Master Jimmy has been around a while he was my best friends teacher back when I was in high school and is now my daughters teacher. He takes his time to make sure all his students do there best and reach there potential

SDA has some awesome warriors on the mats and some extremely knowledgeable instructors. Great energy and the dojo makes me feel like Im back in my gritty high school wrestling days!

I have been going to Self Defense America for about 2 months now and I go 4 days a week. Master Jimmy and Master Pamela are awesome instructors. I would say for the area it is the best in town. They just moved into a larger building so the classes are not crowded and there is plenty of space. I have seen students from as young as 4 years old and as old as 33. It is a great way to spend time with your family or just get a good work out. If you are thinking about joining give them a call at 254-518-KICK (5425).

Master Jimmy is funny and he teaches us real well. He teaches us friendship, self defense, and respect. I have only been in the class for almost two months and I am having so much fun!

Took my 4 year old here to try it out. The instructors are very nice and welcoming. My son was the youngest in The class. The mix ages 4-12. But everyone is helpful.

Just for kids, but claims for everyone. Not even a real class. Just there to give the kids the feeling of learning a martial art. Not really a good teacher in my opinion. Really impatient. Doesnt really help on what the student is struggling with. The instructor even told me to YouTube the parts Im struggling with and just wanted to advance to the next part without me even really understanding the previous part. Instructor argues with his girlfriend (or what ever she is) multiple times right in front of me. Once for literally 10 mins. I show up 10-15 min early, start about 10 mins after set time, and finish 15 mins early. So really paying for about 30-45 mins of class. Personally I recommend some where else, especially if an adult, unless you want to give your child(ren) and experience of pretend martial arts.

I started my son at Self Defense America and really enjoyed it until we moved and saw what REAL Tae Kwon Do was all about. This is great if you dont mind paying for an experience or something to do for your kid but in no way does Self Defense America even hold a candle to what a formal training TKD class entails. Their lack of discipline and attention to form detail and curriculum really makes it easy to beat. My son has thrived at his new TKD school and is really learning skills that he would have not learned if he stayed here.Self Defense America is good if you want to do something but it is not even close to what TKD really is.
