What a FUN day cruising the Chicago River on a donut boat. The staff was fun and helpful. As a longtime sailor, I was a bit nervous driving the donut boat, but it really is easy to navigate and turns far better than I expected. It was getting used to it being electric that was the bigger challenge.I didnt even think how much I would like the electric boat as its really quiet, so you dont have to yell to talk to your friends. :)

Great day on the Chicago River with the Chicago Electric Boat Company. We rented an 18 foot Duffy for two hours. It was very simple to operate. Julia went over how do use it right before we got on. She was a little quick with her directions. I wish she went a little bit slower but we got the gist of it. It was great to have our own boat and not be on one of those massive boats with a ton of people.

Eric did a great job explaining everything to us on the dock. The donut boat was easy to operate and a ton of fun. Two hours is almost enough time to get north to Foster and back. I highly recommend spending some time on the deck at Metro after you return to debrief and share photos over some beer.

Wonderful experience for myself and my nephew! We rented a vintage electric boat (max 4 people). Jake was very helpful in preparing us for our excursion. It does take a little bit to get the hang of driving the boat, but once you practice it becomes very easy. We went in August during one of the busiest times due to Lollapalooza. River traffic was heavy, yet we were able to thoroughly enjoy our 2 hour excursion.

We loved our pontoon boat ride! We rented the 8 person Duffy and the entire experience was wonderful. Great staff, easy parking at Rockwell and boat was super easy to drive. We’ve already recommended to many! Thanks for making our birthday celebration very special.

Excellent service. Worth every penny.Only suggestion would be to get something bigger if you arent super comfortable navigating boats. The smallest size can be difficult to drive.

Handover to get boring was great, as was the personnel. The boat, Violet, was cute - but the engine was constantly rotating with the trim. It was nearly impossible to stay straight. 1 hour goes fast, I recommend 2 hours if possible.

We went out for both business and pleasure on their 22 ft Duffy. Boat is rad and we cruised for 2 hours. We all had a blast. Booking, getting acclimated, and heading out was easy and Chicago Electric is communicative throughout your journey so youre in good hands. Staff is in it to win it and it shows! Renting an Electric Boat on the Chicago River was the perfect way to celebrate my fathers birthday. We opted for the 8 passenger Duffy Boat and boarded at Marina City. Parking was super easy via the valet and was offered at a reduced rate with validation from the boat company. We packed a small cooler with drinks and snacks for our two hour rental. Our guide Nick, quickly provided a lesson on how to operate the boat and radio. Overall, driving the boat was super easy for a first timer behind the wheel. Everyone had a wonderful time!

The ride itself was extremely fun, and worth every penny. However, service with the company was unpleasant. Theres only one person manning the small location. They werent on time, had to can the company several times to make sure I was at the right location. Worker was very distracted in a meeting while on the phone and trying to help us. For the money this company charged, I expect more.

This was my 2nd time renting a boat and again we had an amazing time. It was a beautiful day and the boat was super clean. The team was helpful with getting us started.

Great experience. We found out the bluetooth system was not working on the boat we were assigned to, so we were given a different boat with no hassle. Such a beautiful night for a boat ride. It was supposed to rain, (but didnt) so we had the river pretty much to ourselves! Check in was easy, as was the return to the pier. Thanks to George and the other employees for a seamless process. It was a little hard to find where the retro boats were docked, but I think it was because I was the first rental slot of the day. After I found the dock, everything went super smoothly. This was such an awesome way to explore the amazing architecture along the Chicago river.

Cant say enough good things about this business. While the facilities are not exactly handicap accessible, they did everything they could to make it work. My partners mother is in a wheelchair as she cant move the right side of her body since having a stroke. Gio was very accommodating to our group and helped us get her into the boat no problem! We also arrived 30 minutes late for our reservation, but they still allowed us the full 2 hours that we had reserved.The boat itself was perfect. Very easy to drive - although it goes extremely slowly, so you have to be aware of your surroundings and make sure you can get over in time to allow the larger boats to pass. We werent trying to go speed boating, so it wasnt a big deal to us. Be aware that going west on the river, you go a little faster than coming back east. Unfortunately we didnt plan accordingly, so we werent really able go very far up the river towards the lake before we had to head back.If youre like me and youve done the architecture boat tours a million times, consider doing this instead. Its cheaper per person than a lot of boat tour companies, you can bring your own booze, and you get to play your own music. We will definitely be back here then next time we have out of town visitors...and we will probably even drag our local friends out here as well.

Hidden gem in the city! easy to find, boat was comfortable, easy to navigate, covered and clean. Great activity that we did with our 3 young children. Cool way to see the city from a safe space.

We had an amazing time this weekend with the Electric Boat company! The boat was super easy to drive and conveniently located (Marina City location), we rented for a Bachelorette party and loved every minute of cruising on the river. Big thanks to Gio on helping us get situated and Ron for letting us continue the party on the dock afterward. If you want to be on the water in Chicago, this is a must try!

Fun experience. Took my parents on the river to celebrate their anniversary. Theyve lived in Chicago all their lives and never been on the river. It was fun. The boat was very easy to drive for my first time. Definitely plan to go again. We had the boat for 2 hrs but 3 hrs wouldve been better to see more.

For starters, the customer service was consistently good, beginning with the very first phone call. My party had a wonderful time and our Captain, John, was great! The boat (and Marina location) was perfect for what we needed and prices were reasonable. Id book again with this company without hesitation.

If your visiting Chicago or just want to have a little get together this is the way to do it. The sights on the river are gorgeous. We rented an electric pontoon boat for a 2 hour sunset cruise and had a captain drive us around. Everyone kept commenting how much fun they had on the boat cruise. We loved our red retro boat, and we’ll be back with a larger group to try the round boats with a table. Helpful service. Helpful safer video in advance. Convenient and cool location to cruise from. The retro boat was slow and chill, which was good for two moms and two young girls.

This is the 4th time we have rented an electric boat from Chicago Electric Boat Company, and we always have a blast! We had the smaller Duffy with 7 people frim 8-10pm, and were able to see Art on the Mart as well as the Navy Pier fireworks! The girl behind the front desk was super nice, and Austin, who trained us on what to do was great as well. Our only complaint is that the bathrooms were flooded and smelly, so I had to leave my phone at the front desk to use the key to the employee bathroom 1 floor up. Not their fault, and hopefully this will be resolved soon!

Easy to reserve and easy to get checked in. Simple to drive and lots of fun for me and my guests esp. it being BYOB. We would definitely do it again.

I rented the 10-person pontoon boat for my family. It was nice, but it was the slowest vessel out on the river. We were passed by almost every kayak. I would recommend booking for a longer time if you want to get anywhere/see anything, or if you want a pontoon, dont book an electric one. There were points we wished we had oars so we could keep the thing moving.

The boat was in great shape and very easy to drive. We rented it for my daughters 16th bday. It was a birthday to remember, she loved it!

We had a great time! Kevin at the rental location was fantastic. We took out Shirley which is one of the smaller boats for four folks. Kevin explained everything before leaving, made sure my kids had life jackets securely on, went through all of the procedures and made all of us very comfortable. Upon return Kevin was there helping guide us back into the slip. Great stuff and highly recommend!!!

We had an awesome time! Driving our 18 ft boat rental was pretty straightforward and a total blast! We went on Sunday mid day and there wasn’t a whole lot of boat traffic on the river, which made our experience a lot more enjoyable. Customer service was great, the orientation for driving the boat was short and sweet, very clear and easy to understand. The views of the city from the boat are spectacular. I can’t wait to do this again!

Renting a donut boat and cruising the North Branch is the river was so much fun! Janel made our check in a breeze and V made sure we were ready for a safe and fun adventure. We had four adults and four kids on our boat and everyone had a great time. Highly recommend!

The crew at Chicago Electric Boat was great leading up to and the day of our boat rental. We took Shirley out, a 4-person retro boat, and a real beaut. She only went so fast but was a great vessel. We did a two-hour rental which was plenty of time to go up and down the north/south branch (not all that far north) and to the locks and back.

What a fabulous experience with family and friends renting a Duffy/donut boat provided! The staff of Chicago Electric Boat offered knowledge, help, and reassurance with our first rental. Lauren provided expert advice and instruction. We would suggest better signage outside the Rockwall on the River venue stating Chicago Electric boat company. We appreciated having a free space to park. We will attempt to find time to rent here again this season. We did a 2 hour tour but may opt for a longer rental next time to see if we have time to get closer to downtown. We still got some fantastic views!

We had an awesome experience with Chicago Electric Boat company. We did a 6 person Duffy boat and captained it ourselves. The booking experience was super smooth and easy, and not to mention very reasonably priced. It was easy to drive and we were able to bring food and drinks with us which made it even more fun...they even gave us a cooler and we were able to buy a bag of ice from the marina. The staff was awesome (special shout-out to Izzy who was our crew person helping us launch and re-dock). Definitely recommend and will be going back!

We had a great time cruising with our captain, Corey! The boat was nice and Corey was friendly, fun and experienced. Im not giving 5 stars since the boat wasnt ready at our reserved time. But we did get our full 2 hours on the boat - Corey made sure of that!

The place was easy to find and the staff did a great job. The only reason Im giving this 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because we waited practically an hour after our original board time to get on. Then once on the boat it quickly slowed down to the slowest pace it could go. The last 2 points arent exactly the companies fault but at the same time it is. I was given 50% off which did ease my aggravation. I will be using the service again and I hope my next experience I can update this post to 5 starts. Love the concept and Im sure this company will do great during Chicagos hot and humid summers.

What fun! Cruising on the River! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The donut boat is easy to operate. We saw loons, egrets, ducks, turtles: who knew there was so much nature on the Chicago River?? Highly recommend checking this out.

Paid for 3 hour boat ride. Selected the Pontoon boat. Great experience. Definitely recommend booking right before the sunset going into the night. The view were like no other, our own boat in the Chicago River! Boat was easy to maneuver although it needs to be steady. The less movement on the steering wheel the better. Their website always has promo codes. I recommend buying food or snacks and enjoying it on the boat.*BUT* I don’t feel like there are enough pictures for the boats, I was a bit disappointed the Pontoon has a seat separated for the person driving. The other boats have a shared seat next to the person driving.

What a fun time! We had a wonderful experience. We rented the retro boat for 2 hours from the Rockwell on the River location. Very easy to find and parking was extremely easy and Free!! No one in our group had ever driven a boat before but that was no issue at all. Once you get a feel for the boat and the River, it’s a breeze! We were able to bring food and drinks on board and eat and drink very comfortably; there were 4 of us on the retro boat. Very relaxing cruise while listening to our preferred music! It’s so amazing to see our city from the River! Also, why are people so extremely nice on the River?! Such a pleasant surprise! We are already planning another cruise with a few more people and for a longer time frame! We can not wait! Book your cruise fellow Chicagoans!

My family had a great time on the water, as we always do. Marissa was extremely helpful towards us, and answered every question I had. We rented for an hour, and when having fun, the time seems to fly. My only negatives were, I had to sign a second waiver upon arrival, which I already signed when reserving the boat (Same waiver). A little pricey for the time rented, again, we only reserved an hour. I get it, its a business, but just a little pricey. Other then that, it was a beautiful day, and my family enjoyed our time on the water. Oh, I forgot to mention, we reserved a, Doughnut boat, very smooth in the water. Over all, we had a good time.

The Chicago Electric Boat trip was the perfect way for our family to celebrate a special birthday. From the 7 year old to the 70 year old we loved every minute of cruising. Lots to see with other boaters and the magnificent city of Chicago. The staff was helpful and friendly getting us started and at the conclusion of our trip.

We picked up a donut boat at Rockwell on an early weekday afternoon. It was absolute heaven for our family of four! It’s not especially scenic at this point in the river (you see the skyline, but it would take a couple of hours to get to downtown). We loved that it was not crowded and had a smooth, reasonably paced ride for a family with small children. The crew were super friendly and helpful, boat was clean and comfy.

Really great experience. Took five min to check in and get the boat. The guys were super relaxed and made everything pleasant. Half way through we were having such a great time that we called and asked to book an extra hour. They accommodated us without any issue. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will for sure be renting from these again in the future.

We had a great time on the river in a little 4-person vintage boat, Gladys. We took a picnic from Eataly. You are in the middle of the city but it feels like your group is alone. Easy to navigate! I just wish we could have gone farther north. But so glad we did it!

Had a great time with our rental! We got the donut boat for 2 hours on a Sunday at 11am in August.Recent high winds had broken the boat umbrellas, so we got a bit hot in the second hour, but we were prepared with sunscreen!The boat was easy enough to drive, and there wasnt much river traffic at all.We didnt take advantage of the cooler they offer or anything, as we had brought our own. They provide a Bluetooth speaker, which was nice!All around a good experience, Id book again!

We had a great experience with CEBC. We were assigned the Lovely Rita which seats 12 (there were 10 of us) and rented for 3 hours. It was our first experience as a group to ride along the river and we enjoyed every minute! Our party had plenty of room, not only for ourselves but for food and bev as well. Although we didnt opt to have a staff member drive us around, we were treated so well by the staff. Our guide in and out of the dock was Matt and he was great to work with. Highly recommend everyone (resident or tourist) to take a trip along the river and see the city from a different perspective at your own pace!

We rented a boat Saturday night fronm 4 to 6. A huge rain storm caused a delay, but your company moved us from a pontoon to a large electric boat so that we could stay covered as the rain subsided but continued to drizzle. It worked out great and Austin was helpful, efficient and easy to work with. Thanks for a very enjoyable ride which could have been ruined by the rain,

This is the most fun I’ve had in a very long time. Boats were simple enough to drive and instruction by staff were clear and concise. We lucked out and had the most beautiful day. Within our 2 hours we got to see navy pier and head to China town and back.

This experience was so much and executed perfectly by the staff! We did a 2 hour rental for my friends birthday surprise party and everyone had a blast. Right amount of space for 6 people on the boat. As we were entering the boat a bottle of wine fell out of someones bag and the staff was helpful and understanding when we were cleaning it up. 10/10 would do it again!! Im glad I booked this cruise for my brothers Bachelor Party. The web site made driving the boat sound incredibly easy, and it was. Not a speed demon by any means, but perfect for cruising through downtown, admiring all of the awesome buildings. Those same buildings provided a fair amount of shade to go with the breeze, so even on a mid 80s Chicago day we werent baking out there. DO IT!

Great time on the Chicago River...we even had a native Chicagoan with us who loved it! Weve taken tours, and enjoyed them, but it was great to be able to go at our own pace, in our own boat. Plenty of power to get around, even down by the locke where its windier.

The boat worked well and in two hours we were able to completely around Goose Island and back. However, due to a misplaced boat key, our departure was delayed 30 minutes and we did not get the boat we had signed up for. All in all, a pleasant but delayed little trip.

This company is very straightforward: easy to book, excellent service, good quality boat, safe, CLEAN, and reasonable prices. We did the 18ft picnic type boat on the Chicago River (from Marina City) and it was perfect for what we needed: you can bring your own food, BYOB, they pointed out all the safety features and life vests (and put a toddler size one on my niece), had easy-to-hookup Bluetooth with clear speakers so we could play music, tables in the center with cupholders, and the one we rented is self-driving (no captain or captain fee necessary). There were 8 of us and that gave us ample space for our cooler and bags. We didn’t use it but I did note that they also have ice (for sale?) but can lend you mini coolers for free. We went on Labor Day so the River had its usual hustle and bustle of kayaks and larger tour boats but everyone is going slow so it’s not overwhelming. We had a lovely time and made a great memory.

Fair price for a unique experience. Staff was awesome, Gio was our guy helping us out. He was awesome, knowledgeable, and incredibly fun. Would recommend to friends in town for the weekend or someone like me who’s lived here and never been ON the river.

Maya helped us. The boat was easy to drive, scenery was beautiful and the two hours we booked were perfect. If you want to see Chicago from a perspective most don’t get to, definitely worth every penny.
