This is A wonderful workforce development program with so much support for those willing to give it their all.

Well i literally just spent the last hour and thirty minutes calling the Chicago location. No answer. Even the operator/receptionist ext. Is going to voicemail. Im pretty sure they are helpful, but definitely unproductive when they arent answering calls and its going on 9:30-10 a.m.

I dont even believe a one star can actually rate Year Up to its performance. If I had the option, I would rate it negative 5 stars. I am very disappointed with this so called program. They calls themselves a program to help students to close the opportunity divide. From my understanding, I was aware that you take some classes then you are put into a internship. It all sounds great but Year Up was not clear in its requirements. My dear brother was applying to this program. He had recently graduated and received his bachelors degree in kinesiology. Then again, he does not want a pursue a career in kinesiology because he realized it wasnt for him. He hears about Year Up and he tries to get in contact with admissions. He was so excited about this program that he had even finished acquiring all of the requirements. Unfortunately, he called numerous times and emailed Edson Ramirez, but they took a long time to get back to him. Honestly, I think they only got back to him for when I had showed up at their office to ask about the status of my brothers application. This is the moment when I meet with Mr. Ramirez and tells me that my brother is over-qualified for this program simply because he has 4 year degree and they will not take him. Going back to their objective of closing the opportunity divide, they are not fully up to par with their mission. Even if a person is under-qualified, qualified, or over-qualified, they are still qualified to at least apply to the program. Its a disgrace to not only my brother but for the other 4 individuals with 4 year degrees that applied to not even get an interview. Why didnt they sit down with these 5 individuals to analyze and consider their situations? Do they not know how bad the state budget is? Do they not know how much in debt in loans these individuals are in? I am positively sure that these 5 individuals with 4 year degrees have been trying to get out there and get jobs. However, many people and organizations like Year Up fail to realize that 4 year degrees do not make it anymore. This is why people pursue a masters degree in order to be more qualified. Clearly, he wasnt listening to me because he kept repeating himself and didnt answer my questions. Let me just point out that it was that moment when he tells me that individuals with 4 year degrees are not eligible for this program. Where was this even noted in all of the papers and emails sent out? There was not one mention of this key point in the website. They didnt update their website until I had brought it up. Now what I really want to emphasis is how tendentious this organization is. They are clearly vouching for individuals of a certain ethic group. All in all, I just want to mention that in all of my life never have I ever recognized the corruption of an organization until this moment. I dont recommend this program to anyone.

The staff are very friendly and supportive. Year Up gave me a jump start on my career.

Year Up is tremendous !! Take the first step and research!

During the informational session, I was told that you will get paid from the internship, that was false information.
