These guys know trees. Our trees are gorgeous now after their trimming. Trees were very tall, overgrown, and in a difficult place to climb and work in between two houses to get the branches out. They are great on the business side of the equation too: fast, courteous and professional.

Super happy about the whole experience with Rent A Monkey Tree Service. We needed tree removal and a hillside area cleared in a timely manner. The crew worked hard to get huge trees down with very little to no damage to surrounding trees. It was absolutely incredible. They were always polite and kept us informed of progress. There were a couple unforeseen things that couldn’t be taken out completely, it was completely understandable, but what impressed me the most was they took the time to walk through the area and explain why rather than leaving it. We had a large limb fall from a 60+ yr old tree and several additional limbs were left dangling after a recent storm. Gregg was informative while assessing the work - letting me know what work he recommended without pushing work that wasnt necessary right away. I have dealt with many tree companies over the years. Rent A Monkey provided the most competent, reliable, timely and professional service I have ever received . We were dealing with an enormous, unstable tree, with huge limbs overhanging our, and the neighbors property and power lines. Over the course of several hours they safely, incredibly, brought the tree down and completely cleaned up the stump and debris. They are not the cheapest alternative out there, but I have no doubt they are the best.

I requested an estimate for removing a 60ft tall pine tree at my home in Cottonwood Heights. Greg came out to look at the project. He gave a clear explanation of how they would remove the tree, including the option of only removing several branches, and the cost involved (which was very reasonable). We had a total of 6 trees/shrubs removed and the stumps ground out. Their bid was great, they were prompt for the bid and the removals. Wow! We needed a large honey locust tree removed from a backyard seated bench planter box. Adding to the job difficulty, the crew had to navigate a narrow uphill flagstone path. We were so impressed with safety measures, attention to not damaging the bench or the pathway, thorough job clean up, and their great teamwork. Last week I hired Rent a Monkey to do tree trimming on a commercial building in South Salt Lake. From my first call to their office to set up an appointment for a bid, to the finishes job, the company was amazing. Greg who does the bids and I think is an owner met and gave me advice on what was needed to make for a safe area and keep the trees growing and in good condition, then gave a very competitive bid. Within 5 days the Rent a Monkey crew arrived with top of the line trucks, chippers trailers and a professional crew that were very organized and went to it. Greg responded right away and and was very professional with my mom. This is what she had to say. Today, June 18, 2021, Greg from Rent a Monkey Tree Service came to my home. There are some very tall trees in my back yard that had me worried, and I wanted them taken down. I felt they presented a hazard. Greg was very polite and professional. He explained to me that the trees did not present any danger to our home and that, unless I wanted them taken down, it wasnt necessary to take down the trees. He was very honest and did not charge me for the visit. I recommend Rent a Monkey Tree Service to anyone that needs their service. Thank you for being an honest contractor and not taking advantage of my 80 year old mother. Rent a Monkey was great to work with. They were right on time, and the price was very competitive. They quickly took down a huge tree, ground the stump immediately and cleaned everything up and hauled away the tree. We were really pleased with the company and recommend it without reservation!

Gregg, Andrew and the team have been very timely responding to all my inquires, making appointments and keeping them, even when I didnt respond quickly waiting on other estimates. They were very flexible, willing to work with my schedule. I wasnt able to be home at the time of my appointment. Gregg told me that, Id be happy to come back if you need anything else done. I surveyed the work done and found the very large and smaller limbs damaged from the September 8, 2020 catastrophic wind storm in Northern Utah and those overhanging the roof branches neatly trimmed. The driveway and roof were clean and my giant potted aloe, back driveway furniture as well as the dead sculpture artifacts gently moved aside, which had been under where they were working. They did such an amazing job trimming our two trees that we have along our front yard parking strip. They were overgrown and cars couldn’t park In front of them but they did a great job and made them look natural and was very reasonably priced. Thunderstorm with strong winds blew down three trees on Saturday night. I called Rent-A-Monkey Sunday morning for an estimate and Gregg gave an on-site estimate the same day. Awesome service. We had a very large elm tree taken down that was damaged / dying and precariously hanging over two houses. I was at home during the entire removal, Gregg and his crew were extremely professional and hardworking. The tree was on the property line in our backyard, they brought a crane out to careful remove the tree with no damages to either house.Rent A Monkey was less expensive than other quotes we received but much higher quality service. We had a few smaller trees in our yard we went with another company with and declined to have them do this large tree because they were overpriced and unprofessional. That was a great decision, Rent A Monkey was miles better.

We woke up this morning at 8am to find the owner of this horrible company in our backyard. He had jumped the gate which was paddle locked so he could cut down everything in the back yard. No notice and not even a knock on the door. He had 3 punks with him to do the job. They smart mouthed me when I tried to take a pic of them and their trucks. Totally unprofessional business

Greg and Co. finished a job next door at my parents’ house and was willing to quote a bid and do a trim job on my smoke tree while he was there. His quote was fair. He offered several options and costs which was much appreciated and he completed the trim the same day. I would highly recommend this great company!! They’re the best!!!!!!!

We have a moderate tree that needed “ 4 branches “…..only 4 ……..to be cut back. He came out and when asked what the price would be, he said $250. That’s outrageous. Just outrageous. I’d never spend that. The minute you say Draper the price goes up…..It’s highway robbery . So, if you’re looking for a reasonable company don’t pick them.

I reached out to Rent-A-Monkey after reading the asinine 1 star review on Yelp of Carla H being offended by a name. Gregg came to my house and looked over what I was wanting done. He came with his crew a few days later and got the job done. I was impressed with the professionalism and equipment. Pricing I feel was very reasonable. They removed two large maple trees, a hornbeam and trimmed up my spruce trees. The yard was cleaned up afterward and looked as if they were never there. I highly recommend RENT-A-MONKEY. I had several relatively large trees in the little alley between my house and our fence, so we needed them gone to access the area. Kyle came out and looked at most of the trees on my property and was able to answer all my questions. I ended up scheduling the actual removal the following week. The team got here right at 8am and were very communicative through the whole process, and I was appreciative for the extra info on how long to keep my pets away from the poisoned stumps. They even poisoned a few extra ailanthus stumps that were still trying to grow back. Everything about the process was easy and fast. Ill be going back to them when Im ready to have some more nuisance trees by my garage removed.

I had a few trees in my yard that were touching the power line, so I decided to hire professionals rather than do it myself. I didnt want to drop a large branch on top of the power line. Rent-A-Monkey did almost everything wrong when I hired them: tore up the lawn with their skid-steer, left behind a ton of small branches in the lawn (two full garbage cans full), piled up the large branches on top of my blueberry bushes, and dropped a large branch on top of the power line. The branch dropped on the power line was large enough to shake the whole house. Luckily, no damage was done to the power line. The stump grinder also forgot about me for a few weeks, I had to call and remind them to do it. I should have just done the work myself.

They came in confirmed what trees I wanted removed. They were professional, respectful. My trees were in tight areas behind multiple sheds and against my vinyl fence, not one mark on my fence with the trees removed. They came and asked to talk to me about a light on one of my sheds and stated that when they were felling and branch or tree they hit the light and broke it. I stated to them, no you didn`t that light has been broken for years. He stated I see you have a quit a bit of over growth on your shed that is affecting your roof shingles and asked if he could just do that because they thought they damaged the shed light. I said sure, but you didnt break the light. He stated just let me to it for you...Which help me tremendously because I didn`t have the money to pay for that to be taken care of. They are honest, great quality of work. They left making sure I was taken care of... Awesome service, will have them back for future work. A company you would be proud to send a reference for. Professional crew with outstanding communication and follow up! They made a couple visits to our place and gave excellent consultation on our mature tree that was very damaged in the windstorm. I wanted my two small cherry trees to be topped but Andrew explained how bad that is for a tree and advised me to do a general trimming on it. The guys who came and did the work were awesome! We had a Box Elder pruned and trimmed. And an Ailanthus taken down to a stump and poisoned. Both trees were in complicated locations and were handled securely and safely. Greg gave us a bid, showed up on time and saw the work done properly. It was expensive but well worth the cost. We will hire them again.

During the recent destructive windstorm in Salt Lake City, an enormous ash tree in our backyard uprooted and fell on our roof. I turned to Home Advisor and Gregg Nelson at Rent-a-Monkey responded quickly and viewed the catastrophe the next day. Because of the position of the tree on the house he felt removal by crane would be safest and within a few days he met with me and an agent of a company with heavy equipment, who put me on that company’s schedule. Within two weeks the tree was removed and hauled away. Though his company was not responsible for the removal, Gregg has been extremely helpful in seeing the project through, and made every effort to keep the removal and restoration of the yard as economical as he could. He kept in contact with the crane arrangements for final removal from the curb. After that he made arrangements with a stump grinder to pulverize the stump, roots, and uplifted turf. Gregg answered my many phone calls in a timely manner. I recommend this extraordinary business highly.
