I have been in counseling at Roots for 4yrs exactly. My family has had extensive experience with three of the therapists there, and all of us have benefitted greatly from each. It is a long term commitment for sure, as experiencing the benefits of therapy really does take some time (at least that’s been my experience). They’ve worked with me on sliding scale at times, and will accommodate printing a type of invoice that I can submit to insurance for some reimbursement as well. I definitely recommend this practice.

Roots Counseling Center itself seemed well run and organized.I was very thankful to be immediately offered an appointment. Initially, I didnt think much of it. Normally, one has to be patient and wait. Perhaps there is a reason why. When I arrived for my first appointment, I was promptly greeted by the therapist. His first words were, Hello, Im XYZ. How would you like to pay for this?In our initial interview, he went into great detail about payment, late fees, and late cancellations.During my three paid therapy sessions, we made small talk 10-20% of the time. When my third session ended, the therapist abruptly stopped and said, our time for this session is up; however, I do have time right after this if youd like to pay for another session.Reason for a 1 star rating*No rapport developed nor was there much attempt from the therapist*Concern for payment and selling sessions*Excessive information gathering to fill timeBased on my, albeit few, experiences, I do not recommend Mr. Ritchie Pruehs. Perhaps our personalities just clashed and he is actually a great therapist. Perhaps not.Full disclosure - former patient (name is to protect my anonymity and a reference to a movie in case you didnt catch it)

I LOVE THIS PLACE! They are the kindest people and have been very reasonable with their pricing of sessions during the pandemic. They have been offering me low price sessions and even some free sessions during this difficult time. Dont believe me? Go onto Roots Counseling Center Facebook page and you will see the post where they have been offering people in the community low cost or pro bono sessions during the pandemic. Im Not Sure about a lot of things, but I do know their desire to help the community is the strongest Ive ever seen than in any other business. Call them and see how they can help you, you may find yourself as surprised as I was by their generosity.

Unpleasant experience with a counselor there. It was super expensive, they dont file with insurance, and the woman kept huffing and acting like I was a waste of her time. Very rude or she just didnt hide her judgmental thoughts well. Complete waste of time and money and I felt terrible after the visit.

Caused my family more pain than help. The counselor was too young and inexperienced to help our daughter. We have more problems now than we had before. Try somewhere else!

Bucky Broadrick has been a great fit for some of my male clients. More than once, Ive heard follow-up comments like: being in Buckys group has been life-changing for me. Or hes a great therapist, down to earth, and easy to talk to. I appreciate having a colleague that I can confidently refer to, knowing our therapy is complimentary and helps clients on the path toward their authentic selves.

Our practice is a friend of Roots! We highly recommend them - they have been a great resource for the community and for our practice. I know a few of their counselors personally and can honestly say you will be in good care with them!

I havent had any interaction with any of the counselors here, however, this was my number one choice when I started my search for somewhere to go for therapy and counseling. I cannot afford oop costs for therapy and sadly they do not bill insurance companies, so this fact takes Roots completely out of my list of choices 😣 I simply cannot afford to pay oop. I hope one day they change this so myself and any others who may feel the same way can afford to utilize their services because I am almost certain this is a great place to go.

I’ve gone a couple times now to see a counselor here, and had been very hopeful as she was recommended by a friend. I should mention the friend had not actually been to her for counseling, but knew her family and so had recommended this young woman. I will not be returning. I understand you may at times find what your clients are saying to be boring, stupid, repetitive, or even annoying, but please young lady, for those of us who are more sensitive, refrain from rolling your eyes or audibly sighing during a session. I have not seen other counselors at The Roots, but on my limited experience I would not recommend this group.
