I had replaced all 4 Calipers on my 2008 Audi A3 as well as upgraded to SS brake lines. Afterwards, my brother and I had worked on bleeding my brakes to the best of abilities but the brake pedal felt spongy. It’s July 1st and I was on a time crunch to get the Brakes properly bled because I had to get my daughter dropped off for Camp Akita at 2pm. I called German Autowerks and spoke to Chris and explained my situation. Chris was able to get me in with help from his service manager Jeff the same morning! They were aware I would have my son with me while I waited for the car to be serviced and when we got there they were completely welcoming. I enjoyed talking to Chris and Jeff regarding VW’s Mercedes as well as other things. Every time I come into German Autowerks I leave extremely satisfied with their work and the shop prices. I recommend German Autowerks for you automotive needs. You will not be disappointed!

German Autowerks is always the first place I think of when I need any repairs done to my car. Their customer service is great and they will communicate with you throughout every step of the process. They were able to replace a bad wheel bearing and all four brake pads on my A4 in no time! I highly recommend them and will do business with them in the future!

My car had an intermittent issue that was hard to pin down. They replaced a sensor and then the issue persisted. They replaced a fuel pump and only charged the cost of the part. They had it done in a day but I wasn’t able to pick up the car until the end of the week. The stored the car inside and we’re flexible with my schedule to pick it. 10/10 would use again.

Chris and Jeff over at German Autowerks were amazing. They have diagnosed my 2015 Audi A3 with needing a Thermostat and Water pump as well as two wheel bearings. They were able to get me in same day when most shops had a wait of a week or two and did the job right. Also they worked with my warranty company (Car Shield) and were very patient and persistent in getting it approved through them. They called and informed me of where they were at every step of the process. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism as well as expertise. They will be getting more of my business in the future. If you have a german vehicle make sure if you have any needs go and see them!

Ive been going to German Autowerks for many years, first with my B5 A4, then my Mk1 Mini, and most recently my B8 S4. In this past year and a half, as of my last estimate, Ive spent about 5.5k on various repairs in this shop.I can, unfortunately, no longer trust German Autowerks to do quality work.My last service, for replacement rotors and pads, took three weeks. When I received the car back I discovered it was missing, in no particular order, OIL DIPSTICK (wasnt in for an oil change), TWO CALIPER BOLTS (driverside), ANTI-RATTLE SPRING CLIP (passenger side).I should not have to personally check that the work this shop (or any other professional) does was executed correctly. Not only is this negligent, it is dangerous.Once I had the car back (for the 3rd time) I noticed a slight grinding at low speeds and noticed a groove being made in my brand new rotor. I brought the car back, explained what I thought the issue likely was (caliper carrier making contact with the rotor), and was told over the phone its the pads, theres no way the carrier is causing that damage. They clearly didnt check, just assumed I wouldnt know any better. Once I got the car back home, I pulled the pads, it is definitely the caliper carrier (see photos), likely damaged and pushed into the rotor when the carrier bolts were left off and then driven for two weeks.I will be replacing the part myself and I will never trust German Autowerks to touch my car again.Im not sure what has changed, but if you bring your car here, be prepared to check all the work that is done. Truly a shame.

I tend to be nervous about mechanics working on my VW GTI. The master mechanic Jeff did an amazing job working on my intake, plugs/coils and timing chain. The day I drove my car off the lot it felt like a new car. Very professional and friendly staff including Chris who helps at the front desk. I would highly recommend service here, they also are very reasonable with pricing for german autos. Thank you again for making me a happy driver!!

New to Columbus, OH. In the military and just moved from Germany and needed to have some parts and gaskets replaced on my BMW. They will not install customer provided parts even if they are OEM parts for warranty reasons. Wont work on vehicles if exhaust is modified due to Ohio State regulations on motor vehicles (catalytic converters) even if the registration is out of state. Person I spoke with was kind of rude towards the end of calling about exhaust work, gaskets, and attempted to talk to me like Im not understanding the context of the conversation instead of providing me information that would be helpful and just seemed annoyed.

At first the experience with German Autowerks was great then I had an issue with them not finishing the job before sending me home with my car. They had my car for a week before they stated the car was ready for pick up which it turns out it was not. I picked up my car on Friday and noticed all the issues Saturday morning when i turned on my windshield wipers and a piece of plastic flew out, part of my shroud. After popping the hood it was easy to notice a lot of work was left undone or done very poorly. They lost my battery cover. They broke the shroud for my air box and didnt even attempt to reattach. They left air sensor unplugged. They left a piece of the air box under the windshield wiper. The didnt reinstall the clamp on the MAP sensor correctly. They also didnt bleed the brakes properly after installing a new brake booster. I needed my vehicle so I finished the work that I paid German Autowerks to do. The Monday following was the first day they were open for business and I contacted Terry, one of the owners, to discuss this issue. He requested that I bring the car back and they would fix the issues. I told them that i had to fix the issues myself as I needed my car and they were closed on the weekend, not to mention they had my car for a week and couldnt complete the work correctly. I asked for a partial refund since I had to finish the work that I paid them for and to cover the cost of damaged and missing parts. At that point German Autowerks became very unprofessional. I will not do business with this company again due to the inability to complete the work they were paid for and the lack of customer service when they made a mistake.

This place is a scam spend over $2400 to fix my car at 1st they were supposed to put new valve cover gasket on the car. Picked the car up and it was smoking so bad I took it back right away the. They said I need a new valve cover. So they charged me to put a new one in which the valve cover comes with the gasket so I basically paid for the gasket twice. After they said they fixed it for the second time I picked it up as soon as I started it the car started smoking worse than ever. They said that that was normal and now my car is leaking oil every where and smoking constantly. Also my check engine light was on when I got it back and they said they are sorry that they forgot to put some parts back on the car before giving me it so they did they but still didn’t fix what I paid for now my car is way worse than it was and now I’m out $2400. This is by far the worsts auto shop I have ever been too will never go back and will not recommend anyone ever go there. Horrible customer service the mechanics are not certified and do not know what they are doing I had to show them what to do and where is was leaking. Very unprofessional. I WILL be calling my attorney and contacting the BBB and filing a complaint.

I have an 09 VW Rabbit in otherwise great condition, but recently it seemed like everything started going wrong at once. I took it to a dealership for two of the issues and probably paid too much. Finally, after telling the dealership for the second time that I was hearing a knocking/rattling sound from the engine (the first time they conveniently didnt hear anything and sent me on my way; the second time they wanted to charge me another 150 to diagnose a problem that they failed to find the first time), they finally told me that my alternator was now going bad, and quoted a pretty ridiculous amount to fix it. I decided to look elsewhere, and found German Autowerks in a Google search. They were very prompt in responding to my message asking if they could service it. Jeff and Terry are great guys and reassured me that they could do better than the dealership, and they werent wrong. They saved me a ton of money, and better yet, they stand behind their work. They were very honest and clear about the whole process. I know where Ill be bringing my car for future repairs. I just wish I had done it sooner!

Response to owner: HOW on earth could I feel comfortable or confident bringing the vehicle here when you couldn’t even fill up the tank or wiper fluid upon my request when purchasing the vehicle? Absolutely sketchy and I should have known from that moment you were just glad to get it off your hands. It was extremely unprofessional. I believe a bad review of my experience is appropriate for this situation considering I wasted $3,000 on a car that didn’t drive more than 5 times. And yes, the belt was backwards despite you claiming it wasn’t possible. I wholeheartedly trust the professional mechanic I took it to rather than the shady dealer I purchased it from. I reiterate what my original post states: No one should purchase a vehicle or come in for a repair unless they know everything about cars.Original Post: I purchased a used Volkswagen Jetta here in early January. I test drove it and thought everything was fine. However, even on the way home I noticed they did not fill up the tank or wiper fluid as I had requested after test driving before purchasing. Since January, I have literally only driven this car 5 times (INCLUDING the drive home from German Autowerks) because of the issues it has. The fourth time I went to start the car, it wouldn’t start or even turn on. I bought a brand new battery for it, and put it in, and it worked FOR ONE DRIVE. I took it to the mechanic for them to say I was grossly overcharged for the car (I paid $3000, and they said it was a lemon not worth more than $500 at most!! because of the issues it had before I even bought it) Funny story: the mechanics even told me that German Autowerks put the belt on BACKWARDS, which was a likely cause for some of the problems the car has.Moral of the story: DO NOT buy a car here (or even take your car there for repairs) unless you know everything under the sun about cars and plan to watch over them and guide them as they do everything. They will take advantage of you. Totally a shame, since this was my first real adult purchase and I put all of my trust into them (especially Bob, the man who walked me through the paperwork) just for them to ruin everything.

About a month ago, I went here knowing I needed my brake system bled. I told them specifically that that is what I needed, because I was getting the Trifecta Lights on my cluster and there was air still trapped in the system after changing all my brake lines, including the ones at the ABS pump. After having my car for not very long, they told me they needed to hook up a diagnostic system to find out what the cause of the lights were and that would cost $280. Well, it seems they dont pay attention when the customer tells them what kind of work they want done. I ended up doing the brake bleed myself with BMW software and, lo and behold, the lights went away. Your mileage may vary with them but, for me, it was annoying that I told them what I needed and they ignored that. Why? I dont know. I dont know how much simpler one can say, I need my brake system bled. Only thing I do know is that any more servicing I need done on my car, Ill find someone else.

German Autowerks is awesome! Let me elaborate. I just bought a used 2013 BMW 328i xdrive a couple of months ago. In great condition, super low miles, and one month later, the transfer case goes bad. I took my car to be diagnosed and get a repair quote at local BMW dealership and was given a breakdown of all the parts that needed to be replaced and final cost for parts and labor. It was an astronomical amount. I decided to get a second opinion but had a pretty difficult time finding anyone willing to replace the notorious transfer case. I found German Autowerks through a Google search and immediately Terry was super kind and knew the problems people have with transfer cases going bad. He told me they could absolutely fix it and to just bring my car on in. I forwarded the quote the BMW dealer gave me to Terry and upon inspecting my car, they found that my car did NOT in fact even need all of the parts replaced that I was told by the dealership. German Autowerks was able to fix my car quickly and for less than 1/3 of what the dealer was going to charge. Terry took the time to explain what they did, inspected, and the test drive upon completion of the work. He also reassured me that my car is in great shape aside from the transfer case having gone bad. I cant say enough good things about the service they provided and they have definitely gained a long term customer in me.

Couldnt figure out what was wrong with my car without wanting minimum of $450 to replace battery and start taking things apart, and Im sure after they started more $$$ would of been added, still charged me $65 for them to plus their diagnosis scan tool Which I could of taken to auto parts for that. You dont charge someone $65 to tell them they have a bad battery and if they want to continue it would be minimum of $450. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU HAVE DEEP POCKETS!

A diamond in the rough- rare to find a group of people that go above and beyond for their customers but this is hands down the best auto service company I have ever dealt with. We live over an hour away, and the staff stayed late the last day of buisness before Xmas so we could check out an amazingly well priced used VW Beetle for our daughter. They were friendly, knowledable, honest and straight forward about their cars for sale and we bought here after looking at multiple dealerships previously. The people here make the difference, and you would be hard pressed to find any company with a better group than German Autowerks. We had a question about a month after our purchase and stopped by the shop and everyone was exactly as helpful as when we made a purchase. They genuinely care about their customers and their jobs and it shines throughout the shop from the mechanics that came outside to demo the answer to our question, and to the friendly front desk people that greet you with a smile. Bob remembered our purchase and asked if our daughter was surprised...she was there this trip and got the chance to tell him herself that it was the best Xmas ever and she LOVES her VW Beetle Thank you to all at German Autowerks- We will make the hour+ drive for any service needs in the future because that is how highly we value the staff and service we received - you can trust German Autowerks cares

We came to German Autowerks looking for a reliable car for our 16-year-old daughter. This is such a stressful time when your child starts driving! But Bob and the staff at German Autowerks made sure that we left with the right car. Their focus was on safety and reliability. They cared about our daughter and worked to make sure we were leaving with something that was both reliable and safe, as well as in good shape. When we picked the car up, we were greeted by multiple staff who were eager to tell us what they did to ensure we were going home with a great car for our money. One mechanic assured us that he put the same care in as he would for his own daughter, because he would want someone to do the same in 8 years. By the time we left, we knew we would be back. This was a terrific car buying experience. Thank you Bob, and all of the staff at German Autowerks!

At first I was happy with my choice of using German Autowerks to service my X3, although it drained my wallet. It started as a basic oil change to thousands of dollars in repairs. Had NO signs of oil leaks prior to visit but ended up paying for an oil stand housing gasket leak, a valve cover leak, and coolant flush because supposedly the wrong coolant was put in even though it was filled with bmw compatible coolant so I had them do all the work. But hey, I have to put my trust in someone to do the job and do it right so what I am supposed to do? Since having the work done, I do have signs of leaking in our garage now. I refuse to go back to them and have further problems developed from the last service work that was done. I took our car to another service shop and they shown me that my coolant was not flushed and the value cover was not replaced but simply cleaned off. He went down my list of service work I had done at German Autowerks and stated how I was way overcharged. Jobs that should have only taken 20-30mins was getting charged at 4 hours etc. Its hard to trust businesses especially auto service departments because they can tell the person that knows little about cars anything and get away with it. This is my experience and my opinion about this place. Many others probably had great service and everything needing to be done to their vehicles was legit and done correctly. Just be careful is all Im saying. Best of luck to you.

German Autowerks had many great reviews, so I decided to trust them with my repairs.I showed up early the next morning (7AM), they were very kind and able to fit me in as a walk-in. They inspected the tire promptly. Since it is a rarer tire they needed to send for it from another part of town (pretty standard from when I called other tire shops). They got me back on the road before 11. The price they quoted me for tire + labor was also reasonable and on par with the other shops that I called.I had a great experience with German Autowerks. I told John that I would buy the car, mind you I haven’t seen it in person as I live five hours away. John said great I’ll see you Saturday, which he knew I was driving 5 hours Saturday morning. I called Friday to find out how he would like to be paid and again John said he would see us Saturday. Well I get off work and go home and me and my family leave at 530am cst. We arrive at German Autowerks at the 1100-1130 est. we walk in the door and the Owners wife has an older couple walking out to drive the car. Well at this moment I am heated. John tells me he is sorry and that his wife didn’t know I was driving there. Well couple gets back and decides to buy the car. Well at this point now we are being asked if there is anything else on the Lot we like. We drove one other and the Airbag light and the convertible top light was on. After this we all go sit in our car and my daughter is in tears as this is her first car we are buying that she is paying for. Wife is beyond mad also. You know I understand they are in the business of selling cars but this car shouldn’t have even been an option for the older couple to look at. John knew we were driving 5 hours from Dale, Indiana and should have told us we needed a deposit to hold the car or should have not had it in front for all customers to buy. I took it to the shop and the service writer explained that they would need at least an hour labor to figure out what was needed. They came back with a list of items and took the time to explain each item and then prioritize what was needed and what could wait. They were very upfront about the potential cost of all the items but after I had the most needed repairs completed, my car ran much better and the warning lights on the dash were out. It still needs some work but I have an idea what it should cost if nothing else goes wrong. I worked with John and Jesse for many years. Both are stand up guys. I would not hesitate to have John work on any of mine or my families vehicles. I feel the same of Jesse. Keep up the good work guys.

These guys drove my 2003 BMW 330xi that had this wierd shaking problem for 2 hours and couldnt diagnose the issue but saw I had a leak in the rear diff, so they filled it up and they thought it might fix the problem. It did! Was a super cheap diagnosis and they worked hard to figure it out. I had even suggested motor mounts and they were very honest they couldnt find anything wrong with them or the car. Super cool, honest dudes with fair labor rates. Suggesting them to a buddy myself.

Usually people dread having to take their car to the shop. But the crew at German Autowerks alway set my mind at ease. Theyre honest and their prices are way lower than the dealership, sometimes literally half the price! John the owner is always willing to discuss options to help save you money. I appreciate their honesty and all of them do a fine job! Having to maintain a Volkswagon is already stressful and these guys help lighten the load.

Excellent staff will answer any questions you have even if youre doing work on your own and want some advice. I brought in my S4 with a broken caliper (that I screwed up) these guys squeezed me in and took on the project to fix everything staying late on a Friday. Excellent mechanics, excellent owner, excellent service. This is the 3rd time Ive been here. Ive got my 55k service done here and my wifes 45k service done here. Will always do my business here as long as I own a German car.

Bought a car in mid December and was told I was getting an excellent deal. On the drive home the oil light came on and they towed it back that night and said they fixed it. A couple of days later the car wouldn’t start and they had to tow it again and replace the starter. A week later I was driving the car to visit my brother and the oil light came back on, I called and they told me to keep driving it and then my engine exploded. They were nice and replaced the engine for me but kept telling me how they didn’t have to do it because I bought the car as is. I appreciate that they replaced it but now the new engine is having the same problems and I had to cancel another trip because of how unreliable this car is. Not to mention all the other little things like no AC, one windshield wiper stopped working, all the handles in the interior of the car broke off, and my check engine light is on for something else. It was my first experience buying a car and I used all of my savings. Now it’s not even 6 months later and I have to figure out a way to buy a new car. Save yourself the time, money, and stress and stay very very far away from this place.

I purchased my wifes 1998 A6 Quattro from John about 3 1/2 years ago. I usually do my own repair work, but had John and his guys take care of a couple of minor issues as part of the purchase agreement. Since then, I have been back a few times to ask for a nudge in the right direction when I was stuck chasing down some electrical issues. John and his team were always very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend them.

One of the best car buying experiences I have ever had. The difference in professionalism and knowledge is obvious. I went to a plethora of used car lots before GA and left disappointed. I would find hidden damage, mechanical issues and even title issues that were not disclosed and often hidden by these decrepit car lots.GA treated me fairly, allowed me to inspect the vehicle on one of their racks and even fixed a small issue we had with the vehicle after purchase.Thank you for making an often stressful experience pleasurable.Special thanks to Bruno.

If I could do no stars and a review I would. I took my car in and both times they lied to me about the estimate and my car came out driving the exact same as it did before. Even after a transmission replacement. Either way, they still charged me more than what they said. So. 🖕

John and the team are rock solidI have had them do a lot of work on our 58 Beetle the past few years. Work is always quality and the team will even correct something they worked on several years ago under warranty in many cases.I picked our bug up again today after getting the front end and suspension worked on. John and his team where also able to completely revamp our brake system from a single to dual reservoir system and a very fair price. If you need service on a new car or have an old VW I thoroughly recommend you pay John and the team a visit. Great bunch of guysAnd Kudos Lenny.... I havent had that much fun driving a car in a long time Bug drove great :)

Our Jetta had a problem no one else could find... We had changed the fuel pump, all the relays, checked a bunch of electrical connections, and the car still wouldnt run. They diagnosed and found a few bad wires in the main engine harness, had them fixed in one day, and charged us less than what the replacement fuel pump cost me somewhere else. Two other shops thought is was a bad ECU and wanted to charge $1500 to replace it. Im glad I brought it to German Autowerks instead. Great shop!

Ive taken my Jetta here a few times for various work. The people are courteous and helpful, they do good work, and are honest. While their prices are fair, Ive found that there isnt a huge difference between German Autowerks and some local dealers.Besides price, part of the reason I deducted one star is something a bit silly. They have the worlds worst music playing when youre on the phone on hold. Seriously, its awful. Otherwise Id definitely recommend German Autowerks.

My car was making a slight humming noise when driving, I suspected a faulty rear suspension bushing and took it for an inspection but they found the issue to be with tyres. The guys I interacted with (Bruno & Rob) are friendly and honest people. I got my oil changed during the same visit. All in - they took less than 90 mins to give me back my car and their prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place to friends/family.
