Price was right and National keeps the interaction so simple. Im an Emerald Club member through my employer and that makes renting from National nice. The occasional free rental and/or upgrade. If cost is reasonable, Ill choose National.

I picked my car up from National @ the Colorado Springs Airport location and after having to wait 2 hours for a car, the representative told me that I could return the vehicle without having to fill the gas tank because of the inconvenience... I then called the customer service line 2 days before returning the vehicle to make sure that I indeed didnt have to Fill up the tank and customer service said that that was not correct... there was nothing on my reservation summary indicating such thing... I submitted a request twice for a representative from the Colorado Springs location to contact me and no one did. So... I ended up having to pay $5 to have the tank filled.UPDATED: after posting my initial review, I was contacted and the issue was rectified. Thank you.

I love National Rent Car Rental. I have used them for years. During a recent tiro to the location at the Ontario CA airport I had a question about my final bill. Both counter agents made sure to take time to put me at ease about my concern and, made sure I knew how much I was appreciated. It sure feels good to be appreciated thank you Nation Car Rental.

National does it again. Quality car selection, great condition and friendly, helpful staff. We did a last minute vehicle class change that was accommodated quickly along with a discount down to the lower class. Rapid exit process where a driver literally took our keys and information as we walked to the terminal.

I made a reservation for a car at the Colorado Springs Airport to be available when I arrived on an American Airlines flight Saturday 6/19/21. The man at the National counter found my reservation but told me he had no car for me. He said his management all knew that there would be no car despite their promise that there would be one available. When I asked him how he and his team could make promises knowing people were counting on them and I would be stranded at the airport he shrugged and said I could “call a taxi”.I recommend if you are flying into Colorado Springs or using National Rental Car in any area (I think Enterprise owns them) that you have a plan A, a plan B, and plan C. They will leave you stranded without a second thought! Do not count on them!I did finally find a rental car at Budget. It is costing twice as much as the full size National had said was reserved for me and is an “economy” level car.I understand this is business and business is cut-throat, but you can’t screw your customers and expect to survive.

Dropped off a car and asked for a printed receipt. I explained that the last time I was overcharged by $1400 and I wanted to ensure that didnt happen again. The girl at the booth said she was too busy to print me a reciept?? There was absolutely nobody else at the rental area at the time I asked for a reciept. Keep killing the customer service game national!!!

As an Emerald member I was disappointed that Colorado Springs did not offer the Emerald package. Also no one was available at drop off to leave the keys. I had to leave the keys at the counter and hope no one steals them. I noticed the other car rental companies had drop boxes.

Overall, I like National. However, this location, I tried in vane for over an hour to reach someone by phone and one time it rang and rang and rang until Lost and Found picked up. Then, every time Id call again, it kept shifting me to the main National line which wasnt going to do me any good.

Got to Colorado Springs airport gave them my confirmation number and was told I had no reservation. Was told must have been a system glitch, but they had an extra suv on the lot. Went through the usual motions and off we went no problem. Sitting in my hotel during the trip tonight and I get an an email receipt showing the original rental had been turned in at the Denver airport. It also shows it was picked up at 6:40 pm on April 28 that is 2 hours before I arrived. I am currently still in position of the replacement rental. This is one of the strangest things I have ever experienced with national in 20 years. I called the 800 number explained the situation and was told to call back in the morning. The person on the line said there was no record of me having a rental out at this time.

Renters Beware!!!!This April, I flew in to Santa Barbara Ca and rented a car from aAamo with my daughter.I went to the counter to get my car the agent told me they were sold out I had reserved a car weeks before and waited outside the airport for over 45 minutes for a car. The agent came out handed me my keys and did not inspect the car with me. The car was dirty but I took it anyway since was then 1 hour late, I came in to see my mom who was dying in the hospital so it was a short visit since she passed while I was there. I did not leave possession of my car the entire trip so no way way was the car damaged by someone else. I then drove the car back to the airport a few days later and filled it up walked the car and saw no damages., I handed the keys to the same agent who gave me the car. 10 days later I receive a email saying I owe them 1100.00 for damages on the car. I almost had a heart attack because this is all I needed, and thought there as a mistake.. I called them 3 times e mailed twice and explained I would not return their car damaged if I had done it myself. Alamo did not back off and I am going to get to the bottom of this!!! We rent also form National which is a affiliate of Alamo and I am going to now rent through another company!!!! Dan Herman/Bobbie Reif

When I dropped off my car I was promised that my receipt would be emailed to me, after that sketchy turn-in process rendered them unable to print me off a hard copy after collecting my keys at the kiosk but then sending me to the counter inside for a receipt. After arriving at my final destination 7 hours later I still had no email, and so I called the 800 number to try to get the local number to remind them to email me the receipt. The individuals at the 800 number were very courteous and polite, however of no help at all. Apparently there are no local numbers for the individual branches. There is no way for even the corporate office to directly communicate with their branches. Apparently, in 2021, National has yet to subscribe to the telephone phenomenon that was all the craze of the mid-1900s. And so my sole option was to have their operator electronically send a query to the branch about my receipt, for which I was assured a response, via email again, in 24 to 48 hours.I will say that everyone that I interacted with from the counter to the operators was extremely polite and very nice. The janky methods of communication and handling of accountability to their customers leaves much to be desired.

I highly recommend National Car Rental Ive been using them for over 10 years. Definitely love to Emerald Isle never had an issue. Most of the time I get a better car can I sign up for process is so easy. Picking up a car and drop it off in such a simple process

Currently have to fight over milage. The Van was ok and they worked with me initially and is the only reason it bumped up a star. But the milage they ate trying to charge for is more than double the actual distance I traveled.

I will not rent from National ever again. The tire had a blowout and the car was towed. Enterprise had no cars so I had to Uber the rest of my trip. I was told repeatedly I would not be charged beyond Tuesday. Fast forward a week later, the branch is still refusing to close my contract, their customer service team cannot help, and I’m continuing to be charged for a rental I am not in. The car was towed to a place National recommended and they know where the car is. If I lived in the state I would be happy to pick up the car myself since they are too lazy to do so. If you’re flying into Denver, CO pick a different rental agency. At National it seems like they enjoy being as dishonest as possible.

Helpful counter agent at Colorado Springs airport. Not being able to walk out to the rental cars directly was confusing and took longer than anticipated for pick-up and having to return keys to counter was another delay. Overall though the staff was friendly and helpful. COVID has caused the issues I encountered not the company.

I was traveling for Business over a holiday weekend and Chad L was by far the most professional and efficient worker I’ve ever seen. He was warped on a Friday holiday weekend with over 20 customers in line. I thought there was no way that this multi million dollar company would have him working by himself on a weekend like this. Nonetheless, I watched as he treated every customer as if they were his own family member. Customers were upset and irate as they were in a rush for the weekend but he made it all better! He is what customer service is all about. Not only should he be praised and given a raise by National Car Rental but He’s is a model example of how hard people work even when they are put in the most unfair/unwanting situations. God bless you!!!!! This man should be appreciated at the highest level. National you have a great employee. Treat him right or someone else will.

The guy with the beanie and bad attitude is a real lousy employee you should either have re-trained or let go of, he’s an all-around liar and is not trying to help any customers at all. I have always had great experience with the black gentleman working there but this other guy is really something else. Went in today to try and rent a specific vehicle and was lied to and said you had no SUVs when I told him I had two reservations he automatically had one SUV but only one even though I had two reservations? Trying to actually buy a vehicle from you people but wanted to rent one to see how it was before I purchasedI think I’ll look into something somewhere else now after this bad experience.

I do not rent cars very often. National car rental at the Denver Airport was quick and simple. As a member of the Emerald Club (free and easy to join), we were able to bypass the counter at the airport and went directly to a waiting shuttle bus. Within 10 minutes, we were walking directly from the shuttle bus to the Emerald aisle where we chose a Nissan Rogue. (We paid for a mid size and were able to choose any vehicle in the Emerald aisle with our Emerald Club membership.)Returning the vehicle was just as simple. We prepaid for gas when we booked with National, so we returned our vehicle close to empty and didnt have to worry about finding a gas station close to drop off. After pulling into the return lot, we were guided to the National return area (Enterprise and National share the same lot), and our parking spot. An Enterprise employee met us as we parked to print out an immediate receipt and then directed us to the correct shuttle (two shuttles, east and west, depending on your airline. This also speeds up return, less stops.) The shuttle driver also helped us remove our luggage and gave us directions to our gate when he dropped us off. While waiting for our flight, I received an email receipt as well.Unbelievably easy. Courteous, helpful employees. Will only use National from now on.

This was a terrible experience. I waited more than 2 hours to get a car. Arrived around 7:30 PM and there was one person at the counter supporting three rental companies. There were ~20 people waiting for vehicles. After I waited to be served I learned there were no vehicles. I waited outside in near zero degree weather while it was snowing for a vehicle to be prepared and driven to the airport.

No, not this location again. This review is all about this location, not all of National which I consider to be more like a 5. Although the staff here are typically very friendly, this is my least favorite location of a dozen I frequent. I rent from National a lot at many locations and have earned Executive Elite status. This location doesnt offer Idle service. I have often been given cars well below what you would find available on the Executive Isle of other locations that offer that. This is getting better recently, though. My biggest concern is that I have had to call the larger National twice to fix very sloppy problems. The first was when the guy at the counter accepted my keys at return, thanked me, and then didnt log the return. I was the only customer there at the time. I was charged for an extra day when someone came into work the next morning. This past weekend, they checked out my reservation to someone else under my name hours before the reservations scheduled pickup time (dont these guys pay attention to drivers licences?). I had actually canceled the reservation with the automated voice system between when it was apparently checked out and before the reservation start. I was surprised to later be emailed a receipt for a car used by some freeloader. I had to call the central number for National both times to get this fixed. It took time I shouldnt have had to spend, but they did a great job. They deserve credit for fixing COSs messes. Both times I said I would appreciate a call by the local manager. Still waiting...I remain loyal to the company as a whole, but wish I didnt have to deal with this location so much.

I have been a National Rental car customer for over 15 years and have usually had nothing but great service, until I flew into Salt Lake City, Utah. I had made reservations online for an Emerald Isle intermediate size car rental. Whelp first thing Emerald Isle does not exist in Utah. The next thing I found out you do not go get into your car and drive out. You have to go to a National Car Rental kiosk in the bottom of the out door open parking garage. Then they sign you a car, no trucks or SUVs, only small cars because I was told that the AWD and 4x4 vehicles are premium cars since this is a ski destination. I took my toyota corolla and left very dissatisfied with the rude attendant and his snotty demeanor. I will never use National Rental Car again in the state of Utah.

I find it extremely frustrating that National will not guarantee 4wd when you rent an SUV. I rented two SUVs form the Colorado Springs airport and when I arrived the didn’t have the vehicles I reserved (only one SUV) and the SUV was front wheel drive. The other car was an AWD sedan. Driving up to our second home near Breckinridge we got stuck on a side street with SUV. After an hour on the phone the next day I finally was able to get them to agree to exchange it for a 4WD if I would drive back to exchange it.

Great service by super friendly staff! Not pushy about extra insurance, onsite gas, etc. which means a lot when you are zoned out and cranky after 6+ hours of being stuffed in small metal tubes with dozens of strangers and end up hundreds of miles from home!! Will definitely use this rental agency again at this location. Couldnt ask for a better rental experience!

071317 - UPDATE - National went above and beyond the following day by having someone from Enterprise pick me up at my destination and put me in a rental car at no charge for my inconvenience and reimbursed me for the taxi I had to take. How quickly a company can make something right. I took this review from 1 star to 5...071217 - My flight arrived to the Colorado Springs airport at 12:30am after a 20 hour day full of delays and flight cancellations to find out National decided to go home. Pueblo was my final destination which left my high and dry. I not only included my flight number on the reservation but also called to confirm someone would wait for me. I had to take a taxi from Colorado Springs to Pueblo and have no idea how they are going to get a car to me and reimburse me for the taxi and my trouble.

One way rental from Colorado springs Airport to Denver IAP. They did not disclose electronic toll pass- I specifically asked if there were any other outside charges or concerns I need to made aware of prior to dropping the vehicle off at the airport. They stated that all charges were identified on my contract. Three weeks after my car rental usage, I had a charge process for Road toll fees on Denvers E470 highway. The car rental agency did not disclose the toll pass program or any convenience charges associated with it. In addition to being charged toll fees, National charged me a $4 convenience fee. A convenience that I was not made aware of and not given the opportunity to avoid Electronic Toll roads. At the end of the day, sure, I ended up using the toll road at the last minute, and was prepared to pay cash however, to be slapped with a convenience fee on top of all of that reaffirms to me that a shady practice exists in so much that they received an additional $4 from me and any other passenger that did one-way rentals to Denver IAP. National Car rental will no longer be used for my leisure travel nor will my company endorse any of their car rental franchises.

Had to rent for trip to Florida, pickup was a breeze told her my insurance covered it didnt need to buy extra, didnt need any GPS got a phone, radio just get the local stuff, inexpensive no credit check I use my debit slash credit it was awesome drop off was a breeze made sure it was tidy, they gave me a discount for dropping it off by the airport instead of the hotel awesome service

Fraud! Rent here if you want to be overcharged!I rented for 4 days and returned on time. They were not open at that time. Dropped the key in the key box and wrote on a notebook. The next day I found they charged me for a week and fuel! I refueled the gas at the closest gas station which is 3 miles away from the airport.Took me a long time to find a way to call National customer service. Called them; they created a ticket, and said the manager of this location would call me back in 3-5 business days. It has been almost 2 weeks, and stay nothing. Called National customer service again; waited for 30 minutes, and somebody said customer service does not work during weekends, and somebody will call me. So tired of these! The customer service lady also said this location is not owned by National (a franchise location?) - probably thats also why National cannot control this location and the source of fraud and/ or improper operating procedures. Please stay away!

Car was not clean in side. Car fuel was only at 3/4 tank and I paid for the fuel option. Was also charged for a additional day when I told them that I will be returning the car at the same time I will pick it up

I like national i use them a lot but awful reservation system. Made a reservation online and got a confirmation email. when i got to the airport I was told they have no vehicles. What is the point of a reservation if it doesnt reserve anything?
