Though I have worked with The University of Georgia SBDC for over 11 years now, I have also been a client of the UGA SBDC (when my wife and I owned two art galleries and I was starting a real estate investing company back in 1999). Not having a business background, I found the time with Lori (my consultant) a great opportunity to just think through the challenges and opportunities I faced as I built my businesses. Though initially I went to UGA to obtain financial projections, over the long term, I found my discussions with Lori helped me think through on a deeper level the direction of my businesses and to better handle the issues I faced. Having joined as faculty of UGA in 2005, I now see the experience from the other side and I can truly say that I continue to learn and grow in my ability to run my business through my association with my colleagues both here in Columbus and across the state, as well as the business owners I work with on a daily basis.
