I’ve seen way nicer, cleaner, better equipped gyms who don’t charge a initiation fee of $200. If he’s paying everyone that much, you’d think the place should look a lot nicer and have better equipment. He wasn’t clear on the fact that the down payment was un-refundable, even though the conformation email clearly states that if I cancel within three business days, I could cancel the membership and get any money I paid (IN ANY WAY OR FORM) back. It was a lie, I used the gym once and they still expected me to pay even though I told them I wanted to cancel, cute right? Luckily they are not getting any money from me! They’re honestly hilarious!

Been going here for about 3 months - really nice gym and equipment. Never very packed and a lot of space always! One thing is I wish they had an adductor/abductor machine. Also, the initiation fee was kind of ridiculous.

Best gym and staff in the coralville/north liberty/iowa city area. Always willing to go above and beyond for their members, super knowledgeable and helpful for your personal fitness goals and their trainers are absolutely amazing to work with.

The gym is not clean, weights are just left everywhere and not organized, the machines arent maintained very well, the clean suppliers are over used and not changed frequently, and the equipment is limited. By far the most dirty gym I have ever been to. Id highly recommend you pay a little bit more and go to any other gym in the area

Contract SCAM!!The management and staff are extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. They talked us into putting our account on hold when we moved out of town to an area without a gym, but failed to mention we would be charged for that period when restarting the membership. They charged us for SIX months of no use!! Then it was $50 to cancel the membership on top of those fees. Not to mention, it required a certified letter from our new address.Aside from that, the facility itself is small and extremely limited! Save your self money and a huge headache! Planet Fitness is a much better option, no contact and better communication. DO NOT work with this gym.

I’ve been using anytime fitness for the last 3 years, and this is by far the nicest one I’ve been to. The trainers are friendly and inviting, you can tell they want to be there. The gym itself has a ton of space, with a couple dozen cardio machines and plenty of free weight equipment. The only thing that it doesn’t have is an adductor/abductor machine for legs, really that’s the only drawback in my mind

This gym is highly disappointing. I had been charged two months of fees while the gym was closed due to the pandemic and was told there was nothing they could do about it. After I told them I was relocating to a city that was too far from an Anytime Fitness I was told to put the account on hold and it would be more beneficial for me to do that. However, I was not told I would still be getting charged through out the time my account was on hold for “gym fees” and now that it’s been almost a year since I’ve used my account I’ve been trying to get it closed and it’s the most aggravating process I’ve ever seen. I am highly disappointed and will never do business with an Anytime Fitness ever again.

Management was hard to get ahold of. My AF bill was 80$ a month. Dont recommend.

This a great location and much bigger than some of the other locations. It is very clean. If you want a gym that requires masks, this isnt the place for you. Masks can be worn but are not required.

I signed up prior to COVID19 and prior to my move across the country to temporarily have access to a gym. I informed the owner that I would be moving soon and he offered me all the options, such as transferring my membership and canceling. Due to my graduate program offering a gym, I had to cancel my membership and completed all the necessary steps. However, I saw that I had some strange charges on my account. While I was very upset about the billing and became frustrated in all the work in trying to pin down where the charges are coming from, Tony (the owner) immediately contacted me after voicing my concern. He calmly explained the charges and where the complications came from as well as what can be done to remedy the situation. Overall, wonderful service from a personable owner.

Very simple place. Has just enough equipment to get a workout in, but I cant imagine how they can charge the rates they do for what they have there.

Contract scam as all other reviews state. Good luck getting helpful response from managers and canceling membership EVEN AFTER your membership term is over. Gym was nice when I first signed up. Had a bag room (whole reason I signed up) that they eliminated along with a few other things. They slowly started taking away things that were relevant for certain workouts and began slacking on cleanliness and upkeep. No good machines. Barely any good machines to use for leg workouts. Leaky ceilings will drip water on you. Could be cleaner and better kept by staff. Very basic and expensive for no reason. I definitely DO NOT recommend this place. One star bc I can’t give em 0 stars.

I really really wish I could give this 0 stars. I got locked out of this single location and nowhere else for what reasons I have no idea. The owner is super unfriendly and unprofessional and he’s never at the gym. I’d definitely stay away super sketch set up.

So I signed up today at this gym with Tony (manager/owner?). He was very helpful in explaining the process and gave me tour of the gym. Gym looks clean and nice bathrooms. I see lots of people complaining about the cancellation but thats not the case as my parents successfully canceled their subscription after it was completed. Looking forward to workout here!

I switched from my other gym to anytime to try it out and I am glad I did! I love that I can go anytime I want and have enough equipment to get my workouts in! The people also are very welcoming and help me with my form and create different workouts that work for them!

Good place for exercising

Came here for a workout at 7 in the morning and there’s no staff here (but some random guy is working out with all doors locked). This should NOT be called ANYTIME FITNESS if you have no staff and isn’t open 24/7!!! Google even says they’re 24/7 but they truly aren’t. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!

The gym is fine. If you try to cancel the membership they’ll make you go through ABC financial. You’ll have to send your cancellation via certified mail. What a joke. Don’t waste your time or energy.

This manager locks you out of his gym. He is very unprofessional and unfriendly and that’s when he’s there which isn’t much. Stay away!

Update a year later,still one of my favorite locations, still very truck accessible. new manager named Bobby, looks like a surfer dude, very friendly and outgoing. Im sure hell bring in new members. always clean always stocked always awesome.original,Incredibly truck accessible, I dont know if that gravel lot will be there forever but for now at least its the dream location for trucks.

This is just one of the contract trap guys do not even think to go here, firs they are gonna tell you that you can cancel your membership anytime you want it but once when you sign the papers there is no way to quit from it, it’s been 6 months that I don’t even use the gym because of some health problems and they still keep charging money from my account ever mont! I went to there I explain the situation they gave it me a number to call and I call the number but they just keep saying they r sorry and nothing else, I moved from there but they still charge from me so guys I absolutely don’t recommend this place, think 1000 times before go there!!!!!

Shady. Dishonest. Please do not get a membership here. Management only wants your contract. If you are a potential new member you are treated like royalty. There are staffed hours, but no one is there during those times. You finally get a hold of someone so you can cancel your month-to-month contract and are given a 1-888 number to call instead. You call the number and they tell you there is nothing they can do because you signed a year contract! You call the gym and they tell you Too Bad, So Sad sucka! It is YOUR fault that you didnt understand that the words we told you were different than the contract you signed on an electronic pad that didnt have the full contract on it. P.S. Same management runs the North Liberty location. You have been warned!!UPDATE: I elevated my concern to corporate and was able to get our sons membership cancelled by reaching out to the CEO of Anytime Fitness.

The location and the fact that its 24/7 is the best part. This area doesnt have to many options for gyms so this works pretty well... I just wish the site had a few more racks and free weight equipment... also extremely busy in the afternoon which makes getting on the equipment you need a pain...

As multiple reviews have stated, you should simply avoid this gym at all costs... The management is extremely crooked and unethical... They are happy to intentionally mislead people into signing long term contracts by using deceptive practices throughout the contract process. As multiple reviews have stated, when you request to cancel, management will be completely unresponsive... The commentary Ive received numerous times is I cant give out the managers phone number, but hell call you soon.Its been 6 months, and after multiple requests, Ive yet to hear from management... I honestly dont understand how these people live with themselves... I would suggest you consider any other gym in the Iowa City area before Anytime Fitness.

DO NOT JOIN. LITERALLY A RACKET. The financial company ABC Financial will not let you leave. Ive been a member of this gym for 2 years but have to cancel because I am moving out of state.When I called to cancel I: 1. Was told I had to call ABC Financial instead. 2. Had to sit through a ridiculously long wait period to get to an actual human because their automated call system does not have any account management options. 3. Found out that I actually had to send a written cancellation notice to some P.O. Box in Arkansas through CERTIFIED MAIL (which costs 7x more than regular mail) and requires you to go during business hours to a certified mail provider. 4. I will continue to be charged until 30 days AFTER they receive and process this letter, however long that will be.Regular mail is good enough for the IRS but not for ABC Financial only because they want to squeeze every last dime out of you they can - a racket. Save yourself the trouble and go to another gym. This gym isnt worth all that.

Friendly, clean and a good amount of space. Enough equipment to go around for everyone and the machines are newer. Great locker room areas and towel service.

This is just another scumbag organization. When you try and leave the gym, it just keeps getting worse. They get one star because 0 doesnt register in a 5-star system.The introduction I received at this gym was embarrassing--the girl who did it was clearly going through the ropes and not at all interested in what either my girlfriend or myself needed in a gym, nor did she care what our long-term goals where. She was staring off while counting how long we planked and couldnt give a care in the world even though we just spent over $1000 for a year membership. OK, whatever, Ive been lifting for years and I guess I didnt really need anything from that interaction anyway.The facility is mediocre and there isnt enough equipment to satisfy more than two serious gym attendees at a time. There is no protocol for weight lifting and no-one encourages proper gym use; no-one is held accountable for cleaning the machines when they are done or putting weights away--even when employees are onsite! When I saw employees in the building I was never, not even once, asked how I was doing, offered a tip on my form, given an idea on how to work towards a goal. Nothing. I guess you have to set up private personal trainer sessions to get anything out of them, even a hello.Finally, I moved away and didnt think I would have to worry about Anytime Fitness charging me because, well, I signed a ONE YEAR membership and paid in full. Not only am I now being charged an automatic monthly membership, but I have to go through corporate BS at ABC who Anytime Fitness has apparently outsourced their cancellation policies to. I have to write a written letter, sent through certified mail, requesting a stop of service (EVEN THOUGH I ONLY SIGNED UP FOR A YEAR) and--get this--its going to take 30 days REGARDLESS which means Im going to get charged ANOTHER month of service in the meantime. I disputed the charge at my bank and when I told the customer service rep at ABC about it she said that if I dont pay the charges ABC is going to turn me in to collections!Two years prior when I lived in Portland, OR I signed a one year membership at Anytime Fitness and I stopped getting charged IMMEDIATELY when the year was over. The guy who ran the place offered me tips when I saw him in the gym, showed me some new techniques, offered me diet advice, and never pushed a sale. If I didnt have to move for business I would have stayed there for life. And when I left, there was no problem! No phone call, no ABC, no scumbag automatic charge, no written letter, no certified mail, no nothing. Just end of business transactionThe organization is garbage. They dont care about you, they dont care about your success, and they certainly dont care about what you need in a gym. They just want to snake you in and get you to forget about the charges until one day you want to leave and then theyll squeeze you for everything they can. Every month that goes by you will get hit with a dollar charge here, ten dollar charge there, all in the name of interest or processing or annual or whatever. I am going to absolutely every avenue I can to spread the word NOT to do business with this organization.I STRONGLY encourage you to go elsewhere--you are much better off going through the University of Iowa gym because there are WAY more machines, its much cleaner, they sell smoothies and snacks at a bar when youre done, they have a pool, basketball area, jogging area, and they DONT SCREW YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE.

Really upgraded everything the last time I was in that gym there wasnt a lot of equipment now theres Tons of equipment had one of the best leg days Ive had in months keep up the great work love it

IN NO WAY should you join this gym. They use a third party management system that demands you send a CERTIFIED postal letter in order to stop billing you. Even after getting it they STILL kept charging me. Its not worth it even if the facilities are well done. Impossible to get rid of.

The manager (Bradley) told us to be there at 10am the next day to workout and discuss a membership. We waited around for 30minutes then went to planet fitness where my girlfriend and I purchased a membership.

Just an FYI their billing company is still running this scam that requires 30 days notice and “certified letter” in the mail to cancel service or even end a one year membership. It’s 2019 but emails don’t count. Wise scam, touché sir.
