Michael and crew are awesome. Been going to this shop ever since I moved to Dallas and haven’t changed since. Michael is my barber and he doesn’t miss. Sometimes you can go in to a place for a hair cut and one week it’s great, and another not so much. That doesn’t happen at Alton’s. Guaranteed fresh cut every time.

You can’t ask for a better barbershop experience than Alton’s. I have been going. To Michael for at least 5 years now with a few of his other guys filling in for me from time to time. His staff is the best, I wouldn’t trust my hair to anyone outside this shop.The atmosphere is exactly what you want. Great conversation not just with the person cutting your hair, but the space is set up so that often times everyone in the shop is laughing it up together. Always a good movie on, and the music is on point with everything from punk rock to hip hop. Plus you can grab a local beer on draft while you wait.Michael won’t brag about his high end salon pedigree but I will. He treats whatever request I have for my hair with precision and artistic skill. If you want your beard lines laser straight, this is your place. Do yourself a favor and buy the beard balm (which Michael makes himself btw), to take home. Your beard will look and smell like a million bucks.

If youre looking for a barbershop to call home for years to come, this is definitely your place. Ive been come to Mike since 2015 and before that since 2013 to the shop where I bounced around a few barbers before landing on him. All of the barbers they have are top quality so you wont be disappointed. Its always a chill vibe, normally a movie on, and good conversation.As I was coming on to write a review after getting my haircut this morning, I noticed a few recent negative reviews that as a long time patron I felt compelled to address, albeit wasnt expecting see from my experience here...One of them looked like it was from a guy causing commotion this morning in and around the shop. I was waiting outside for my appointment and overhead this guy hitting on one of the female barbers in a very sleazy way and then when I went in he was griping at the owner Mike about not taking him as a walk-in even though the guy made an appointment for a different day. I was around when all this was happening and definitely didnt hear any of that other stuff contained in the review. Ive come in on the wrong day before too so I get it, but its not the barbershops fault, and they send at least 3-4 notifications prior to your appointment letting you know its coming up, reconfirming the date/time, and asking you to confirm youll still make it.I can tell you that you need to make appointments well in advance of the day you want your haircut because they have a deep clientele who have been coming to this place and the respective barbers for a long time. Most of whom book their next appointment as they are laving the current one.Also, this is one of the most diverse and tolerant barbershops you will find who do quite a bit to give back to the local community, primarily for kids and the less fortunate. The thing I appreciate about Altons is that its not a barbershop thats an echo chamber of view points, its a place where you can have conversations about anything under the sun. These are the reasons Ive been a patron for most of the last decade.As someone who calls Altons barbershop home, I cant stand for people disparaging a quality family owned establishment, especially one that has made it through this lockdown to come out on the other side, still employ it quality staff, and serve its long time clients as well as the community it sits within.

Great experience. This is a genuine barbershop with true craftspeople. This is not anything like Supercuts et al, nor a fancy salon. Daunya took my beared from scraggly to stylish and made me comfortable all the while. Highly recommended.

This morning I arrive a few minutes early and waited outside in the cool, crisp morning air for my appointment to start.During that period, I had a conversation with an employee of the shop. We discussed the small business closures in the shopping center there, and the wider impact of blanket mandates on the service and hospitality industry. It was a delightful conversation.During that period of conversation, Michael Alton, the owner, opted to close the front door of the shop despite the cool, hospitable breeze. I noticed this and found it odd.Upon entering for my appointment, I discovered that I had made my appointment in error, for the next day. Michael took great delight in offering no ability to reschedule, and curtly telling me, I guess Ill see you tomorrow then.Indeed.Michael is a small man. Ideologically possessed, and so offended in overhearing a private conversation with ideas that might run counter to his, that he lashed out at a paying customer with rude spitefulness and intolerance.No Michael. You wont see me tomorrow. Keep the $25 dollar cancellation fee and buy a clue.To anyone reading this, take your business elsewhere. Michael clearly has built a thriving business so successful that he can treat anyone outside of his narrow ideological persuasion with rudeness.

Great local barber shop to Lakewood with attention to detail.

Best hair cut Ive had in a long time. I will be a repeat customer. Dauyna was fantastic, friendly, made ya feel like family. Talked to ya like she has known ya for years. I will go see her again for a haircut. The whole place has that old town barber shop feeling. Love it.

I decided to take my son in to get a haircut. I was really nervous to take him in. He does NOT LIKE getting his haircut. It’s to the point where I have to sit with him and listen to him throw a fit. This time was different! Morgan did an amazing job. She was sokind and patient with my boy! He had a great experience. We will definitely be returning! Thanks again Morgan!

I booked an appointment on the recommendation from a friend in the business. She said I would like the vibe and she is right. If The Sons of Anarchy had a barber shop it might look and feel like Altons. There is an old school approach with straight razor shaves, warm towels and super cool vintage barber chairs that are as comfortable as sitting in a vintage Ford Galaxy 500 and way more comfy that the modern version you see at the chain places. The music was cool but might benefit from adding some vintage metal into the rap dominated mix. They have local beer on tap which is a nice treat. The place is owned by some local barbering vets and it shows. She shop is in one of Dallas trendier neighborhoods that is rapidly gentrifying. So Altons is cool, you get a great haircut and shave and the prices are reasonable. Oh and they dont twist your arm to buy product which is nice as well. I plan on returning.

I love this place. Taylor was my main man for 3 and half years. If I’m ever in Dallas again I will make sure I get my hair cut while I’m there. The renovations are very nice and the place is welcoming.

I’ve been going to Michael for almost 5 years now and couldn’t recommend this place higher. The shop has a new name but maintains the same quality, barbers, and chill vibe it’s always had. Beyond the consistent cuts and professional service, this is the kind of place where you can have authentic conversations with real people and be yourself. I also love that this place is owned and run by people who live in the neighborhood and are committed to the community of Lakewood. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed.

Some Barbers just do whatever they want...then theres Taylor.Taylor is an artist... A man above his trade. In fact, if he were to have his own definition within the Websters Dictionary, it would be something like this... IN ARTIST WHO IS BEYOND HIS TIME WITHOUT LIMITS....He can take any situation and make it right while perfecting his art in order to make you look good. Taylor takes his time with all his customers in order to make them feel good. Go make an appointment with Taylor and get that custom feel you deserve. You wont be disappointed!

Im dead serious Adrian is the best barber for beards in Dallas, maybe anywhere. He is a great barber all-around, and he always leaves my hair looking excellent. But seriously, he crushes the beard trims. It is exceedingly difficult to get a great beard trim, Adrian does it right and leaves my beard looking razor sharp. My beard looks like a beard model mixed with a 300 Spartan - hes that good, hes the beard god.The shop overall is fantastic, everyone is super nice and funny. Theyve got beer on tap. Theyve usually got a movie playing on Netflix. Theyve usually got a mix of all types of music, nothing pop though, classics/metal/rap/etc. Make an appointment through the website, its easy. Ive never had to wait when I arrived.

I searched for months for a great barbershop in Dallas since moving from South Florida. Morgan and Mike are by far the best barbers I have ever had my hair cut by. My hair isn’t easy to cut and I change my style and mind all the time. I am here almost weekly and couldn’t feel more welcome (I was driving almost 45 min to an hour just to get here). Definitely recommend for you to check them out.

Alton’s is unique in that it is an old-school, traditional style barbershop with a laid-back vibe. I go to Michael and I get a quality hair cut and beard trim every time, which is why I continue to drive an hour to see him. Everyone in the shop is friendly and chill. They always have something playing on the TV and music going (classic/metal/rock), and they have free local beer on tap to enjoy during your appointment.

This is the best place. Chill people, good music, and perfect haircuts everytime.

Alton’s is by far the best barber shop in East Dallas. That traditional old school feel, with modern music and friendly people always makes me feel welcome. Morgan is the best! I won’t trust anyone else with hair, and you shouldn’t either.

Taylor Hawkins has been my barber for 3+ years now. I have changed my hairstyle a few times and each time he listens to my vision and makes it a reality. He takes good care of me and makes sure I look sexy AF. If you are looking for a great cut, some average conversation, and dont mind a man with a mustache...Taylor is your dude.

Got a haircut at Alton’s after getting a terrible haircut at another barber. Taylor cut my hair and fixed what appeared to be unfixable. Gave me a great haircut and will definitely be coming back!

Laid-back atmosphere combined with competent and professional barbers results in an enjoyable experience with outstanding results. I was a first-time customer but immediately felt like I belonged. I described to Taylor what I was seeking and let him do the rest. Extremely pleased and will be back.

I have been going to this barber shop for almost two years now. Adrian is one of the best barbers in the DFW area who knows how to cut a womens hair and is very creative in making designs. You tell him the look you are going for and he creates the design. I get so many compliments everytime he cuts my hair!! I HIGHLY recommend Adrian if you are looking for a trendy and seasoned barber.

I was really depressed and really down on myself. This whole pandemic thing has stripped me of almost everything. I decided that I needed a fresh cut and to walk into Altons in Dallas. I was Not dissatisfied! Daunya works miracles. By far the best haircut I have ever received! But more over the staff there is genuine and sweet, real human beings! Youre now just a paycheck! Adrian and daunya had me giggling and happy the entire time as if we were long friends re aquainted. Do yourself a favor and make the drive.

((I don’t recommend this place to anyone!!!))I took my son for a haircut and I am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of service here. I searched for all the nearest barbershops and decided to come here because of the ratings. I showed the barber a picture of what we wanted and the haircut wasn’t even close to what we asked him. To make the matter even worse we also asked for the edge up at the front and he completely messed up the front lining and the whole edge up came out crooked. I don’t recommend this place to anyone!!!!!

Morgan has been cutting my hair for what feels like years; I think its actually going on two years now. I refuse to go to anyone else because she always remembers what I like. Not only do I just sit down and let her at it, she kills it every time. Going to barbers and continuously being nervous because you never know what youre going to get isnt an issue Ive had in a long time because shes that consistent. Even when she tells me to change it up a bit, I just let her run with it because I am THAT confident she will leave me feeling happy as fuuuuuuuuuck. :)
