Great environment, its clean and has all the equipment. There is also a pool, punching bag, and my favorite -the indoor track.The staff is also great, very pleasant and welcoming.Its a clean place, with a tranquil tone. I have been a patron for several years, and I have never regretted my membership.

Everyone in Charlotte seems to love the Dowd YMCA, but Id like to offer that Childress Klein is one of the Ys best kept secrets. Maybe its because its in an office building in uptown, and that scares people away, but the parking is free via parking validation, and the elevator literally takes you from the garage to the front door of the Y. The equipment is great, clean and the A/C is usually nice and cool, as opposed to the Sweaty Dowd. Never have to wait for the equipment I need as its rarely busy. Definitely prefer CK over Dowd in the uptown area!

Great Gym! Not only do they have excellent machines, free weights, cardio options, but they also have a Pool. Back home, gyms never have a Pool because of space.Oh, also have a Basketball Court with very lively players. With so many options, I definitely recommend spending some productive time at this gym.

Urban Y visits around the country is one of my passions. Pool, track and weights were great. The yoga/stretch room is off the main facility and needs some love.

Mask policy is not well enforced. Some of the basketball players didn’t even have a mask on. Others on the court and elsewhere working out were not wearing them properly...pulled down under their chin or nose exposed. This branch does not seem to be concerned enough to even remind people of the policy. I observed staff watching the b-ball game and not say anything to those not wearing masks. Very disappointing, especially with the high rates they charge to be a member. Seriously thinking of moving my membership to Planet Fitness a block a way. They charge a fraction of the cost of a Y membership.That being said, the facility is nice and you can get a good workout in. Also nice that a pool is on premise.The COVID hours are very poor. For those of us who enjoy a mid morning or mid afternoon workout, it is not possible. Being a member that only uses the CK Y, the experience is very poor during COVID. Giving two stars is being generous, but the facility is nice. The staff, and enforcement of health policies, need to step up their game

Very clean and modern facilities & equipment. Friendly staff and you’ve got the whole building to park. Just don’t forget to have your parking ticket validated, so it’s free! Enjoy working out! This is definitely a perfect place for recreation as well as relaxation. Highly recommended.

This is a smaller YMCA but it has all that you need in it. It is also located right in the heart of Uptown. The staff here was fine and there are also some cool places to walk around if you just go outside just to sight see. It also has a rather strange stretching room that is a little on the small side. It is this small square room.

Really handy for a post work, workout. I get to the gym by 4pm, when there is a gap between the lunch crowd and the after 5pm folks. Enough gym equipment to go around as they recently upgraded. Far better than other gyms in the area, pool, track, cycling, 2 basketball courts, sleds etc

This YMCA was small but not crowed in the morning. It had treadmills and spin bikes over looking a basketball court. The weights were mostly limited to machine weights and there was very little space for free weights. The stay was friendly and helpful. The location of this YMCA is in the 1 Wells Fargo Tower and it is connected with the Hilton hotel. As of November 2018 the Courtyard Marriott had an agreement with this YMCA for its guest to use the facilities. There are many classes offered at the YMCA and it was a good opportunity to get a workout in before starting work while I was out of town.

Have been a member and visiting for years. Staff is a big reason that this place ranks high for me. Facilities are decent but cannot beat the location. Decent class selection

I come here almost every day on my lunch break and I love it. Colleen, who works at the front desk, knows me by name and always says hi. Gigi heckles me when I forget my tag (playfully, of course). Class instructors are amazing, the lifeguards are awesome and chat with you, the facility is immaculate... I love this gym! Dont change a thing!

I love the basketball set up. The pool is very nice. Spacious locker rooms WITH towels provided! Pool is not deep, but sufficient for laps. 4 stars because I dislike the old weight equipment and it is rather dirty. They validate parking on the weekdays AFTER 430 pm so keep that in mind if you are parking and want to avoid fees. Saturday and Sunday are free parking all day. Generally slow on the weekends. Busy on weekdays.

Great location for popping in on a lunch break if you work uptown. The steam room and sauna are a bit tight and theres no hot tub. Lockers are plentiful and its very clean. Theyre updating the cardio area right now, so be aware of that if you are going to this location. Lunch break hours are busy, but weekends arent too bad.

This YMCA stands out among other branches in Charlotte for its convenience, design and gamut of options. Kinds are not allowed at this location which maybe an inconvenience for parents but it is ideally located to target evening crowd for uptown workers. I like that they provide clean towels for free to gym members as well as convenient free parking at the Hilton

Great facility located inside the “One Wells Fargo Center”. All the amenities one could ask for!-Indoor, cool swimming pool (5 lanes, 25 yards in length)-Two half-court basketball courts-fitness center with strength and cardiovascular equipment-locker rooms-sauna-private showers-Fitness Bar serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks along with a salad bar and build-your-own sandwich-cycle studio & (1/9 mile indoor running turf track)-can’t forget the free WiFi.

Close to work. Helps a lot for working people and students by exercise and workouts. Front desk is more welcoming. Sauna options are great. Clean showers and towels. Locker facilities available

One of the staff member who works there is arrogant and a bit of racist. There is something wrong with their system and said my membership is expired. (I have been paying on time for over three years and my membership worked a day before this happened.The staff member gave me a look like I am being dishonest to them because the system couldn’t match my info of my current family plan. They even told me some people are using other people’s name to sneak in, insinuating me that I might be doing that. I have been working out in this y for over three years. This is really humiliating and disgraceful.How come they’re showing me the attitude which is their system problem. Really disappointed.

Well organized with good appointments. Crowd well behavior. Mens locker room awesome includes towers. For a smaller YMCA it is excellent. Sufficient cardo machines. Free weights were crowded with people. Swimming pool was beautiful!

Very busy but a large enough facility to accommodate. Womens locker room is large with plenty of lockers, showers, lots of mirrors and bathroom stalls. Everything is easy to find once you are ready to work out. I love the 12:15 p.m. Quick Fit class!

Was able to spend some time here while on a job. Great atmosphere. Compactly designed, and yet there was a plethora of things to choose from. When Im in Charlotte next, I hope to visit this YMCA again.

Nice clean facility. I use the 25 yard pool and love the location. The fact that they validate parking in the afternoons makes it that much more accessible.

They have great shakes! I dont have a membership so I havent been able to enjoy much more outside of that but I definitely enjoy their shakes!

Great experience people there nice and friendly. Its adult gym which is nice plenty of fresh towels.

I work in Charlotte so I mainly workout here during the weekday lunch hour. Although this is a smaller YMCA this place has so many activities. It has a large cardio section, free weights, machines, two basketball half courts(there is a pillar that prevents full court games), olympic lifting platform, cross fit type training room, small track, spinning classes, swimming pool and much more. Mens locker room is huge with lots of showers, steam room and sauna. Towels are complimentary. I have worked out at a lot of facilities and this is by far one of my favorites.

The best Y in uptown Charlotte period. It doesnt have as much of the crowding problem Dowd has during peak hours, has solid weight areas, plus a pool, crossfit area, and basketball court. Only reason its not a 5 for me is the lack of windows and sunlight, something that Gateway Village Y does have.

Friendly desk staff and one of the best YMCAs in Charlotte. Sauna and steam room and kept in good shape unlike some of the other YMCAs in the area.

The facility is nice, staff is nice, but there is not a wheelchair accessible bathroom. This is a fairly new building. Serious oversight by the YMCA.

Best Y in the country

So glad I joined the Charlotte YMCA system. You can visit any location, but I frequent the Childress Klein YMCA for swimming laps. They offer towel service, the staff is very friendly, and the locker rooms are very clean.

Clean, sanitary, clean, clean! Now, as for the equipment, staff, and everything else that you expect from a facility, its excellent as well. However sanitation is most important to me. This is not the case of all locations.

Best branch in Charlotte. Clean. Great staff. No kids.

Great place to work out, clean facility, friendly staff, but I got my brand new smart phone stolen today from mens locker room although the locker was locked with a padlock (!). Was told by security that similar incidents did happen lately. So, dont bring valuable items to the locker room. And itd be nice for YMCA staff to put a warning sign stating not to bring valuables to the fitness center (they did after my complaint & police report). 1-star cuz YMCA CK mgmt didnt do/offer anything to mitigate my damages. They said they contacted their insurance co which ended up telling them they cant help. After filing a police report, the detective who got assigned to the case told me that this is the 3rd or 4th stolen cell phone reported for the same location within a month!? Cancelled my membership.
