This gym has changed my life and approach towards my health/ fitness lifestyle. Amazing programming, attentive coaches and friendly community. Before basis, I would workout but never saw results for all the work that I put in. Basis changed that for me. They have well rounded programming that covers it all - from strength, to conditioning, nutrition and mobility work! I am most definitely stronger, more aerobic capable, more body aware than I was before I joined. This is the most “fit” I have ever been. The best part of it all, I actually enjoy and look forward to the gym, aka second home.
Basis is not just a gym, its a community. The coaches are extremely attentive to each persons goals, strengths, and limitations and it seems like there is nothing offered that they arent willing and able to tailor to just about any level of ability, mobility, and strength. This place has taught me so much about movement and my own body and taught me how to develop a movement practice with longevity as the first consideration. Basis is the best!
I really enjoy this community and feel welcome and supported in a way I never have in a gym, or even a yoga class in a long time. Theres a lot of attention to body health and mechanics, never pushing past ones limits.

Basis is a gym that allows you to work at whatever level you see best fit for yourself. No other gym I have been to gives such broad range of conditioning intensity levels, diversified strength training opportunities, and recovery/mobility guidance. Health is before performance in their name because these coaches know you must be healthy to be able to perform. Being healthy is for everyone, and Basis is too.
The Nutrition Program (I worked with Sarah) is incredible! I spent years trying to get off the last 30 lbs of baby weight and nothing every worked until meeting and working with Sarah. She makes it easy to follow and understand and is concerned about your whole health, not just weight. I have recommended her to so many people!
Nate was motivating and personal. He walked around to each person multiple times to give advice, adjustments or encouragement. There were nearly 20 people in class and we all feel we get 100% of his attention and feedback. The community of folks there were awesome! Gayle made my first visit so fun with her telling me we can see the finish flags!!! I feel lucky to have found Basis. (47 year old woman 130 lbs)
I love this gym for so many reasons but what I really love and appreciate the most is the staff. I don’t know if you’ll ever find a gym where you will get such a quality workout from a group of people that possess such a vast comprehension of the human body that are also so kind and supportive.I recommend this gym to anyone that has any interest in improving their over health and well-being.
The nutrition program at Basis is a wonderful resource. I learned a ton about nutrition in general, but was able to focus on what works best for my body. Sarah helped me find solutions that were flexible, made losing weight relatively easy, didnt leave me feeling deprived, and are sustainable for the long term. A year and a half later I have maintained the weight loss and the habits I formed!

After hearing and reading about the various health benefits of a ketogenic diet I was interested in giving it a try. I met with Sarah and was very impressed by the depth of her expertise and her ability to organize a plan for me. She answered all my questions and set me on a very manageable course to achieve my goals. After having been on the diet for about six months I feel completely comfortable with my nutrition and in good health while receiving the desired feedback from medical testing.
With nutritional coaching from Sarah, I lost 10 pounds without even trying. Her ideas about eating are simple and straightforward and most importantly, they apply to the grind of real life. The coaches at BASIS gym provide the most well-rounded training Ive ever experienced.
The nutritional coaching program is amazing. After struggling to get baby weight off for a couple years I meet with Sarah. I learned a lot in the process. I liked that this program was completely personalized and flexible. She helped me reach my goal, but that wasnt the end. Once I reached my goal she helped me rebuild my metabolism so I wouldnt have to count calories forever.
The emphasis on proper body mechanics and heart rate control are fantastic. The knowledge that the trainers and owners have for keeping the body mobile and safe during exercise movements is deep. Its a very safe place to give it my best effort knowing these trainers are encouraging me from a genuine place to watch me excel and become a better athlete.
Six months ago I was diagnosed with borderline type 2 diabetes. I met with Sarah regarding a nutrition plan to help reverse and stop the progression of insulin resistance. Sarahs knowledge and expertise have been an essential part of my weight loss and health journey. Sarah helped create a plan for me that was attainable, reasonable and easy for me to understand. I have struggled for years trying to lose weight by dieting. This time everything feels different because it is a way of eating I can see doing long term. Twelve weeks after meeting with Sarah and following the nutrition plan my fasting blood sugar and A1C were in normal range. My doctor of 15 years was truly impressed with my results of losing over 50lbs.
Basis Health & Performance is the best gym for your overall health and athleticism. They cater to everyone no matter your age or fitness level. The coaches are on another level with their knowledge of body mechanics, mobility, programming, nutrition, etc. You cannot find a more well rounded place to either start or continue your fitness journey. Sarah is a fantastic coach and leads an amazing nutrition program. With her help I was able to meet my goals to drop weight and maintain strength. Leibor is an awesome strength coach and puts together an amazing program for me to follow. His programming has allowed me to make incredible strides in my personal bests in specific lifts over the past year. Grayson & Nate are some of the most welcoming people you will ever meet. Also my go to for any aches and pains I need to solve with mobility. If you are looking for a gym to call home, check this place out.
Our teenage son attends this gym and not only do they help him feel comfortable with the other people in the gym they also help him feel comfortable with the equipment. He is learning a ton and absolutely loves to go not to mention he is getting an age appropriate challenging workout! The people and atmosphere is incredible.... we highly recommend!
Basis is the best!!! If you live in Chico this is where you should be training. Period. I live in the Bay Area and have come up a few times to train with Basis. You couldnt have a better trio leading everyone from youth, to athletes, to seniors in performance training. Equally important, these coaches have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to health and what science tells us. Being from the Bay Area, I have seen a lot of gyms in this area and I cant tell you how beautiful of a facility Basis has. Aside from their brilliant coaches, youve got access to an amazing facility. Also...cute pups, and the owner Pearl is a real gem ;P
I swear by this gym. What I love most about this place is the coaches passion about what they do. For them, it is way more than just a job. They actively seek out new information on health and performance, and bring it back to the gym. They are always looking for ways to improve the members experience and optimize the training outcome. I cannot say enough about Basis and its owners, Sarah, Grayson and Nate. They are tremendously knowledgeable and sincere in their commitment to their work. They care very deeply about each of their clients and are 100% invested in helpingclients make positive changes in their life. You go at your own pace, without pressure, but they are with you every step of the way. Under their guidance, I have lost 16 lbs and 10.5 inches from body areas. My strength, stamina and balance have returned to levels I did not think Id see again at my age. This gym is truly here for you, whether you want to body build, increase stamina or improve joint range and function. Ive watched other members, from seniors to children, make serious, lasting body changes. Basis is a unique gym. A place where one can make real improvement in an understanding, caring, fun environment.
I love this gym! The coaches are friendly and know what they’re doing. In the classes they show you how to do all the exercises, and they know how to get results and avoid injuries. It is easier to stay motivated in the group setting: misery loves company!

Basis is a really fun place to workout. All the trainers are fantastic and well educated. They’re a pack of super nerds that know their stuff and love sharing it with people. Their range of classes is all encompassing. You can even partake in a weekly nutrition class orpay a little extra for personalized nutrition coaching. Basis is a lot more than just a place to exercise. The classes are well planned and based in science, and their intent is to give people more than just a way to get a workout in. If you’re looking for a change/get too beat up in CrossFit/are bored where you are, you should definitely come try Basis. Also I’m convinced the infrared sauna fixed my breakouts.

Perfect blend of strength, conditioning, and mobility. The best part is I have been injury free in the year and a half I have been there. Tweeks to my shoulders and back I would get at the other gyms have all but gone away. Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) works!

Many classes offered at flexible times with great variety. Instructors are well educated and pay attention to the details of your workout. Classes to choose from include nutrition, conditioning, strength and kinstretch/functional range conditioning. Nate, Grayson & Sarah changed the way I look at nutrition and fitness. Before I started working with them I was wearing a knee brace, not able to run or jump and had tried all the diets and ate what I thought was a clean diet. After about 3 months of working with them, the brace was off and I was able to run and do box jumps. After 6 months I could sprint and saw a visible change in my body composition and felt amazing. I should mention I never did personal training with any of them, I only attended group classes they coached. They gave me modifications in class and mobility exercises to do at home to help me reach my goals. I attribute my success story to their science based training and programming and my ability to commit. Im happy to see them start this gym so they can share their knowledge and improve the lives of others through health just as they have done for me. I highly recommend you give this place a try.

I have been with Basis from the beginning! The trainers are incredible and continue to hone their craft regularly to bring the most current information for our workouts. They are inovative and have a deep care and conviction of doing what is best for their clients. I recommend this gym for any age young or old. And....their Kinstretch class is a game changer!!
Training at Basis Health and Performance has truly made a huge difference in my life. I have become the healthiest version of myself through the nutrition coaching, strength training and conditioning and kinstretch/mobility. Before coming to Basis, I was training intensively 4-5 days per week for over a year and a half, and I had not lost any weight. I was definitely strong, but my blood pressure was high and I was carrying too much weight. Sarah helped teach me how to eat to maximize my strength training and also cut weight. My nutrition plan was individualized to my needs, and the weight came off so quickly. I hit a PR on my deadlift after losing 50 lbs, and I maintained my squat PR. Along with nutrition coaching, I was following a powerlifting strength program written by Leibor. He really listens to the strength goals that you present, provides the foundation and structure to meet the goals, and is always available to answer questions or encourage. One of my favorite things about Basis is the culture. Everyone is accepted, supported and given the attention that they need. Each of the coaches knows everyone by name, and they are very thoughtful and intentional about all that they do to support their clients. Basis is also the reason I fell in love with Strongman training. If you love strength training, it is a MUST! I cannot recommend this gym more. So thankful I found you, Basis! ♥️

Never been to a gym where the trainers know more than i do in reguard to physiology, kinsiology and muscle rehabilitation. Gentile, kind, and expect only what is possible for my body to give. Never shaming or pushing for bigger results. I have gone from 10% shoulder range to 100%. Pain levels down to 1 or2 from 8 and 9. Going from unable to jump or run due to pain, to going up and down stairs easily with minimal pain. I am stronger, my heart is stronger and i move so much easier. Wonderful staff!! PT all of them!
The gym offers conditioning (high and low intensity), KinStretch (dynamic stretching, way more work than it sounds), and strength training classes, as well as nutritional classes and supported, individualized diet protocols. Pretty much All The Things.Sarah, Grayson, Sophia, Nate, and Leibor--Basis instructors--are the exact sweet spot of expert and approachable. They are as kind as they are knowledgeable, and thats a huge big deal when theres so many feels around bodies.Staff is quick and genius with modifications for folks who are working with injuries or issues. Ive never asked a question of these folks that wasnt answered in a thorough and satisfying way--and they welcome questions; they dont make you feel like a jackass for having them.I cant say enough good things about Basis. Theres never that sense of ugh, not only is working out hord, but it makes me feel yucky and weird to be at the gym. Got 99 problems, but my gym aint one, because I love this place. :)

Basis will nurture and grow your fitness addiction. If you are brand new to working out or if you are an experienced athlete Basis has a great programming to make sure you are getting what you need each and every visit.The coaching staff is simply amazing, Grayson, Sarah, Nate, and Leiber are all extremely passionate about what they do and perfecting their craft. The thing I enjoy most is they are never done learning, they consistently come to the gym with new ideas, stretches, movements, articles on fitness and mobility to better help their clients. Their passion for what they do shows, and its clear they love what they do and helping their clients achieve their goals.The gym itself is newer with great equipment. They utilize heart rate monitors and a tv screen for their cardio workouts. Some days you are pushing yourself to maximum capacity, other days you are trying to finish your workout without spiking your heart rate. There is a weightlifting class to help you build/bulk up if that is what you are wanting to do, great workouts designed to grow muscles and test your strength in various ways. Basis also has a sauna and ask any of the coaches they can tell you 10 reasons why you should use the sauna and the benefits your body receives from it. One of my favorite classes is their Kinstretch it is an hour-long mobility class that can be challenging. Its test your range of motion and helps to create more of it.Overall Basis has the best coaches that truly care about their clients with programming, new equipment and workouts that will help you achieve your goals no matter what they are. I would HIGHLY suggest giving it a shot, I promise you wont regret it.
