Very nice place for a haircut. The staff are friendly and I can tell that they all are great barbers.I highly recommend Dahmeer. He did a fantastic job, paid attention to all the details, was very professional and made sure I was satisfied with the cut. Overall did an amazing job. I would definitely recommend this place !

Show up for a second-time haircut at the salon after a great first experience, leave with a shaving cut on my upper lip and a botched haircut on the back of my head. During my shave with Andres, I noticed he kept dabbing my face and asked if I was bleeding in the middle of the shave. He said no, pictures prove otherwise—blood is blood. Dont gaslight me. I let it go in the moment, though. I can heal, and he was in a rush to get me out after. I thought he might have another client and we were running overtime, so I was respectful and didnt push it or ask to see the haircut from the back. Tipped him 30%. Get home and look at the back of my head. I have a scar I asked him to make sure didnt show because I hate getting asked about it. He knew from our first haircut and did a great cut then but messed up the second time. I tried to contact the salon with an email and a phone call, but nobody replied. Avoid at all costs. Atmosphere is toxic and staff and owner are unprofessional. Cory was there and had to have seen the kind of work his employee was doing.

Been going the last 5 yrs and it remains to be a very upscale barbershop, from on time scheduling, BOSS style treatment, Ambience and amenities make this the shop I’ll continue coming back to time & time again…..

Ive been to this place twice. Anthony is one of the best if not the best barbers I have ever gone to. He is professional, friendly and personable. He does a great job cutting my hair with only scissors. He is also multi-talented and can use a buzzer for contouring. He does a great mens shave as well doing his best not to nick you. The staff at Cory Matthews is friendly and will address. You by name after walking in. During the shave they gave me a nice hand moisturizing experience. This is my new go to barber.

Hi, I came here today to get my haircut scheduled with a hair cutter I have used before. When I showed up they told me I was not on the list but offered a replacement hair cutter. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he took only 10 minutes instead of the 30 minutes they advertise. I think the cut is way too short and I am very upset with my haircut today and will go somewhere else next time.

Both my boys (2 and 3yrs) get their haircut with D and he is amazing and patient! He has done their hair twice now and we will be going back again. Highly recommend!

Great customer service. You can have a drink while you wait, so why not get there a few minutes earlier?All staff members are friendly and have great energy. They are also very professional and great at what they do. I always get started with my hair getting washed, and then a nice hair cut and bear trim. Then they come with the relaxing hot towels for your face and the hands/arms massage. Shout out to Sierra who always does great work. Wouldn’t trade Cory Mathews for any other salon/barber shop.

This place embraces the pandemic opening like it was natural. Temperature checks at the door, all masks on, sanitizing left and right. The door handle is constantly sanitized, I don’t even think hospitals can keep up with it. Great job at reopening and finally getting people back to looking fresh!

Premium haircuts at an affordable price. Cory is a stand up guy who only provides the best haircuts. They clean your hair before the haircut, cut and shave you with a hot towel and then the receptionist massages your hands. Ive never left feeling unsatisfied with my haircut. I would recommend Cory to anyone, hes simply the best.

Great barber shop in downtown cranford. The staff at Cory Matthews are all friendly and welcoming to their space. The shop itself is kept extremely clean and they have excellent COVID protocols. Dahmeer is my go to barber, however, I’ve had positive experiences with many barbers on staff. They run on appointments and stay true to appointment times so No need to sit around waiting for extended periods of time. Highly recommend this shop for anyone that’s looking for a professional barber. True to their craft!

Hip music playing, good looking staff.I got there 15 min early for my appointment, waited 15 min then the receptionist sent me to get washed, then sat in the cramped little waiting area another 20 min with a wet towel on me until I got in the chair.Barber was cool, cut seemed good but wasnt till I got home that I realized he missed a few hairs around my ears. They are excellent. Make an appointment or just drop in. Price is right, they offer you a drink, hot towel and hand rub no additional charge. Sierra has cut my twice and could not be more pleased. Keep in mind it is loud ( music and TV going all the time). However very friendly and accommodating.

I enjoyed the atmosphere. But I feel for the price of $40 they could have done a better job with fixing up my beard. There were a couple of spots that were not shaved. (I didnt notice until I got home) The haircut was nice though and the people working there were very nice.

My favorite barbershop in NJ. I was struggling to find a place after I left the city. Everyone here does great work. I go to Mary and she is wonderful. Good vibes only here from the staff and the owner Cory is a great guy who also does amazing work.

Great cuts

My husband who was a first time customer had an appointment with Cory. Upon walking in the receptionist was not friendly at all. Then on top of that, his appointment was not honored. He entered the salon at 6:45 PM because he had a 7 PM appointment. Minutes after he walked in Cory had just started cutting another customer’s hair first without even acknowledging the fact that my husband had an appointment. First impressions matter but clearly this salon doesn’t care. To make matters worse, one the male barbers was completely unprofessional. A mother at the salon brought her young son to the salon and the barber who was cutting his hair whispers to his co worker in front of the child, “She looks real good.” To me this is unacceptable behavior. A woman should feel comfortable to bring her child to a salon without having to be looked at or spoken about like she’s a piece of meat. Perhaps to other male customers that read this review don’t care but this barber shop lacks professionalism and doesn’t care to welcome first time customers. It’s unfortunate that due to poor management my husband ended up leaving the salon and would never consider going back.

We moved here to New Jersey from Florida. And it wasnt the cold, traffic that we found so different from Florida. It was the service, Restaurants, Grocery stores etc. Mostly rude people who seemed truly unhappy to be working where they were. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled into Cory Mathews Barber Shop. And found true Service and people who seemed to enjoy what they do and who their working with. Had a great haircut and experience. What I can say is its a must try if Great Service & a real home town barber experience is what you long for then this is the place. Thanks to all at Cory Mathews Shop you made my day.

This place is a prime example of how a business should run. When you walk in youre greeted by your first name and offered refreshments to suit your mood! The WHOLE staff goes about their business in professional and down to earth way, automatically making you feel comfortable as a walk-in. My haircut was done by Anthony who hooked me with a top notch experience that included a FANTASTIC cut, hot towel treatment and laid back conversation. Its always scary trying a new place for your hair, at least for me. Im glad I switched and tried this place because it was great. Michelle cut my hair and did a great job while also personable. The woman at the front desk who also washed my hair (didnt get her name) was friendly and welcoming. My hair came out great and Michelle definitely took the time to cut it properly; I didnt feel rushed. They were busy, so my 4:30 appointment turned into 4:50/5pm, which is the only reason I removed 1 star. I plan on coming back and making this my new go to place for a haircut.
