On December 15 we closed on a condo. Our realtors chose the title company. What should have been a simple transaction was made complicated and a huge hassle because the title company, whose job it is to check and recheck the details, did a terrible job. We discovered error after error on the paperwork, requiring 5 or 6 new sets of documents. Plus the title company agent didn’t seem to know how to work DocuSign, so we received requests to sign multiple versions of the same incorrect document. What a waste of time! And we had to tell them how to correct their own documents. Be sure to ask about the experience level of your escrow manager before you settle on a title-escrow company. The owner was unhelpful and unsympathetic and I won’t use this company again.
We had a completely awful experience with Fidelity National Title in Corte Madera! Throughout our real estate transaction, major and minor, sloppy, preventable mistakes were made with every document. It became our responsibility to vet the issues, rather than the careful work we expected was their role. When urgent issues were brought up with the management, they were completely unresponsive. I would NEVER use them again, and warn others to avoid using them for any deal.
