly and respectful of a patient’s schedule. I have always been taken on time for appointments. Lastly, parking is free at the medical building where the office is located and spaces are easy to find.
