Took my 1962 impala to get the carburetor accelerator pump replace and the carburetor cleaned because it wasn’t running quite right. they told me that they put some fuel additive in it and that it didn’t need any other work to the carburetor but it needed a condenser and points me knowing that a condenser only cost around $13 in the high end and points are usually around the same. My bill ended up being $429 they charged me a 300% markup on the parts and $169 dollars in labor. I did not make it a block away before my car stopped running because the accelerator pump needs replaced and the carburetor needs cleaned and to top it off the broke a part of my interior and removed the covers from the emergency brake. Plain and simple they seen the nice car and took advantage of what they thought to be a easy mark.

Took in my Taurus.They finished at the time promised and it ended up costing less than the original quote.Plus, I got a free Lyft home to wait...and one to pick it up.Nice.Place is clean and well kept. Feels like a hospital for cars.Price seemed more than reasonable for the work done.

When you come here ask for Ryan he is very knowledgeable and is willing to get down to the details of the work that will be done and why they charge what they do. He will talk to you at your level of knowledge and help you to fully understand what they will be doing and he earned the three stars! If hes not the manager he should be one!They also offer financing options if the cost of the service is a little too rich. And they always go over the pricing options based on the quality of the product you want. Their facility has wifi and they offer free water and soda while you wait!There is another man there who is the complete opposite of Ryan.... and he is the reason for losing a star. He doesnt have very good customer service skills and made me feel like he was talking down to me and pressuring me to get the service done. And this is based off of two separate occasions that I have come here

Absolutely incredible. They were fast on fixing my car and didnt charge me a dime more than what I needed. They were very communicative and made sure my car was in good shape. now my baby is running amazingly and I couldnt be happier. if youre looking for a new mechanic, come here.

My choice when need to make sure what going on with vehicle. Wont do you wrong. Had alignment done at dealership as part of a warranty job had done. Ended up with something sounding loose. Dealership said something totally different. Bottom line- I trust Steves.

Nice repair shop. They listened to what I had to say. They thoroughly checked out my truck, let me fix my immediate problem and gave me solutions to fix some minor problems in the future. They were quick and fair in their prices and they stuck with the price I was quoted before they started.

When Steve’s first opened in clearfield Utah, my husband and I loved it!! Steve’s cared about helping us and giving a great price. Now it’s all changed!! Steve’s charges for everything, even the smallest fixes. My husband needed his trunk latch fixed, the mechanic said 30 to 45 min. tops. When my husband arrived he was quoted 600.00 dollars. Well we bought the part from Dodge ourselves 200.00 plus another mechanic company is installing it for 65.00. Wow talk about mark up for Steve’s. Not sure if it’s 300.00 per hour now for labor. My son was also quoted over 300.00 to have his muffler fixed, master muffler did it for 65.00. Sad that the customer is no longer important to Steve’s. Also no more oil change package at a decent price. 59.95 for an oil change. Who can afford those prices. Please do your homework when something goes wrong with your vehicle, you could end up in bankruptcy if you choose Steve’s automotive specialist in clearfield!!

2 days to diagnose easy electrical issue. Spent about 3 hours charged over$300. Told me my battery was ho lij ding a charger and was missing 1 rear light bulb. Faltered every start for 24 hours, took to Autozone whose battery meter showed bad battery. Replaced had them check rear bulbs- none out! Runs great now for over a week. Waste of time and money at Steves...

Went in to get my rear brake pads changed, they didnt call me when it was done and they also then replaced several other parts along with that without telling me so it ran up my bill to six times the amount it shouldve been. Again they never notified me about these quality parts they were putting in. I also cross checked the price of everything they did with a different trusted shop in another city and it was double the trusted shop price. If you want to get robbed blind of hundreds of dollars then by all means go here.

Broke down after closing while on a road trip. They started on it immediately the next morning, found two major mechanical issues and had them both fixed by closing. Plus, good, professional, friendly communication the whole way through. Thank you for your skills and service!

Just wanted you all to be aware of Steves Automotive specialists in clearfield and the AWFUL Service we recieved. A few weeks ago we brought our Van over to Steves automotive as we usually use they use them for oil changes, tires and other things that we needed to have done with not only mine and Pauls car but the kids cars also. When we brought in our van we had the check engine light going on and off and 2 service codes come up for crankshaft sensor needs replaced. When we brought it to Steves the Mexhanic said he knew exactly what the problem was and that he could fix it. After them having it for over a week to get the part in and paying a little over $730 just for us to drive it out of their parking lot when the check engine light came back on. Then when we brang it in the first time we had no issues with any gas smell until after the initial fixing of the car. After speaking with them again and bringing in our Van again to have them look at it the mechanic stated it needs a new computer and that what he thought was the problem must not have been and that is over $1800. Then when we bring up the gas smell it in we had no issues with any gas smell until he told us that thats a separate issue and that would cost us Over $700. We had told him that he said the 1st time that he had the problem fixed which in fact it was not. Then hes adding all these other things and now that cost is way more than what my van is worth. Just wanted everyone to be aware that we Love to support local small businesses but will not be supporting them anymore. They are not trustworthy at all and Try to take advantage of people who do not have much mechanical knowledge. We also reported to the Better Business Bureau and left a review for them on their website

Twice in the last three weeks they have bent me over. Once when my boys were going on a trip and I took it in for repair. And today as the family was getting ready for a trip. Their is no commuinication. I was supposed to pick up my truck today and they have known since yesterday they wouldnt get the work done. No communication. They also seem incapable of listening to a customer or their needs. It also appears they arent capable of doing a simple shop that three other shops told me would be no big deal. All it sounds like is that they want to do a repair a certain way becasue it is easier for them and more money for them. Not becasue it is the right thing to do for the cusomer. In the future I will just take my vehicles to shops I know I can rely on.

When they were looking to see what needed to be fixed on my car, they did a thorough inspection. They then talked to me about anything that needed fixing. They didnt make me feel stupid when I asked questions and did not try to pull the wool over my eyes to get more money out of me. They were completely honest with me. Definitely coming back to them. :)

CROOKED THEIVES. Wanted $770+ for a repair that a shop down the road did for $185. Yes, tried to overcharge me $585 for a $185 repair. Luckily I asked my dad (a mechanic out of state) and he said thats ludicrous theyre trying to rip you off. After I told them a shop down the road would do it for a fraction of that e doubled down and offered to do addition work for $1100.. which included parts my dad just replaced and are perfectly fine. Yeah, dont give them your credit card.Funny how their reply tried to focus on they wanted to do more than a 25% partial repair. A) that was the only thing wrong so its a 100% repair. They didnt bother looking at the other parts or they would have noticed they were practically new. B) they ignore the fact that they offered to do that 25% repair for the $770. That portion of the repair costs me $185 at the reputable axis driveline in Bountiful. Do the math, it doesnt add up. They trying to rip off uneducated customers.

I had a fantastic experience with this auto shop. Not only was everyone really kind and informative but also honest and willing to work with my needs. There was a lot wrong with my car that they were able to diagnose and help me plan whats important now that I should do first anf what stuff I can financially work towards to fix later. It was easy and I am happy with the work done. Also they sent me a nice card in the mail, thats pretty unique and much appreciated!

Excellent mechanics. Were able to find my cylinder misfire problem on my 96 Mitsubishi 3000gt and fix it. Great mechanics and great customer service. All the other auto mechanics Ive gone to in the past are fired. The synthetic oil in my car really made the engine smooth.

Theres obviously a big majority of mechanics that try to take advantage of people who dont know about cars but these guys take the cake! Went there for an oil change and they called me with a whole list of problems my car had. Told me I need a whole new set of tires when I got them very recently. To top it all off when we went to pay they tried to charge me $30 extra. Embarassing. Do better.

They tried to charge me and my wife for an emissions when our car wasn’t due for one. I had to explain to the staff that the vehicle wasn’t ready for an emissions. They did call me and say I could come get a free oil change but no thanks. They tried to charge me for something I didn’t need once already, won’t happen again.

The service was great. Another shop quotes a very expensive service and I took it to Steves automotive as a second opinion and they were able to get to the root of the problem and save me over a thousand dollars. Big thanks to Steves Automotive!

This is the second review for these guys. Randy and Andy are the best. Took in my 06 Lexus IS 350 and they were always letting me know what is going on and what they recommend and working through the different options with me. When I suggested something to the mechanics they didnt scoff or mock me but agreed. They are not the cheapest but they dont have to be because they get the job done quick and done right the First Time. Highly recommend. Will be back next month for an oil change on my van.

They are very thorough, and care about your needs, they dont force services on you and check before doing anything. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because an oil change shouldnt take 4 hours. I would have given 3 stars but at least they gave us a $45 coupon!I made an appointment and it still took 4 hours just for an oil change...

I have always appreciated the service and personal care that I get when I take my car in to Steves Automotive Specialists in Clearfield. They have always gone above and beyond to help me and make sure my car is taken care of and that I have transportation to get where I need to be when my car is in their shop. They also work with me on repairs within my budget to keep my car going. Everybody there treats you like youre family.

I have been to this shop a few times to get my car worked on and they found a problem that even a big company name missed completely. They have earned my trust and will come to them for everything I need.

My moms car a 2000 Honda Accord was running like a million bucks then went to this shop to get a oil change and had them check the fluids while they were at it. They told her the transmission needed to be replaced and it was leaking like crazy keep in mind it never had it leaked before.. She looked underneath the car and the mechanic said “you won’t see the leaking fluid”Quoted her 4000$ to fix it., the check engine light also came on a mile down the road..when it never had that issue before she took it there. it’s just sad that there are crooks out there like this that would take advantage of someone who don’t know anything about cars.. long story short we took it to a different shop and the transmission is fine so I wouldn’t recommend the Clearfield location go else where so you don’t fall victim to these crooks!

In the past we had a garage we took our cars to for service for over 15 years and always great personable service. Unfortunately, the owner died of cancer and his business closed. Because of it we were in a situation where we need to find a automotive repair shop to service our vehicles. We went to Steve’s automotive specialist because of the high praise their customers give them. We had to see for ourselves if our experience dealing with them would be personable and fair. I have met and spoke several times with Andy who is over the service center. He does his best to understand our needs and determine what repairs are needed and if those repairs would be within our budget. He and his crew will go over the recommend services that are needed and explain why it needs and how it would keep your vehicle running reliably for many years to come. He also provided us with a list of recommended services that should be done on our vehicle in order of importance along with the prices. Andy has proven that taking care of his customers is his number one priority and if we have any issues or concerns, he will listen and is willing to work with us and take appropriate action if necessary We highly recommend checking them out when you vehicle are need of attention.

They will try to wring you out if every dollar they can. asked for an estimate and they wanted to charge 8 times that amount.

My daughter drives a 2007 VW Jetta that we bought for her about 2 years ago, her first car. Shes a good driver and takes pretty good care of Fernando her name for her car. About a month ago she started mentioning that her car was having a hard time shifting gears so I suggested, after reading the Google reviews that we take it to Steves Auto to have them check out the transmission for us.I had never been to Steves Auto before and after having a less than pleasant experience with other auto shops in the area we decided to give someone new a try. We dropped the car off with Randy and within 2 hours he had diagnosed the issue and called me back to let me know what the options were for fixing ol Fernando. I wasnt charged for the diagnostic work done for the transmission or for the time that Randy took researching our options. The bottom line is that we were treated better at Steves Auto than just about any other shop Ive been in, including the dealership where Ive bought multiple new cars. Although Fernandos time has come and hell be heading off into the horizon well definitely be bringing our other vehicles back to Steves Auto. One of the best experiences Ive had in years.

Very honest about the repairs and cost of repair compared to other shops like ShadeTree which wanted 3x what this place wanted. Still pricy though.

We just moved to Utah and my car started acting up so we had found them which they ended up being amazing. Randy was our advisor and very helpful with everything. He made sure to take photo of everything and was very thorough with what needed to be fixed called with updates he was pretty awesome. Not once did he or any of their staff force us to do anything. They simply helped us and guided us. Brittani who is the receptionist is awesome. She made sure I didn’t stress and helped entertained my one year-old. She is super sweet. Ive heard nothing but good things about this place.So when I had an issue that I couldnt fix I decided to give them a try.Now I tend to try and do things on my own but when I cant I want to know that the folks Im taking my vehicle to are going to do right by me.They talked to me to get a good idea if the problem I was having. They fixed the issue and I couldnt if been more happy.Ive always said that finding a good mechanic is like having a good family doctor. Once youve find one that you trust and know is looking out for you, you dont go anywhere else.

Unfortunately, I have to change this review in light of new evidence.While their price was reasonable, the quality of their work was not. It’s only been a few months, and a clear mistake they made caused one of the brand new parts to fail. I’m sad to say that they aren’t willing to fix the issue and tried to blame faulty parts.Now I have a leaky exhaust and will be trying to find a new mechanic.For those of you who speak car: they replaced my exhaust manifolds and y-pipe with new parts I brought to them from Auto Zone. They had to adjust the curvature of the pipe to make it fit, but left it resting on the subframe. I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that the vibrations traveled through the pipes and found the weakest location to cause a crack.

Ive always had a great experience with the open and honest communication with a fair price. The staff is very friendly and the scheduling is always made easier with the car service that gos the extra mile!

Not to mention they take pictures of the issues your vehicle may have, tell you about each and every single one of them and informs you of the ways to fix those issues. I Highly recommend them for any vehicle needs.

While I appreciate the fact that my oil change was free due to being a healthcare worker during the pandemic, the guy who came to talk to me basically told me my brand new car needed all of these services that I just had done about 3 months ago. He was very pushy, I tried to tell him I didn’t need those and he proceeded to push. The front desk lady was very sweet but when you offer a free service don’t try to up sale almost $700 worth of work. Again, thank you for the free oil change but maybe have a refresher course on customer service.

Diagnosis not good on my car. I knew that going in. They were very clear on alternate options and others that were mandatory. Also were excellent with transportation help. The pandemic has brought up issues where their waiting room was closed. Made some suggestions, and they appreciated the feedback. Great experience and would definite err lying recommend.

I learned of Steves Automotive Specialist in Clearfield, second hand, from the owner of another car of the same type.I was not able to get my car into the dealership for repair, and made an appointment with Steves in Clearfield. What a great move this was.They were professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and very personable.Very customer oriented. The repairs were done quickly.New rear brakes, hood struts, and water pump. I dropped it off on a Friday morning, and picked the car up on a Tuesday morning. It was actually finished on Monday afternoon,, but I could not get to the shop before it closed to pick it up. I live in Ogden.Parts had to be ordered from CA, and they arrived sooner than even the shop had anticipated.The cost was about 1/2 of what I would have paid at the dealership service department, and, I could get an appointment immediately, and, they had a loaner car for me! Awesome customer service, and repair service.

The staff at Steve’s Automotive is so friendly and helpful! I came in today for a simple oil change and was offered a drink while sitting to wait. The receptionist is easy to talk to and the atmosphere is clean and bright. I was even impressed to see a small kids area with toys. I left my daughter at home, but she would have loved it. Steve’s Automotive mails out cute newsletters every few months and coupons too! I’m very happy with their service.

Took my vehicle in for some basic repairs and became a long time customer. Even gave me a loaner car while mine was being worked on. Now I take my vehicle in for all my services. The receptionist is always friendly and engaging. The auto specialists are very thorough and give you a full breakdown that is color coded and easy to read as well as pictures so you know your vehicles health anytime you take it in. They have a car care club membership where you get four free oil changes, wiper replacement, etc. Honest, hard-working mechanics, and friendly staff what more can I say. Highly recommend!

Went to get my oil changed and get emissions testing done. Service seemed quick, but did take a bit longer then I expected. They said my gas cap was not going to pass the testing, and tried to sell me a cap almost 3 times as much as I spent when I walked across the parking lot to Auto zone. The guy tried to scare me into buying the cap from them saying that the cap I would buy from Auto zone would not pass. The cap I bought was fine and passed with no problem.

We had such an awesome experience here! They were super friendly when I called in for prices and then we were blown away by the incredible service! We took a car in that we were looking to buy and they were able to do a thorough inspection and give us a report with recommendations and prices! Totally recommend!

These folks are simply awesome! Not enough positive adjectives in the dictionary to describe my experience. My poor truck developed a ghost electrical problem that just about drove me bats after a repair that I did. They hooked into their diagnostic gear, put their ghost hunter technician on it, and in due time the problem was fixed. Peace of mind restored!! Great customer service and follow through. Highly recommend

Love this place. Very good and kind service. Doesn’t seem like there here to make money off you, there main concern is that your safe in your own vehicle. They are very well at what they do and offer there advice in things and recommendations that don’t break your bank. They have earned a lifetime customer here! 🤘🏼

This place is great! They were able to get me in quick even though I didn’t have an appointment. After being referred here by a friend, I can say it was definitely worth coming to them for my emissions check.

Brought my car to Steves automotive because it was having a weird noise and shaking when I stop the car. Everyone else wanted to charge me just to take a look at car, but Steves went for a test drive, and figured out the issue for free and was able to fix this for me. I will definitely bring my car back for future issues.
