I cannot say enough good things about this practice. We have been with them for about 4 years. The practice is always clean. They are friendly and they know my animals when I walk in the door. They have a new app that they are using on top of traditional methods of communication. In my experience they reply on the app within 30 minutes during business hours. They work with your availability and not make you work within theirs. They are open late several times a week and some Saturdays. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, especially during difficult times.

They are always nice to me and my puppy, they treat us like we are family and if you have any questions they are always happy to answer. Plus they are affordable! Definitely recommend.

Tharp Animal Health Care Center did such a good job with my dogs grooming! They provided adaptations for her special needs and, when I picked her up, she smelled like a vanilla cupcake and had the cutest, most expressive eyebrows. For years her eyebrows have been groomed in such a way she looked continuously mean to folks who didnt know her. Glad I switched to Tharps! Quality, affordable services.

I had an appointment to have my dog checked out for having possible seizures. They took so long past my appointment time that I had to leave without getting what I needed done. I was charged $45 for nothing. They wanted to charge me over $300 for bloodwork, which I declined. He was supposed to get a heartworm test, flea meds and the checkup but none of that was accomplished. They also make you wait in the car which is stupid.

We took our African gray parrot buckeye to get his wings clipped on the 12th on the 15th in the wee hours of the AM he was 30ft up and pine tree and freezing!!We are lucky to have found him at all we looked for hours.After a while we where desperate and so afraid of it being to cold not to mention everything elseThat I shook the branches with another branch I trimmed off earlier the day before! So afraid to do it but afraid not to do something!So I won’t not advise you to take your birds here to be clipped… I should have known better the price of the clip was so so cheap only it almost wasn’t because the price of our beautiful buckeye well being and life is priceless!!So bird owners beware and i did my researchI looked at the reviewsI thought they knew what they were doing (WRONG)

I have three cats and Tharp is their vet. The vet techs are so friendly. My long haired kitty also gets groomed here since he has to be sedated. The prices are reasonable and you can tell everyone who works here loves animals.

Dr. Tharp and his team was very knowledgeable and great with our 2 goats. We recieved the best quality care and affordable pricing. The staff had great information and was very polite and professional to us. They were very responsive with all of our questions. We felt like we were apart of thier team . We were visiting family in Chillicothe when our beloved family labrador friend, Moses took off out the door to give a kitty chase. On his way back through, Moses was distracted by a german shephard across the street who was chained up and barking ferociously at all the excitement. Moses went to say hi hoping to play and the shephard wasnt having any of it. Moses was bitten and then went belly up, thankfully the shephard was satisfied enough not to bite again; however Moses did not go unscathed. He was going to need emergency care to close up his wound. My mom called her vet and Tharps agreed to take us in! Tharps clinic was quick to get us in and evaluated. Moses left with 4 staples, a cone, antibiotics and ibuprofen for just less than 200 bucks! 2 days later Moses is sort of but not really getting use to his lamp shade and is already feeling better! What a good boy! Thank you Tharps Animal Healthcare for taking such good care of our best friend, Moses! ❤ 🐾

My dog has a terrible fear of anything to do with medical treatment, so a muzzle is necessary, and being a large dog, weighing 90 pounds, his appt. can be a real challenge. Dr. Tharp proceeds with a calm, confident, and kind hand, eventually calming my frightened boy. I appreciate everything this office does.

We became close to the owners when they helped us with our cat Gracie. The owners are amazing kind hearted people.The only reason we removed a star was due to the fact that in our experience when we needed them last year we were told by the receptionist they were not accepting new clients due to Covid. Ok I understand we had only been there once or twice and were still getting established but we were not “new” as in never been there before. I told her this to no avail.We went elsewhere.

As always the complete staff was warm and caring for our visit. Dr. Tharp is so patient with my dog Pookie and he explains things very well. Pookie is a senior dog and has gone to Dr.Tharp several times in the past when she was very sick and had to stay a few days. Once I had recently had a serious surgery and I was going through a very stressful time. When Pookie got sick I was heartbroken. I would not take my pain medication so I could go see Pookie. I went to visit her every day and the staff was so compassionate to me and Pookie. I highly recommend Dr. Tharp and his staff to care for your loved ones both big and small.

Brittany did an excellent job grooming my cat. She looks great and she wasn’t stressed. I appreciate the great job they do here.

Dr Tharp and their team are awesome. They are Christians and the love of the Lord shines through with everything they do. My Boston Terrier has a rare elongated soft palate and has to have surgery. They were so nice and so good with my rabbit. I was so scared taking him in to see someone and not being able to be with him but they were so nice that I didnt worry as much. He was in and out and taken care of within a short amount of time. He was happy when he came out and it wasnt as much as I thought it was going to be expense wise.

I have cats & they treat them equally, not like some vets that only care about the larger animals and the money they can make off them. Beause of the pandemic we have not left the house since March, a therefore she was a long-haired mess. When she came back from your office she looked and smelled 100% better and even had a little puppy paw scarf on!

We had an emergency with our fur baby, our regular vet was closing and couldn’t get us in until the next day. We called Dr Tharp’s office and they immediately worked us in even though we were not a regular patient there. We were very pleased with the care and attention we received. We had an emergency with one of our dogs (balto) no other vets office had a vet in unless it was by appointment and we knew that balto needed immediate care we drove over an hour to have balto seen because this was the only place with a vet present when we got there we called and let them know we were there and immediately they came out and got balto and took him in. the swiftness of checking him out and letting us know what was going on was beyond excellent! Balto will be a returning patient because of the knowledge they already have on his accident I believe they will take that into mind with his future care

I was charged double the amount for ear medicine for my Siberian huskys ear infection. I needed. I paid. Iam not sure why cost was so high. They told me they past me a 40 dollar savings for seeing my cat and dog but walked away for sure that they got their money for that in cost of medication, for my dog. I wont go back there. Its to expensive for pet owners. I dont pay that much in my medical expenses for myself and I dont have insurance.

Maxwell was well cared for. Holly, his vet tech, was compassionate, knowledgeable and accessible. She understood my anxiety and calmed my fears in a professional and optimistic way. Everything turned out as she explained and expected. Thank you Holly!

I had an appointment yesterday afternoon for our dog who sustained an injury yesterday. I watched in the parking lot as the staff took animals in and out of the office and felt that they were efficient, quick and kind to the clients. I was so happy when they allowed me to go in to discuss my dogs injuries. Dr. Tharpe was thorough in his examination and I was happy that he is taking a more conservative treatment of our dog. We are very lucky to have Dr. Tharpe and his staff to take care of our dog!!

Boarded Dexter the day following his grooming. Dont think he had any outdoor time as he barely exited my car before emptying a full bladder and had a BM, then drank a large bowl of water. I wanted him to stay the extra day because I knew the grooming was stressful for him. I think he was probably ignored.

I moved to chillicothe a year ago and needed a vet to take my 3yr boston terrier to. Dr.Tharp and his staff have always been nice to and very gentle to my dog Fidget. They can be pricey but Ill take that price for the level of care that is given to my dog.

We had to make 2 visits during the same week due to my daughters cats mastermind escape skills. Staff was great both times and every time I called to check on said cat!

Very satisfied with visit. Thaps team team is competant and empathetic. I would highly recommend them for your furbabies!

Great staff good work

My dog became ill and after a couple of days I called Tharp Animal Clinic to get an appointment with one of the doctors. I was given an appointment the very next day. The Vet Tech greeted my dog and took her right in to see the doctor. They came back to ask about running tests. The doctor called me (social distancing) to tell me the diagnosis and plan of treatment. Everything went smoothly. My dog is recovering very well. I always have very high confidence when my dog is sick that Tharp will help her.

Dr. Tharp has always taken good care of my families pets.

They got me right in and Dr Tharp is always kind and good to my dogs I can’t say enough how much I appreciate him over the years! The girls out front are very nice and professional and polite!!

They don’t sedate my cats to groom them and when I brought them most recently to the clinic one of my cats got car sick just as I dropped them off and they even cleaned up after him! This place is probably great if your rich! Every time I have taken my dog here, (3 times) it has cost WAY more to pick him up, than the price quoted in the beginning. The first time was when he was neutered, and I was quoted around $160, but when I picked my new dog up it was closer to $350. This last time I boarded my dog, and the billing evidently goes by calendar day, which was not explained to me by the office staff. I dropped my dog off at 11am on a Wednesday, and picked him up on Saturday at 11am, and was charged for 4 full days. So, with all due respect, if you can afford it I’m sure the care is good enough, but if you are on a budget, like most people, then find somewhere else. This has been enough chances to make a final decision.

Ive been taken my animals to Dr.Tharps ever since I was was old enough to go on my own. Hes always been able to help even in emergencies...i wouldnt have my dog Nacho if it wasnt for him doing and emergency csection on his mom almost 14 years ago ...Even during the hard times when I had pets that it was there time to go everyone their was caring and supportive throughout the whole process. I wont go to another vet. Dr.Tharp is the best and only place I use ...thank to everyone that belongs to that business and keep up the good work!

Best group of ppl weve ever taken our dogs and cats too. Genuine compassion is so rare these days. U can find plenty in Chillicothe, OH, just past Lowes on the left. Weve been taking our animals to Dr Tharp for 4-5 yrs now and I can HONESTLY say weve always been satisfied with the results. One of our cats(Annie) fell ill while I was in Afghanistan, a few yrs ago. Dr Tharp and his staff went above and beyond to help Annie stay alive and healthy until I get home. She stuck around for a month or so, after I was home and passed peacefully on my lap, one sunny afternoon. We received a card, signed by the entire staff, just after Annies passing. Im not even sure how they new she had passed...just really great folks.
