My husband and I have used Trapmasters for years however we have had to stop using them because they will not stand by their work or follow up.  The work that Trapmasters has completed for us in two properties over 10 years includes, filling a hole in a vertical grey water line, replacing toilets, replacing gaskets in our standing showers, installing new sinks, doing every bit of plumbing for a new basement bathroom, cutting in an ejector pit, fixing an ejector pit pump, digging and connecting a new grey water line from our home to the city line, closing a main grey water line permanently, snaking and dropping a camera through our plumbing lines out to the road and replumbing every grey water line to go from one side of our house to the other.  We are extremely unlucky when it comes to plumbing, but that was fine because we had great plumbers.  We knew almost every plumber on staff, and we enjoyed tipping them individually for their extra efforts on our property. We purchased a new (to us) home in Valpo October 2016 and found out after closing that the main grey water line away from the house had broken and settled delivering our water back into our basement.  This line went under our driveway.  To remedy the problem, we had all of the grey water rerouted from the south end of the house (at basement floor level) to the north (at chest height level) – a new grey water line was dug from the side of our home to the main line at the street.  The only bummer about this was that we knew when we decided to finish the basement an ejector pit would need to be installed (lifts water from basement floor into exiting line).  Fast forward to a year and a half later and we decided to finish our basement.  We hired Trapmasters to come out and install the ejector pit for the etched in bathroom and put in the later lines for the basement toilet and basement sink.  We needed all of their work to be complete before the drywall was installed.Fast forward 3-4months, basement is complete, and the ejector pit pump stops working.  Causing water to run out of the ejector pit in the unfinished portion of the basement into the newly finished portion.  Trapmasters comes out and informs me that the float was caught on congealed fat.  So, after installing the ejector pit the plumbers took the kitchen sink and dishwasher off of the grey water line and had it drop into the ejector pit, which they never needed to do as it had never been a problem on the regular grey water line out of the house, but additionally they failed to inform us as homeowners that this was done.  (To be transparent, I was not supremely careful with fat off meat up until this point.  I was draining the vast majority into the garbage but didn’t wipe pans clean of fat before washing them in our sink or dishwasher obviously that happens now.)  This is by far the most egregious offense, there are other issues, but we have lived around them, but this one is incredibly frustrating.  Mostly because we cannot fix it.  The owner of Trapmasters argues (aggressively) that he cant fix it because that line needs a drop (which this cannot be true because it left our home perfectly fine for nearly two years prior to the ejector pit being installed) and now that the basement is finished the plumbing is extremely difficult to get to likely requiring the drywall to be cut out to fix the line and “we will not fix your drywall”.Lastly the owner has been very challenging to communicate with.  We have called and talked to him directly and he is verbally aggressive – which means I am now too intimidated to have him in our home, but that doesn’t matter anyway because he has ghosted us every time with “I’ll have to get back to you”, “I’ll call you in an hour”, and “I’ll call to schedule something with you in the next couple days”.  He never calls back.  We will now have to hire two companies to fix this and a few other problems he left us with, a plumber and a drywaller.

On recommendation from my parents, I hired Trapmasters to install a tank less water heater after our last one died. They were fast at coming by and giving us a quote as well as getting us scheduled. They were quick and to the point as well as the best quote. This was in comparison to another plumbing company who quoted us double the price for the same water heater and were less than truthful about several different aspects. It is refreshing to have a job done with no hassle. Job well done Trapmasters!

Had a few major gas leaks that needed fixed ASAP so I could move in.. They were there when they said they were going to be and the guy was very knowledgeable and explained what he was doing. Wore a mask and shoe protectors! Did exactly what he said he was going to do and was in and out in a couple hours. I would recommend this company and will put them at the top of my list of plumbing contacts!

Fantastic experience with this company. Had a serious drainage problem on Sunday, but was manageable with minimizing water use. Called them and left a message. Had the option to call a second number they provided if I was experiencing a plumbing emergency, but I did not consider mine an emergency. My backup was limited to my laundry room floor drain which is in my basement and has a smooth cement floor. They called me first thing the next morning and had two great guys out here in a few hours. Great guys, great work and reasonable price. I’ll definitely be recommending to everyone and calling for all my future plumbing needs.

And we have had some strange requests, thats for sure, but they always do what needs to be done, have a very quick response and are fair on prices. I use them and recommend them highly!

Edit: Worked with the company a 2nd time and equally impressed this time as well!!!Kenny was AWESOME!!! We have old, clay pipes that have cracked and let the roots in over the years, which leads to a back-up of water here and there over the years. After dealing with several plumbers over the last few years, I will ONLY call Trapmasters and request Kenny from now on. He was professional, knowledgeable, quick, and gave amazing preventative maintenance tips along with explaining the pieces and parts of my homes unique (and annoying) pipe system that have left previous plumbers befuddled.E

Called Trapmasters Plumbing for septic leak in crawlspace. Owner Brian, I believe came out to inspect. I explained I had outlet side of septic repaired aprox. 6-7 yrs. ago, (in middle of winter) for $2500. Now the inlet side was leaking ( in crawlspace, through foundation block, under slab- ( addition breez-way), onto house. Septic is 50 yrs.old. Brian asked if I ever thought about getting new septic, I said Yes, have considered. He then said he would hate to take $2500 from me, to repair leak. Recommended new septic, said leach field was leaking and bad. First step he said was to get a soil test, at a cost of $400, to determine what type of septic system I needed. I explained that if I needed an expensive mound system, that I would not do. Brian Knew a Soil Technician who would perform test. Had done and sure enough results led to a mound system. Have not heard from Trapmasters since. Now I live in unincorporated area, with clay soil.To my recollection nobody has a mound system on my street. Have had two neighbors put in new systems-no mounds. I’m not sure if we fall under a grandfather clause; or if city would ever run pipes down my street. Now I believe when house was built 50 yrs. ago, a permit was needed. Soil Technician explained the soil could be different on other side of street?, hard to believe, but appeared professional. Got copy of test which is good indefinitely, unless soil is disturbed. Brian also had Inspector come out, and he too recommended a mound system. To summarize, I had a professional plumber fixed inlet side of septic, for under $600. Owner of Trapmasters never even went in crawlspace to inspect leak. Wanted the good for himself, when all I needed at time was to fix leak in crawlspace and stop sewage water puddling in crawlspace. $400 for a soil test, and no follow-up done, seems obvious to me. Two plumbers, $30 in materials, one simple leak fixed but for the other, a leaky faucet, they couldnt get parts for and its still leaking. Bill: $555. Disappointing and pricey.Updates: 1) I appreciate that the owner reached out with an apology for being overcharged and a check for the overarge. 2) I contacted Moen, the faucet manufacturer, got the part and replaced it.

On the day of my moms funeral, they were on top of it when I came home and my water heater was leaking. The old one was under warranty and i couldnt find the paperwork (they didnt install the first one). Brian took the time to reach the vendor and get me a brand new one for free instead of trying to make more money by selling me one. I still was charged labor of course, but he saved me a thousand dollars. Thank you Brian. Your staff was great too!

Called them to fix a gas line leak. originally told them that the elbow was faulty as per nipsco. Came out, took apart elbow, and just retaped and doped it using same parts. also supposedly pressure tested line at 30psi and it held. nipsco came out and found the line was still leaking. paid $300 for a service that was not rendered.

We were renovating a hotel and had another plumber handling the majority of the work and they became very unreliable and Trapmasters jumped on to knock out some critical work on a short time frame and even had to deal with work hours issues that popped up last minute by the hotel. Id highly recommend this company over the other 2 companies we used in Chesterton.

Septic replacement-- they explained every step of the process....soil testing, govt regulations, field installation, inspections, everything. Guys were very friendly and professional. Not always the easiest guys to get a hold of but I chalk that up to them being busy/in demand, anytime I sent Brian an email I got a reply by the next morning. Going to try and get an estimate from them to do my kitchen next.
