Ive seen Stehlins through passing. I had a mouth watering taste for some beef ribs. I finally stop in, didnt see any on display and started to leave. I was politely ask if was looking for something that I didnt see.Basically to make a long Amazing story short. Stehlins had / have the best fresh meaty ribs that Ive ever had❣ Now I refuse to buy beef or pork meats from any other market in Cincinnati

Family owned Meat Market. Meat are processed and prepared on site. Ham, bacon, etc. smoked on site. High quality meats. Available in bulk packages also. A lot more choices of cuts of meats that you wont find in the big stores. Specialty hamburgers, brats, metts, sausage links, etc. processed and made on site. As with most of all small meat markets its a little more cost than the big stores but its definitely a lot better, higher quality than the big stores and worth the cost.

I just received the second half-cow that Ive purchased that has been butchered at Stehlins. The first time was okay but this second time Im extremely disappointed.First cow:This was my first time getting a butchered cow. I was pressured to get my steaks cut in such a manner that they basically just ran them through a band saw. I was insistent that I did not want the bones in my steaks. For the most part they did that, although, there were a few. The roasts were cut in such a manner that they did not fit into my pots or crock pots, this was disappointing. On the whole it was a mediocre experience, but I was willing to use them again.Second cow:This time I ordered a half cow from a different rancher. When I called Stehlins I was pressured to have my cow cut as I previously did. I get that this streamlines the process but I definitely wanted changes in how the cow was cut. When they called me to say they were getting ready to cut my cow they tried to get me to have it cut as I had previously, despite me already having placed my butchering order a few days before. Upon receiving my cow I discovered that it was butchered to about half of my specifications. Again, despite telling them that I wanted the roasts cut smaller, I still cannot fit them into my pots and crock pots. I was also told that double wrapping of butcher paper was not an option. I already knew that they do not vacuum seal.Summation:They have a clean operation. While they are not rude to you on the phone you get the distinct impression that they just want you to take the cow as they want to cut it and get you off the phone. The customer service aspect definitely needs work. I just paid a significant amount of money for the butchering but it was not correct and my order was extremely reasonable. The next time that I order a cow I will definitely go out of my way to order from someone who does not have their butchering done at Stehlins.

I grew up driving by Stehlins. I love their ham salad (I can eat it with a spoon) and I purposely buy a hog from a farmer since hell drop it off at Stehlins for processing for me.Theyve always been super friendly and helpful when Ive gone in and they cut exactly to my specs. Great quality of meat, especially their goetta. Cost wise I think theyre right on par for better quality.

Best butcher shop in town especially for smoked meats

Cant go wrong with fresh meat from a local butcher shop. The guys are extremely nice and helpful too. You should also check out their smoked dog bones for your four legged friends, mine love them.

As a special treat to a friend in the Armed Services and his family, I ordered 6 porterhouse steaks cut 1-3/4 thick. DELICIOUS! Everyone said it was the best tasting steak they had ever had and that the steaks practically melted in their mouths. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I went in over Christmas Holiday to purchase some steaks for my family that was visiting from out of town. It was the first time I shopped there and they were fairly busy and had a lot of employees working. I dont know if they were temporary help, or regular employees but they were not kids, all of them over the age of 40. All of the meat looked fresh and they looked like they were doing a lot of business, but I was not impressed with the quality of the meat, I didnt like the trim on the steak, and the employees were not very nice. I will not go back, I think I can find better steaks at a better price locally.

The only true Butcher Shop left in Cincinnati. They bring the animals in & butcher them right there their meat is fresh not impoted. You tell them what u want they cut it the way you want it.

Ive only been here a couple of times, but I had excellent service both times. The cuts that I bought were cheaper there than at the grocery store. The also have lots of interesting sides like sausages, soups, even fresh dog food. Ill definitely be back.

When the quality matters, I go to Stehlins! Best butcher around. You might pay more than you will at Kroger or Meijer, but you get what you pay for. I dont trust supermarket meat counters. There products are full of chemicals. I have a WSM and smoke a lot of brisket and ribs. I also like to fix a standing rib roast for the holidays. I always head to Stehlins.

Walked in... Not another customer in the place, TWO men behind the counter. One glances at me as I walk in and without a word turns his back and never turns around again. The OTHER one NEVER turns to see who rang the chimes as I walk in. I certainly could never identify them in a line up... unless they turned their back to me. Not a good representation to bring people back... OR since there wasnt another soul in the place... First time customers. Wont be back. Not a single word... smh

Ive been getting meat from Stehlins Meats for decades. During my latest visit to pick up a pork belly, I spoke to Denny Stehlin, who Id seen but never really talked to before. I asked if he could show me the smokehouse, so I could take some pictures. Before I could even complete my request, he waved me forward and said come on. He showed me everything. And explained what they do. I had no idea that every meat they offer came to them live. They slaughter and process right there. You cant get any fresher than that. They also make all of their own things, like chicken salad, brats, and what have you. He even showed me the meticulous records they keep of temperatures, calibrations, and where meat comes from, how much it weighed coming in, weight after dressing, etc. Theyve been keeping records like that for over 100 years. The entire place appeared clean, and Denny was amazingly open, and proud, of the quality work they do, and the products they offer. If I could, Id give them 10 stars. And, the smokehouse smell like a little slice of heaven. We are lucky to have Stehlins. No other place like it exists in Cincinnati, or in the tristate, as far as I can tell.

All around disappointed. Talked to the the manager 8months before my wedding about slaughtering a roasting hog for the reception. He agreed to slaughter outside of their normal slaughter season if I brought two hogs in, told me to call back a month b4 my wedding to set up a date. I call back a month b4 my wedding to set up a time refuses to slaughter out of season.
