Sra Hawkey has an excellent command of Spanish and is responsive to the needs of her students. I have taken classes with her for two years or more now and I can see progress in my ability to understand, to speak and to read Spanish. She uses a variety of materials and it keeps our classes interesting and challenging.

I have enjoyed being a student of Madame Hawkey (Kimber) for about a year now. In fact, she was teaching me before we moved here officially. She gave me many tips about the area including some very helpful tip on restaurants and local libations. My knowledge of French has grown substantially since we began. I am now comfortable in conversational French and I am looking forward to my next trip to Paris. In addition to the language, she has provided invaluable tips on the culture.

I had some knowledge of basic French, but lacked confidence in speaking it. Kimber has been a great help in that regard - using real life situations and stressing proper pronunciation and accuracy. I really enjoy the time spent with her - even if it is online.

I love my Spanish classes with Kimber Hawkey. During the pandemic, we easily transitioned from in person classes to skype/zoom. Ive been a student for over a year and we meet once a week. She caters each class to my learning level and what seems to work best for me. We utilize multiple ways of learning: watching telenovelas, reading books, chatting about current events, and using a text book. She usually incorporates her own worksheets that shes created and learning techniques that have worked for her and other students. She also is good at keeping me accountable without making me feel bad when I forgot things! I love Kimbers positive energy. She is also really great about incorporating words that are relevant to my job (as a lawyer). She has different packages for payment. Ultimately, you get a lot of value for the money! Ive seen a lot of progress in the year that weve spent together. If you are like me, I wasted many years aspiring to improve my Spanish through online tools and phone apps, but I was never consistent. Nor was I actually learning how to speak the language. With Kimber, Ive vastly improved and am getting closer to my goal of fluency.

Kimber is a whirlwind of excitement when it comes to the language learning experience! She incorporates music, poetry, and (at times) even dialogues with her students in their target language about her beautiful garden while taking a stroll through it. The conversations are full of life, just like her!

I have been studying French with Kimber for a year and a half, first as part of a class at the local community college, and then as a private student. I started as a total beginner and am now able to carry on a conversation in French. She makes the subject so much fun! She is very flexible and adapts the lessons to the needs of the student, in my case an older woman who just wants to learn French for fun. Kimber is very knowledgeable and patient. As a senior learner, I frequently try to recall a word or grammar rule that Im sure I know, or did know at one time. Kimber very capably understands the difficulty and offers advice that is right on target. I have taken French lessons from teachers who are native French speakers. Frankly, I did not find them to be as effective as Kimber in identifying and overcoming learning obstacles.

I reached out to Kimber for French lessons before moving to Paris for three months a few years ago. I am so happy that I did! Kimber was practical, funny, engaging and confidence inspiring. I was a middle-aged woman with a few years of high school and college French under my belt, but without any ability to actually speak. Kimber helped me to access and to use what I knew. We practiced the real life situations that I would encounter. Kimber explained cultural differences and gave me context. She vastly exceeded my hopes and expectations for what I would be able to gain from twenty or so lessons in a fairly short time frame. I recommend her highly and without reservation.
