Rafael (Ralph) Lucas, the owner of Lucas & Son Flooring, was referred to me to refinish the hardwood floors in my Living Room, Hall and 3 bedrooms. He was very prompt and friendly when he came for the estimate, quoted me a reasonable price and had some good references so I hired him.As the work was being completed, it all seemed fine. I walked thru the rooms after most of the sanding was completed the first day to make sure all the rooms and closets were being refinished, but once they started applying the new stain and poly, I stayed completely off the floors until the last coat of poly was completely dry. I wanted to be extra cautious about leaving any type of marks on the new floor, but that was a big mistake and an even bigger mistake was paying him in full just after he applied the last coat of poly, before I had a chance to inspect the work. When I did walk around that night, I found stain all over my newly painted baseboard molding in the master bedroom, stain marks on my newly painted doors and in one bedroom, there was a stain hand print and stain splattered on the walls. The next day as I looked around in better light, I found gouges in the hallway from the sanding work, rough spots along the edges in some rooms, what appear to be lap marks in one bedroom and streaks all over the floors, most visibly in the living room and hallway. I shared some pics with professionals who stated it looked like a shoddy DIY job and also had a few folks over who had their floors refinished by other contractors; they all agreed that the workmanship was terrible and unacceptable.I called Rafael several times, sent him numerous texts and an email over the course of a week, but he has been unresponsive. I was simply asking that he come back to see the work and re-mediate the areas where I had issues but its clear by now that he has no intention of fixing anything.I have many sample pics of his work to support my 1 star review.Update: Ralph finally returned my call and returned to assess the job. He stated that the entire floor needed to be completely re-done; sanded, stained, clear coat. Since he did such a poor job the first time, I had no interest in having him do the job again so he provided a 100% refund.
