I took my daughters car into Dons. Its a 1998 Saab 900SE. Unsupported by Saab at this point, so we felt lucky they were willing to work on it. They had to do some repairs that required them to take the transmission out. They did the work and my daughter drove her car off the lot. Over the next week she noticed the gears slipping and when she put the car into reverse, it was like it was in neutral. I believed that the transmission may have been put in incorrectly, based on the timing and those problems not existing before we took the car to them. Its not clear to me if this was just an unfortunate coincidence or not. However, I brought this problem to Shelleys attention. She was kind and helpful. Dons ordered a used (presumably) transmission on their dime and installed it. My daughter picked up her car and its been running fine. Friendly people at this shop, willing to help and make things right for the customer!

About 10 months ago needed the starter replaced on my car. It was in a pretty awkward location so I figured Id let a repair shop handle installing it.Process was straight forward. Booked the next time I could bring my car in and brought the new starter in with me for them to install. Got it done quickly and my car back back up and running.

Everything about this shop is on point. I have taken my cruze here a couple times, one of them to have some pretty extensive work done and it turned out great. Im lucky to have found this place and will be recommending them to everyone I know.

I have an old car thats seeming to break down whenever I have the most inconvenience, but Dons crew are always there to save my bacon. Every person is super polite and friendly, and I always get the repairs I need with a price thats the best in town, in my opinion. They dont try to sell you stuff you dont need, and I trust in their work to help keep me safe on the road. By far, my familys top choice for auto shops.

This shop always takes great care of both mine and my wife’s vehicles. I appreciate the communication about what’s going on when I bring my car in for repairs, and they always let me know if there are things that need fixed or things that can wait and how much it will cost before working on it. My wife wasn’t sure they would be able to work on her BMW, but after taking it in there (to find 3 of 4 engine mounting bolts sheared off) her car is good to go and she trusts them now too!

If you are in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area and need work done on your vehicle then this is the place to go. Just travelling through on the way to Colorado from Indiana and they were able to get me in and taken care of, took the extra time to do it right without charging extra even with a very difficult/unusual situation. The customer service is spectacular. If there were an option for a 6th star, I would give it.

These guys really saved my bacon. I had a spark plug blow out of my engine while traveling on the highway and they fixed it asap. The mechanic had it fixed super quick and I was on the road again in a couple hours. They were courteous, professional, and price was very fair. Thank you

My series of unfortunate events started at 9:45pm when I hit a pot hole and blew my tire. I then contacted my insurance provider for a tow and was given an estimated time of arrival. The first ETA was 11:30 pm, the second 12:10am and the third was 1:30am. I was told there was priority accidents and had the option of leaving my car for an unattended tow. I felt like I had no choice but to wait since I had no way of leaving my car and walking home. After 6 hours of waiting the tow finally came but with the wrong truck, my car cannot be pulled on a 2 wheel lift. The tow truck driver was rude, lifted my car and damaged my front bumper stating that it was already like that, began telling me about how awful his night was since he had to be woken from his sleep to get me out of a bind and proceeded to down play my 6 hour wait time. He stated he called his dispatcher for a flat bed with no response and didnt give me a single apology for the wait or unknown extended wait time for the correct tow truck.I called my insurance provider back for a different towing company and they came within an hour. They had all the professionalism you would hope to find in any business and apologized for my wait on Dons Towing. I highly recommend that if you are in a bind that you do not call this company because you just might get treated with the same disrespect that I was given.Thank you for reading.

Over priced!!!! charged me over $900 for a repair that the Cadillac dealership was only going to charge me $750 and I have wires cut on my car that were not cut before Now my car misfires when it didnt misfire before I brought it in Im really really disappointed

Best place to take my car. Only place i trust to fix my car. They will work with you on anything you need. If anyone needs anything fixed on your vehicle i highly recommend Dons. They will get you in and out and unlike every where else in council bluffs when they fix something they fix it right the first time.

My car started shifting hard, so I took it to Certified Transmission and after being told that it needed a new transmission and would cost me $3,000. I took it into Dons Automotive for a second opinion. The mechanics found a wire that had been rubbing and needed replaced they also change the transmission fluid the car is running like a top all for under $300 instead of $3000. The employees were friendly, helpful, speedy and efficient. They should definitely have a five star rating, it seems the only complaints are with the towing not the repairs. Thank you Dons, I will definitely recommend you to everyone and be back when ever I need any automotive repairs.

This past week I had a bit of jeep trouble. I just bought groceries when my jeep decided not to start in the store parking lot. I looked up shops quick and randomly choose Dons Automotive in Council Bluffs. Within minutes they arrived and diagnosed my problem. While my jeep was being towed to their shop someone from Dons drove my groceries and I to my apartment. I knew Dons was pretty busy but they still managed to fix my jeep within hours and they even delivered it to me afterward. I highly recommend Dons Automotive. They treated me very good and their prices were great. Im not too familiar with Omaha but I now know who Ill be going to for future automotive needs.

Was driving through western Iowa, stopped to eat and the car wouldnt start. Had no idea where to have it towed. Read the positive reviews here and took a chance. Glad I did! It took a day to diagnose, but when they figured it out, they apologized and didnt charge me for the extra time. Turned out it was something minor and left with the replacement part in my working car for about $100. Honest folks and very nice to boot.

The folks here will take good care of ya.I was travelling from Wisconsin to Colorado just after winter storm Kayla and my Jeep started acting up around Avoca. I took it to a shop there and unfortunately, they didnt have the part I needed, but they referred me to Dons Automotive in Council Bluffs.I got there at 4:30 pm (the shop closes at 5:30) and without hesitation, they got me in. Then, they had the part I needed rush-delivered to help me get on the road fast. Chase is a Jeep guru, and in addition to fixing what I knew needed fixed, he examined every part of my Jeep and gave me a list of things that need to be fixed, in order by urgency. He also proposed solutions that didnt involve replacing parts.. Why? Because he knows what hes doing. Fixing Jeeps takes love and patience, and he turns it into an art.Anyway, nothing additional was needed immediately, but he let me know what to expect in the near future.Even though their shop closes at 5:30, they continued to work on my Jeep until it was finished, which was long after 5:30. Then, Chase and I talked about Jeeps for a little while. When I got the bill, I was *shocked* by how little they charged me. Under $100 for a specially ordered part, service, and thorough inspection. They even stayed late just to take care of my Jeep and to send me on my way. When I asked them why they did what they did, they said theyd do it for anyone. They care about the safety of people as they drive AND their cars.They are great folks. I wish I lived closer to shop like this one.Where Im from, an hour of labor is $120 alone.

Broke down on a road trip passing through Omaha and this place made time (near closing) to diagnose and replace my broken cam sensor within 30 minutes so I wouldnt have to get a hotel. Friendly, understanding and professional. I only wish I lived in Omaha and could give them repeat business.

My daughters car broke down and could not be driven. She is in college in Council Bluffs. I am 100 miles away.So I started calling repair shops. Thankfully the first one could not get it in. Dons got it in fixed it the next day. Didnt over charge just did a good job. I now have their number in my phone and will keep it.

Honest Repair facility. Had a Jeep Wrangler with every light check engine light on. They figured out that it was just a ground wire issue. Saved so much money. Other places wouldnt have been honest with me. Thank you Shelly and to Dons Automotive for all the help.

Took my van in, problems with the battery. They found something draining the battery. Took apart underneath the steering column to fix the problem. After I got it back the dashboard lights kept going out and you could see the space where they took the steering column apart was not put back back in place properly. Took the van back and they claim they didnt do that and I would have to make another appointment to have it looked at. Bunch of crooks if you ask me. Ill never take my any my business to them again.

They are so honest and do not take advantage of someone w/ a limited budget. I recommend this business to anyone in need of car problems.

Always straightforward and honest about everything they find. Never once have had an issue, and several times they have fit me in when they didnt have to, with no additional cost.

My car was only running on 1 cylinder and i live and hour away, i got my car there explained my situation to them and they would have had the problem fixed in a mater of hours but to no fault of there own they had trouble getting the part i needed. thats not a line i was there the whole time i dont have any friends or family in ia. so that was my only ride. they were fast, fair priced, and knolageable would recomend them to any one who needs car service!!! they went above and beyond the call of duty! and they were friendly.
