“The Difference Auction House” 1600 Chico River Rd, Chico CA.Dealing with this company has been one of the worst experiences of my life.My husband passed away unexpectedly and I had to downsize 50 years of his collecting and accumulating. I hired The Difference Auction Company.They said all the things I wanted to hear, they removed 8-10 trailer loads from my property and said because I had so much it would take at least 2 auctions. Never did they say it would take 7 months and that they would mix all my items with dozens of other peoples items. So, I had thousands of items mixed with other peoples items and a very poor accounting of what was mine, no inventory of what was mine and no payment on items because they said “oh, that wasn’t your item”. Guess that is the plan, that way you can’t keep track of what is or isn’t yours. I was not paid for many items, argued with about whether an item was mine, not received checks, (told the “check” is in the mail), wouldn’t respond to visits to their business or calls, absolutely no accountability. If I can save just one person from going through the anguish this business caused me I will be happy. I have never dealt with such dishonesty and the lack of respect for my deceased husband is hard to bare.With the enormity of the amount of items taken from here and the fact that I wasn’t told my stuff would be mixed with many other peoples stuff there is no way to keep track…even though I was promised I would receive a list of every item in an auction ahead of said auction.Without having a list and 7 months into auctions, my items mixed with other peoples items was an impossibility to keep track of on my end so I will never know how much I never got paid for. I even had items taken from here that weren’t supposed to go to auction and when I asked for items to be pulled from auction I was charged.Please don’t fall for all the feel good stories from them…and don’t trust them to take your property with the promise of it being auctioned off and that you will get paid, it’s not going to happen. So many excuses! I will never know how much was kept of mine and never did go to auction. Sorry I was such a fool. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

This is the best place to find items you never knew you wanted.When winning an item you really want,its best to put a proxy on it. Also,try to.watch the bid close. I have lost due to last minute higher bids.

Sold a bunch of stuff through these guys when I was cleaning out our garage. They never paid me out after the auction. Wont answer phone calls. This business is shady AF!

My hubby always teases the workers and these people are very friendly and have an incredible auction!!

I had bad experiences with slippery DaveStripped parts off of my lot and wouldnt give the back without a huge hassle.Last auction I bought from him he didnt give me one lot and I didnt catch it because he kept my receipt. I saw it in the next auction and called him on it only to get hung up on and then kicked off of his site. I had been warned by others but he seems like a nice guy..NOTBeware he is bad news folks, good luck.

Beware...My aunt had them pick up 2 batches of stuff. The first batch she received a check for, but the second somehow disappeared. They claim not to have received it. Unfortunately, she was trusting and didnt have them sign for the list of items she gave them. She has been hung up on a couple times when trying to get payment or her stuff back.Shady company and business

Great auction house to purchase lots of treasures!!!

I cannot recommend this company. They don’t do a very good job with posting descriptions then when items sell it’s an act if God to get your money from them. We waited way longer than the stated time frame to get our money from the sells which only happened after multiple emails and demands. Then I only got a patial payment and had to request the balance. I requested an itemized list of our things and what they sold for which I was told I would get but never did receive. Another month or so later I still had not received payment for a few other items. I again sent more emails and told to wait 21days after auction closed...still no payment and it’s been 21days plus an additional month. Multiple emails and no response. They still owe me money. You’d be better off using Craigslist or having garage sales.
