Just had my first session with Carrie!! She’s such a wonderful person to talk to - made me feel super comfortable and welcomed during my session. I’ve had prior laser hair removal at a different location and maybe it’s because their machines are older, but that hurt way more than it did at Smooth Skin Laser. I honestly could barely feel the pain with their machine’s technology, and it was pleasantly surprising. Highly recommend!! :)

I had my third Skin Rejuvenation treatment today and am very pleased with the results to date. My skins texture is great and my fine lines are much less noticeable. I feel and look younger! I received many complements on my skin over the past several weeks. Dr. MacFarland is excellent at what he does, and is very patient aware of individual needs and constraints. I’ve been going to Smooth Skin Laser for several years. I’ve had great results for my underarm and bikini line. I just went in for my annual refresh today. The team is always so informative and friendly. And the touch up appts are so easy and fast. I was in and out in ten minutes.

I decided to purchase treatments for my underarms and we were able to do the first session right away! After just one session I have amazing results already. I had stubborn hair on my chin that I refused to get waxed because I refused to deal with it forever, plucking was okay but then that even got to be too much and I never knew if someone was looking at my chin. So, I called Smooth Laser went in for a free consultation, paid for my sessions (which is very reasonable, I thought for sure it was going to be expensive). Carrie was so awesome, I had a few of the other ones too, everyone was great!! But its finally gone- if youve been on the fence do it you will be happy!!! It wasnt painful and now I have no hair to be self conscious about!

A warning to anyone considering getting laser here (dont get (literally) burned like I did) –TL;DR. This place allows inexperienced technicians to operate their laser machinery. The technician assigned to me accidentally burned my lips, and now I might have permanent discoloration on my bottom lip. No fun.When I went to Smooth Skin last Fall to have laser hair removal done on my face, I was assigned a technician who was, by her own admission, still in training. I half expected an experienced technician to come in to supervise the session, but it ended up being just the two of us.The day after the session, I noticed a bit of irritation and discoloration on my bottom lip. A few days later, I had full-fledged sores on my lip (ouch!) that bled and made it difficult to eat, drink, and talk.Concerned, I went in to Smooth Skins office for a post-visit check-up. They told me that the technician in-training had accidentally crossed my vermilion border (lip line) with the laser device and burned my lip skin. The doctor on-site recommended that I put some Vaseline and Aquaphor on it to expedite the healing process. Everyone I talked to was polite about the whole thing, though not necessarily apologetic, but they didnt offer to refund the $200+ I paid for the botched session.The sores eventually went away, but five months later I stilly have noticeable whitish lines on my lower lip where the technician zapped me. Its strange that a laser place that so strongly emphasizes its commitment to professionalism would let an non-professional use dangerous machinery on a patient.

The staff is so friendly and sweet, but scheduling can be very difficult because appointments book up way in advance and results are about 50% of what was described at initial consultation after 5 sessions. I was really bummed with those results because of the price... definitely paid it thinking this would be permanent hair removal! Also, I had very different results with different technicians so expect variation. *treatment was not over 3 yrs as suggested in reply...?*

Everything was top notch at Smooth Skin Laser: the personnel (knowledgeable, honest, friendly in a very genuine way), equipment (very effective), package and pricing (very reasonable, and the 10% charge for followup appointments after the package was finished was sweet), location and office (convenient, beautiful and serene). The information I was given about what to expect was spot on. All my questions were answered. Appointments are easy to make and always start on time. It is hard to find a business that fills all these criteria as well as Smooth Skin Laser does. Bravo!

I love this place. They are very professional and do a great job individualizing your laser hair removal experience. So far I have had my bikini area, underarms, lower legs and face done. The difference is incredible. Being able to just hop into the shower, soap up and do my hair without worrying about shaving is a great feeling. The staff is very personable and I have really bonded with my technician Jan. I am going to have to find other areas to do just to go back in there and hang out with them again.

If I could rate this place 10 stars I would!!! I couldnt ask for a better team of women to help me with my hair removal. The office is so cozy - not at all like a doctors office!!! It is decorated so well and the vibe is very comfortable. The staff also helps to make it more comfortable. I am sure most people are uncomfortable showing how hairy they are - but this group really makes you feel like its no big deal. I have had all sorts of areas done on my body and never once have I felt squeamish at all. They are experts, do this all the time, and its obvious that they have seen it all and nothing bothers/offends them. The staff is also very friendly. Even though I wouldnt mind waiting because the office is so cozy, I have never once had to really wait. They are so efficient with their time. I personally hate waiting long at medical offices. I know many people start to get paranoid - not here! You are seen right away. Also they have been very accommodating because I have a 1 year old baby (he was 2 months when I had my first appointment) and they were so tolerate of me. I could not arrange for childcare for these appointments, so I had to bring my kid and they did not give me a hard time AT ALL. I really appreciate that. I would recommend this group again and again! I sing their praises to my friends and family, as well as my clients (I am in the wedding business - and think EVERY bride should go get lasered for her honeymoon!!)If you have ever considered laser, I would go see them for a free consult ASAP!

I cannot say enough good things about Smooth Skin laser!!First off, let me say that I am olive skin, with dark hair and dark eyebrows; if grown out, the hair on my legs looked like a mans! I have always been a waxer, and had looked into laser several years ago when I lived up in DC. I decided against it at that time b/c 1., it was very expensive up there; and 2., I was told that it might not be effective with my skin tone/hair consistency.But, on the recommendation of a friend, I set an appointment with Smooth Skin. The first appointment was just a consultation with Carrie; I love her! She was very candid with me and told me that she thought my hair quality would be susceptible to the laser BUT, it might take more than just 5 treatments (I was interested in a 5-session package they were offering at the time). I sincerely appreciated the honesty.Additionally, the cost of the treatments was completely reasonable; I did the math, and they laser treatments would pay for themselves in 14 months if I continued to wax!!So, I signed up and the results have been AMAZING!!! My hair growth was SIGNIFICANTLY reduced after just the first session (and in some areas didnt grow back at all); and now after 5 sessions, my legs look perfect - I dont have to worry about throwing on a dress for fear of hair on my legs. Based off the success of my legs, I have also signed up for my lip and my bikini - all showing great results after the first couple of treatments.I will also comment that it is NOT as painful as I thought it was going to be. Lets be honest - waxing is not fun or pleasant, and the laser is a bit uncomfortable. But, what would take 45-60 minutes with waxing is done in 15-20 minutes with the laser.So, all in all, I am completely satisfied with my experience at Smooth Skin laser. Both Carrie and Lexi are awesome; the prices are affordable (and dare I say cheap compared to NoVa!); and my results are fantastic!! If you are at all interested in laser hair removal, I recommend scheduling an appointment today!!

I found Smooth Skin & Laser after having a negative experience at another Charlottesville laser office. I was burnt extremely bad, and the ladies there acted like I wasnt burnt at all needless to say I will never go back to that one.Smooth skin and laser is by far the best in the area. The team and their staff really do care about the clients that are coming in and how they can best get results for their laser needs.Carrie is so very sweet. She makes coming in so easy and she always talks me through it as sometimes it really hurts on the high setting.She is extremely knowledgeable and she cares about getting the best results possible for her clients. After contemplating laser hair removal for nearly a decade, I finally took the plunge and am so thankful I did so with Smooth Skin Laser. Aside from the professionalism and general kindness I experienced at the clinic, I was most impressed with the machine itself. Unlike other clinics, SSL uses a medical-grade machine that has a cooling function which minimizes pain. I have a moderate pain tolerance and I can only imagine what it would feel like without that cooling mechanism (eek!).This is a LIFE-ALTERING experience because it saves me so much time in the shower and I no longer have to battle ingrown hairs. I had my armpits, bikini line and upper lip done. Post-treatment, I experienced no itching, pain, or change in pigmentation, with only a minimal amount of redness for two days. Within a week my hair was no longer growing back and I havent had to shave for days. Ive tried waxing in the past and it was more painful with over half the shelf-life. My hair grows fast and I shave my armpits daily. After only one session my skin is smooth and hair-free. Ill have to return for several more follow-up sessions, but thanks to the great care I received at SSL, I eagerly anticipate it instead of dreading it.Carrie has a talent for multi-tasking: she performed excellent laser care while simultaneously distracting me with good conversation. Before I knew it, the treatment was over. I believe this talent stems from the fact that SSL focuses on hair removal and hair removal alone, unlike other clinics and spas that provide an assortment of services, potentially making them less proficient at a single one. The women at SSL are experts at hair removal and I whole-heartedly give them fives stars.
