I am absolutely loving North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital! They are so focused on fear-free handling and experiences. My pup has some fears about going to the vet and they have encouraged me to bring him by for “happy visits” so he can just walk around, say hi to staff and get treats so that every time he goes there it isn’t to be poked and prodded. Thank you all so much for caring about how my pet feels!!

Weve been seeing Dr. Lydolph since we got our Airedale puppy nine months ago. Shes been professional, informative, and clearly cares about doing the best for our pets. Weve been through all of the vaccinations, a couple of illnesses, and just last week had our now 11 month old fixed. Dr Lydolph called us the day after surgery, on the weekend, to see if everything was okay.I also want to mention that the entire staff has been great. Everyone truly seems happy to be there. The facility is very well equipped. I initially didnt mark them as a Good value because I think the pricing is on the high side, but then I changed that...Im getting the best and dont mind paying for it.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience working with the staff and the incredible Dr. Blackard at NM Animal Hospital. We have a one year old french bull dog that had cherry eye in both eyes and a few other small problems when he was a puppy. First the entire staff is super nice, helpful, and very responsive. Dr. Blackard is seriously the best vet you could ask for. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and thorough. You can tell immediately how much she cares about your pet, and she is very helpful (and patient) willing to answer all your questions to make sure you feel comfortable. Our very first visit with our puppy she spent an hour with us answering all our puppy questions, and examining our baby to make sure everything was OK. She is also extremely talented. She fixed both of our puppys eyes the first time, and then was a valuable resource when we had questions after during his recovery. We love her, and we are endlessly grateful for her and all of the staff at North Mecklenburg.

Ive been taking my German Shepherd, Harbor, to North Meck since I relocated to Cornelius in 2017. I went to Hambright first and wasnt particularly impressed with them, so decided to give North Meck a try. I couldnt have made a better decision! Harbor has since torn 2 ACLs requiring TPLO surgeries and leaped off a 10ft high deck (sometimes you just have one of those kids) and each time Dr. Lydolph has put my mind at ease and given her excellent care. We now have 3 dogs and have moved 30 mins away from Cornelius, but we continue to (and will only ever) get our veterinary care from North Meck Animal Hospital. The staff is pleasant and attentive, and all the doctors weve seen are equally so, and certainly passionate about their jobs. During the pandemic we had several visits between the 3 dogs and not only did they have a smooth and efficient system given the situation at hand, we didnt have to worry about not being able to go in with our kids because we know theyre always in great hands. We can trust that every time visit well get honest care and a full break down of our babies and feel supported and knowledgeable of the situations at hand. For the record, Ive lived in 3 states and been to a variety of vets before moving here and can honestly say North Meck is exceptional in comparison to the other places Ive been.

I took my dog to the Mecklenburg animal Hospital today. I walked in and they asked if I had a mask. I replied “No, I have an exemption to the executive order on page 7”. I proceeded to hand the receptionist my doctors excuse that clearly explained my personal situation. It states that I am not required to wear a mask. The receptionist came back and said that after speaking to the business manager that they could do a curbside appointment. I didn’t disagree and went back to my vehicle. After about 10 minutes a medical assistant came out to get the information on my dog because the doctor was still busy with another patient. She herself was very sweet and kind. My dog is a rescue that had been severely beaten by her owner and started to shake as soon as she saw the assistant. I coaxed her into allowing the medical assistant to take her towards the office. She refused to go and kept pulling to walk back towards me. I couldn’t allow her to go in because I could tell she was terrified. There are orders and then there are orders that are meant to be used at discretion. I did not and do not have to explain my exemption because that is against Hippa policy in general and as a medical facility I am sure they are aware of that information. It plainly states in the order that if you have an exemption you do not have to wear a mask. So I was discriminated against, humiliated and left very frustrated. Lastly, my dog did not get what she needed from the veterinarian. It’s not about mask or no mask it’s about the executive order and following the rules. We will never step foot in this hospital again I will definitely continue to tell all of our dog parents about this situation.

I had an emergency with my 12-year-old dog Friday morning and I was quite upset. I arrived before 7 AM without an appointment and waited in the dark. We have been going here for probably 20 years with multiple pets, our favorite doctor is Dr. James. The receptionist was completely sympathetic and immediately ushered us and the technician was also in tune to my dogs needs. The doctor saw us immediately and the problem was assessed and she explained everything to us thoroughly. Dr Rolley was new to us and was extraordinary. Her love for animals was obvious. I again highly recommend this practice and will continue to drive from Mooresville!

I want all of you to know that I do appreciate the time you took to try and save our Bailey. However I can’t accept the fact that the two people that should have been with her in that room were myself and my husband. We took her to you in the hopes that she would get the care she needed and that we would be with her the entire time. None of you knew her the way that we did. She needed us and you wouldn’t let us be there. I know that things happened very quickly but when I asked actually begged to be allowed to be with my dog when she took her dying breath you should have allowed me that. What all of you took from us is unforgivable. I am sure it wasn’t intentional but as we talk to others who have been through similar situations their vet made sure that they were with their dog at that moment. Moving forward all of you should rethink your practices and make sure that if the owner of that pet wants to be with them in the end you make that happen.I hope all of you will take into consideration what I have said today and make sure that you change the way you do things I have accepted the fact that Bailey was very sick but I will never accept the fact that I was not allowed to hold her as I promised her I would. The only thing that gives me comfort in all of this is knowing that it was not my choice to not be there that choice was made for me.

I called the Animal Hospital this morning because it is a Sunday and no other vet offices were open. I spoke with a vet about my almost 3 year old cat and my 8 week old kitten. I explained their symptoms and she said that they both probably have a respiratory virus that the kitten probably brought in when I got him. (He was a stray kitten) The vet told me about a medicine that would boost their immune systems to help them fight it. I asked the price and it was between 40 and 50 dollars. Thats a lot of money but less than a vet visit. Told her I would be right up there. And when I got there the receptionist gave me a decent amount for my kitties at no charge as per the vets orders. I am so happy, even if this medicine doesnt make a difference, it is not an extra fee on me if I have to go to a vet anyway. And it will allow me to wait until Monday if I need to still take them to the vet, I wont be paying an emergency fee.The vet has a big heart. She was very sweet and had the smallest voice ever :) I dont remember her name because I was absolutely a mess this morning because I had been up with my cats since 3:30 am. I will definitely make this my emergency vet stop. They also have the ability to treat my sugar glider if the need arises :) Very sweet people at this animal hospital. Big hearts that are in it for the animals, not the money.

I took off work and got up early for this and apparently Tammy has no heart and lost my business to this vet. We will go elsewhere. Make sure you are on time!!! While I still would have to wait 15 min for the vet to prep the room and stuff but they can be late getting to my cat for his appointment. I’m not aloud to communicate and let them know I MIGHT be late. Today I would’ve been on time but Tammy swayed my opinion that there are other vets in the area.shame. Hope the owner sees this

I brought my dog in that was 15 years plus old to see Dr. lisa Bancroft. She stopped eating and threw up. Blood work was done and her kidney values were off the chart.( they were as high as the machine would read) I begged Dr. bancroft to be honest and upfront with me telling her I was ready to put her down if needed. Dr. Bancroft recommended fluid therapy saying it might keep her alive for a few days, weeks or MONTHS ! Every time I ask DR. Bancroft how bad she was, she would start telling me again about the treatment instead of giving me a straight answer. I picked my little girl up two days later to be told she had stage 4 kidney failure. (85 percent failure) I had to put her down the next day ! Its a shame that her last two days were spent in a cage crying instead of the park. This place was fine for routine shots and basic check ups but as far as a dog in a end of life stage it was all about the money. I hope Dr. Bancroft shows some honesty, dignity and integrity to her next case like this. She just walked out of the room and didnt even say she was sorry ! Neither Dr. Bancroft or her staff show any compassion ! Shame on you.I would like to respond to the owner who I did not see or speak to. The reason I was conflicted is because DR. Bancroft was being so very vague. X rays were not discuss probably because the blood work speaks for itself. What was discuss is that I would have to give my dog at home treatment involving shots and pills which I immediately said I was not going to do! What would her survival rate be without that? I went and had a second opinion from to other doctors based on all her blood work and both doctors confirmed they would have not suggested the fluid therapy treatment, she was too far gone. Instead of trying to cover your butt, you should man up and admit that it was a bad call and sometimes you can make a mistake. Thank you.

Staff was nice/friendly which is the reason for 2 stars, but gave false expectation on prices. We took our dog to be neutered and we were quoted $380 including shots. Although we did our own research and vaccinated at home to save money we still had to get shots here. At least we were told this part up front so not as upset about that. We priced checked where this is our first dog, and this seemed to be a decent price. Then we go to pick up our pup and are told it’s $200 more than we were originally quoted. Apparently we weren’t actually quoted all the medicines and medical needs that were going to take place. The doctor stated that they should have quoted everything and she was sorry, but nothing was done to correct it. This is the exact reason of us vaccinating at home because it’s alreasy expensive enough to visit the vet, but then to be lied to about prices? Next visit we will try and locate a new vet.

But first another associate came to talk and look at the kitten, who had gone from 2.5 lb to 1.4 lb. My husband and i are in the process of relocating to the charlotte area. for now we are staying in an extended stay hotel and he was at work yesterday and unable to take my calls when our 5 month old boxer ate something in the parking lot or grounds. he was vomiting, had diarrhea, and was drooling copiously. i made a panicked call to a friend who dropped everything in her busy day to come get us and take us to her vet.the building is impressive and i admit to being a bit fearful of the cost. but was reassured by the service and promptness of treatment. as a new walk-in patient, we were in an exam room within 3 minutes and seeing a dr within ten of minutes of arriving.my dog received excellent care, the bill was amazingly reasonable...less than i would have paid at my local vet back home.my dog and i were relieved and calmed and i highly recommend north mecklenburg animal hospital.

My 9 year old dog had a bleeding tumor in his abdomen and my wife and I spent a very emotional night at Cabarrus emergency vet trying to diagnose his problem and translate that diagnosis into treatment, and/or surgical options. They were of little help, they seemed more concerned about our ability to pay for the tests. After several hours, several tests and eight hundred dollars, we decided to take Scrapper to North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital in the morning for a second opinion and possible surgery.Dr. Carolyn Ives could not have been more compassionate, thorough and helpful in determining the correct diagnosis, and our surgical or end of life options. She invited us back to observe the ultrasound tests and explained the anatomy, the abnormalities, and her recommended course of treatment. Her temperament is very calming and assuring. We opted for surgery (a spleenectomy) which she performed within a couple of hours and our dog is recovering and doing well. She has personally called us several times updating us on Scrappers condition and recovery. We felt like she cared for us and our pet immediately, and is providing on-going care with our/his best interest in mind. This is something that cannot be undervalued in an emotional and traumatic moment.I must say, the treatment is not inexpensive. Good healthcare costs money. It is high average pricing based on my research. However, bad healthcare costs money too. When it comes to surgery, I firmly believe that shopping a doctor or clinic based on price is a bad idea. I would recommend North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital, and enthusiastically endorse Dr. Ives if your pet is in a stressful or emergency situation.

I have been involved in rescue for years and recently was involved in a situation where a puppy in a foster home became sick with parvo on the weekend. We decided to take the pup to North Meck. Vet thinking it HAD to be cheaper than CVS.We were so so wrong. Not only was it not cheaper, 569.00 for less than 24 hrs, but they ran test that were unnecessary for our rescue budget and offered MUCH less care than the pup wouldve gotten at CVS. CVS not only wouldve been a little less, but the puppy wouldve had 24 hr care which N. Meck. doesnt provide. They close at 8pm on weekends.Further they didnt offer the option of a treatment that has been successfully used by most emergency vet clinics for YEARS. Even though we requested it and it was available for them to do.So, I think they are a fine vet office for normal, routine care, but if your dog is sick on the weekend head to CVS.
