The ambience is very pleasing as you walk in. I have stayed at this hotel before maybe 5 yrs ago so I knew what to expect. We received our keys and it was around 5:30 for our check in. As soon as we walked up to room, the door was cracked, we said Hello to check if someone was in the room or possibly late house keeping. Unfortunately the bed was unmade and dirty towels at the doorway. We went back downstairs of course to report our findings. The front desk clerk called someone over the walkie to confirm what we had just witnessed. My guest and I had a seat right near the counter and we over heard her questioning whether or not room service had cleaned the King room for the day. She asked the gentleman over the walkie if he could tighten up the room right quick because she wasnt sure if she had any other King rooms to offer us. I explained to her we were tired from a 5 hr drive from Baltimore and please give me a clean room asap. She gave me another room and said she would deal with that tragedy later and hopefully the next guest wouldnt arrive any time soon. They also gave us 2 $10 cards for the bar in the hotel. We used it for expensive bottle of water and Lemonade because unfortunately my guest and I do not drink alcohol.

This is a great hotel if you are looking for a comfortable and stylishly modern room. Think European style and amenities. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom has a shower stall, not a tub with a shower head. The shower has containers on the wall for bulk shampoo and body bath. If you dont like or trust those containers, make sure to pack your own shampoo.The hotel staff were friendly, as I would expect from any Marriott property.

At first glance the hotel looks nice. Great color choices in the lobby and room. Bathroom was clean so no complaints there. But during our 3 night stay, we noticed a bunch of flies. On one night alone, my wife killed 8 gnats and one flying ant. It really bothered us when trying to read or watch TV on the bed, the gnats would land our my face/lips/eyes. Theres also some gross stains on the sofa which made us hesitant to sit or even put our stuff on top. In the middle of the night the room gets so hot because the AC turns off so we woke up pretty sweaty each morning. In one of the elevators, theres a sign that says caution ⚠️ slippery when wet, but the elevator floor is more sticky than wet or slippery.

The AC units are busted and staff seem unaware. Tried four separate rooms, each had a unique error code and a whole bank of error codes filling up their mx log. From controller issues, to phase power issues. Maintainable tried emptying a water bin in the ceiling and a clean filter, no dice.Rooms were of substandard cleanliness especially the bathroom, a paste like substance lines the grouted tiles, almost like toothpaste (again multiple rooms)Staff was patient calm and collect for this, though I dont think they grasp the depth of the errors.You can give a hotel a facelift, change its name and try to make a sophisticated lobby, even the rooms have a unique, cool layout...but in the end its just an ancient building with some foundational work that has to be done, instead of a fancy set of veneers.

My wife and i checked in and got a room, the hallways to the room are very dark and dingy. Our room smelled so bad, there was black hair on the toilet, dog food in the crusty corners of the room, and when we opened the “curtain” as it was pretty much the only lighting we had, we saw people maybe 5 feet away in the hallway that could see right into our room. The air was awful and the fridge didn’t work so we kindly asked if there was another room that was maybe a little better. they gave us another room where the air was a little better but the room really wasn’t much better. The doors to the room are extremely heavy and we heard them slamming super hard all morning after waking us up. If you like staying in fairly nice/ decent hotels this one isn’t for you. if you’re desperate for a night it’d prob be fine. just smells and really isn’t nice. we went for a getaway and i was very displeased, however the area is good!

The service is bad.When I got there the shower door was not clean. The shelf was dusty.They were notified at 630 am the toilet was stopped up..it took 4 hours to get that fixed. The person left toilet paper chunks and water all over the floorI requested room cleaning..after waiting a until the next day...The cleaning folks came in and didnt do anything but put towels and sheets in the room.I have reservations for the end of the month and i will be cancelling that to stay somewhere else.

Staff was good, but the rooms are not as comfortable as I wouldve liked. I stayed for 3 weeks and only had 1 maid service. The rest of the time I had to go to the front desk for everything...coffee, ice, towels, microwave. Beds are comfortable. My shower leaked from the door onto the floor. There was constant construction on the elevator. Again...staff was good, but there are better places for the same money.

The hotel is very much over price, loud parties in the lobby, thin walls where you hear other guest. Theres no where to hang your clothes, no dressers or closets. The power went off for over 5 hours, leaving no TV, air conditioner. My food went bad. The concession stand was well over price. 3 dollars for a candy bar. Ill never go back again

Positive: the bed was comfortable Negative: I hated it. I hated the size of the room - too small, the sparseness of the decor - one bed, one rolling office chair and a bench and that was it! I hated the open bathroom plan. The whole thing was cheap and tacky. I will never go back to Aloft again.

Positive: Hotel was in a good location for us. Area seemed safe and clean. Plenty of parking. Hotel was overall well maintained/attractive and seemed like it had been recently remodeled. Negative: Hotel seemed understaffed and I saw several examples of careless management around the property. Mattress looked damaged in my room and covid was obviously being used as an excuse for just poor service. Not a real well run house overall.

- Place is ok if youre traveling light, if I have a toddler or young children I would be worried about their safety.- gym is not that great. Water filter in the gym was blinking yellow for at least 5 days. No AED available (empty closet for a while).- shower head loose.- water leaks from under the shower door. Modern design but mismanaged from checkin to checkout. For the price they charge go elsewhere. Showers leak and filled bathroom area. Stayed with a group and many had same experience. No trash cans or Ice buckets in room. Offered ice in plastic bad that also leaked. Pot smokers next door filled our room thru shared door. Lids for coffee not even close to fitting causing spills and burn.

When we check in on Saturday the room smelled like Mildew, dirty stains in the carpet and on the chair.The lady said she would find another room for us which it never happened. When they sent a person to the room he stated it smell like the Lysol I been spraying, he couldn’t smell the mildew. Next they said they will have someone to come and clean the room. Later that night after returning to room the air conditioning was not working at all they lady on duty gave us a box fan for the room. On Monday, we check out asking for the manager and left my phone number and email. I still have not got a call or email and I called today 3/30 only to get a full voice mail for the manager phone line.

The people are very friendly and helpful. The pool is small, indoor, heated, and clean. Nice breakfast and snack options in the lobby. My issues are compared to other alofts, this is the worst I have stayed at for three reasons. First, the bathroom door in the room doesnt close. Second, no perks for Bonvoy members or goodie bag for the dog. Third, when the room smelled strongly of bleach after it was cleaned and there was no way to get fresh air in. With some updates, this could be as great as the other alofts I have experienced.

While the staff was pleasant I cant say my stay was the best. There was no microwave in the room. Basic TV was horrible. The thermostat didnt work, the shower was awesome but the bathroom overall setup I personally didnt like. Then the view wasnt the best. There were so many things that werent available because of covid it took away from the full experience. Having to call to schedule pool/hottub and fitness room time was blah. Sure the bar was open but the prices 😕. I feel I should have paid $85 at best a night but thats just me.

If I could use one word to describe aloft, it would be “raggedy”. We had plumbing issues the first day we stayed. The sink was leaking and we had to call the front desk. The next day, the toilet was clogged. The water pressure in the shower was extremely low and the water took minutes to get hot. In addition, the room was 505.74. My card was charged $730 over the course of my stay. Later, it was explained that this is Marriott’s policy with their authorization fees. When I called to address this issue, I was placed on hold twice by the same representative. This representative asked me if I had ordered anything from the snack bar and when I said no, he abruptly forwarded the call to a manager who he knew was not going to answer the phone because he wasn’t there. I left a voicemail for the manager and he hadn’t gotten back to me so I called the next day. The next day the manager was able to explain what the additional charges were. Overall the hotel looks nice but it has its fair share of issues.

This is not my first stay here but it will be my last. I have been unhappy since I walked through the door to check in. The guy at the desk didn’t have the common sense to see that I had already book through a third party and charged my card again. The room I booked online was not given to me, there is no supervisor here to oversee problems. Which I find as an issue, how do you leave someone unattended that has no authority for an entire business. So, neither of my issues have been addressed nor have I been help. The ac does not work, at first I thought it was just that one room last time I stayed but here I am again with the same problem. And they had the nerve to charge the price that they do. This place is equivalent to staying at a motel 6. NEVER AGAIN I can’t even get a goodnight sleep.

The room stayed an uncomfortably warm for two days of our stay, there was no microwave, the mini-fridge barely kept our food cool, our first night we couldnt shower because the water was brown, the decor was supposed to be upbeat and modern but instead it was BLACK and made the hotel feel WEIRD AND CREEPY. On our final night we finally got some cool air in the room but when we arrived back from our sons wedding we found the TV on the floor as if someone had been in our room. We received soiled towels twice. The water pressure was extremely low. There was a notice on the elevator doors saying if youre not staying 7 days or more, housekeeping would not come to the room. We had to request cleaning supplies from the front desk to clean the room ourselves and we had to get fresh towels from them as well. If I had known this beforehand, I would not have booked this hotel. The only thing about this stay that was good is the comfortable bed. This stay was a disappointment to say the least. I paid over $500. for 3 nights and it was not at all worth it. I will not return. This hotel should close until they are able to handle safety precautions and standards for a pandemic.

Worst experience ever!! My family and I stayed at the Aloft in Chesapeake, VA during the week of Thanksgiving. We drove 18 hours from Texas and checked into the hotel. Upon checking into our rooms we observed the refrigerators to be on the floor under the bathroom sink..very sanitary. My refrigerator had dints in it as if someone had kicked it down a flight of stairs. There was NO microwave in any of the rooms. Mind you this is the week of Thanksgiving plus COVID going around. We had to go ALL the way down stairs to the lobby to warm up food. The entire fourth floor smelled like Marijuana!! I’m talking about morning, noon and night it smelled like Marijuana... I’m a Parole Officer so this was a problem for me. The air conditioner did not work in my room. It stayed 73 degrees in my room no matter what I adjusted it to. So I’m in a hot hotel room that smelled like Marijuana during the week of Thanksgiving...pleasant. No one came to clean our rooms or take our trash. On the second night we requested more towels to take showers and we were told that no towels were available until the next morning. Yea sure I’ll just go to bed dirty in my hot Marijuana smelling room...the carpet was dirty in the hallways. I observed several dogs which is fine. But if the carpet was dirty i’m sure no one has been cleaning the rooms after the people with dogs check out. Needless to say we were supposed to stay four nights. We checked out a whole day early due to the hotel being that bad and got on the road to head back to Texas. First and last time staying at an Aloft.

My husband and I stayed at the Aloft Chesapeake for two weeks in July 2020. Overall, the hotel itself is decent, but the amenities and service received is severely lacking.First, Ill start off with a few of the pros:-Convenient location-there are lots of restaurants and shopping within minutes-The rooms are updated and internet works great-They are pet friendly! The hotel allows dogs of all sizes and has a very reasonable rate. There are also plenty of sidewalks to walk your dogs and there isnt a lot of traffic on that particular road-When interacting with the staff, they were friendlyNow for the cons:-When we first checked in, we were provided no information about the amenities offered or the locations (breakfast, laundry, ice machine, etc.)-The elevator had a broken button the entire two weeks and never repaired-The stairwell cannot be accessed from the ground floor. It leads directly outside. This is frustrating when you have pets or are trying to social distance and are required to get on the elevator.-There are no ice machines throughout the hotel. You have to track down the staff and have them get you a bag of ice-There are no microwaves in the room-The refrigerator is VERY small. It was hard to fit anything in there-There is only ONE washer and dryer for the entire hotel-The areas where the employees were working constantly smelled like weed-Both lobby bathrooms were extremely dirty and never had any toilet paper-There was never any fresh coffee or hot water in the mornings. It was either empty or cold from the day before. When we asked about the coffee, we were told they would bring some out...but that never happened-We were not told that our room would not be cleaned during our stay unless we were there for at least a week. Since we were there for two weeks, we asked the housekeeping why our room wasnt cleaned and were told, I didnt know if you were still in there, so I didnt bother coming in.Although these things may seem trivial, they contributed to a more negative experience for me. Bottom line, if you are staying in the area for just a night or two it is probably a good spot. If you are traveling with large pets this may also be a good option. However, if you are going to be there for an extended period of time I would stay somewhere else with more amenities.

Staff did not project confidence in themselves or the hotel. Room was beaten up with deep gouges in one wall and stains on the furniture. I was charged for upgraded internet, even though it should have been free. I eventually had the charges (twice for some reason) reversed. My first time using Aloft, unfortunately, it did not live up to the Marriot name.

Wish I could give this place no stars. I booked a room that was available to sleep up to 5 people but thats not what I got. I was initially told that I could check in early over the phone, so I showed up early just for the lady at the desk to tell me I cant check in until 4. I come back at 4 and when I get to my floor theres a microwave on the floor in the hallway. I get to to my room to find out there is no microwave and the lights flickering and the refrigerator under the sink. The lady I dealt with wasnt pleasant and acting as if I was bothering her as if she had something else better to do. So since I did not matter, I check out and got my money back. I was told 5 business days so I will be making sure I get my money.

I travel a lot for work, averaging 6 or more overnight trips a month. This has been the best experience Ive had. Luckily I was traveling during their Live July Events season and was able to experience a incredible musician and a cake and sip event. The lobby was very clean and inviting as well as the staff. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The room was very clean and inviting as well. On the second night of my stay I ordered food from the bar and was very surprised how good it was. Although I was there for business, I like how they create a atmosphere where you dont have to leave the hotel at all if you are there on vacation with friends. The lobby has a bar, pool table, and is next to their outdoor hang out area with games. I think these amenities makes it convenient for group trips on nights where you dont want to venture out. I was very pleased with my stay and have already recommended this location to a number of people. Thank you Aloft Chesapeake! I travel a lot and it was a nice change to feel this comfortable at a hotel.

I booked a room for me and my girlfriend for the night before Valentine’s Day on booking.com. It did not say I had to be 21 to book it so I purchased the room. When me and my girlfriend got there last night even though I already booked the room the woman at the front desk told us we couldn’t stay in the room since I’m not 21. Keep in mind that I’m 20 and turning 21 in March. The woman was really rude to us.

Overall a pretty garbage experience. Once walking past the signs requiring a mask, none of the employees were wearing masks. In the week that we were there, I counted one employee that was wearing one. They offered no cleaning service, even upon request. On the list of services/amenities on their website, none of the ones we requested were available. I made a mistake by not paying the extra $25 a night to book a room that could be cancelled. The booking was nonrefundable, even with Aloft not providing services that they claimed to provide and blatantly disregarding public health directives.

I was impressed over the chic and upbeat decor and style. The layout of the room was really nice and spacious. The bathroom was contemporary and I really liked how the sink was separate from the bath itself. The lighting over the bed was a nice warm touch and the fact that Netflix was integrated into the big screen TV was a bonus! Its not the best but you get your moneys worth. The hotel staff is helpful but some staff members are not as enthusiastic as others. There is a VERY SMALL refrigerator and no microwave. Housekeeping cleanliness also varies. Some days the room is cleaned spotless. Other times it just gets tidied up. The TV is old and could use updating. The bar and happy hour food are convenient and good for what they are. Gym is lacking equipment and have VERY OLD cardio equipment. Overall a pleasant stay if you are in a business trip.

The hotel seemed to be falling apart. The hallways were dim (So scary), the pool deck area had 7 lights out and was so dark. The pool looked dirty, there were plumbing issues and you literally have to hold the handle down for a long time to flush every time. The mattresses were old and are of the most uncomfortable mattresses I’ve used at a hotel in a very long time. Hotels have to change mattresses every so often and I don’t think this hotel has since they opened in 2008. The hallways were also so cold and the windows had poor insulation. I would put this aloft in the same level of a red roof in or low level motel, and for that it is over priced. My experience was cold, dark, and itch because I felt gross being there. I didn’t feel comfortable enough to sleep without layers of clothes. The only great thing about this hotel is the staff. They were so friendly and a pleasure to chat with.

I went to Aloft for a date night. I really enjoyed the variety of activities this hotel offers for such a great price. We enjoyed the happy hour at the bar and ordered the wings which were good. The live music was fantastic and it was relaxing in the lobby lounge. To top it off they have a courtyard with a fireplace to keep you warm even in cold months. The indoor pool is also heated which I really appreciated. Dont recommend the breakfast. They had premade breakfast sandwiches that werent that tasty.

The wife booked a room for 1 night because of the lower price tag, but you get what you pay for. The shower head was almost unthreaded from the neck, with hardly any water pressure. The toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. The hallway lights looked like someone tried to put a fitted sheet on a chandelier. Overall the place is designed to cater to college kids on spring break with a tiny budget, but hey, it was better than sleeping in a parking lot.

I booked my wedding block through a third party website, but honestly my Aloft representative was amazing. They were so patient with me as I tried to keep up with my room nights. A hurricane hit during the arrival days of my guests, but the hotel was so accommodating to those who needed to make adjustments to their reservations. The rooms were gorgeous. The lobby was very modern and there was live music in the evenings. Honestly, it was one of the best hotel experiences Ive ever had.

Very nice and updated hotel. Lots of amenities, including a pool table. Love the bar in the lobby and they had a live band during my stay, however, I did not sit and watch. Nothing special about Aloft but does have a different room layout than most hotels.

Very nice place for the most part. Room was Ok, only issues I was totally irritated by was that they did not offer Room service, supposedly due to Covid. I understand that position, But next morning when I returned I was shocked to see no room service,nor clean Towels. I called office and after a brief lecture, I eventually had to walk to front desk to pick up towels. The thing I was mad or frustrated with is the fact that No where on the Hotel Web Page did it mention that there would be no room service.Even with Covid, they at least could have just dropped Towels off in a bag or something inside door.I would expect this type of service from a Cheap hotel, But not a premium Hotel such as this, Very unhappy with this Hotel .

Hotel was very nice. I stayed for 3 nights and every day the room was every day ! Fresh lemon water in the lobby and even a dog bowl for your doggy ! Live music every night (only thing I really didn’t like was it lasted until 10pm and I was on the second floor so I could hear it very clear )Will be staying again .

My wife, Hailey(boxer) and I stayed at the Aloft (Chesapeake, VA) over the 4th of July week. What a great experience. Weve made Aloft our home away from home. They are a pet friendly hotel chain. Our boxer Hailey loves all of the attention she receives at all of the Aloft weve stayed. Weve stayed at the Aloft in Chicago. IL. Clarksville, IN. and now Chesapeake, VA. Great Job Aloft

Always clean and trendy. Anyone whos been to an Aloft is impressed by the lobby alone. I do a lot of traveling both personally and professionally. This hotel brand never gives me an unwanted surprise. Im confident in inviting business and personal guests. Thanks Aloft! You always rock!

Hire respectable mature individuals to work your facility. Check in lacked quality and I felt discriminated against by my own people. Please do not think that because I am a person of color that I was accept the homegirl attitude. Treat people respectfully...think about how you or your mother would want to be treated. We are not friends...I am a customer and should be treated as such. One young lady was kind...the others should go. I wont be back to add my funds to their paychecks.

If you’re ok with sub par service, then you would be fine. IF you expect professionalism, respect, cleanliness, and your personal preferences to be acknowledged (no entering when do not enter sign is clearly hanging on the door) DO NOT STAY HERE! M concerns were so drastic, I have forwarded them to “corporate” with still no resolution to date. SUGGESTION to Marriott: DO BETTER vetting when hiring team members. Just filing the position with any Jo Blow has proven to be detrimental to your brand.

I got this room to simply sleep, and it was amazing. Bathroom was spotless, all my extra request were fulfilled. The bed was amazing, I sleeped like a wild toddler.Im totally coming back, and next time Ill have some fun, its a great environment there, lovely staff, Jordan at front desk is my favorite.

The staff was very friendly. Parking was good. Location was great. Lobby looked good but then I got to my floor. Carpet in the hall was badly worn and coming up. Walls needed to be painted. Room had a strange smell I could not place. In room safe did not work-asked for it to be fixed, never resolved. Toilet took 2 flushes each time. Bathroom sink drained slowly. Bedding was thin so I got cold throughout the night. Curtains did not fully block the light. Lots of noise. Website stated that this was a non-smoking hotel but smoking was allowed in the only outdoor space available. Outdoor space just had patio chairs spread out around a courtyard. This hotel reminded me of hostels that I have stayed at in Europe (which were nicer than this hotel) and not a boutique hotel.

I loved staying at Aloft Chesapeake. This was my first time staying at an Aloft hotel and I have to say I was very pleased. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. Unfortunately, I cant remember the guys name but he was wonderful! My room was very clean; the bed was SOOOOOOOO comfy. I have trouble sleeping but I slept ALL night the 4 nights I was there! There was live music the first night I was there, which I didnt expect, and they were pretty good! I didnt try the restaurant or bar but if Im ever there again I definitely will. Oh yeah... My second morning, they were cleaning the carpet (impressive to me) and it smelled so so good in the hallway.If youre ever in the Chesapeake area and are looking for a moderately priced hotel thats close to shopping and dining, with easy access to Interstate, try Aloft. You wont be disappointed.

The hotel was in a good area. Easy to get on the highway. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We brought our 2 small dogs and they were welcomed and there was a good sized grassy area outside for them. The room was clean and comfortable.

Thank you for charging my card and not the company card who placed me in this room and leaving me with a negative balance on my account which I now have to pay a fee to my bank because no one took the time to confirm which was the correct card to charge. Oh and as a consequence, I spent the night hungry since I had no money to get food. Great service.

A solid 4 ⭐️. Property is modern, intuitive and appropriately designed for the 21st century. However, I didn’t get to explore any of the amenities.Bed was comfortable, and room was modestly but appropriately appointed for this price point.Had the staff been more knowledgeable, professional, and more willing to help me I would have rated this hotel higher.I do feel like the elevators move incredibly slow and they were a bit dirty for me.Other than that, if I had to pick this location again, I probably would.

I love the look it like a little loft. I loved the beds super comfy. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. I will definitely stay again.
