In process of building a home and when the framing was connected to the foundation, several areas of the exterior concrete were blown out which led to the home not being properly attached to the foundation. Also had some bounce to the flooring upstairs. Mike came out and was able to 1. assess the current state of the foundation 2. review the builders recommended repair for the foundation 3. recommended a more aggressive repair than what the builder performed for the bounce upstairs which the builder agreed to complete. This is an exceptional company.I called for an engineers inspection and report for a crack in our crawl space brick since were planning on selling our house in a few months.Kathleen took my call and was friendly and helpful. She quoted a ballpark price of $600 - 800 for the inspection, but said the cost might be reduced if the engineer did not find any issues requiring a lengthy inspection. She scheduled an appointment for the following week.The morning of the inspection, Daniel Rochester called a half hour before coming out, and arrived right on time. Soon after I showed him the crack he told me it wasnt anything serious and didnt require any repairs, but he would inspect inside the crawl space and house and document all measurements in the engineering report.He took pictures of the crack inside and outside the crawl space, and inspected inside the house with a laser level. Dan reduced the bill to $400 and emailed a complete, detailed engineering report within a couple of days.I was very impressed with IDE and especially with Dan. Hes professional, knowledgeable, considerate - a super nice guy. I highly recommend this company and would definitely ask for Dan to perform the inspection.

March 2013:After being told that our home needed a structural inspection by a general contractor, we contacted Marcel Papineau. The initial e-mail was sent Saturday morning. Marcel called us by Saturday night. He was comfortable communicating by text, as that works best in my busy schedule. By Sunday afternoon, we had scheduled an inspection by that Friday.Marcel was on time, professional, and very thorough. We chose him over other engineers because the cost was going to be the same for any of them, but his deliverable was so much better. The detailed instructions and drawing for the repairs is easy to read and completely explains all of the needed repairs.The report was in my in-box in a week. I was able to e-mail it to the contractor the same day to start requesting quotes. The contractor stated that he prefers Marcels reports to others as they are very detailed and easy to follow with the diagram he provides.Intelligent Design is the must use Structural Engineer. You will pay the same price for any of the highest rated engineers, so contact Marcel to get the best product for what you are paying for.---------------------------------------------------------------------------May 2013:After the construction company came out and made the repairs, Marcel came back and reinspected the crawl space. He found that some of the work was not completed as he had instructed, Marcel worked with the construction company to correct the issues in just 1 week!

While in the process of buying a house, I asked Intelligent Design to take a look at some structural stabilization that the sellers had done. They were able to meet a tight schedule and get in during the home inspection. As luck would have it, he had been to that very house twice to look at a basement wall that had some buckling. We had IDE come out to assess whether we can close off our two story living room and make a bonus room upstairs. We were scheduled in quickly, within 2 weeks. The person handling the scheduling was Kathleen and she was nice to work with, really had her stuff together. Daniel came out, and sent us a plan the same day, something we can give to our contractor. It was a little pricey but you get what you pay for, and IDE does quality work.

I would recommend Intelligent Design Engineering to anyone who has a structural problem with their house. The engineer, Marcel, was thorough in his examination, used state of the art equipment and provided explanations in layman terms that were understandable.I highly recommend them.
