One of the most important things in life is to find an honest mechanic; Carmens did a great job taking care of my Honda Civic for years and now I bring my Subaru Forester to them.

I used to do all the work myself on my civics, but when time started becoming harder to find I started looking for a shop that I can trust. Its amazing how many places try to bs you thinking you dont know anything. I eventually found Carmens and have been going to this shop exclusively for probably 10 years now. Its a family run place with great mechanics who take pride in the work they do. The turn-around is quick, prices are fair, and they are very honest. For that reason, even after moving 40 mins away, Ive continued going here.Ive had work done like a transmission flush, shocks/struts/bushings, axles, control arms, timing belt, valve adjustment, top end rebuild, transmission seals, axle bearings, etc and it has always come out perfect.Theyve basically done all the work on my last 2 civics. My cars are running far longer than i thought they would. I sold my last civic with 300k miles and it ran perfectly. My current is approaching 270k with no issues. They know what theyre doing.Thanks for being such a great shop!

These guys do it all very nice men great at what they do, and in this day in age it is hard to find ANYONE honest but I can proudly say they are honest people .. I have been going to them ever since I got my first car.. My grandfather had been going to them since they opened. I swear by there expertise Carmen! Great businessmen he knows his stuff.. His son Micheal great man! He JUST like his father know Hondas Acuras like the back of there hand... I am a long time customer and I will be so as long I live in the area! ALL of the shop is great service, wish they had a bigger lot! Other then that they both Carmen and His son will work on your car... Ive been bringing my Acuras here to Carmens for approximately 10 years now (if not longer). Never had an issue. I find them to be upfront, reasonably priced and most importantly, honest. Whether waiting for the service to be done or dropping my car off, its always ready when promised. Now that I just purchased a CR-V, Ill be bringing it to Carmens as well.

Fast service very nice guys. Had an oil change. They were very helpful and price is fair. Definitely will go back.check them out if u need your Acura serviced

Great service at a fair price. Mike is very knowledgeable and presents your options in a non BS manner that make sense - he even talked me out of repairs that he thought were not necessary for my train station car. Got axles and brakes changed and couldnt be happier.

Lovely independent Honda shop. Two lift garage bay, two generations family owned and operated. Personable service, knowledgeable and reasonable people. Its a small shop, so tiny waiting area with 5 chairs - make arrangements to be picked up, or go for a stroll through downtown Cranford while waiting for your car to be serviced.

Brought my 2006 Ridgeline in for what I thought for sure required newCV-Joints. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the call that they only needed an adjustment and tightening. Most mechanics would have taken me for a new set.. Very honest mechanic.

We have been burned by plenty of bad mechanics in the past, so when we found Carmens we were thrilled to find a place that we could always rely on to provide a quality service at a fair price. When Carmens provides a service, you can count on them to do it right. Unlike some car dealerships, they can also figure out what a problem is without relying 100% on a computer to tell them what it is. Carmens can do almost anything - from replacing a timing belt to plugging a tire. They are very efficient, and they will be honest with you if something doesnt need to be repaired. I would highly recommend Carmens to anyone.

Tire went flat today - pulled in the shop 7/18/2019 2:24 PM two guys sitting in the garage... I ask, do you have air hose, my tire seems to have gone flat. response: We are on Lunch - - - I ask is the entire shop on lunch, theres no one whoc an help me - or can I use your air to fill up my tire - No, you have to wait for our lunch to end - I simply left - this place has HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

This place is unprofessional and won’t be going back to them. First off they kept my car over night for no reason and never gave me a call to come pick up the car. Second i make an appointment for Friday(today) and i show up and they tell me they can’t take me today even though i made an appointment. It was a simple change of 2 fuse injectors and fuse box which takes no longer than 30 min to do and they told me i can leave my car there for the day and theyll be able to only change the fuse box if they find the time. Are you kidding me? I will not be going back to them and unless you want to waste your time and money i suggest you don’t go there either. Thank you Carmen’s auto shop for having me drive around with leaking fuel injectors you really care about your customers.

Way too expensive. Charged me $500 for labor that took about 2 hours to do. $250 an hour!?! Really ??? What is this heart surgery!?!

Had service done on multiple occasions and various parts. The rear brakes were worked upon where the rear rotors were replaced. The rotors were charged at over MSRP and the pads were installed upside down. The main complaint which was the noise was never worked upon because nothing was lubricated! The shims were not installed properly and the system not cleaned.Also had the timing belt done and it took a week. The explanation was bolt which a mechanics shop could not attend to. Best part was the car was worse after that which was due to a misalignment of the belt.Cost was the same as the dealership at $95 per hour. Not recommended at all!

If you own a Honda, there is no better place to have it serviced. Excellent, reliable work at a fair price.

Had an appointment and then when I arrived I was told there are others ahead of me even someone that came in after me and said it would be 2 hour wait.

I have been going to Carmens for years, servicing both my wifes Odyssey and my Accord. The man is knowledgeable, honest, and last of a dying breed of mechanics who know their stuff. His son Michael is following his dads footsteps. Several times while my cars were under warranty they found issues during regular check up (tranny fluid leaks, noises etc.) and pointed the issues to me so I can ask the dealer to fix under warranty. Very few honest people these days, and this car repair shop is certainly one of them. I dealt with many, many dealership and private mechanics, and often you are either dealing with incompetent or dishonest individuals. Carmens on the other hand is that rare combination of competenece and honesty. I dont want to praise them too much so their heads do not get big, but if our own a Honda or Acura and live in New Jersey - this is the place to go.
