Ive been a business and personal client for over 10 years. Shafer Group does a consistently good job in the entire process of tax strategy, compliance and return accuracy.There were many times where I saved more money in tax liability by taking their planning and execution advice than I paid them in fees for their services.Ive always felt like we fully complied with all the tax rules, and that all returns were correct, but that we also didnt miss anything that was helpful either immediately or in future years.Ive used Top Ten accounting firms in the past. My old friend and CPA retired, I needed a new tax preparer. Researching this group I found their Tax Manager, Kathleen Geist, was an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. They have to meet exacting criteria and perform annual update training. I contacted her and requested assistance. She was very kind and welcoming. Her staff handled the details of collecting my data and preparing the preliminary return efficiently, mine is moderately complex. Kathleen then went over it, and suggested a perfectly legal deduction that I did not know about. It saved enough to more than pay for my tax return preparation.I was treated with courtesy and efficiency throughout this encounter. I have been receiving exceptional service from the Shafer group since 1995 when Greg was still working from his home office.I was introduced by a colleague when i complained that after using turbo tax I would have to pay that year. I resisted because Turbo tax “walks you thru” and it had to be right?He said: see Greg Shafer. If you do not get better results than turbo tax I will pay his service fee for you.I received money back instead of paying that year, because I had a loss that year that was not part of the questions asked in turbo tax.I am not saying Turbo tax is bad. I am saying if you are not filing EZ or you need advice on a small business and how to use the laws in your favor... turbo tax may fall short?So do yourself a favor and see greg. Use the Shafer group not only for tax season, but hire them to advise you before you start that business. Best hour you will ever pay for.
