I went to Golds Gym in July and explained that I wanted to become a member, but I might have to move. I explained that the timing of it was up in the air, ranging from a week later or three years later! The Assistant Manager (Audrie) said that she will put a note next to my account, and whenever I have to move, they will work with me to cancel my membership. She said she spoke with the Manager (Jeremy) and he agreed to make an exception and let me cancel when I had to move. Under those conditions, I became a member. I accepted a new job in Massachusetts in late July. I called Golds gym immediately, letting them know that I will be moving. They just passed me to another, and none of them gave me an answer as to who to call to cancel my membership.Eventually, on Sep 9th, someone at Golds Gym gave me the phone number of the 3rd party company that handles their membership cancelations and billing. When I called, the lady directed me to a web portal to submit my cancelation request. I did that immediately and received a confirmation on Sep 9th. It took until Sep 22nd for them to review my cancelation request. Something that I had been calling for since early August finally got through on Sep 22nd. So that they can conveniently charge me for two more months!!I must say that the day I went there to possibly become a member, the Assistant Manager told me we wont make you pay for something you are not able to use. These were her exact words!I found their business model deceitful and predatory. They intentionally held back the 3rd party companys phone number from me so that they can drag me around for a month or two. It is just not respectable and decent.Please see screenshots. I also have my conversations with their staff when I called every week and no one had the decency to let me know whom I needed to contact for canceling my membership.Do yourself a favor and go to Fike Recreation Center or Douthit Hills Fitness Center. It is much cheaper and has NO HIDDEN FEES ($345 for the entire year for non-Clemson affiliates). It also has much better equipment than Golds gym, has a pool, and incredibly friendly and professional staff—which I can say Golds gym absolutely lacks!

Over crowded. Too many people on their phones in groups hogging equipment. There is constantly something broken and never any real improvements. Not a good atmosphere to seriously train hard in.

My wife and I signed up for a membership in late 2019/early 2020. The facilities seemed fine, although there was one section of the gym that seemed perpetually unfinished. I only attended the gym 4 times and my wife did not even attend once before the pandemic hit. My wife, being a hospital nurse working with Covid positive patients, was not ever able to attend the the gym- nor should she have attended for the safety of others at the gym. I, myself, did not feel safe attending the gym. They gave a few weeks of payment forgiveness during the business shutdown, but afterwards would not let us cancel our membership during- again- a global pandemic. Say what you will, I will not feel safe attending a gym during a global pandemic.We have tried to cancel our membership multiple times but- despite the pandemic- Golds Gym will not allow us to cancel our gym membership. We even had a lawyer contact the gym to notify them of our intention to leave the gym. Now, we are constantly being hounded to pay our membership dues even though I have only attended the gym 4 times and my wife has attended 0 times.I do not recommend joining this gym. If you join and have any concerns for your safety, you will not be allowed to cancel your membership. At this point- even if it were deemed safe- I have been so disappointed in and offended by this business and its handlings that I would never return.I suggest you go on a run outside instead of joining this gym. A run outside is safe and there is no binding contract.

Love the staff. They are practicing social distancing and have sanitizer conviently located. Would like to see more of the younger crowd practicing better but it is difficult in a gym environment. Wear your mask if you are at risk.

Accessible to members 24/7 even on holidays. The staff are friendly and the environment is clean. Plenty of equipment for all different levels of fitness as well. The contract isnt bad and the monthly rate is great. 30/month for a 2 year deal but if you move 25 miles outside the area you can void it.

When considering the 1 dollar month membership also know there is a 2 year contract they forgot to mention. And that the manager Rob was very rude when trying to discuss the fact that we were not informed on the 2 year contract. Horrible service horrible system. They try to draw broke college kids in with a 1 dollar membership to sign them up for a 2 year contract they most likely can’t afford. I would not recommend this gym to anyone. There is a reason they have a 2.5 yelp rating and that’s not by having good customer service. Hope this was helpful!

Bogus charges: I called in late March to postpone my membership due to the pandemic. Joel there Not a problem, just call us back when you want to reinstate your membership. ... Now lookit: I had been a member for over 20 years, yet these Ganefs took this as an opportunity to, a month later charge me 3 (THREE) MONTHS FEE. Totally surreptitious, totally undisclosed, totally bogus. Avoid this establishment at all costs.

Go here every day, people here are nice and helpful. Got screwed into a contract by the owner. Be careful when signing up for things.

They advertise a trial pass on their website. So I went ahead and tried to use it. But the person at the front desk didn’t let me in, saying that because the other gym (Fike) is closed this week, they don’t accept the trial pass. Excellent marketing!!!

I have been a member here for almost two years and I have never had a bad experience. Even when it is crowded there is enough equipment for everyone to share the space. The gym is always clean, the equipment well taken care of and the staff is excellent! Highly recommend joining!

Great place! Nice equipment and very clean. The clientele is mostly college students. Its busiest hours are between 4 and 8 pm. Oh, and the staff is really friendly.

Good equipment and plenty of it. The machines, benches. and weights are all dirty, though, especially the cardio machines. Make sure you bring your own music, because you’ll hear the same playlist for 4 years

This gym is great because it has all the things you look for in a nice gym. It has machines for nearly all muscle groups, and free weights to use in your workout. The facilities are clean with a nice staff that are very welcoming. They have a cardio cinema which is a pretty cool alternative way to work out. You can get a run in while watching the movie being played. Overall great gym

I joined Golds Gym in 2009 after having back surgery. I was very nervous because I was a 25 year Jassercise nut and knew nothing about weights and machines, plus I thought a gym would be just a bunch of body builders. It was such a relief to find people of all ages, levels of fitness, and goals. Sure, there are people who do competition, but there are also ordinary folks who just want to get in shape, lose weight, etc. The entire staff is welcoming and helpful. All the clients are friendly, and Ive made a lot of good gym friends there. The gym is very clean and there is never a wait for a machine because there is a LOT of equipment. They are constantly updating the facilities. My trainer, Diane Moreno, is fabulous! I would encourage anyone looking for a gym home to join Golds Gym Clemson...you wont be disappointed!

This is a predatory gym. They entice kids into contracts they know nothing about. Then when they attempt to cancel the contract the staff will tell you that you can’t. There is no reason a gym membership should not be allowed to be canceled and no reason that a gym membership should go on your credit score.

Great gym! They have all the equipment you need, there is plenty of space, and the staff are friendly and answer any questions I have about topics like nutrition or specific lifts. The manager even let me borrow his personal lifting straps one day when I forgot mine. There are showers and lockers in the restroom. Ive been attending 3-5 days/week for about 2 years and am completely satisfied. My wife even got a membership as well. The only thing they need now is a pool!

Golds Gym is the best gym in the area. Ive been a member here for almost six years and have loved it. The childcare is great and the staff is so friendly. Definitely recommend joining!

Many reviews say this gym is a clean place with great equipment which is not the case. The staff is GREAT! But this is not a clean gym and the equipment is 50/50. What works on one machine probably won’t on the next one.I’m here everyday and early morning gym comers don’t have the cleaning stuff for the equipment. There wasn’t TP in the bathroom this morning which initiated this review.The water fountain has been broke since I’ve been here. Many of the cable attachments are sketchy at best. The cardio machines are hit and miss with hand controls or heart rate monitors. I’m just saying $300 a year buys me a lot of mediocre gym time. Not what I expect when I think Gold’s Gym.

Had a very poor experience today and would love to talk to a Costumer service representative or the actual owner of the golds gym in clemson. I asked the manager if there was someone else I could talk to and he said no. I can not find a number that does anything but lead me back to the number I already have for the gym. Extremely disappointed cause Im just going to be talked down to again if I try to get my situation handled.

This gym is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone in the Clemson area and the ones that are visiting. Spacious and has everything you need for a good workout!!!

This gym has a great area for women only to work out. I also love the cardio cinema. It makes cardio more enjoyable when you can watch a movie too.

People worry this gym doesnt have an easy to use portable heart protection Automatic External Defibrillator(AED) on hand like many other gyms and Ys do. CPR alone cant jump start a stopped heart so an AED could be a matter of life or death. Otherwise, it seems to be a satisfactory gym. Update: Its almost 2020 and its worrisome that Golds Gym near Clemson, SC apparently still doesnt have a portable AED despite the risks.

This gym is one of the best that i have been a member to because everyone is friendly there. Not only that but the equipment suits my needs perfectly. I hate running on the treadmill but they have a cardio cinema so that you can run while watching a movie at the same time. It actually pushes me to get my cardio in while i am there. The gym is not that huge but i have never had to wait for a machine which i absolutely hate doing. There are also no (as planet fitness would call it) lunks which is good for people who might be self conscious and just want to get in shape in peace. I would definitely recommend this gym to everyone and give it a 10/10.
