Brad is the Owner and GC at Sitka Projects and was absolutely wonderful to work with! I hired him for a complete remodel of our kitchen, installing built-ins in our adjoining family room, refinishing the hardwoods in our entire first floor and replacing all of our baseboards and window and door casings on the mail level. He was friendly, super responsive and extremely knowledgeable right from the start so I always felt like our project was in good hands. He was great at keeping me up-to-date on timing and next steps in the project which was a godsend as a stay-at-home mom with two babies under two years-old. Despite knowing he had other projects running at the same time, he always managed to make me feel like I was a priority and was even able to accommodate me when I added installation of new baseboards and door and window casings of our entire main level midway through the project. I had contacted him knowing 100% what I wanted in my design but he was able to make some recommendations, like taking our tiling up to the ceiling over the kitchen sink and creating some added dimension in our crown moulding, which took the final look to another level of perfection. I couldnt be happier with how everything turned out and truly have the space I dreamed about. Also, his tiling guy is incredible!! You cant go wrong hiring Brad!
We hired Sitka for a large scale renovation that included the kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, stairways and even a novel wall turned into a window. Brad, the owner, personally met with us for many hours, hearing our wishes and concerns, making suggestions, drawing and amending plans until the finalized vision was realized. Brad coordinated the many facets of work (plumbing, electrical, permits, flooring, cabinets, the list goes on and on) and utilized sub-contractors and employees who were, to a fault, highly skilled in their given areas of expertise. Both craftsmanship and care were applied to every aspect of our project. We stayed within both our time and budget constraints, and kept easy track of both these aspects of the work through Buildertrend. We could not be happier with the finished project and unequivocally recommend Sitka Projects. Thanks Brad!
I moved from my house to a condo that was built in 1979 that had a galley kitchen that was pretty much still in 1979 condition. It also had a small foot tall passthrough (like you would see in a diner). So the space felt old, cramped and dim. Additionally, the master bathroom’s sink, cabinet and countertop were just a disaster, poorly constructed with poor materials.Checked around and liked the feedback from Sitka Projects plus customer reviews and pictures, so went with them. And very happy that I did so. Brad was the PM and Benito was his point man and they were both easy and responsive to work with. Brad and his sub-contractors provide good suggestions for alternative options so that the layout and placement of fixtures, outlets etc work well. And of course, its enjoyable to check out the materials providers’ places when making your selections (cabinetry, knobs, granite, etc) and Sitka makes some solid recommendations there. It’s a big project so there are lots of comings and goings but the workers were all respectful, efficient and friendly. And when things needed to be tweaked, they returned pretty promptly and made the adjustments (such as among the ton of drawers, there were two that stuck a bit when pulled. Back they came, fixed and done). Ah, and they also cleaned up after themselves. An important point. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work performed by all.And yes I absolutely love my kitchen and master bathroom now. They are exactly what I wanted and I’ll enjoy them for the next 10-20 years that I live here.
Sitka Projects with their owner Brad really impressed me and took my ideas for a dream kitchen and turned them into a kitchen even better than I imagined. From the start, Brad was the only contractor who actually came to my house to walk through the space. I’d been turned down by bigger companies due to living in a condo and not having much staging space to work with, but not only did Brad make it work in this old 1911 building, he figured out complicated plumbing problems, fit everything into a small work space, worked with my (very challenging) HOA, and made me feel comfortable during the process.Brad is easy to work with and he gained my trust. I’m a young woman living alone with four pets (I know), and never once did I feel unsafe or worry about my cats/dogs.The kitchen is finished and absolutely gorgeous. I’m so happy with the outcome and believe Sitka to be a prime contracting company to work with.
We hired Sitka Projects in May of 2019 for a complete tear down of the kitchen, nook, and bathroom of our Portland Craftsman home. These rooms were an embarrassing eyesore, and we wanted to restore them to what we imagined they might have looked like at their zenith. We have an old coal chimneypiece that adds a lot of character to the space, and two of the contractors who came in to bid had wanted to get rid of it, to open the kitchen to the dining room and give our 1917 house a more “modern feel”. But when Brad walked on our porch and looked at the eaves, his first remark had been: “They sure don’t make ‘em like this anymore”; and when we went inside and he said about the chimneypiece (without me even mentioning it), “I hope you’re not thinking of getting rid of this!”, I knew I had my man.The thing that I appreciated most about Brad was that he stayed true to *our* vision, and he was always small-detail oriented and quality driven. He was also a blast to work with! I felt like he was excited and personally invested in making our remodel the greatest success it could possibly be . . . which he did. And he navigated through our project with a rare and commendable calm and skill.Sitka worked in our home for about four months, and we were dreading having strangers in and out. However, our carpenter was a perfect gentleman, beautiful, brilliant Benito Benito Benito (our daughter’s excited greeting for him every morning). For someone who worked like an absolute machine, you would’ve hardly have known he was there. He’s an outstanding worker, a very nice man, and he did remarkably fine work in our home, much of it singlehandedly. The crown moldings he built and placed for us are particularly breathtaking, as is the table leg he built for our nook. His tile laying was top notch. The paint guys also did an excellent job. The finish is flawless and looks baked on. The wallpaper subcontractor, too, was meticulous; I had complicated patterns and sloped walls, but everything is lined up, with invisible seams and no glue showing.Sitka made our house more livable and pleasant. Everyone who visits here is blown away by the quality of their craftsmanship. I would never hesitate to hire Brad again in the future, or recommend him most enthusiastically to others.
I did a total kitchen, fireplace remodel, and staircase, hardwood floor refinish. The results were amazing and surpassed my expectations. Sitka used only high end subs and the work done was beautiful. I went over budget and time constraints but once it was pointed out to me what the end result would be it was worth every penny. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this company to any of my friends.
Sitka Projects completed a major remodel updating nearly every room (minus the kitchen) in our home from the 1970s to the present while we lived in it. They completed the project on time (the family was very grateful as we had no showers for 6 weeks and only one commode for our family of five!) and the budget was within reasonable range of our initial estimate. Brad and his team were quick to resolve any issues that came up and were also very respectful of the family and our things as they worked. As we contemplate finishing the house with an updated kitchen Brad and Sitka Projects are at the top of the list for contractors that we will reach out to on the next project.
We chose Sitka Projects to do our re-model and construction for the installation of an elevator in our home. Their work was absolutely professional from start to finish. All work was done on time and kept us informed all of the way. This was a new experience for us and them and we couldnt be happier. We would recommend them very highly for any project, large or small.Howard and Donna Shaw
The bathroom turned out nice, if not entirely what we wanted and 6k over what we had anticipated. I learned several valuable lessons- get several bids, verify that everything you discuss is in the contract, and that you understand the contractors expectation for work area and schedule.
As a painting Sub Contractor I get to see Jobs at the beginning (bid) and at the end since I am usually the last sub on the job. Sitka does amazing work! And I say that with a painters eye for detail. Sitka is my first referral to friends, family, and clients who are in need of kitchen, bath or general home remodeling. Keep up the good work.
I have worked with Brad at Sitka on many projects. He is prompt, professional, courteous, and his pricing is more than competitive. I appreciate his attention to detail and the quality level of his craftsmanship. I look forward to working with Sitka on my future projects. You guys are 5 stars. Keep up the great work and thank you!!!
Ive used Brad and his crew several times for different projects. Always on time, professional workmanship and very reasonable. I recommend if you are having work done, you consider Sitka Projects. They treat your home like their very own.
Sitka has built and installed custom cabinets in 3 homes we have remodeled and all have turned out beautifully. The quality is top-of-the-line and the process is extremely smooth from design through to installation. Well definitely be using them in upcoming work.
Overall it went well. Bottom-line is Brad / Sitka are is trustworthy, attentive and responsive. Im happy with the quality work withone or two smaller exceptions. His crew is professional and care that youre satisfied.
Brad and his team at Sitka Projects are wonderful! We found SP through Angie’s List and were able to get a very competitive quote quickly. Brad’s team was very respectful while in our home, and meticulous at protecting our floors and countertop while fixing our backsplash drywall and installing new tile. We were so pleased with the quality and the result that we are hoping to take on a second project (updating our cabinets) shortly here. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sitka Projects for your next home improvement. We will definitely continue to use them in the future, and are relieved to have found such a quality contractor – really takes the nerves out of remodeling!
Sitka Projects & Remodeling is one of the best remodeling contractors in Portland I have had the pleasure of working with. These guys really have their stuff together with kitchen, home & bathroom remodeling in Portland and the METRO area. Three thumbs up Brad!
We were doing a kitchen renovation and we wanted to remove a load bearing wall to open the kitchen up to the dining room. It is difficult at best to find a contractor that will take the time to respond to the request for a small project. A few days after I contacted them Bradley came to our house and we discussed the project. I got an estimate the same day and we set a date for the project about a week later. On the day the guys arrived early and jumped right into the job. By the end of the day a new beam was installed in the ceiling to replace the wall and we had our space increased and our home had a new open feeling. We were very pleased with the whole process and would hire them again any time. It is great to find a company that can provide the service that they said they would and do it quickly and efficiently.
I have worked with Brad from Sitka Projects since 2011. I have seen him, and his team, complete many amazing projects. A would defiantly recommend the Sitka Team to any friend or family member. Thanks!
Work done: converted existing antiquated elevator shaft into larger shaft to accommodate new elevator, reinforcing new shaft, carving out portions of several rooms and part of garage, refinishing those rooms, finishing elevator interior to match trim of house including installing marble tile floor, rebuilding shelves/cupboard in garage, installing new trap-door ladder to attic, removing old oven cabinet and building new cabinet to house new appliance.customer experience: From the start it was obvious that Brad is sincere about understanding what customers are looking for so that he gets the job done right. I appreciated the fact that at the beginning he requests a retainer to do the design piece, which he credits later to the bill if hired to do the project. Though that might be off-putting to some people as it it not the industry norm, I actually think it makes sure both customer and contractor have some skin in the game, and therefore are more invested in collaborating. He is careful and methodical, and asks a lot of questions. As we have an older home, once his team started the demo work, then inevitably thorny problems arose, but he consulted with us and suggested some creative solutions that worked out quite well - especially a tricky turn in one hallway involved in a bedroom entryway. One member of his team - Ryan - should be particularly called out for the meticulous work he did to make sure that the new construction matched the existing decorative elements. When towards the end of the elevator project our oven suddenly conked out on us, Brads team were able to step in quickly to demo the existing oven cabinet and build a new one to fit a larger pair or ovens. Their flexibility and responsiveness to this unanticipated need emblematizes the excellent customer service they provide. We would definitely work with them again for any large or small project.
This was our first experience with a remodel/facelift of any kind. Brad’s experience and guidance kept us well informed of the step by step process. His onsite team Isaias and Benito were delightful to work with and very respectful of our home. We are so happy with the kitchen results along with my linen closet I so desperately needed. We highly recommend Sitka Projects and if needed will use them in the future.Mike and Renee
Brad presented a straight forward contract with job description and time line. Provided a listing of all those retail outlets for those items the project would need. He provided a schedule of starting date and expected completion date. This schedule was completed on time. All professionals used in this project were also on time; meeting the schedule, as planned. When glitches did occur, communication by the contractor or contract foreman occurred, alerting me or my wife as to the glitch, there comments on how it would be solved and would it meet with our schedule.Workmanship was exceptional in all phases and based on Sitkas performance this company will be doing my bathroom remodels.
Brad Bowsher took the time to establish a trust relationship through the bidding process and did not disappoint throughout the entire project. This was a complete bathroom remodel involving extensive and lengthy tile removal just to get through the preparatory stage. This of necessity extended the completion date, but everyone adapted well. The new vanity and cabinetry was top notch, and in the end, everything pulled together beautifully. Both Sitkas subcontractors and their in-house personnel were all extremely competent and pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend Sitka for any remodeling needs.
I have worked with Sitka on two remodeling projects now, and I was very pleased with the outcome of both projects. The first project was opening up a wall to the kitchen to create a formal dining room, and opening this new dining room to the outside with the addition of a sliding French door and a small transitional deck. This went well, so a year later, when we remodeled our kitchen, we worked exclusively with Sitka. As the owner of a 1927 home, each remodel came with some challenges. Two things stand out for me about Sitka as a remodeling partner; Quality & Communication. It’s always been important to me that the changes done, are consistent with the home’s character. Sitka got that right away. They saved molding and matched molding, so new trim looked just like old trim. When new trim was needed, we discussed options for milling or matching and the budgetary impact of these. When we designed the new kitchen, Sitka helped us match cabinets to windows for architectural consistency. The kitchen cabinetry and design, though clearly ‘modern’ fits the house like a glove. The work on both jobs was of very high quality. The cabinets are wonderful, the plaster on the walls that were redone looks practically identical to the original walls. The new and old flooring blends perfectly, and if you aren’t carefully looking for where the transition is, you cannot see it. Sitka ensured that everything was done perfectly. Also, with a 1927 home, there were several unanticipated challenges as we began each remodel. On the first, some structural issues were raised during permitting. And on the Kitchen remodel some truly ‘unique’ framing was uncovered which needed to be fixed. In both situations, Brad personally got involved. On the first project, Brad worked with the City employee to resolve the permitting issues. And in the second situation, he clearly explained the problem (though it was so bad it was evident to a novice like myself!) and he explained our options and the budgetary impact of these. In the end, we fixed some problems we didn’t know we had, with a very small impact to the budget.I cannot say enough about Sitka’s work. Both projects have significantly enhanced the livability of our home. Remodeling is a stressful event, and although my husband and I went through the usual homeowner ups and downs, Sitka was with us all the way. Almost every day we were able to talk to the team working on the project and see what was completed and what was up the next day. When we had questions about the project, we heard back right away from Brad or Toby. They let us know what decisions we had not made and when we would need to make them by. When I had doubts or reservations about some little, probably insignificant item, Brad patiently listened, explained and helped me to gain perspective. Working with Sitka made a stressful time, much less stressful. I am very glad we had them as our remodeler, and I expect if I ever get around to our bathroom remodel, I will work with them again. They are a great group to work with and they do excellent work.
IN THE BEGINNING:It took us a year before we were ready to remodel our kitchen. We interviewed five contractors from Angies List, went to Home & Remodeling shows - had a few contractors come out to talk with us from there, and changed our design thoughts in the meantime. One by one, we checked each contractor off our list. Sitka Projects was the first interviewed and remained at the top the entire time.A PLEASANT SURPRISE:We understand the value of paying for a design rendering, which gives you a more accurate idea of actual cost and a visual of the completed project. Some contractors quoted an outrageous sum, above and beyond the project cost, that we were just not willing to invest in, while others didnt offer any design services at all. Sitkas design was very detailed, reasonable and we were pleasantly surprised that it was credited, once we pulled the trigger.OFF & RUNNING:The process of remodeling is not for everyone, but if you can go into it with an open mind and know that “things” will come up, then Brad and his crew are ideal and easy to work with and we promise the end result will be everything you dreamed and possibly more. With their calm and cool approach, every snag we hit (which were very few for a 109 year old house), Sitka found a solution. We work from home, so during construction, the crew tread as lightly as possible to accommodate us. Every person involved with the project were professional, respectful and a joy to see on the job each day. Brad is a master communicator, updating on weekly schedule, changes and keeping the project moving forward.THE END:From the initial consultation to the design process to the finished room, this was a remodel DREAM as opposed to the nightmare, you often hear about. What we ended up with was beyond our wildest dreams. We got custom cabinetry, designed and built by an extraordinary craftsman who left no detail undone. Sitka Projects took our tiny kitchenette size kitchen and turned it into a functioning, beautiful space that is now in scale with the rest of the house. The experience was so positive that we were sad the day they pulled the work trailer out of the driveway. Sitka provides quality work, they are competitive and reasonable and we wish them one success after another. Would we work with Sitka Projects again? ABSOLUTELY!-Chris & Dan, Sellwood
We had a great experience with Sitka Projects. The kitchen in our 1927 Craftsman home was problematic -- it was cramped, with incredibly outdated fixtures, few electrical outlets, cabinets that looked like they had been made in a high school woodworking class, and no dishwasher.Based on the impressive work Sitka did on our nextdoor neighbors kitchen, we gave them a call and subsequently met with Brad. He seemed really attuned to our needs. My wife and I are both teachers, and we had a somewhat limited amount to spend on the project. Brad assured us that we could get what we needed on the budget we proposed. We met with several other contractors, and felt that Brad was much more in sync with our vision than the other companies we met with. We decided to go with Sitka. We met with Toby Presnell who does the design and finish carpentry. He heard our ideas and came up with some great plans for a design of the kitchen. We decided to take out a small non-loadbearing wall and create a bench near the back of the kitchen that could function as a breakfast nook.Work began a few weeks later. Toby and his crew became welcome visitors in our house, and we couldnt have been happier with them and their work. Sitka came in on budget and on time. We had allocated about five weeks for the project, which began at the end of January of 2014. Five weeks later we had a beautiful kitchen (with a dishwasher!). There were a couple of glitches—such as an old leaky pipe that revealed itself after the work was done, but Sitka was responsive and reasonable in dealing with the problem. The cabinetry is solid and stunning, and Sitkas overall workmanship is very impressive. We love our new kitchen, and thanks go to Brad, Toby, and everyone at Sitka for creating it for us.
Very skilled and professional; honest; highly recommend!
