Witnessed a security guard bully a clearly mentally impared man and then someone inside laugh when he left. I thought you guys were supposed to help people? Show a little compassion jeez.
I have tried to call the number multiple times and each time, it has told me that this location was closed due to covid. I work and cant come down to talk to them during the week. This is very frustrating.
Dont waste your time. They dont even pick up the phone, and they barely care about the changes made online.

I called because they gave me the wrong # to fax my papers and this lady picks up the phone, is all freaking mad, I asked for the right # and this lady makes a big deal. The service here is horrible. They should just fire these lousy people who treat customers like crap, maybe theyd learn to appreciate their job better if they did.
The best chicago dhs i have been to. only took about half an hour. and hardly any line. I went at the end of the day and expected chaos.
GARBAGE! Dont even waste your time trying to call. They NEVER pick up, NEVER call back, or they turn the phones off. So communication is non existent. You will NEVER...EVER get through. I mean EVER. All those fake posts that are saying they have good service or leaving positive reviews are those who work for the company or were paid to leave those remarks. They lack everything at this location. They might as well say bums off the street are running the place because you get ZERO customer service, ZERO questions answered, ZERO anything accomplished. NO ONE is ever on the switchboard nor are there any operators. Good luck!
All the employees that do not work out in the other offices get sent to this office I believe so all their rude and unhappy workers are sent to this office. The people here are mixed though I have run into nice case managers and there are some managers that seem to care less if they put your information in correctly. They are also the most unorganized, uninformed, unaware office I have ever seen in my life. The phone number never works and that is really sad that these people who work there are getting paid money to do this kinda of stuff to the citizens of Chicago. I say protest, call the alderman in the area tell them about it. Make it a big deal. Not enough people making it a big deal, nothing will ever get done and it will remain the same. Its the office I need to use though so I will remain there. Till I get out of Illinois and Chitcago.
This place is the worst, they never have an answer for me. Always extremely rude. The caseworker wouldnt let me finish my questions. They can never help me here. I would ask her for her name and she refused to give it to me only telling me it was with Mr. Baldwin. The supervisor didnt want to talk to me. They messed up my case and lost my sons paperwork and decide to give me attitude for their incompetence. You go with a good attitude and always leave frustrated from there.
This office is impossible to reach over the phone. Every time I call, I either get a busy signal or the phone just rings non-stop.South Loop DHS scheduled a phone interview with me for my case. I requested a phone interview because my work schedule doesnt align with their work hours. I sent via Priority Mail all the materials they asked for prior to the interview. Of course, they never called at the appointment time and when I tried to call them, no answer. I got a letter a week later from IL DHS saying I missed a scheduled interview and if I dont reschedule, my application will be denied. Its ridiculous that my application could get denied because this office didnt follow through. I will file some sort of appeal of I am denied because of this.EDIT: Of course, my application was denied because I missed my appointments. I called nine times and visited their office twice and I get no word from them. Im appealing my case.

This is the worse department of human services they all have an attitude. First they make you wait just to check in then they make u wait to actually speak to someone. They never answer the phone or help you in person. You just come to this office to waste 3-5 hours of your time and get nothing done. I dont even know why they have security they dont do anything but sit around talking on their phones. They are rude towards older people that dont know how to speak english properly. Please read this and find another office!!!!!
They’re only getting 1 star because it isn’t possible to give them a negative 1 star. I applied back in May and finally received correspondence in July, that was no help. I kept calling and calling and faxing and emailing, and got nothing in return. The online app is bs. Never had to go through this before. When they finally responded they sent a letter for temporary assistance stating for me to reach out to the office at 1112 S Wabash, worst thing ever. What I don’t understand is why didn’t they just send the temporary card like before? Another stall tactic. It’s very sad that we cannot get the service we need because people cannot and refuse to do their jobs. They will hang up the phones after letting them ring nonstop. It’s disgusting. I am going on 4 months and still have not gotten in touch with anyone. This is a disgrace. May as well shut it down!!!!
They NEVER answer your phone calls. Always busy or phone rings FOREVER but no one picks up. Called about 30 times today and NOTHING.😡😡😡

Called in on Monday April 17th 2017 regarding an issue with my Case. Whomever was answering the phones between 11:00-11:30 was extremely rude, incompetent and had no Empathy whatsoever. She spoke in a horribly ghetto tone and seemed pretty pleased that she had a job where she was in some form of control. I kindly asked that she speak to me with respect and not generalize my situation (because she had previously stated that there was too many of us in the system, whatever that means). I have never been so disrespected in my life. She refused to put a manager on the phone and refused to give her name. I wouldnt give my name either if I wanted to hide my sour customer service skills. Anyway I had to call a higher authority and a different DHS office where I was assisted properly and treated with respect. They will be hearing from me again very soon. I suggest everyone who has had issues with these people/ establishment call Corporate!!! The more calls, the more likely they are to get off their behinds and change staffing at least.
My experience was directly with the Medical Field Office located upstairs. When calling facilities like these or DHS and etc the experiences are ALWÅYS bad. They barely answer the phone, etc. You have to actually go to these places in person!I took the morning off from work on Friday to handle business for my elderly father. Everyone I encountered at this office was helpful. Sharon Simon and Mrs. Finley specifically stand out! They dont necessarily have case workers any more but they both took the time to help me out and answer every question I had no matter how stupid as well as provided details to the specific info I need to gather to help my fathers application for Medicaid along.
I am not always available to go to their office and calling to check the status of my application feels like a waste of my phone call and time. I spend so much time just trying to get a call through, I am begging for someone to pick up the phone with with each call I make. There is so much tech now, why am I on hold for hours. Most of the time I only have one question. Is it too much to ask for somethings to be available digitally for those who possess the digital capabilities, which is quite a lot of people now-a-days.
The WORST OFFICE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I SPEND HERE 3 HOURS JUST WAITING IN LINE!!!! the number system is not working and they dont call by names just putting you in the system or pretend like the do something. Completely unprofessional! Theu dont care about anyone and anything!!!

I am not sure if service can get any worse with these ppl. They might as well cut their pay, and call them Walmart. No one ever has an answer for you here. No manager or supervisor ever return your call, its just sad. Anyone with a good review for these people either work there or they are family, because they are terrible here.

I cant even get the name of the supervisor of the woman helping us. She refuses to return any of my emails or calls. Her name is Mary and Cabrera. She cannot answer my questions so I requested her to give me her supervisors name and number. She refuses to give me the information. We are waiting to move our 94-year-old mother near us
The security man really needs to be fired. He is the rudest, sarcastic person at this location. Clearly abusing his power and not helpful at all. Lazy man on a power trip!
Have been calling for over 40 minutes and when I finally get an answer the woman who answers has an extreme additude and hangs up on me. Our conversation was no longer than 4 minutes. I did not receive any help at all.
Last 2 caseworkers my family met were both very nice. The thing is I need to keep calling for one and a half hour until someone finally picked up the phone.
