Skyline has been our go-to for tents for years. They provide excellent value in a business that requires a ton of effort to be really good. Helpful, collaborative and willing to go the extra mile to meet our sometimes very particular expectations. The installation team was, as always, prompt, efficient professional and, based on our observations, payed close attention to all safe construction practices. Great people who work hard to exceed expectations. Dont hesitate if you need a tent, just call them.Chris LilleyChief Human Resource Officer, Crutchfield Corp
Unbelievable that they are still in business. Rented 3 heaters for my daughter’s wedding for a tent at Pharsalia. Two men installed them while we were setting up the tables for the wedding. It was quite cold that day so the men asked us if we wanted them to turn on the heaters while we worked. I specifically asked if the heaters would run out of propane if they ran all day and into the night of the wedding and was assured there would be plenty of propane for all day and night. After about a half hour, as we were still setting up, the tent got really warm so my husband shut off two of the heaters and left the third running. At 6:00 pm when guests entered the tent, the third heater that ran all day was blowing cold air. My husband reset it and it ran warm for 10 minutes and froze up. Out of propane. So an entire third of the guests In the tent were freezing. That third heater had been added on to the contract the day before the wedding as we saw colder temperatures in the 30s were expected so I had written a separate check for $400 and handed it to the installers the day of the wedding. I had already paid Skyline $1275 for two heaters and bistro lights.Fast forward to day after the wedding, I e mail them and say we need to talk about the situation and I requested they not cash that $400 because that heater didn’t work. 24 hours goes by and no call. (side note: every time I called Skykine from the beginning they didn’t answer the phone and they NEVER, not ONCE returned a call)So the next day I call and miraculously Charlie Murray answers the phone (the main guy I had been working with throughout the process). I first mentioned that per my e mail I wanted to talk about the heater but never heard back to which he gave excuses about it being busy there etc... same thing he told me every time my calls weren’t returned. So he asks me to elaborate on what happened and I told him. Here’s where we went round and round for 15 minutes with him saying “ we gave you a functional piece of equipment with 7 hours of propane. Sorry our guys gave you bad information but we provided what we said we would.” My point was..YOUR PEOPLE told us to run it all day and night and it wouldn’t run out. I’m not a tent heater expert. How would I have known to do the opposite of what the tent company said we could do? I told him I didn’t want him to cash the check because his company needed to take some responsibility for the discomfort of our guests. I pleaded with him to look at this from a customer service perspective, to look at this from a reputation perspective, to consider how this impacted my guests I even asked “Does this sit right with you that a third of our guests were freezing because your guys gave us inaccurate information?”. I explained to him the amazing customer service we received from our other rental company where we had a glitch and they went out of their way to make it right. I talked to him about how I am I sales and I have to solve problems all the time that require making things right with customers. He would not budge. This is where it gets really crazy... finally I said is there a manager I could talk to that might be able to understand my perspective. After a hold of about 5 minutes, “John” came on the line and said “Look Charlie is working really hard to solve this problem but I just don’t see any way to resolve it,” To which I replied, “Charlie is not working hard to resolve this. I’ve already offered the solution and that’s to not cash that $400 check. Then I said “let me walk you through the situation”Johns exact words “ I already know the situation. If you put a stop payment on the check, we will take out a warrant and try to get out money. Thanks for calling”. CLICK. HE HUNG UP. A MANAGER hung up on a customer without ever listening to the customer. I have never in my 57 years experienced anything like that from a MANAGER. I called back and they wouldn’t answer. What? Are these actual adults?I have put a stop payment on the check. We’ll see how this goes. NEVER EVER get involved with these jokers.
Last year someone anonymously raised a last minute issue with the city about a tent my tenants had set up for a party. Skyline had all the permits, fire inspections and zoning regulations required so there ended up being no problem. The tenants ended up having a great party. I highly recommend them.
I just had a great experience this past weekend with Skyline Tent Company! We did a 30 diameter circular tent with lights for birthday party and it was great. The set-up was easy and I got compliments all night long about how great it looked. All of the people that I worked with were top-notch and very professional. They also helped with renting some tables which made everything so easy. I would definitely use them again when the need arises!
Freedom 4/24 had a fantastic experience with Skyline Tent Company. . A 35x45 Frame tent was used for a post-race space after Freedom 4/24s Run 4 Their Lives event, and it served its purpose well. All of the Skyline Tents staff was incredibly gracious and generous. They were extremely easy to work with, and the tent was great quality! Set-Up and Tear-Down was a very simple process, and the Skyline team worked with us on challenges we had with the location. Anyone in need of a tent should consider Skyline Tent Company as an option, you will not be disappointed!
As a wedding planner, I want the highest quality vendors for my couples. Sarah and the team at Skyline Tent Company provide the best in tenting services for our brides! Weve worked with them for the past few years and they are always professional, quick to communicate, reliable, and most importantly, provide the most beautiful tents for our events! We love working with the crew! Highly recommended!!
I have had Skyline tent do several events for me. Its always been great. They do a great job of showing up when asked, (even if its several days before the event), and have never had a problem or complained about having to carry everything several hundred feet to the area weve wanted. Very courteous and professional, and also very helpful in figuring out exactly what your needs are. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
I used Skyline for a surprise birthday house party for my wife and I cant say enough nice things about my experience. I was blown away and the entire process was easy, awesome and painless! I called Skyline and was put in contact with Liz (who is amazing btw). She set me up with a big, beautiful blue tent with white stars and one of those knightly long flags on top!! The Starry Tent also came with lights, clear plastic walls, space heaters, tables and chairs all for WAY LESS than I thought it would be. All in all, the party was a success, my wife was surprised and happy, my guests enjoyed themselves and were comfortable under the tent. When the party was over Skyline came back, picked everything up and left my lawn in perfect condition.I read the poor review below and I cant believe its talking about the same company and the same people because their experience was certainly NOT my experience. I recommend Liz and would gladly work with her again because she made an already special party that much more memorable through her dependability, professionalism and flawless execution. Shes a pro!
Skyline Tent Co was a pleasure to work with. They were friendly, dependable, and swift in getting our needs met for the community event that we hosted. Liz made our experience a wonderful one! I recommend them for your next event, you will not be disappointed.
This past weekend Skyline Tent Company led by Lee French, erected a 60 x 120 tent at Greencroft Club. He and the others were great to work with and knew exactly what we needed for a cool April night. From the planning stage to the evening of the event, they were profession, efficient, and corresponded quickly. Moreover, we used their event coordinator who took care of the tent details (temperature, walls, lighting, etc.) making our evening enjoyable. Their effort made the entire experience pleasant and a breeze which was important especially since I live in Tennessee.
Skyline is the best of the best! Their work is simply flawless. The Skyline team provided me with detailed proposals from the start that outlined what I would need for a beautiful sperry wedding tent and what my additional options could be. They explained to me exactly what was necessary to produce a wedding tent on its own -- and what our plan B would be for any design driven or weather required add-ons.Throughout the process, Skyline made it easy to plan -- from our event walk through to determine our tent placement all the way to the load-in the day before the wedding, Skyline was patient and precise. They are total experts. In the end, my tent was breathtaking and truly made the wedding! Thank you Skyline!!!
They were WAAAYYY overpriced, Amazon has the exact same tents 75% cheaper.... Did u hear me everything skyline had Amazon has 75% cheaper EVERYTHING!!!!! And no shipping cost! They are so overpriced its almost commicle, youd have to be an idiot to buy from these thieving people and the customer service is a joke.
We were very disappointed with Skyline Tent Company. We would not have given Skyline our business, however, they have an exclusive relationship with the venue where we held our wedding (Clifton Inn), and so we were forced to use them. The customer service was poor and the service overpriced (we did some research). In December, Skyline sent us an initial estimate for tents, lighting, and a dance floor. In January, we had an initial call with a Skyline representative to discuss the event. After Skyline sent us a revised estimate, it took the representative nearly a month to respond to some of the basic questions about the types of tents and lighting that Skyline offers. A Skyline representative eventually responded with a revised quote (leaving many questions unanswered) and a note that she would be leaving for a weeklong vacation the next day. During this time, we also noticed that Skyline had significantly increased the dance floor size, which also significantly increased the price. Options were never discussed with us. We also discovered that Skyline was charging significantly more than other similar companies in Charlottesville, and more than most companies we contacted in Washington, D.C. and New York. For example, 300 feet of bistro lights was going to cost us $900 at Skyline whereas other companies in Charlottesville charge $400-450. The price difference was similar for dance floor wash lights. We understand that quality and service may vary from vendor to vendor, but our experience did not meet our expectations for satisfactory customer service, much less the “superior service” that Skyline cites in support of its significantly higher prices. In the end, we asked to work with a different Skyline representative who was responsive. We managed to reduce the contract price by $2,000, by getting rid of a few items, and negotiating a reduced cost for the event lighting. Skyline reduced our lighting costs by 30 percent, which meant we still paid more money than if we had gone with another reputable company in town, but at least we were back in the ballpark of fair market value. Before bringing the negotiation to a close (working out terms of service issues), my husband spoke with one of the Skyline owners who was very defensive.Unfortunately, Skyline’s business practices reflected poorly on our venue. A number of venues seem to have a similar relationship with Skyline Tent Company including Keswick Hall, Afton Mountain Vineyards, Keswick Vineyards and others. Tents and lighting are an expensive part of a wedding budget, so please be warned of our experience. We are giving Skyline one star because the equipment was set up and it worked.
They are friendly folks and they know what they are doing.
Great
