I truly wish we had more days to spend at this place. It truly was the best stay of our trip. The people and the accommodations were awesome. Do not expect a holiday inn. This is log cabin life at its best, but it is just that. Old, well kept, and comfortable cabins in a beautiful forest with creek and river sounds. I will be back..

We spent a week at Blackwater Creek Ranch, and it was one of the best vacations we have planned. The owners and staff were all amazing. We had a great outdoor and wilderness experience as we rode horses daily in the Shoshone National Forest. Part of our weekly stay included a day trip into Yellowstone National Park. The owner drove us around the park and stopped at all the main attractions while looping around the central part of the park. He was an excellent guide. The weekly stay also included a trip into Cody to visit the Buffalo Bill Center, downtown area, Old Town Trail, Buffalo Bill Dam, and Cody Rodeo Stampede. I would encourage anyone who likes the outdoors and sightseeing to check out Blackwater Creek Ranch!

My husband booked a trip to Yellowstone for us and that is how he came upon this place. It was very conveniently located to the east entrance of Yellowstone Park. It was also fairly close to downtown Cody, Wyoming. When we first got there I was a little taken aback at how rustic it was but it turned out to be a perfect place to stay for us. We were only there at night, as we spent most of our time in the park. My only complaint would be that the shower was a little too rustic, for me, but more importantly I couldnt plug in a hair dryer because the plugs were a little outdated ( update, we went back and the dryer worked fine). Luckily I had a hat so I could go without washing my hair. I would highly recommend any meal that you can get at the lodge. We only had breakfast on two occasions but it was phenomenal. The staff is very helpful and willing to provide anything they can. They all work very hard and have very long days. The grounds are beautiful and there is a stream that runs along the ranch property. It snowed while we were there but the room was always nice and warm. They do not allow food in the cabins but you can eat it in the lodge. They also have a bar in the lodge. Most of the people that were staying there came to ride horses but we did not so I cant comment on that. Everyone seemed very happy that had been out riding though. (Update: we rode horses on the next visit and it was so amazing).

My family stayed here in August for a Yellowstone vacation. We were there for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. From the moment we arrived the service and friendliness was amazing. They all went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We spent many of our days in Yellowstone and our nights at the ranch. The location is beautiful and peaceful. It is also a perfect location for those wanting to visit Yellowstone but not stay in the park.My daughter always dreamed of staying at a horse ranch when she was little. She has also been obsessed with Yellowstone since a young age. This vacation was a dream vacation for her and it did not disappoint. Immediately upon arrival our host told my daughter she could go visit the horses anytime in the corral. My teenager seemed to change back to a little kid again hearing that. She spent every morning and every evening visiting the horses, the wranglers never minded at all and one of them even stood with her one evening and told her all the horses names. They seem to really love their horses and to take very good care of them. My daughter loved this ranch so much she has been saying this is where she wants to go for our mom and daughter graduation trip after her senior year before she heads off to college. In the evenings there is a peaceful fire always lit, perfect to go sit and relax by after a long day of driving through Yellowstone. The meals were amazing. We had both breakfast and dinners at the ranch and was never disappointed and never went away hungry, they made sure of that. The cabins were cozy. I know some people may think they were old and outdated but we thought they were perfect for the setting we were in. Anything else would have taken away from the cabin in the mountains experience. We absolutely loved it at Blackwater Creek Ranch and plan to go back again as soon as we are able. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for nice, peaceful mountain getaway.

We stayed for a week at Blackwater Creek Ranch and absolutely loved it. The cabins are rustic, clean, and comfy. All of the staff were friendly and made you feel like a part of the family. The chef would come out and socialize with guests, the servers would chat at the tables, the wranglers and cleaning crew were social, and the owners constantly made sure everything was going well. They all worked together like family and made you feel like you belonged there. We were surprised with the number of horse rides we got to experience, and all of the events planned were fun. The owner drove us into Yellowstone and was knowledgeable about so much. He was an excellent guide and photographer. We all agreed this was one of the best trips. If you are considering a trip out West and want to see Yellowstone, definitely consider the ranch! It’s not the Hilton—so don’t expect high class and glamor—but it is comfy, welcoming, and one of the greatest nature experiences!

You won’t find a better place to stay. The breakfast and dinner that is served is better than anything you can get in Cody. The owners are unbelievably nice and treat everyone just like family. Plus, you don’t even have to go into Yellowstone to have breathtaking views like there are around your cabin

Probably the nicest, most accommodating people we’ve ever run into. The owners are very authentic, honest people who truly care that you have an enjoyable stay. Their seasonal staff cares just as much, while they are experiencing this beautiful part of the country from all over the US. Food is excellent, dine with them as often as possible. Cabins are a truly authentic log cabin experience that cannot be beat. Great people, positive vibes, positive experience.

Very very very cute ranch. It is about 30-45 mins outside of the east entrance of Yellowstone. A little hard to see the board at night because it is black. You turn in and there is a Creek right there. The ranch is on the left and a trail on the right. We got there around 10 pm at night and could not find the main cabin. The owner, however, was up in her cabin and saw us come and graciously directed us to our cabin. Extremely cute cabin. We had chose the one with a double bed and two single beds - sitting bull. Thats two separate rooms which connect through the bathroom. Its all wooden so things creak. But totally loved it!! We stayed for 2 nights and requested a campfire the second night and they started one for us. We bought the smores. It is very homely, which I loved. A lot of the people staying there seem to come here very often. I could not distinguish between customers and family! They offer breakfast for 10.95 per person. Its is very filling. Loved the hash browns and the eggs. We didnt take the horse rides and fishing trips they offer, but may be worth a shot. Good place to stay at if you are coming from Cody. Not much to do in east Yellowstone so if you want to go to the main park, this is not the best accommodation option.

I don’t understand how this place received any positive feedback. We reserved a cabin for our honeymoon because it was reasonably priced and there were many good reviews. We were showed to our cabin and I was highly disappointed. The carpets were stained and the place smelled musty. The bathroom wasn’t near as clean as it should have been. We checked the bed, for bugs and didn’t see any. Which made me feel a little better about the place. I went in to check the towels. I pulled the first one off when a tiny bug jumped off the towel. So I grabbed all the towels, to see what kind of bug it was and if it was just that one towel. About 15 bugs jumped off, that looked like bed bugs. One bug stayed on the towel and we were able to get videos and photos. We went and told the owner. He came and looked at the towels, but at this point all the bugs had jumped on the floor. We tried to show him the video and pictures but he didn’t seem interested in seeing these. He offered to have his staff clean another cabin for us to stay until they cleaned ours. But if they can’t clean the one cabin we booked, let alone their towels, then I am not confident their other cabins are clean. The owner was rude when I told him I refused to stay there. He said we’d have to come back another day to see his wife to discuss a refund. This was after he told us when we first arrived she would be back at 3pm and we could see her then to pay the remainder of our balance for our cabin. So, we went back the next day. His wife was even more rude! She may as well called us lairs to our face. She told us they checked the room and found nothing but if we insisted on not staying she would refund us our money but she couldn’t do it until that evening. It took 4 days but we finally got 90% of our money back. I don’t like to complain and I have never refused to stay at a place until now. I refuse to be eaten up by bed bugs and spend thousands of dollars when I get back home from staying at a cabin with bed bugs just because it’s a little cheaper.

I found the staff and wranglers to be cream of the earth.top notch people. They had nothing but care and safety of their guests in mind.I highly recommend their establishment to anyone at any skill level as they are careful to match horses to the riders ability.Sturdy but gentle mounts.Dont miss their breakfast lunch and dinners with yeast rolls that are allowed to fully rise, not doughy.

I stayed there one night and I found the accomodations decent. I found some hair between the sheets, not sure if it was because they werent changed or because they got there after washing. All you can eat breakfast is ok, nothing special. Make sure you fill your water bottles when you leave, the water was very good.
